My Hero! (Nanaly/Sora)

Well, finally time to spend her own money! Nanaly had gotten paid recently, so she decided to treat herself to something nice. Maybe a nice pair of sunglasses? I mean it wasn't something she needed before since she rarely went outside but while training with Meni she needed to keep the sun out of her eyes! Plus if she went to the beach it be more than helpful for surviving in the sun.

The Quincy was on foot this time, usually, she'd use her broom to hover slightly over the ground but she wanted to give herself a little workout. Meni would be proud! Nanaly had that ever-present smile on her face. As she walked through the busy streets she squeezed her tight body through the crowd of people finally entering the sunglass store.

Though just outside were two men watching her, Nanaly didn't notice her eyes locked onto the hundreds of various glasses that lined the cases. This was where she finally decided what she wanted, on the top shelf was simple and stylish!

Quickly asking the tall clerk for help Nanaly paid for her item, put it in its case, dropped it in the plastic bag, and rushed out the door eager. It seems she was always moving a mile a minute. As she squeezed through the crowd she took a turn down an alley to avoid the traffic of people. This was where those guys from earlier would make their way after her. With a bark, they spoke up and barked demands at her. "Oi Missy! Give us your purse and those glasses!" A classic mugging- great, though Nanaly was kinda confused, weren't they doing this close to the street?

Sora had just gotten some of his own shopping done. He got a new video game and this small repair kit that he thought Kaede would enjoy, since she seems to like taking shit apart all the time. Heading down the street, he began making his way home when he walked by an alley and heard a couple of clearly harassing words. He wasn’t completely sure what was going on, so when he stopped, the man just looked down the alley to see two men looking at a confused woman.

“You good?” Sora asked the woman as he stepped into the alley.

Nanaly ‘s ears perked up at the sound of people making demands. She was quick to shake her head. She was just about ready to shoot these guys with some Quincy arrow and be done with them. They were your stereotypical thugs—tall and muscular. However, before she could she heard a man speak up.

He wasn’t that bad looking… Nanaly would sigh and decide to speak up. “Well… these two guys are threatening to mug me!” She wanted to see if this man could help her! She didn’t feel threatened, but why not let the boy have a heroic moment?

“Who do you think you are? Shut ya trap!”

The obvious confidence the woman displayed convinced Sora he wasn’t actually needed here, but he wasn’t the type to just walk off. Instead, he pulled out his cell phone and began dialing the police. “Calling the cops,” he said and pushed send. Putting the phone to his ear, he stared dully at the men, allowing his bag of randomly bought stuff to hang from his other hand. The operator picked up. “Yeah, reporting two idiots mugging a woman in the alley… They’re in the alley between that Lunar Gem and Tech Hub store on Seventh St... Yeah, that one.”

Nanaly was watching in complete excitement! As she watched her hero appear, she watched him take out his phone! Oh! Maybe he was one of those hero rangers? The transforming kung-fu type! However, it seems her excitement was shattered as he just called the police. Regardless while the two men turned to face Sora as he called the phone they started to panic!

This was when Nanaly took her chance, summoning her blue reishi broom, she quickly sat down and flew upwards to put herself a few feet above the men, and flying closer to Sora, as she descended, she stepped off and stood next to the man.

“Right! He’s the head of the police!” That had to be it, this guy was a high ranking police officer! How cool!

The two men walked closer, cracking their knuckles and looking down at Sora. “And what if we just knock your lights out before the cops arrive?”

“Now they’re threatening me as well…” Sora said, pinching the bridge of his nose. This was the third dramatic incident he had been a part of in the last two weeks. His life was becoming something out of a comic book or movie. “Understood, but if they attack, I will defend myself and this girl,” Sora explained to the operator as he set his stuff on the ground next to the wall, out of the way.

Seeing as they were looking down at him, they were both rather large men. Sora was six foot himself, so it wasn’t often that he looked up at anyone. Sora’s shoulders rose in a heavy huff, a puff of smoke escaping from his nostrils, a hint of some hidden capabilities, as he stared back at the men. “Don’t.”

Nanaly couldn’t help but laugh at what was unfolding, these two goons didn’t even run away when they easily could from the other side of the alley instead scrambling as they huddled up and discussed their plan. It seems Sora had talked them down. Nanaly was honestly impressed and would give the man his due respect.

“Wow… you scared him down with one word.” She spoke softly, her broom dissipating back into pure Reishi. Nanaly still had all of her stuff and was unharmed by the two hooligans. As they kept discussing huddled up, she looked at the tall man and sighed.

“Thanks for uh… rescuing me” She smiled, something that wouldn’t leave her face. “So do we just wait on the cops…?”

Sora noted the disappearing broom, the unhealthy look in her skin and eyes, and the smile she somehow kept up in that situation. He was still on the phone with the operator, so he merely nodded to answer her question and her gratitude. As if on cue, an officer turned the corner with his sirens blaring and skidded to a stop at the sidewalk before getting out of his car and walking toward the both of them. Sora picked up his things, gestured Nanaly to the end of the alley, and followed her out.

“What’s the problem?” the officer asked and Sora began explaining the situation. The jargon he used hinted at a deeper knowledge of the law and policing. Due to the situation, the cop took down a quick report from both Nanaly and Sora before shaking Sora’s hand, tilting his hat to Nanaly, and heading out. Since there was no real violence, there wouldn’t be much to even do here now that they ran.

"You see them again, stay clear. You good?"

Nanaly would follow his direction walking out of the alley. Nanaly’s theory was only being further proven! He knew all the cop code! Definitely the chief of police… The quincy would write her statement briefly to the police officer, telling him the play by play.

“Yep! If I see em I’ll be sure to call you~” She smiled and leaned fowardly being playful with him. “My name’s Nanaly by the way. I’m part of the Vandenreich!” She extended her hand, offering Sora a handshake.

Sora leaned back a little, turning his body sideways to avoid being too close to her. Personal. Space. Was. Important. Taking the hand the woman offered, he gave a firm shake, sure not to squeeze too tight. She looked delicate. “Sora Yasutake,” he said and took a full step back. “Part of the Vandenreich? Doing what?” Remembering her broom, he wasn’t sure what a witch could do for the Vandenreich. Since she also looked like she couldn’t punch herself out of a paper bag… Yeah, she definitely wasn’t a sternritter… Secretary?
