Tsubine dudcked the water bottle and a challenging "do that again" smile flashed. Kohaku wasn't right on this, but Tsubine at least understood where his heart lie. He waved off the commentary. He wasn't going to go anywhere willingly. Shōjin was his home, but it was also more than that. He felt a responsibility for the district—one he felt no one else would take up. There wasn't another person who cared for the Rukongai like he did.

"I may be technically as the kids call it 'on the market,' but I'm not actually looking. I'm... content with where I am right now." There was a brief hesitation. He wasn't fully content. He wanted Mayumi to have a mother figure. Sure, Kei was kind-of filling the role of female role model, but even that would only go so far. Plus, it had been some time since he'd gotten laid. As much as he wouldn't admit it, that did play some part into his own desires—and his own distractions.

"So don't go trying to tie your love life to mine. And don't make me make that an order." Tsubine tossed his water bottle at Kohaku's sprawled form. "Besides, I could get a date whenever I wanted." Probably

"As the kids say? Haha. How old are you, man?” Kohaku asked, raising an eyebrow at his boss. In this world, it felt like your appearance was more important than your actual age, though maturity was often counted too. Kohaku noticed that hesitation, as he noticed most things about the guy he pretty much idolized. Tsubine may be “content,” but he wasn’t happy. Kohaku knew Tsubine had to get lonely sometimes… and Kohaku, J, and Mayumi could only fill so many roles a person needed…

Kohaku didn’t move as the water bottle was thrown at him. Instead, he looked to Tsubine and raised a challenging eyebrow. “Prove it. Go out there and get a date then. Do that, and I’ll pay for two weeks of those damn donuts you like so much…”

"Now listen here, sonny-boy..." Tsubine put on the best-worst "old man" accent he could muster, then chuckled. What Kohaku didn't say was right—but it didn't matter. Tsubine waved it off by changing the subject. "I'm not joking, Kohaku. I will order you to go on a date." He had both eyebrows raised as a way of showing the kid "you don't challenge me."

"And besides. I own that damn bakery! You'd just be paying me! With MY money!" Tsubine threw up his hands. "If I took three-hundred kan from one pocket and put it into the other pocket, it'd be the same thing as you buying those donuts. " Tsubine pointed at Kohaku. "You know what? Just for that, fifteen laps around the dojo." He clapped his hands to signal Kohaku to start.

By the end of this Kohaku was laughing his ass off. He actually forgot that Tsubine bought that bakery a while back. He ended up wiping a tear of joy away from the corner of his eye. Of course, that smile instantly vanished when he was ordered to run around the dojo. Kohaku knew he was serious. He let out a low grooooaaaan. The room wasn’t huge, but his legs fucking HURT. “God fucking da-… Fiiiine.”

Kohaku took his first step and felt that soreness hit his legs real quick. Of course, he ran through it and then decided… Shunpo, shunpo, shunpo, shunpo… He dashed around as quickly as he could, making those laps in like… a few seconds.

"Ow, ow, ow... Ugh... Remind me to never forget what shop you buy again..."

Tsubine's smile widened as Kohaku used the muscle he used the least—his brain. Tsubine was once a brat himself, and he actually liked people who came up with clever solutions. Kohaku using Shunpo wasn't expressly forbidden, so it was fair game. When the kid finished, Tsubine clapped. "Smart move there, smartass." He stood and walked over to help Kohaku stay steady. Tsubine knew he had pushed the kid a little too much; so the least he could do was help him stand and walk.

"C'mon. Let's go upstairs and grab something more refreshing than just water." Tsubine patted Kohaku on the back as they walked up the stairs. "You did good today, all things considered. Just don't bring up me getting a date or next time, you'll be running the stairs."
