Stella would speak up as she thought she may have an idea. She wasn't sure if it would work, but she figured why not try atleast. Planning wasn't exactly her strong suit. However she would offer her idea anyway. Maybe they would find it useful or maybe they wouldn't.

"Well, couldn't we put people who use close range weapons in the front and along the sides of the formation? This would protect the ranged soldiers just in case the ghouls decide to become hostile. We don't fully understand what they are yet."

She would offer as she waited for the reply. Hoping it wasn't a terrible idea buy she had a feeling it wasn't the best. She wasn't hearing anyone else speak out about it yet though.

AKIRA TAIRITSU

Curious to find such a horde scampering about, though Akira could not help but ponder the necessity for this. Maybe the foe was hoping to buy time? Experiment concluded? The man offered a soft nod to Stella, a fair plan for combat operations but this was something more intricate, an individual was testing new things. He did it with Kido all the time. What type of monstrosity would this mastermind forge next time? The Vandenreich provided a consistent supply of subjects to test against before returning to the confines of the shadows.

."Commander. This might be a test for whomever is creating these apparitions, refining their methods before using it to improve. I’d suggest using the sewer system below to hopefully locate a core to this source, even the potential to apprehend or gain insight into something beyond eradicating machinery.

It was all he had for the most part.

His eyes moved to Stella as she spoke up. The idea of charging into a horde of these things, even if they're not too much of a threat, would only create an issue if they do become a threat. They'd be surrounded with no idea of how many of these creatures there are in this massive gathering. They could fight, but then eventually get tired and overran. Akira's idea would seem more viable in his head. If they wanted to get to the heart of this, they'd need to get closer but stay out of harm's way.

"Thank you, Stella, but we're moving underground. We'll have our melee specialists take the lead with all others playing the role of support."

His eyes would move to a sewage grate cover which he moved to and picked up with ease, throwing it to the side. He'd motion for people to come forward, the stronger of the bunch going down before the rest. At the end, they'd all be in the sewers, Reishi flashlights created to light the dark tunnel. The smell could be better, but beggars can't be picky. Though, the pull of Reishi down here would prove to be stronger as they could visibly see the reishi moving through the sewers.

"This way, men," Jefferson would command as he went first in the direction the Reishi moved.

Stella would nod as she accepted her position. She knew that Akiras idea had probably been a lot better than her own but she didn't really mind. She knew thar Akira had a much mote tactical mind and that she wasn't the smartest. So she would follow behind in a group of soldiers as they walked through the sewers. Since there were others with the flash lights out, Stella would keep her axe.

She did so just in case of any of those zombies popping up down here. Since some of the other quincies had turned their weapons unto flashlights Stella didn't feel like she needed to. Staying behind the group she would try to move over closer to Akira as she had a question.

"So, you're a shinigami huh?"

AKIRA TAIRITSU

There was a splash as Akira shifted down into the sewer system, coming to acknowledge that white was not a good choice for this but it is not like he could change now. He did not like this, reishi beings of this calibre were not too problematic for now but if someone could extend the dome? A limitless army at their beck and call is not exactly healthy for anyone. Vandenreich included. There was a shift in his eyes, foregoing normal sight in exchange for a brilliant sonar which extended into the tunnel ahead, hoping to act like a pre-emptive beacon for the squad.

."Hm?

He shifted his gaze to Stella, a soft smile remaining whilst rivu remained gently hovering above the water they may have to trudge through.

."Quite, I hope you do not feel deceived Stella. It’s normal for the usual questions to form like why am I in the Vandenreich or other topics, best others get to know me before knowing my origin. You’ve been doing incredibly well by the way, how are you holding up?

The group would continue deeper into the sewers, the flow of Reishi steadily increasing the further they walked. There seemed to be a lack of anything, even something as simple as a rat absent in the dark tunnels. Water dropped from the sewer's roofing, moss stinking up the environment, but, aside from that, not a sound could be heard outside of their own voices. Though, that would change as they walked near an opening where a sudden scurrying noise could be heard, like feet against wet cement.

Attention turned to the hole; light shown as bows were drawn.

"Wait! Wait! Don't fire! Please! Please!"

Is that? The lights focused, revealing a ragged man, his hair grown exceptionally long. His skin, tanned, dirty, and bruised, painted a picture one would only conclude as homeless. He wore nothing but loose shorts that barely clung to his frail frame. His eyes are widened, bloodshot.

"You's not one of them, are you!? Please! Don't hurt me!"

Jenkins, quiet, narrowed his eye.

Stella would move up a little closer to the front. Still keeping her place on the side as she was a melee fighter afterall. As she kept herself near the sides she would still keep an eye out at the man as she would try to see if there was anything behind them. Was this someone actually asking for help? Or was it a trap by the enemy. At this point she was thankful this wasn't her call to make.

Her nature made her want to check on the man. She wanted to help him but she wasn't going to jeopardize the lives of all the people in the tunnel. there could be issues with this guy and she wasn't entirely sure she trusted it. She wasn't sure what to do.

"H...hey Akira, should we try to help him?"

AKIRA TAIRITSU

Akira glanced at Stella whilst she made her inquiry, only for it to return to this disheveled individual.who came from the darkness. It was by all accounts a legitimate being yet a tinge of concern still washed across his body. This was an enemy who fought against the Vandenreich enough to react accordingly, this could just as easily be a barrier or a buffer so their objective could escape or burn away any concrete evidence. Clever if it was the case. It did not take long for Akira to offer a slow shake of the head to Stella.

."The Vandenreich are meant to protect the innocent, this could be a buffer to halt our advance. We are in a bit of a situation if that is the case but there is an alternative, I’ll subdue them and should they be harmless. I can apologize after.

He said relatively casually as the Shinigami muttered a bit to himself, a step forward eliciting a high speed movement before appearing to his left, a hand motioning whilst words uttered for a Hainawa to merely restrain the individual unless it was definitely not a normal individual.

."Forgive me, we will assist after the greater issue has been handled..

"Wait!" The rugged man yelled. "You're going to turn me into those things! No! Let me go! Don't turn me into a monster!"

Jenkins moved, quick in his step as he picked up the man Akira had restrained, holding him up by the energy coiling around him against the wall.

"Tell me what you know," Jenkins said, his voice a hushed whisper. "And we'll let you go."

The rugged man had whimpered as he was picked up, fear radiating off of him in waves. However, he is no fool and started babbling the nonsense he had in his head.

"T-They came suddenly. People were getting sick, real sick, and people came saying they were going to help. That's when they started disappearing. Everyone starting to vanish one by one. Then I started seeing ghosts. Dead people! They attacked anything that moved, turning them into ghosts and and and-"

He started crying.

"I'm just a hobo, man. I ran in here. Please let me go."

Jenkins narrowed his eye but dropped the man to the ground. He started to walk off, but stopped as the man he had dropped who was sobbing on the ground started spasming. The man's hair started to fall from his hair as the ambient Reishi suddenly began filling the space they occupied, suddenly attacking the man. His skin started to dry, wrinkling and shrinking as his bones started to poke out. His eyes started dissolving, his teeth falling out as parts of his started turning blue.

Suddenly, he's no longer there, the hobo suddenly turned into the monsters they've been fighting as his form slipped through his bindings and dissolved into Reishi and flowed out into the sewers. Everything went quiet then until-

"Run!" Jenkins ordered as he turned his eyes to see a giant wall of gnawing mouths and hands stretching out of a wall of dense Reishi that raced towards them down the sewers.

Jefferson City 3: Alpha - The Sentinal - Page 5 Empty Re: Jefferson City 3: Alpha - The Sentinal

Stella would listen to the commander as she would run. She would make sure she was on the outside to protect anyone she could. She knew that the one thing she was good for was being a body shield for those who may be more useful than herself. As they continued to move through the sewers she would try to kill any of the monsters who would try to get her in the way. As she would keep up with the rest she would try to keep an eye out for anything different. There was that weird robot that Ehefra had decided to fight for herself. She was trying to keep an eye out for anything to happen.

She felt bad for the homeless man, but she wasn't able to do anything about what had happened to her. She wasn't sure what was even happening. This wasn't like hollows or anything that she had been accustomed to fighting. It was more like zombies from those things her father used to watch and read around the house.
