«IT'S TIME TO SWALLOW MY FEAR»

Well. It's about time I asked this. Time to swallow my fear and just simply ask this question that has been picking at the back of my mind like a terrible idea that just won't go away. As of now, I've been wanting to get better at RP, and making my character applications much better. Not just saying this to get a high tier with them, but also for them to be a fun read, and hopefully desirable to thread with. While I do consider myself adept, or at least decently skilled within the whole concept, I desire to become better. Don't we all? That is why I wish to continue to improve. And right now, I wish to ask YOU all for help. I was hesitant with making this at first, since I wasn't sure about the reaction I would receive from this, but now, I think I have the courage to swallow my fear, and simply ask.

I would like to know a few things with this thread:

1. How I can improve my RP quality in my posts so that I do not seem boring or uninteresting in social or combat.

2. Tips on how to improve my character creation quality so that I can make characters that don't seem rushed or anything of the lot.

FINAL NOTES:

If push comes to shove with this, I know that I can rely on you guys for help. I wish to become the best I can be, and you guys can help me with this. Constructive Criticism, as well as criticism in general is something that could help me toughen up a bit and get better, even if it's slow.

Advice on RP and Character Apps? Empty Re: Advice on RP and Character Apps?

I agree with Moose for building time & experience, but i'll give my own personal opinion.

I've struggled with quality of post like you do, i thought quantity > quality and oh boy i was wrong 360tilted&triggered. My assumption is that you struggle too much trying to entertain others to read your post, while i have no idea whether if you enjoyed writing as you go. Back then, i was obsessed with length & quality because i feel like my post were shit, not good enough for the thread, too boring, too much unnecessary details and etc. You name my concerns, i've thought of it while writing a single, simple post over it.

My idea is that just write however the fuck you want. If a person doesn't enjoy it, then have a private convo with the other roleplayer and talk it out. I personally find it draining and really kills my muse the instant i had a thought of forcing out quality. Even my current 2k or above posts, i personally don't enjoy writing them because it felt forced rather than fun. Out of my experiences, just write it the way you want it.

I don't really want to write too long because i understand how you feel with posts but that's the general idea of it. Don't care about quality, quantity or whatever that you want to make your post look like the good shit for people to smoke. Its good to know that you are sincerely asking and looking for improvement, but its better to do it the way you preferred and enjoy it. If you aren't settling well with it, you can always PM with your partner and talk about plot & stuff.

Don't end up being a miserable fuck like me, if i had to say that.

For character apps, again, apply the way you enjoy and like it. Forcing it to look good and smoked good by others at the expense of your own muse and enjoyment is not worth it.
