Re: The Aftermath(Rei/J)

Rei struggled to cast any of the higher level sped. Nothing had really clicked while she was in the academy. She had Hannah as an instructor at one point, but even then she wasn't fully able to make her way to the next level of kido. For the most part, she had abandoned trying to get better at it. Favoring her physicality more than the spiritual aspect of being a shinigami. Something thst she was now beginning to regret.

Hm, so she meant a true beginner. Well, that would explain why she seemed reluctant to try a spell immediately. it had been a while since he went back to those level of basics, but he was sure he could remember something. “Then you’re going to try Thirty-Nine,” J said, assuming she would recognize the name. “Enkōsen will help you in multiple ways. It is a defensive spell, so it will block kido fired at you, and mastering it will prove your ability to precisely exert and control your reiryoku at a high enough rate that most other bakudo will come much easier.”
J crossed his arms and watched her, focusing his reikaku on her to really observe her energy. "Demonstrate Enkōsen to the best of your abilities."

Rei quickly held out her hand as she spoke the incantation. She had never really been one to try and do things that she didn't think she was good at. She wad a hard worker when it came to things she thought she was good at, but when she put a mental block on something it was hard for her to get over it. She finished the incantation as she spoke he number.
"Bakudo #39, Enkosen"
She spoke, but the yellow spinning disk that was supposed to be appear was more like a small dinner plate. It wasn't big enough to block anything and would likely be lucky if it was able to withstand a bite from a small hollow. She sighed, but she waited to see if she got any pointed towards what she did wrong.

J focused on her energy output. Seeing the shield was way too small to protect anything, she must have been struggling to exert enough energy at once to complete the rotation at any significant size.
"Keep it spinning, breathe, and then focus on exerting more reiryoku into the spell," J said and then kept watching her energy to see how she did this. Too much and it could explode on her. Too little and it'll stay small and weak. If she did things too fast, too slow, etc... More bad things could happen. "Try not to push too fast, but create a steady flow of energy."

Rei did as she was told. She kept the energy spending as she made the conscious decision to slowly push energy into the spell as it did begin to get larger. So that it was beginning to block parts of her body. The only problem now was how much concentration she was having to push into the spell. Sweat began to run down her face as the spell got larger and blocked the important bits of her.
"L...like this?"
She spoke as she tried to keep herself steadied. Having a hard time speaking out to him as she kept the energy pushing. Trying to keep it even she was panting a bit now as she felt her body beginning to get tired.

It was clear that this young woman tired out very quickly. It wasn’t the easiest spell, but he would not have considered it that taxing. It seemed she need some stamina work as well, along with increasing the amount of reiryoku she produces. "Alright, that's enough," J said and waited for her to stop. "I recommend continuing to use that spell repeatedly, until it becomes second nature. It is a great defensive spell and perfect for practicing reiryoku output and shaping. Take a minute and do it again."

Rei did as she was told. She allowed the spell to fade into nothing. It was something that she was going to be helping her, but she still needed to go farther. Even if this would have had to stall the Hadō 80 she needed something stronger to keep a spell like that from wounding her severely.
"Okay. I'll do it again."
She raised her hand as she concentrated her spirit energy into gathering just in front of her hand. As the blue energy of hers shifted to yellow and begin to spin. This time a much improved version of what she had done first. However, it still took a lot of concentration from Rei.

This second attempt was far more efficient, a clear sign that Rei was a quick learner. Even so, J knew the effort would drain her; energy didn’t recover that quickly. It was time to put her work to the test. With a swift shunpo, J reappeared twenty feet away, positioning himself directly in front of her shield. Raising his hand, he launched a simple “Sho” at it, his sharp eyes fixed on the barrier to gauge how well it held.
