Re: Needs more Rosetta (Tawny)
Mon Aug 06, 2012 1:56 am
When Andrew had heard her speak in a different language, his eyes lit up again as he worked on trying to figure out what she had asked him. He looked through the translator, sounding out the letters as he worked it out in his head as he worked on deciphering. The learning of something new always intrigued him. Also he was curious about Tawny as well while scanning the book with incredible focus. Though he did look like he wasn't paying any attention, he did notice that she was blushing. So though he didn't know what she said at first, it was something that had made her blush. Now the question was what did she ask that made her blush? Eventually he had been working through the letters of each word until the code was revealed. At first he didn't saw much, but then he looked up from the book of translations to look into her eyes again. At first he didn't say much, but still he had a kind smile on his face. He nodded his head as he then asked her a question. "Is there anyplace in particular that you might be interested in Tawny?"

The black haired girl felt her face flush a little bit, but she was certainly excited. She wanted to see if he could figure out her puzzle. She was certainly willing for him to figure it out, but it was a distance thing : she didn't want to get so involved so fast with people. So in a way, she had to test them to make sure : it was a sort of reaction to everything, as his eyes slipped to her sometimes. She wasn't sure if he understood : but her past was certainly a partly cause. But the girl felt a sort of warmth, approaching someone, as she just let the blush cool off. She was a level headed person : she would not be defeated by such a thing. She would easily gain control, no matter how shy she was, as she waited, watching him work. It was almost fascinating, seeing someone work through something she had learned long ago. And finally, after the long pause, he asked her a reverse question. The exorcist thought about it, and then gave a slight nod, before a shy smile touched her lips. Tawny might be anti-social and quiet, but she was kind. The girl would nod her head, and start walking in that direction, feeling it too brazen to take his hand. After all, she was not such a person, as she guided them through the library and out of it, with practiced ease. She led him down a few hallways, and seemed relaxed, calm. Arriving at the door of some room, she knocked with the back of her hand. A soft voice told her to come in, as she walked in, respectfully removing her shoes. In the room was a blonde woman, not really looking at them. A single look at her eyes would note that the girl was blind. The black haired girl sat down, and softly discussed with her, as a second girl, with black hair arrived. She had a sweet smile, and had brought enough food for the four of them. Tawny possibly knew he might not enjoy this, but.. she kind of wanted him to. She didn't speak directly to him, feeling shy : but many took that as arrogance. She hoped that he would see the difference.. after all, she wasn't even sure if she had the courage, unable to even introduce him to the two girls. The lunch was actually quite complex, and of japanese origin, as Tawny easily flowed into the meal : even the blind girl seemed used to such a thing, smiling very gently. It was a truly peaceful air, and it seemed to have soothed most of her anxieties, as she smiled a bit more frequently. |

Hmmm...I wonder what this place is.
Even though Andrew was old (at least how he considered age was since he knew a long time ago to simply not ask the age of anyone because even a child could be a hundred years old in the soul society), he had a youthful air of curiosity around him. His eyes were alight with wondering, pondering where Tawny had taken them. Though he didn't say much, it was clear in his eyes that he had wondered about many things. Looking to the hostess, he bowed in respect as he followed Tawny inside after he took off his shoes. But as he took his shoes off, he looked at one of the other girls and noticed that she was blind. He looked at her eyes curiously, wondering if it had been through an injury in battle that she had received it. in battle. He had always random thoughts going through his mind and at the moment he had began to ponder if she was a member of the Vanguard as well.
The vizard had a curious look on his face when the food was presented. Normally he had usually created his own meals when he had been in the barracks at the vizard corps. His demeanor seemed a little bit random at first as he began to dissect his food curiously. Whenever he saw something that he never encountered before, he wanted to know as much as he could about that particular piece of food with the possibility of recreating it again. In time he did eat the food, smiling appreciatively to Tawny as he then wondered about some kind of conversation. Looking to the blind girl, he then curiously asked,"Out of curiosity, are you a part of the Vanguard as well?"

Tawny watched him out of the corner of her eyes, feeling almost.. awkward to be fairly honest. She wasn't really the type to interact with people, not since the thing that had happened with her clan. It was embarrassing to think of it really, as her demeanor was calm and soothed.. yet she held this sort of nervous energy. The blind woman just smiled gently at the two of them, as Tawny heard the male ask her a question. Softly swallowing the food that was in her mouth, the girl took a breath. ''Yes.. I'm part of the Arcanist.. a division of mostly what people assume to be spellcasters. In a broad sense.'' she said very softly, as to not mislead or misguide the male she was speaking to. The girl let out a soft breath, as she smiled kindly, which seemed to bring a gentle youth to her face that hadn't seemed to be present in a long time. It was almost unique, as she let her fingers press into her lap. She was curious, but wasn't sure where manners were in this case. She was a bit confused, and a bit lost, unsure what to do next. The lunch would be over soon, and typically, she would go back to studying. But.. what if he wanted to do something? This question was confusing, as Tawny found herself trying to acknowledge someone else's own needs before her own. And it was a bit confusing, considering she had mostly cut off contacts like that for a long time. Even with the woman here, she fed Tawny a lunch, and simply basked in the company of the girl. So it was a fair trade... not a selfless thing. Therefore.. she was a bit confused, and seemed to freeze, at least mentally, as she continued to consume the meal in thoughtful silence. Even the other woman, never introduced, remained quiet.. it was a solemn, peaceful and yet nervous atmosphere to say the least. |

"Oooh."
Andrew nodded his head with a big smile on his face. "So I guess in a way your arcane abilities are kind of like a shinigami's Kidō." He had begun to slowly piece things together to the best of his ability as he began to contemplate the incantation she used with the incantations he had dealt with. "Before I got my mask I actually started off in the academy with a pretty good head when it came to incantations. Trick was at the time I needed to find ways to give myself a break because each Kidō started to look like the other. That's why I actually began to start delving more into cooking." He then showed Tawny a small book of different recipes he had been going over in his mind. Today the menu seemed to be more meat and grilling oriented ranging from slow cooking and braising to placing meat to fire for full blown grilling. He seemed to have a very excited look on his face as he then started to wonder if there were both attack and defense spells in her department as well compared to the shinigami's bakudou and Hadō. Looking down at his plate, he then looked at his chopsticks as he still seemed to be talking about Kidō. "I didn't use it at the time, but when I am using my bankai I actually have these two big spoons: one looks like a spoon you use when you cook pasta and the other would have been a regular spoon if there weren't spikes on the outside of it. Anyway, each spoon can actually hold a Kidō each: the pasta spoon can hold a bakudou and my regular spoon can hold a Hadō," he said while holding a single chopstick in each hand. He had a curious thought cross his mind as he then thought up of a question immediately. "Out of curiosity, for your arcane abilities do you also have defensive spells as well?"

Tawny's inner mind state was confused at this point; so the woman softly clapped her hands, bringing the girl out of her stupor. ''Now now, children, go out and play. Dear, won't you give them a little bit to go have fun?'' asked the blind woman, as the dark haired girl seemed to think and smiled, taking out a small purse. Giving it to tawny, whom seemed surprised, the two were escorted out before she could answer Andrew's question, due to them having finished lunch. The girl wanted to protest, but she wasn't sure how; so now, she felt nervous, but remembered a path she could take. Andrew's question! She remember him mentioning his bankai, and his curiosity made her smile a bit. ''Honestly, that would depend on who does what. Humans are much more diverse in power sets then Shinigami's Kidō, in essence. Why? Because we humans have evolved into several types; there's the humans that use Reishi, which is what Shinigami's have. There are humans that use Chi powers; a few of those in our division too. And then we have developed our own Soul Evolution; that's where most of the magic comes out of, but it's not the only source. So technically speaking, there's all these different sources, of current day humans. That's the first step to understanding how diverse the so called ''magic'' can be.'' Tawny said, explaining with a patient, almost teaching tone. After all, she seemed to find herself loving to teach someone just as curious as she was; and she loved being able to expand, and show the knowledge she worked so hard to gain. Her steps had begun to walk outside, as she didn't want to stay cooped up in this building much longer, still talking to Andrew on the way. ''But considering that's the modern day human, there's a large amount of other things too. Other types of energy for one, or age-old methods passed down from religions, clans, and other such things. Although in our day, we define power these with our current day associations of powers, it's not necessarily formed for that power, unlike the Shinigami's Kidō for Reiatsu. Think of it as different recipes.'' she said, remembering the cooking book that Andrew had just shown her. She had a little bit of knowledge into them, since some of her own art, Exorcisms, tended to need certain elements. ''Take our modern day spells and what not; those are the most common recipes. But some people change those recipes; think of that as the people in my squad. We like to experiment and create new recipes; and sometimes, you have totally different recipes for the same thing, but that one is much older. That's how older magic works into this.'' she'd say, taking a breath now. Her eyes spotted a strange flyer, as she walked up to it, and read what was on it. A sort of book expo? The girl raised a brow, and then smile at the male. ''Hey, Andrew, wanna go to this with me?'' she said, pointing a thumb at the sign, wondering if he would like such a thing. Maybe.. that would be fun to go with someone else. |

Chi, soul evolution, the very core of the human "magics"...
For Andrew it was clear in his eyes that he had wanted to learn as much as he could. Though he was a pretty tough fighter and was willing to use his sword when it is called upon, much of his time in the Shino academy was spent in the libraries studying the ways of Kidō so it was up his alley. As she talked about the different kinds of energy, he couldn't help but think what other types were out there. He knew that there was the reiatsu that he always used almost instinctively with his abilities as a shinigami and vizard. Even the quincy were able to use their own type of energy to create those arrows that they have always been known for. To him the energies he always had started off with was thinking about the four elements: earth, fire, wind and water. He had always had a strong connection to the fire element even if his manifestation was something that people would normally expect to deal with.
But one thing was clear when it came to the modern spells: much like in the world of cooking the spells to him seemed like there were two roads that can be taken: do something unexpected and following the recipe. Both have their risks and rewards, especially if they were in the heat of battle. He even remembered when he needed to use his own Kidō to try things that are unexpected as well to turn the tide such as using Tsuriboshi to create a makeshift slingshot or even hainwa on his own zanpaktou to give him an extended reach when he needed to spark his spice to create a heated edge. That was when he heard about the book fair. It sounded like a great idea. Nodding his head, he smiled happily at Tawny,"Sure it sounds great."

Tawny would have went herself in either case: such expos were meant to carry rare books, as the girl was wonton to collect, if only for the library. After all, she loved to research; it was probably why she had access to funds to do so. The black haired woman noted the location of the expo, and marked it down in her mind, as she waited for Andrew's answer nervously. After all, she wanted to make this memorable, or something. She still wasn't quite sure, it felt awkward to be wanting to do things with someone else, when she had worked so hard to push everyone else away. But in that, she had been lonely; that's probably why she even made the efforts to bond. Or what was it? The girl couldn't really understand these measurements anymore, as she let out a sigh. But then the male answered her, the black haired girl almost startled. But she let out a soft smile and nodded. ''Thank you.'' she said softly, happy that he decided to go on this adventure with her. The girl let out another sigh, as she just shook her head. This was going to be interesting, as she pulled the male's hand; she headed back to her chambers, and dug in the piles of clothes she had gathered, and chucked a few at him. ''Here, this should help a bit. We're going to the human world, and your shinigami clothes would stand out too much.'' she said softly. She had chucked him clothes he'd like, considering she had even male clothes in here. Because Tawny had a habit of dressing differently. The girl slowly adjusted her Chinese dress, and even added a scarf and some other items to make it seem together. She let out a sigh, having gone to the bathroom to the change, and then walked out, hoping that Andrew was changed. The girl let out a sigh, and then slowly opened her eyes. She was startled, because she had changed faster. Without a word, she ran back into the bathroom, her eyes wide, and her breaths quick. Uwaa, she hadn't mean to do that, as the girl hid her head in her hands. That had been really, really awkward, as she stayed in the bathroom for a good, ten, fifteen minutes. Once that time had passed? She had slowly walked out, blushing a bit. ''S-s-s-sorry I didn't mean to do that.'' she apologized, rubbing the back of her head. For a going out sortie, this was going on just fantastic right? Walking in on her maybe friend when they were changing, and apologizing so stutteringly, and just blushing awkwardly.. yup, this was shaping up to be an amazing moment. She wouldn't blame him if he decided to say never mind to going, as the girl just stiffly walked out of her room. Tawny would go set up the portal, yeah, and don't worry about what happened! Ignoring it was perfectly fine, right? The human Exorcist wasn't sure, but that's what she hoped.. maybe. |

Andrew looked at the clothes more along the lines about wondering if they were able to fit him. When it came to clothes he could always hear the tailors for shinigami uniforms hitting their heads on walls whenever Andrew destroyed his clothes whether it was because of a mission or he had been training and accidentally set himself on fire when he was younger. That was the trick of it all, needing clothes not just on the big side but also on the tall side. As he remained in the changing room, he had started with the shirts, placing them against his body to see how long they were. He wanted to look presentable while they were at the book fair and wearing a shirt that can expose his stomach was not the wisest thing to choose. As he went through the clothes, he found a simple polo shirt that was a lime greenish in color that seemed to cover his upperbody effectively.
He then heard her apologize and he tilted his head in confusion. He didn't really see where the mistake had been made on Tawny's side. But much of his focus at the moment were going to his pants mainly because he was looking for something that not only fit but also allowed him the freedom of movement that didn't make him look like he walked like a display mannequin. He wasn't able to get a good view of Tawny from the corner of his eye. He had been talking to himself, commenting on which were too tight or too small before finally finding a pair of khaki pants that seemed to give him the room he needed for his legs to walk normally. He found a belt that could fit his waist and found some shoes that could fit his feet before opening the door. He smiled at Tawny as he looked at what she was wearing. "There's nothing to worry about. I hope this is to your liking," Andrew said with a smile.

Well she hadn't counted that the guy was really tall; but she was glad that she collected a lot of clothes that had been lost or abandoned. He wasn't dressed too bad, as she gave him an embarrassed smile, scratching the back of her head. She didn't want to keep him waiting, and then took in a deep breath. Relax Tawny, relax, it's not like you saw him naked. You only saw his boxers, it's not the end of the world, relax. No, don't remember, ah no that's embarrassing how did you remember that! Her mind was a complete mess, as the woman just tried to keep herself from drowning in the memories, not realizing that she was showing a lot of leg skin, and a nice view of her cleavage. The girl was actually pretty hot, as she moved some strands away from her face, a bit irritated at the fact her hair was short currently; maybe she should speed that process up? She wasn't sure, as she took a peek at the male, walking with him to the warp portal. She would have to set it up of course, but the girl felt entirely weird; the portal would just lead them to another Vanguard base. Or something like that; she wasn't even entirely sure anymore, as she softly pulled out the page, to make sure that she had the information that she needed. She didn't want to end up lost what so ever; not whilst she had a guest! The girl let out another side, finding the right coordinates. Slowly tapping them into the computer, it would port them to another area; in a base that was set up in Karakura town for the two, as she felt somewhat nervous. ''Yeah.. I'm just a bit off today.'' she muttered to herself, slowly shaking her head. Typically by now, she would be in the book fair, already bargaining for the books she needed to further her research, and always acquiring more things from the vast expanses of resources of Karakura town. The girl would refuse to drain the resources from the Vanguard, and used her paycheck to expand their own knowledge, often making study guides for subjects, and taking care of acquiring new books. She wasn't out often on missions; but she always did quite a few in a row if she felt the need to raise the money, or had a sense of duty. Her research was important, but if she was told some missions.. well she just shot off like an arrow of justice, seeking the bad guys. Though one of those had turned sour, giving her the meeting of a (former) warden, and a vizard, it was perhaps a blessing for her. In fact, it gave her a source to understand Kidō, and thus her own powers would grow; of that she was sure of. The coordinates were given input into the panel, and the portal let out a whirr, as it opened up for them. She was nervous.. but she was ready to face the next day. ''Let's go!'' she said, walking into the portal, towards the next moments. [Exit thread <3] |
