The Girlfriend Inspection [Kenichi/Violet]

Violet nodded, eagerly getting up from her spot on the couch and hurrying to the kitchen. “That I was a terrible host,” she answered quickly, but then let him continue. His words calmed her down, specifically ‘Vanyel loves you so much.’ If he loved her, he wouldn’t be angry about her being a horrible host to his best friend, right? Couldn’t she make up for it somehow? And then Kenichi gave her a compliment, and Violet’s expression relaxed. A small blush returned to her face.

‘I… can’t keep panicking like this…’ she told herself and pulled out her cell phone. ‘Vanyel says he loves me, and Kenichi has confirmed it… Panicking only makes things worse for everyone… even me. They're not Dad... or Mom.’

Taking a deep breath, Violet seemed to really calm down. “How would you like some pizza?” she asked sweetly, wiggling her phone. “My treat?”

"Absolutely! I'd love pizza. That's one of my favorite foods. How'd you know?"

Kenichi humored with a grin as he fervently nodded his head. He was glad to see his words had a positive effect on her. He didn't exactly understand what made her so anxious, but perhaps it wasn't his place to ask - not right now. In due time, though, he would try and show her that her worries were unfounded. Vanyel might have had his faults, but he was intelligent. He trusted his judgment on a lot of things. As such, he would trust him in choosing the lady with cool hair. Clapping his hands together, his eyes lit up as he thought about something they could do next. Return to the game? Play something else?

"Oho? Something embarrassing, huh? Well, do I have a story to tell you..."

Kenichi would goofily tie his hair into a ponytail, playfully fluttering his eyebrows as though he were one of those valley girls in those retro movies sharing gossip. In short order, he started recounting the events of one particular instance where Kenichi pranked Vanyel.

As he recounted, in a playful valley-girl-like voice - an attempt to make Violet laugh - When his friend exited the shower, Kenichi put baby oil all over the bathroom floor. Consequently, Vanyel made an attempt to chase him down only to keep slipping again and again. Needless to say, since the whole house was tile floors, he couldn't avoid falling no matter where he chased him. And for visual proof? Kenichi pulled his phone from his pocket and showed it to Violet, grinning from ear to ear.

"Want me to forward it to ya, girlfriend?"

"I love it! He won't know what hit him!"

Kenichi couldn't hide his excitement at the prospect of playing a prank on Vanyel again. He never openly stated it in his presence, but Vanyel truly was the closest thing he had to a brother. They shared a mutually profound love of martial arts and the various forms and stances each style entailed.

He held him accountable whenever he got reckless, and he could cook a mean meal that made him want to slap his mom. Okay, well, not literally. She'd probably kick his ass for that. Anyway, grinning from ear to ear, Kenichi would send the video to Violet as he chuckled mischievously, pulling a slice of pizza from the boxes as they arrived.

"One day we should create a prank of our own and catch him off guard. He wouldn't see it coming!"

"Hm..."

Kenichi stroked his chin in contemplative silence. He didn't quite know when Vanyel would get back home. It could be a few minutes, another hour, or even right now... but that didn't mean they couldn't come up with something fun. It probably had to be quick, but quick wasn't a bad thing! Clapping his hands together with a grin, Kenichi came to a conclusion.

"Whatever it is, we'll probably have to be quick for now. I don't know the exact time he gets back, but I'm sure we have at least a few minutes to cook something up. Got anything in mind, partner?"

Wait a minute... something else clicked. He didn't catch it at first since his mind was lost in the excitement, but...

"Vanyel has a stuffed dragon plushie!?!?!?!?"

"Forgot about him? He never told me anything about a plushie..."

Kenichi admitted with a childish pout and cross of the arms. They were certainly best buds, no doubt, but he never really got to learn anything about this secret plushie. Which was saying something, since he'd visited him a lot whenever he could. At their job, they practically hung around each other for hours on end. And he never told him about a plushie at all. Kenichi inched closer as he observed the plushie. Nope. Couldn't remember anything. No memory existed. Error 401.

"Nope. Does not ring a bell. Hello, Mr.Dragon!"
