The Girlfriend Inspection [Kenichi/Violet]

Coming back from work early was not a very common luxury that he got to enjoy, nor was it something he really ever took advantage of. But, it had been insisted that he headed home early for the day, and, after a long, stubborn debate, Vanyel eventually caved. So, he found himself antsy in the moderate quiet of the trip home. Fingers idly tapped the steering wheel as he waited for the light to turn, and eventually, he found himself fiddling with the radio.

Thankfully, with the modernity of radios in cars, he was able to turn it to a Chinese rock station, something that kept his mind active and focused on something else. The light turned green, and he was off again. The trip home was relatively uninteresting. Vanyel pulled into the garage, got out of the car, stretched, and started to take off his suit jacket. He'd texted Vi about ten minutes out that he'd be home early and the estimated time he'd be back.

"Oh! I can hear him approaching now!"

Kenichi deftly followed behind. He couldn't wait to see the look on Vanyel's face. He could tell Violet shared the same mentality. Once she played the video, Kenichi, with a playfully mischievous grin, stood behind Violet as he snickered silently. Oh, he couldn't wait for this one...

"Boo!"

Fishing for his keys, Vanyel locked the car behind him, two beeps coming from the vehicle as he double-tapped the respective button while he slung his suit jacket over his arm. He figured that Vi had either taken a nap, did something around the house, was watching TV, or something while he'd been gone. He reached for the door, but, just as he was turning it, he could have sworn that he heard something on the other side...probably just the TV.

As he opened the door, however, the sound was much closer than the common area. It was from a phone, pointed in his direction, and as his eyes went to it, his face immediately started going red as he recognized what it was. Before he had a chance to say anything, a certain bubbly martial artist leapt from behind Violet and shouted, causing Vanyel to jump slightly, his foot sliding back and immediately taking a stance, despite his face turning redder than a tomato.

"What the fuck!? Kenichi, why are you here?! Did...Did you give her that video?!"

Once he realized who it was that had startled him, a hand went from the usual position in his stance to covering his mouth, as well as trying to cover as much of his face as he could reasonably accomplish. That stupid prank video, of all things, given to Vi! Well, he wanted to die of embarrassment now.

"Hehe, sure did!"

Kenichi returned her gesture with a grin and two thumbs up, relishing in Vanyel's abject horror. After pushing his imaginary glasses up, like the genius in an anime who had devised a well-laid plan, he chuckled heartily as he sat on the other side of the couch, offering Vanyel a slice teasingly as he looked at Drake in Violet's arms.

"Yea, Vanyel. How come ya never told me about your dragon plushie, huh? And here I thought we were brothers..."

As the shock faded, Vanyel sighed, still trying to hide his cherry-colored face as he closed the door behind him. Rolling his eyes, as he walked past Kenichi toward the couch, he punched him in the shoulder, rough enough to convey the irritation and embarrassment, but not enough to start a real fight or make him think it was anything properly malicious.

He set his jacket along the back of the couch, loosening his tie as he sighed and sat down next to Vi, but, as Kenichi sat down, he was promptly attacked both ends about why he never told Kenichi about the plush. Groaning, Vanyel brought his hands to his face, fingers pressed against his forehead as he lowered his head, eventually turning his head to Kenichi as he smelled the slice of pizza, causing him to wave his hand.

"Ugh...because I knew I'd never hear the end of it, from either you or Isamu. Besides, how the fuck was I supposed to do that? Say shit like, 'oh yeah, Kenichi, by the way, here's a stuffed animal I've had since I was four, look at how cute it is'?"

"Come on, you big baby. You know I would've said nothing but good things about your precious little friend."

Kenichi chuckled heartily as he patted him on his shoulder in passing. He didn't exactly blame him for not telling him, but it was still pretty funny to hear the background behind his little friend. Turning to Violet with an upbeat expression, he flashed a thumbs up, walking over to grab another few slices of pizza.

"I was! And now I'm glad I know you! We make for a great team of pranksters. Here's to hoping we can devise more pranks together like these in the future. Keep Vanyel on his feet. Whaddya say?"

Vanyel grumbled at his girlfriend and friend's logic. Even if it was true, he still wasn't exactly going to be the most keen about being a grown-ass man revealing that he kept a stuffed animal like that. Nevertheless, he scooted closer to Violet, quietly taking her hand in his as she changed the channel. Upon first hearing that Kenichi had come to basically interview Violet, he turned his head and raised an eyebrow, but, the look of suspicion cleared once Violet finished telling the story.

"This idiot doesn't have a lyin' bone in his body," Vanyel said with a snicker. "Trust me, he was tellin' the truth."

He turned his head back to Kenichi, sticking his tongue out playfully before turning back to Violet. "All jokes aside, seems like you two hit it off pretty well. Good."
