View Magnet (Santa/Leo)

"Leo Wheeler" | Wheel Of Fate
Oh boy oh boy! Wheel Of Fate was going to have all the ratings! Leo's producer, Blake had set up an interview with an Arancar! A woman named Santa, while Blake was out on a trip to Japan met her at a festival, and after a chat, they set up an interview! She'd be paid a pretty penny, honestly, he was surprised by the yes, but having an Arancar on the show would be great for the views!
The podcast itself took place at a studio, a large one with an office and a main recording booth, it was pretty standard, a table with two chairs one for Leo and one for his guest, along with the expensive recording equipment. Santa was the second segment of the show, Leo started with a general chitchat about sports and current events.
Eventually, some interns would inform Santa it was her time to head to the recording booth. A glass booth with the producers and other members looking in.
"Well, this next interview is a first for my career. So our producer Blake found an Arancar when he was out in Japan." Leo took a sip of his water, waiting a moment. "So I want to introduce, Santa." He waited for a bit to let her speak before starting their interview.
" So, Santa. A lot of people probably don't know want an Arancar is. What can you tell the people at home?"

Santa wasn't actually 100% sure how she'd gotten here. True, she'd been taking part in a festival. Amidst all of the hunting she'd been doing as of late with the lessons from Tier in mind, she still found the time to enjoy human activities, even when she was outside of the city of light. Ever the wanderer, she'd wound up at a human festival in the americas and some stranger had been watching her for quite some time. Usually people who stared didn't approach her, but strangely enough this one did.
It took a moment to understand just what it was he'd been asking, but once she realized she had accepted. After all she was familiar with Human television, and so why not offer an interview? There were uh... certainly much worse representations. But even more than that? She felt a rush in her chest at the idea.
The public's opinion of arrancar was something that was always tenuous. But an opportunity to be asked about stuff? It was an interesting opportunity. Not JUST to educate humans, but also to learn. what DID they think of arrancar? What sort of questions would they have?
When she was called out, she offered a warm smile and walked confidently to the man as she took the indicated seat.
"Thank you for having me! And uhm, well I admit I'm not really an expert on all of the science portions..." She paused for a moment as she took a moment and did something she very rarely did. She searched through Ajora's memories. "So, Hollows are something like people who have turned into monsters after they died. Their emotions cause them to change. An arrancar is when that same creature manages to regain some of their humanity. The mask that hides our faces breaks, and we no longer are controlled by our hunger." It wasn't the best, and frankly, Ajora probably would have used different phrasing, but she delivered it with a gentle smile and a calm tone.

Leo would do his best to fill in voids and pauses the best he could. The host would speak up as she paused to think about her answer. "Well, most people listening aren't scientists or anything like that. A general explanation is fine." After saying that he picked up his mug that read 'Number 1 Dad', sipping some of his coffee. He would stop for a moment and point next to Santa, who would have an unopened water.
Honestly, Leo would love to have a little small talk, but an introduction needed to come first. As she finally took his answer, he looked into the glass, then back at her, listening to her explain what she was. "So you're a Hollow with more brain? I know the people listening can't see, but Santa looks just as human as me or you."
His next question came rather quickly, seems he had these planned out in advance. "So, tell me about yourself anything you want our listeners to know?" He would start with simple questions to build some rapport before asking some more intense questions.

Santa raised her brows slightly at that before her smile grew slightly sheepish, chuckling a bit before she shook her head. "Well no. In fact that can be a dangerous way to look at things. Hollows can be very intelligent. Dangerously so. Its better to think of them as.... sick. Like a human that has rabies. As a hollow eats things, it can get .... a bit more controlled, and so it can act on intelligence a bit more. And some hollows fake being dumb. Their hunger is the major issue. Once that goes away, some of them can be even friendly. Some of them that is." She added in that last part, internally sweating just a little.
She had to be very careful after all. After all, Ajora had taught her just how dangerous lying by omission was. She needed to get the word out, but more than that educate people. The last thing she wanted was for people to get hurt assuming that all arrancar were nice. Or that hollows were just dumb animals.
She took a breath as Leo took his turn to speak, turning away from the mic, as she'd been instructed and taking a small drink of water before nodding in response to his next question.
"A lot of things! I may not look it, but I've been around a really long time. On one hand, I think that people can be a bit scared when they think about arrancar, and they have a good reason with some of the things that have happened on the news. But understanding is more important than being afraid. If there's one thing that I want, it would be for people to better understand hollows and arrancar. People should be prepared, so they won't be scared."

As Leo spoke, his voice was calm. It was clear he had years of experience with speaking. That being said he was only human, so he had very little experience with Hollows and Arrancar. After all, the whole purpose of this show was to let the general public know about what's unseen. "I can't say I've ever met a friendly Hollow. So I guess it is best just to avoid an Arrancar unless you know they have good intentions. Though that's a lot like people I guess you could say" He tried to tie their conversation back to a normal day.
Usually, Leo would have some wild conspiracy-level questions to ask, but not with Santa, as far as he was aware she wasn't a part of the Soul Society or the Vandenrich. "You know, I like your mindset. Fear is pretty big in the news. I mean have you watched it lately?"
He would sigh and sip his coffee yet again. "When I first got started on T.V. I went to haunted houses around America, and some of the stories behind the ghosts there were just horrific, you had manors that were owned by serial killers who murdered hundreds of people, and everyone in the area was terrified to even set foot in that house."
As Leo thought about the next part of his story, he felt a little sad, his facial expression visibly sunk. "There was this one that didn't end up airing. But this playground was haunted by this elementary school girl. When I investigated it turns out she was just a girl whose parents abandoned her and well... she couldn't find a way home." He sighed. "For every terrible ghost, you have one that's just lonely..."
"Sorry, as a dad that story chokes me up..." He paused for just a moment to gather his thoughts for his next follow-up question.
"So a bit more about you. Where are you from? Anything interesting happening lately for you?"

She chuckled softly at that and shook her head. "Hardly. It just depends on the setting. Treat an arrancar like you would any stranger. If you see one say... at a party or some other function, theres no harm in saying hello, but just be sure to keep an eye out for anything of concern. But if you say... met one out in the wilderness. IT'd be the same as meeting a stranger. Be cautious." She noted with a warm smile that shone through clearly in her voice.
Though as he shifted gears slightly she nodded. "I have. I actually don't watch it very often, But I do try to see whats going on. I like humans, and so I do try to familiarize myself with the things you do." She confessed. "Though its definitely a bit .... much. But I guess people use it incase they need to be careful of something, so it makes sense it'd be so uh... intense." She folded her hands. Having perhaps simplified the news, and certainly showing that she didn't get the deeper mechanations that were behind such programs.
However, as Leo shifted to a more personal story, she perked up and tilted her head as she listened to the story he provided. She did find herself feeling a bit bad for the girl. But in a more passive way. Such was the fate of many hollows, and a lot of spirits that were hunted fit that category. But seeing such a visceral reaction, she envied Leo. Though as he mentioned being father, she paused herself and gently clasped her hands together.
"I've always wondered what that would be like. Having a little one. It may be surprising, but I actually had a partner once. A human... sortof. A Quincy actually.-" She could hardly say what he really was. Or that he no longer existed, much less that anyone would remember him, or what he did.
"But we never really got to that point before he died." She noted softly, before giving that warm smile again, if softened a bit by the somber tenor of the moment. "I suppose you could say that Hollows are much like haunted places."

Like anyone else, that much was true, Leo had been to a fair few wild encounters. Though it was kind of his job to tell people about that stuff no? The host would laugh in agreement with her. “I’ll make sure to keep that in mind. Maybe if I meet one at a party I can have another fruitful conversation. It’s always nice to see different world views. Though I usually say that when focused on nationality not… species?” Was that the right term to reference Human and Arrancar? Race?
“I’d love to interview other spiritual beings. A Shinigami would be crazy. They’re always so… secretive, I’ve seen them fight Hollows before, but I’ve never spoken to one. Have you ever interacted with a Shinigami?” Raising an eyebrow leaning forward and looking at his Arrancar guest, sipping his water yet again.
“Yeah it’s a weird story, but it’s one I tell a lot, cause it shows that ghosts aren’t like what you see on the news and on other types of TV you know? I don’t think all of them wanna hurt you and what now.”
However, he was surprised to hear about her want for a child, Arrancar could… do that? He needed to consider his word choice carefully. “Arrancar can have kids? How does that work? Same as a human or is it different?” He placed his mug back onto the table, now leaning back into his seat to allow Santa the floor.

Santa smiled and chuckled slightly as Leo took the baton and kept the energy up in the conversation. She was beginning to get the feel that he was going for. Perhaps a bit more lighthearted? Hmmm. All the same, she listened as he took the subject and ran with it a little. Bringing the subject over to Shinigami and causing her to pause. "I admit not very often. I've been around quite a long time, so I've certainly met some, but usually not on great terms. It's only been recently that I've been able to meet on more pleasant terms." She conceded, filling the space as he took a drink.
"I admit I've really wanted to though. I do understand they are a bit busy, but still, it's nice to get a better understanding of things. I've learned a lot about humans this last couple years, but I haven't really had a chance to learn more about Shinigami."
As the subject shifted to his story about the ghost child, she was a bit surprised to hear that he didn't procreate. "Uhm... yes? I suppose it's not something you humans would know much about." She lightly toucherd her lower lip with a knuckle as she pondered over the subject. "But yes. Arrancar, and even Hollows procreate. Though we ... don't exactly hang out very often together. So I suppose even some younger arrancar might not know they can. It's not something we usually get along well enough to do. But it's happened, in the last hundred years I've even seen one or two manage to have a child with a human." She paused as she thought back to the memory. She vaguely remembered a shard of Ajora's research on the subject. But that was hardly something to bring up here.

Regarding Spiritual Beings, Leo wanted to press a Shinigami about their work, but that wasn’t exactly possible. He met that Quincy girl, whom he had to blur; however, it was good to build a friendly rapport, after all, if the interview went well and the audience liked Santa he’d invite her back. A complete win for everyone. Though her statement was really interesting, seems more friendly Arrancar were common than years prior.
“I think that’s most of us. We know the Shinigami are protecting us from the Hollows and whatnot, but I wanna know WHY” He folded his arms, leaning backwards in his chair.
It seems that he was a bit weirded out seeing that Arrancar could breed with Humans. What would the kid be like? As thought about it, he would move on to his next question. “Interesting. So you’re a mother? One parent to another~” He chuckled.
“My daughter is a handful. She has these phases of interest that are always changing.”
Leo would then take another sip from his drink. “Well. I appreciate your time. Do you have anything else you might want to add?” He placed his mug back onto the table, now leaning back into his seat to allow Santa the floor.

Santa paused for a moment at that and tilted her head, surprise written across her features when Leo made that statement. "Protect?" She ventured with curiosity, her voice laced with surprise that Leo would assess Shinigami's duties like that. A pause was given as Santa considered such an assessment. "I don't think that I've ever really considered Shinigami as protectors. IN some areas they're certainly more.... territorial? But outside of specific areas, many times they are simply oversight. Things have changed over the years, and perhaps in the last... oh... Five... hundred years? They do seem a bit more .... personally inclined to such things. But my usual experience with them has been that they really only keep an eye on things and intervene when they have to." She noted with a thoughtful pause.
On the subject of motherhood she gave a sheepish smile. "I'm afraid not, as I said, we never really got to that point. Though... my Sister did." Her mind shifted to Ajora's own past. She didn't quite consider that part of her own experience, so she ... played it off as her family.
All the same, as the interview seemed to come to its conclusion, she brightened up and gave a gentle smile. "I think I've gotten everything I wanted to bring up across! Thank you very much for having me. And for all of you out there please remember: Be safe."
