Re: Your Guard Was Down [Akira/Mirai]

Mirai Takamatsu
‘You should be getting used to this… He’s going to kill you…’ The bored, uncaring words of her own zanpakuto spirit served as taunted to Mirai. A reminder of her weakness, the lack of safety… ‘Shouldn’t have let your guard down…’ Her spirit mocked her no differently than a child bullying another on a play ground.
Mirai had never been much of a kido user in the first place, but when her power suddenly wavered, as if some small parasites were rapidly eating through her energy, she knew something was off with this guy. He was obviously fucked in the head, but his power… 'What the HELL IS HAPPENING?!' The panic was setting in.
Mirai found her Byakurai completely overwhelmed within a few fractions of a moment. Her own lightning torn apart so easily, his continued forward in a power stream. The instinct and desire to survive gave her the much needed boost to allow her to move just enough. It still hit her, but she stood and it struck her stomach.
The burning pain of his kido moving through her dropped her to the ground. She wasn't done though. She refused. She wanted to LIVE. On the ground, struggling every moment, a golden needle summoned into her hand, one of the previous disappearing. Mirai began to move, shaking as she went to sit up and stand.

AKIRA TAIRITSU
It was over? No…She could still stand…Barely at that.
Akira offered a soft exhale toward the woman, turning to fully face her now with a wavering smile as a pandora's box of emotional trauma began to froth forth. The soft shaking of the zanpakuto in the right hand, a slight hitch in his breath, a narrowed gaze with teeth that grinded against one another yet the most impactful part? The voice. It was…Tired? So very tired. He let this imagery of her sink into his retinas before a soft spoken lull reached her ears, though behind golden iris lay a vacant stare as a recollection of fond memories flooded his brain.
."One hundred years….Do you know how long that is to live in fear, Mirai? To awake everyday uncertain if your predators have found your den? That loneliness which throttles, finding your only company that sticks around is a fucking beast?”
He had to breathe for a brief moment, resigning himself for a moment to the following action.
."I’ll give you a fraction of the feeling Mirai, maybe It’ll carve into your mind enough to remember it after.”
It didn’t take a command nor glance, an orb shifted toward Mirai and intended to absolutely wrap her head within the salty confines, a rather horrific demonstration of both drowning and waterboading all in one. That intoxicating, smothering effect that regardless of how much one claws, it does not change a thing. It had always felt like the waves were just about to drag him under from all this anxiety, now she could feel it….

Mirai Takamatsu
Mirai could relate. The things he said about fear. She felt it. She felt that every single day. She was always wondering when someone scorned returned from years long past to stab her in the back, when the vengeful survivors of those she ended would recognize her face. Until recently, she had no company though. No friends, no enemies, no beasts. It was just her and the bored spirit within.
Mirai thought to move, she wanted to attack, but any twitch set of the pain and she was barely getting to her feet at the end of his speech. As she almost straightened her back to stand tall, water surrounded her head at the worst moment. She exhaled just before. ‘I’m going to drown?’ she thought as a burst of adrenaline let her move just two steps back. The water followed. She was drowning.
Mirai dropped her needle. Her reiatsu began to flare uncontrollably and released in her panic. She scratched at the water, trying, to get a grip on something that you could not hold. Another step back, another… another… She was still drowning. Her vision began to blur and blacken, but her mind... it went to one thing... one person.

AKIRA TAIRITSU
There was a brief moment of adrenaline that pumped through Akira before finally it began to dwindle from a whiplash against the core. It shook him to the core, a brief albeit unified symphony of voices from both Rivu and Zathrusta both.
."We do not inflict pain out of self gratification Akira.”
."Watch her squirm Akiraaa, this! This is what they all deserve!”
That internal strife finally broke him free from that feeling of power, causing his chest to tighten and a sharp gasp to follow momentarily out of fear. Fear of the idea that Zathrusta felt right for a moment, even a simple second and it shook him to the core. Only for the orbs to retract from Mirai’s throat and features, a glance to his blade alongside unspoken appreciation for reminding him of the path they walk. That internal entity though was less than pleased though lulled into silence.
."Our time is at an end Mirai. Hakufuku.”
A spark of amethyst cherry blossoms began to fill the Shinigami’s eyes, letting them fall softly around as she was forcefully lulled into unconsciousness, hazed memory of the small bout she just endured through Akira didn’t intend to let her die on these streets. The soft movement of going through her belongings and discovering the communication device to…Captain? Marvelous. A single photo with the address attached to it was sent, though not until after the white haired man was some time away and could ditch the phone into one of the many lakes of Japan. The current would do the rest….

Mirai Takamatsu
The pain of inhaling salt water was immense, burning down her throat and into her lungs. Finally, the water was removed, but not before she had almost completely blacked out. Mirai’s body hit the ground, not breathing for only a second, and then she strained to bring in a single breath, gasping desperately to fill her lungs. A single, pained cough and she opened her eyes and looked around until she found Akira. As she did, however, she heard the name of that fucking kido.
‘Shit… no,’
Mirai tried to fight it. She tried to push through even with her own reiryoku protecting her, but he had his title for a reason. The fear began to set in, realizing he was just going to leave her laying in the alley, likely to live just not to remember what hurt her, who hurt her... 'FUUUUCK.' As everything went black, Mirai's eyes closed and she fell unconscious on the ground, beaten and badly bruised.

YUUTO HISAKAWA | STORMSWORD
Creak.
The sound of the case of his Denreishinki being strained in his hand, and the sudden wave of pure, utter hate and malice across the Seireitei as, for a fraction of a second, Yuuto's spiritual power rocketed outward, was the signal that the message had certainly been received. The device was quickly slipped back into a pocket, and then, without word nor sound, his body flickered for not even a second before disappearing as he surged across the Seireitei.
Despite not wanting to, Yuuto begrudgingly forced himself to go through the process of properly registering for use of the Senkaimon. However, his very clear and apparent lack of patience in this moment seemed to spur others on to move faster than they usually would. Understandably so -- in all the time since his return, and even before then, Yuuto Hisakawa had never once lost his temper or showed any sign of anger.
Now, he was nothing short of absolutely furious. The instant he had the ability to, his body disappeared once again, hitting his highest possible speeds in under a second, lightning wreathing his body as he burned through the Dangai in record time. It didn't take him much time at all to be within the World of the Living, his body barely remaining still for even a second as he made his way to the address sent.
He searched everywhere to find her, and find her she did. Without a moment's hesitation, he scooped up Mirai in his arms, keeping her held close as he drew his sword and immediately made his way back to the Soul Society. His mind was already picking apart every single aspect of the scenario to try and figure out what had happened and who had done this. She'd been sent on an assassination mission, one that she would normally have no problem fulfilling and returning to Soul Society.
This had to have been targeted, especially with how hurt she had been. With how much she was on guard outside of friendly company, this wasn't an accident. For now, though, he just wanted to make sure that she was safe. Despite the fury burning in his eyes, he could feel his heart pounding rapidly against his chest, his breathing irregular as he made his way to the Second Division the moment he touched down in Soul Society again.
He had only felt like this whenever she was hurt -- the hospital bombing, when he was desperately trying to find her in the rubble, any time she came back injured. But, more than anything else, he didn't want her to leave his arms. Before now, he would never have come to this conclusion, but, now, he knew, without a doubt.
