Lies of Little Ladies [Kaminari/Tsubine/Mayumi]

“Thank you. I do appreciate that,” Kaminari said, taking a deep breath before looking down to Mayumi. She looked so much like her mother, it was both terrifying and ridiculous. Kaminari couldn't believe how much the child triggered her.

Mayumi pouted as she was pushed forward. She said nothing, but did a sarcastic curtsy before hiding back behind her dad. Kaminari raised an eyebrow, “Yeah, so I am almost like an aunt. Next time, try not to lie like that. You could have gotten someone killed.” A little harsh for a child, but Kaminari was serious. Mayumi’s eyes widened and she looked to her Dad as if to ask if it were true.

Mayumi looked between her Dad and Kaminari. Yeah, she didn’t like the blue eyed woman. She made Daddy scold her and she didn’t like being scolded. Mayumi pouted again and crossed her arms. "NO! If you didn’t make me go when I don’t wanna, then I wouldn’t of done the lie and none of anything would have HAPPENED.” Mayumi said, screaming like a brat in that last moment.

Kaminari was stunned, “Where are you making her go?”

Mayumi turned to Kaminari, “None of your BUSINESS.”

"Wait, to Kanna's grave, right," Kaminari shook her head, ashamed of herself and then looked to Mayumi. "Tell your father why. Yelling and screaming isn't going to do much if you can't communicate the why, Mayumi."

Mayumi just went silent and stared at the dirt.

Mayumi lowered her little head, sad and trying not to cry. She grabbed onto the edge of her dress and began mumbling something. The first time was definitely too hard to hear. Once asked to repeat herself, Mayumi looked up with tears in her eyes. “Going to visit Momma always makes you sad! I HATE IT!”

That hit hard. Kaminari took a deep breath and just watched the two in front of her. The little girl had some spunk to her; Kaminari wondered whether that was something she got from Dad or Mom. Who the hell was J? Either way, Kaminari felt bad for both of them, more so the little girl loving and protecting her Dad.

Mayumi curled her little arms around her dad for a tight hug, laying her head on his shoulder. After a few moments, she calmly pushed away and wiped her face with the back of her hands. “You gotta keep your promise or I’m telling Uncle J.” That was a bit of a threat, but there was another coming right after a deep sniffle. “And Auntie Kei. So, you can’t break it or you’ll be in a lot of trouble.”

Kaminari's sadness began to fade as she watched them. Glancing around, feeling a little antsy about what few people were watching, Kaminari cleared her throat after a bit, making sure to interrupt, but still catch their attention. "You're a good Dad."

Kaminari could deny her shock since it was plastered all over her face. It wasn’t often that someone just admitted, especially in front of their child, that they weren’t a good parent. And since she couldn’t confirm that, she decided to just leave that be. It felt like a conversation for someone else, like maybe this Jay and Kay that had been mentioned. And soon, they were being escorted to the graveyard.

Mayumi much more joyfully took her father's hand, his promise gluing to the walls of her mind. This was the last time she was going to have to go to the sad dead people place. She still didn't want to go now, but he promised, so fine.

"Goodness, I hope not," Kaminari shuddered at the thought of a civil war. She did not want this world to be torn apart in that bloody, violent, chaotic manner. Where the hell would she go if it was? Unfortunately, his attempt at brevity did nothing. "Some of the things I've seen feel wrong, very wrong," Kaminari explained. She didn't want to go into too much detail, but she hated that tradition, the bombing, unsolved murders, and an Arrancar in the Gotei told her things were all too chaotic right now. It was supposed to be a military and it was falling apart due to lacking standards.

"So who is Jay? And Kay? Did I happen to know them back then?"
