Re: Friends in Short Supply [Edelo, Natsumi]

Edelo was.......confused. Staring for several long moments at the girl as they seemed to grill him. Was ... this for real? Surely this was a jest. "The Olvide Group is one of the biggest shipping companies in the world.I ... imagine you can probably find headquarters in just about most major countries. And the CEO isn't exactly outside of the public eye, you're talking about miss Claudia Olvide right?" He murmured with slightly furrowed brows. After all, it was .... a huge company, even outside of the City of Lights, which got many of its supplies from the place, it was a very well known household name simply from the sheer number of products and places you'd find their name.
Certainly, she seemed to have .....an odd relationship with the company. Was this some sort of trick? Naturally, he made no indication of knowing anything further, that was simple common sense, but what was MORE mystifying was that this woman was treating the company like it was some sort of secret. Just where was this girl from?
"I don't exactly know about meeting them., but I imagine their websites probably have plenty of information about the woman, or contacting the company in general."

"Olvide?" Natsumi blinked. That's... not what she said. Was that another name for the group? Or was he the one mistaken here? "Claudia Olvide?" Natsumi shook her head. "I don't know who that is. Are you saying it's a big lady at the owner spot for the Duvalier Group? I'm confused now... I've never heard of the Olvide Group."
Natsumi turned to sit normally in the bench, instead of sideways. "I'll try a website then... Where does someone like me access a website? I don't have money or a phone or a computer... I guess I could break into one of those computer places at night... If no one is around..." Natsumi realized she was thinking aloud and stopped.
"Uh, ignore that... We're not friends so I can't joke with ya like that," Natsumi said and then laughed, though there were hints of the laugh being forced.

He winced slightly at that. "The Duvalier group. The individual running it is Miss Olvide. I honestly get the name mixed in. Sorry for confusing you." He murmured softly at that, folding his arms a bit before raising a brow and glancing in her direction, narrowing his eyes as he took a moment to scan her. Those special eyes peeling her away layer by later, checking her for any weapons or other items of concern. Of course it also meant seeing layers of skin and bone which was disgusting. But well, there would be nothing that escaped his notice.
"No.... There is a public library that has computers free and open for the public to use." He stated, his voice firm and more authorative, as if to ....discourage her from breaking into anyplace. A sigh escaped from him as he reached up and rubbed at his eyelids. "How old are you even. Are you here with your parents? If you need help getting to a computer, I can help get you to the City Library." He pointed out. This girl was definitely suspicious. Not just because of the Olvide stuff, but just her behavior in general. Was she an orphan? A Runaway? Or was she just short for her age and some homeless vagrant? Either way, it seemed that she had now become his concern, so he'd have to see about ...figuring out how to handle her situation. And for now, that meant making sure she DIDN"T have to go breaking into any places to get....whatever it was she was trying to find.

"Oh, that's a-okay." Natsumi said, forgiving the confusion he caused. Natsumi fell into her thoughts for a few moments. Anything he saw on her was normal. Clothing consisted of old stuff she likely pulled out of the trash or stole form random people. She has a few pieces of candy in one pocket. In the hoodie she wore was a rolled up magazine with the title "Common Traits of Hero Characters." She had no weapons, but tucked inside a seam under her cap was a piece of paper with addresses of different Duvalier Group spots that she had collected.
"Nuh'uh. I reckon gettin' to use a library means I gotta figure out how to I.D. myself. They's all locked up with codes and library cards are needed for that. I tried already. To get a library card, I need to be a person with another card: identification. I can't get me an ID when I don't know who I am." Natsumi said, letting that bit of information slip, though she seemed not to notice. "Gotta figure that part out, and the Duvalier the only people that may have that information. As I said... evil."

Was this for real? She seemed like she had not much but the clothes on her back. What was this woman doing? He furrowed his brows, a bit of concern on his face.
"The Computer Lab at the City Library doesn't require a library card, you can just take a seat and used the computer. I've done it myself quite a few times." He pointed out, drumming his fingers. At one point there might have been a system like that, but honestly, what were they going to do, prowl around the computer lab and card people? The cards usually were just for books at least so far as he knew. But well...this only became more and more confusion. She didn't know who she was? Did she have amnesia? And why did she think the Duvalier group knew? It was one thing if she knew nothing, but it seemed almost ...suspicious that this girl was so dead set on the Olvides. Well...any hope of NOT having to write a report about this young woman was quickly falling out the window.
"Look. I understand you're having a bit of trouble. So how about this? We go tot he library together, and I'll do my best to help you?" He ventured, his voice gentle, but not really patronizing. Really if she ran off that was fine by him. He knew what she looked like, and had a feeling that she didn't exactly have the resources to go skipping town. Honestly he was a little amazed she even got into the city. But that he could find out later. For now, he was going to try and limit the number of felonies this little gremlin had to bowl into on her little quest.

Natsumi's mood perked up at the offer to help her. She wasn't good at city living! Yet, at least. Frankly, she wouldn't be good at country living either. She had only been out of the lab a year and barely knew how to find a restroom to use. However, even with her raised mood, there was a phrase she didn't like that he used: "computer lab." It was the "lab" word that caught her attention most of all. Was this a place they did experiments on computers instead of people? Her definition of a lab was, well, limited to her own horrific experience. Either way, she'd judge it when they got there. "Okay, thinkin' we can go now, please?"
Natsumi's excitement only grew as they made their way to the library. On their way there, Natsumi always seemed distracted by the city, the people, new things she saw. In fact, she probably slowed them down by like ten minutes because she kept stopping to window shop or smelled something delicious. When they finally made it to the library, she stopped at the entrance. "Um, no doctors inside, right?" Natsumi nervously asked. "Labs are what the Duvalier use... I don't wanna be in one again."

Edelo certainly kept his reikaku on the girl as they started to head out. Well, that was easy enough. If nothing else, she could get a bit more of a background of information. A little sigh escaped him as he realized he'd probably have to show her how to use a computer. She wasn't THAT young. Honestly she was old enough it probably might be hard to actually teach her how to use one. Well, it was fine, the more info he got for his report the better.
That said, when she asked about doctors, he paused and glanced in her direction. Briefly bewildered before it struck him.
Ah, he'd called it a computer lab.
And at that moment, he broke out into a soft chuckle, smiling as he continued walking and shaking his head. "Not that kind of lab. It's just a space where a lot of peopl will do things like research or school work. Not medical or anything like that. More....investigation into what they're inerested in. Like you looking up the Duvalier group would be considered a form of research." He pointed out.
The trip itself was rather short. The library itself was...well enormous. The grand pillars looking almost greek. At least this entrance was a little fancy, it almost looked like a fancy government building. All the same, he'd lead her inside, a number of others in the area going in and out of the door. And making his way toward the computer lab itself. Making sure that Natsumi was following closely all the while. No way was he going to let her sneak off and cause an issue.

Natsumi looked visibly relieved when he said it wasn't the bad type of lab. She sighed and her shoulders relaxed. "Oh, good!" Natsumi's smile returned, "That means I could be a researcher? The doctors were sometimes called researchers, but the researcher doctors only watched. It was the experimental doctors that poked and gave medicine that made me feel weird, or even put machines on my head." Natsumi raised her hands above her head and mimicked the gesture of a large head-piece being placed on it. "I hated those. They were the worst."
The library was impressive, and felt way to fancy for someone like her to be in. Everything was clean and she was a dirty mess. It felt weird to think about touching anything here. As they walked to the computer lab, Natsumi's eyes caught a few colorful signs and posters. Even the floor in that section was nicer. She naturally began wandering that direction when Edelo asked her where she was going.
"What's over there? Why is it so different?" Natsumi asked, pointing in the direction of the colorful area. What she was seeing was the reading area for children, but they weren't at a good angle to see the sign that would signify that.

Well, he was beginning to see why this girl didn't know anything about the Duvalier group. She seemed to have the attention span of a wet rock. All the same, he sighed and rubbec the back of his neck, a forlorn smile on his lips as he began to follow the girl as she gravitated toward the kids section of the library. IT really was getting harder and harder to see her as an adult, and honestly? At this point he squarely felt like he was escorting a child around the city. He wasn't really sure what to do. She was probably too old to be put into an orphanage, but she clearly couldn't take care of herself. He struggled with that internally as she led him toward the colorful children's area.
"This is the Children's section. It has ... simpler books and activities that kids enjoy." He noted simply, glancing toward one of the shelves and peering. Slowly peeling away the layers and eyeing some of the books. The angle was a little awkward, but he could see generally the contents of some of the books facing him. Yep... fairy tales and all that sort of thing. Information books and catalogues of information that were softened for simple consumption. He wasn't really what to say about all that....lab stuff. It was a problem.
Not just because it was nonsense, but because this girl might inadvertently cause a panic. Even if it was ridiculous, a lot of people were tense and paranoid after the Kurosaki incident. The kids especially were ...impressionable. And so, very gently, he reached out and turned her back toward the computer section. The last thing they needed was a bunch of kids crying in the library about scary science people because of anything this woman said. "There's a book reading going on over there, let's not distract them He noted, his eyes now locked on Natsumi. Already primed to act if need be. He didn't care if she was telling the truth or not. If she started going on about those bizarre things near the children's section, he'd quiet her and escort her right back out of the library.

"Oh, that’s makin’ some sense,” Natsumi said. She looked around at the impressive number of books just in this section. She could read for years if she wanted too, but most of them were real thin. She preferred books about an inch to two inches thick. “Wonder where those are…” Natsumi mumbled as she was guided away from the children’s section. While she was definitely odd and a little scattered, it wasn’t malicious in any way. She was more like a curious country tourist who never watched TV and came to the city for the first time. Her actions were of ignorance.
“Oh, okay. I'll be shh,” Natsumi followed Edelo’s lead without problem. She looked up to him as he watched her so closely. Blinking a couple times, she tilted her head. “Um, I’m freakin’ you out, aren’t I?” she asked, slightly saddened and a little embarrassed. “I’m not meanin’ to, so just take me to the computer lab. Sorry.”
