Place to Fall Apart [Reida, Antonetta]

It'd been a while since Reida got to see action like this. Not fieldwork, she did that all the time. No, she was being assigned to interrogation. Normally, that old boss of hers would have handled it, but wouldn't you know it, he sure as hell wasn't here anymore, was he? Reida drank long from her whiskey as she read through the file she'd been given, her footsteps echoing through the hall.

Honestly, a lot of it was marked as suspect, and she hadn't been surprised every time her highlighter moved over something that seemed questionable. Most of their intel here came from this girl's sisters, after all, and even if Alastair might have trusted that Arlette woman, Reida sure as hell didn't. Running her eyes over the dossier one last time, Reida left her whiskey and the paperwork in a locker outside the interrogation room, and stepped inside the cell with a professional air.

"Good evenin', Miss Ovide. Name's Reida. I'm gonna be askin' you some questions."

She didn't think playing overly nice was gonna be the right approach for this one. Call it a mean hunch.

Waiting in a rather boring room, Antonetta sat with her super quincy handcuffs on her wrists. If they were anything else she might've been able to manipulate the spirit of the material and ask it to break or even just become more elastic to allow her to free herself. The youngest Ovide looked disheartened about the whole situation.

Was this what Eliane had in mind when she put them at the Vandenreich's mercy? Is this what Arlette wanted for them all? She stared at the figure of Reida who emerged as familiar as ever.

I should've killed you first. She thought to herself, vivid imagery of the woman in front of her being torn apart like a silly little mouse and the redhead's despair at the knowledge. How impossible the whole thing seemed for her.

"I do not want to answer any of them."

There was a degree of displeasure in the pit of Reida's stomach about this whole situation. She didn't really care much for this Duvalier business, if she was being honest. Reida wasn't the type to ever trust a big corporation like that in the first place, and she didn't trust its representatives, either. But she wasn't so jaded yet that she'd go right to violence.

"Why not? Your sisters've been cooperative."

Reida didn't need a pen and paper, or any recording material for herself. The interrogation room would take everything down for the official reports, and she'd remember whatever was important herself. She didn't feel like giving any indication of what she was noting, anyway.

"Exactly."

She answered back without a hint of interest. They were so cooperative, her dear (selfish) older sisters that knew what were best at doing what helped them the most. That's what all of them except her did, right? Mother and siblings.

"There's nothing that I can answer that they cannot, so there's no reason for me to answer any questions."

Antonetta explained with the same straightforwardness that she did when conducting business for her mother. Well, if the directions weren't with ulterior motives at play. Then she would use more unsavoury methods.

"Now that ain't entirely true."

Taking a seat, Reida's lone eye studied the woman across from her, her fingers idly tapping against the table for a moment or two. It wasn't a necessary tic, simply something to fill the silence as she watched the younger woman.

"They can't tell me your side of things. They can tell me what your mama does, why they came here, but I ain't interested in their reasons right now. I'm interested in yours."

Her fingers ceased their tapping, and she continued to speak.

"If I let ya out right now, what would you do? Go home? Try'n kill me?"

What would she do. She hadn't thought that far just yet. Antonetta was still recoiling from the way that Eliane had so abruptly threw everything away, giving it to the Vandenreich like a nice wrapped gift. It infuriated her. If she had taken it for themselves, so what, but to deliver them all to them. It made her sick in her stomach.

"I haven't thought about it."

She finally answered and remained unhelpful to the woman. Antagonising her like this was giving her some small amount of pleasure that she wouldn't show. It must annoy her to be met with the these answers.

"Mm. Guess that's fair."

Reida didn't exactly expect the woman to be cooperative, so it didn't bother her much to get a nothing response, least of all from a trained professional. Instead, she just changed approaches. As far as the file went, this one was the softest of the four. Reida didn't mind trying to use that kind of underbelly to her own ends here.

"Honestly, you're about what I expected out of the other two, but they're both more talkative. That a matter of principle? Or you just attached more to your mama?"

"Why don't you ask your boyfriend? He seems very intimate with my family, I'm sure they've told him all about me."

Antonetta answered back, bringing her bound hands up to rest her chin in them and lean over the table with a bored expression. A cat that was disinterested in whatever silly things its owner was trying to coax it into but since Reida hadn't done what she wanted by leaving her alone Antonetta didn't hesitate to try and find her interrogator's soft spots either.

She wasn't unfamiliar to her which had its advantages and disadvantages. Reida was always something she kept in the back of her mind as using to break Alastair into giving up Arlette when she was here on her assignment. Why would she care about scrunching up trash if it was just going to be thrown out eventually anyway.

"They probably have, yeah. He does spend a lotta time with 'em, huh? I'm glad he's got friends."

Reida'd been through much more difficult pressure than something like this. The last thing that would get to her in any meaningful way was something as rudimentary as the idea that Alastair might actually be seeing other women. He wanted to see someone else, he'd just tell her. She knew that firsthand.

"Course, you ain't one of 'em, I gather. Not a fan of redheads? Or you just worried he's gonna take 'em for himself, and they'll just toss ya in the dust?"

The file'd been pretty clear that she treated them like a family more than any of the others. In fact, the intel she had from both of the elder sisters didn't even use the word "family" except in terms of how Antonetta saw things.

"I have no interest in trusting a man like that. Arlette alone has killed Eliane more times than Eliane has molested me, and killed my cat for amusement. If a friend is someone I can choose unlike family then I don't think I'd pick someone like that so if he picked them I guess he must be like them."

Of course, she went out of her way here to give some liberty. She concealed her feelings on people and never vocalised that people were worth as much as the mice that her cats played with. Her actions might suggest it by the lack of remorse that she had when it came to hurting others but Antonetta played up her ignorance to it. The important thing for her statement was the disinterested way that she explained her own sister's bad deeds.

"I'm not worried he'll cause them to discard me though. That would be silly since Arlette already threw us away and Eliane put me here, I think it would be more reasonable to worry that he'll want to keep me too. Why stop with just two, right? There's still another couple he could collect for whatever benefits he could get out of it, Alastair must enjoy all of the Duvlier assets he's acquired from this situation. Us included."
