A Lesson In the Art of Kido(Hannah/Hiroe)
Sat Apr 02, 2022 6:07 pm
MIYASHIRO HIROE
Try as she might, Kido was not particularly a strong suit but neither was it a subject she felt dissuaded by. To ascertain a position in the Gotei and prove to her parents and mentor that she was equipped to be a member of the Gotei United, she was more than capable of standing up to the challenge. Even if the prospects were a little intimidating. Motivation could do a lot for a person. It could invigorate the soul and the spirit - and Hiroe was invigorated. Motivated. Prepare to face all challenges head-on. Walking through a class and setting her Asauchi down, Hiroe would sit forward in her chair, wondering if other students would arrive. These classes could be mandatory but of course, there were also opportunities to get a more hands-on experience if you were the lone soldier. Depending on the teacher, here was hoping she'd be the lone soldier.

Hannah stressed over clothing for a while before, with Daisy's help, just going in her casual outfit from Kokuyuteshi. Walking into the Academy as a teacher rather than student felt weird given how she was with Shinigami until very recently. But now...well, she'd do her best for the people.
There was no Zapaktou notable, only a small sword-necklace drapped over her Qipao, so people could definitely think she was not a Shinigami, if not for the gentle Reiatsu that waved over each of them.
"Good morning class. I am Hannah Chiza, from Lux Orior. As part of a bond-making maneuver, I have been called to teach Kido at the Academy" she would not look at anyone specific, and indeed didn't seem to look anywhere specific, being rather too blind for that. But it didn't stop her, as the chalk was lifted by some invisible hand and writing beginning to form on the board.
"Of the four arts, Kido is the hardest to do. And while pride might say otherwise, there is no shame in accepting a lack of skill or capability in it. It is an intricate art, with more danger than the other arts for failure"

Hiroe would see - no, feel the teacher arrive as she stepped into the classroom. Appearance wise, she was certainly dressed to impress as Hiroe - a young woman descending from a tailor's background - appreciated the red Qipao. Most teachers generally wore the standard wear. Cool stuff! Hiroe leaned forward to gaze at the woman as she opened her book to write down important notes and takeaways to study and mull over in her free time.
Before she did so, she'd take note that no one had arrived yet and decided to introduce herself waving before Hannah, unaware of the woman's inability to see.
"Heya, Teacher. I am Hiroe Miyashiro. There is no one here yet... but me. That said, It's a pleasure to meet you and I hope I can be a great student and make the best of my studies. Lookin' good with the Qipao, there, too!"

"I appreciate your enthusiasm, Hiroe" Hannah would reply, with a gentle and polite tone. And since it was only her and Hiroe, Hannah decided to try a touch of raport before jumping into the lessons. "And thank you for got compliment. I got it when I was in China. They had some lovely fashion there"
With that said, she would finish drawing on the board, and then hold out her hand, creating a Shakkaho within it.
"Now, Kido is an intricate and involved art. You first need to grasp your Reiryoku, the internal energy supply from your soul. Metaphysically, it is around your chest, though it is technically all around you and is you, for the basics of this lesson, it's in your chest. This flow of energy, much like your blood, is vital to life, and can be used to power many things; Kido being the most spectacular of these things"

"I hear China is pretty fashionable. When they allow us to go to earth, I would certainly love to find the place you found your Qipao." Hiroe would giggle softly before she redirected her attention towards the lesson. Observing the woman as she created a Shakkaho, Hiroe would raise her own hand out of curiosity, her other hand dutifully placing pen to paper as she maintained a steady pace in making sure she followed every step.
Whether Hannah was hands-on and would instruct the woman to make the attempt herself remained to be seen. It was possible, given the fact the classroom was without students. On the other hand, Hiroe wanted to make sure she could perform a proper spell for once. As Hannah stated, the unfortunate drawback of performing a haphazard kido usually resulted in the technique backfiring on one in the worst case scenario.

Hannah didn't want to crush the girl's dreams by telling her China was lacking horses right now, so would just carry on with the lesson.
"The drawback to this" Hannah continued "And the source of the difficulty, is that nobody can show you how to control your Reiryoku. It is internal and metaphysical, so there are no moves to show and no stances to learn. It's a wholly introspective thing that you must do on your own time. Lessons here are more to teach you the basics of what to do with it, the incantations of Kido, and to support you if anything goes wrong. Meditation is always helpful for this, and so I have brought some tea to help attain and maintain a peaceful disposition required"
Hannah would bring in the tray and put it on her lectern, milk and sugar provided but strangely, no water...

Hiroe would gaze at Hannah with an eager curiosity as the milk and sugar were brought out after hearing her talk about the meditative practice of kido. Hiroe had never heard of how tea played into any of this but her being a bright-spirited girl with her head in the stars, there was nothing that caused her to question it. Although... there was no water. The only things on her lectern were milk and sugar. Was this a different form of tea? Hiroe would rise from her seat to get a closer look as she walked over and wrote down further notes to ruminate on. She'd ask the question that had sparked her curiosity ever since these ingredients were presented.
"Teacher... there's no water here. Is this a different form of tea making?"

After ascertaining if Hiroe wanted milk added first and explaining the differences between the two, Hannah would nod softly.
"Indeed. It is the showing off form of tea making" Hannah said with a coy smile, holding out her hand. Pushing Heat and Wind, she gathered the air and strained the water from it, boiling it and pouring it into the tea cup. The cup, was then handed to Hiroe, and Hannah repeated the process with her own, taking a seat on a nearby chair.
"Tea is soothing, calming, and gentle. When one drinks tea, one feels civilized and less tense. And it is this feeling that starts the path to inner introspection"

Hiroe's eyes would widen in awe as she gazed at the woman performing the supernatural act before eyes, as heat and wind weaved the air, water forming as it was boiled and poured into the cup along with the other ingredients. Hiroe took the cup, gazing at it with starry-eyes as Hannah repeated the process with herself before moving to sit across from her as she gazed at the woman, listening to her next steps.
Tea is soothing, calming, and gentle. When one drinks tea, one feels civilized and less tense. And it is this feeling that starts the path to inner introspection
Hiroe was not what one would call a tea enthusiast but she was a tea enjoyer. Still, this process seemed to revolve more around introspection than it did enjoying a cup of tea. So, taking a few moments, she brought the tea to her mouth, let the warm liquid flow through her mouth, and took a deep breath, forming thoughts within her mind...

Life sucked. Most of the cool shit was 'do this until you get good at it' which was terrible for instant gratification. You could never tell when you'd get good at it, if you would get good at it. It was always a toss up, and some things like Kido couldn't even be shown the same way Zanjutsu or Hakuda could be. So when Hiroe started her internal flow, Hannah was silent, watching and gently sipping her tea. A support if needed, but not helicoptering.
