The Swing of Things [LYZA/ULV]

It would be wrong to say Lyza had fully expected this sudden attack from Ulv. An attack was what she was expecting, but the speed and force of this one single kick caught her so off guard that the rusty woman simply couldn't react. Her reiatsu wouldn't save her this time, leaving her to simply take the kick to the stomach and nearly crumple over from the blow. Lyza couldn't hold back her cry of pain as Ulv's foot connected cleanly with her stomach. Instead she simply skid back a couple feet and dropped to her knees.

What the fuck was that? Just taking her hands out of her pockets let her move that fast? Or was Lyza herself just becoming too slow. The brunette pushed herself shakily back to her feet and resumed her stance, though it was clear that strike had a pretty potent effect on Lyza's durability. The woman was panting in an attempt to catch her breath, but she was still standing. One hit like that wouldn't make her go down, but damn did she want to. Just for now though, she simply resumed waiting, trying to see if she could catch one of Ulv's strikes this time now that she knew what sort of speed she was dealing with. Part of her felt like that was a terrible idea, though, but there wasn't much else to do at this point.

This time Lyza caught it, even though it took Ulv putting more effort into showing off than the actual fight. A part of the brunette caught this, but she was too focused on not getting fucked up any more than she already was. Her right forearm raised itself to block the kick aimed down at her, and on top of that she managed not to go down from the sheer weight of it, albeit barely. Her stance shifted slightly to even her weight out more, but that proved vain as she completely missed the kick aimed at her hips.

Even if she had seen it coming, she had used the wrong hand to block and left that same side open to attacks. The blow threw Lyza off of her balance and back down to her knees all at once. This time, she wasn't sure if she should really get back up. What was the point in just being kicked around anyways? Was this going to make her more durable? Sure but what about everything else? Lyza scowled to herself as she watched Ulv move so fluently and flexibly, something that no doubt took years to master. Suddenly her will to keep going was lost, and Lyza felt like this entire venture was nothing but one big mistake.

...

'So that's it then?'

Suddenly Lyza lashed out at Ulv with a kick of her own, one that aimed to sweep her feet out from under her. It was fast, aimed precisely for Ulv's ankles, and with the momentum of the kick, whether it landed or missed or was blocked, she spun back upwards and quickly reformed her stance to prepare for the next incoming strike. There was something off, but Lyza didn't have time to think about it. This fight wasn't over yet.
