The Swing of Things [LYZA/ULV]

Sure enough, this seemed like the Ulv that Lyza was looking for. The way she spoke about Hayden and the Vanguard like it was that long ago was pretty indicative that she was someone who had been around way longer than Lyza herself. That was kind of to be expected though, given how quickly Lyza gave up on that militaristic lifestyle. "And he's still in all sorts of places of power now, so I'm assuming he's good at what he does too."

Lyza furrowed her brows not in frustration, but confusion as Ulv started to talk about the 'poor sap' in some detail. "Those are a lot of words I don't understand." She said flatly, almost like she didn't seem to have any interest in what the woman was saying. "No offense or anything, but I'm sure that'd be a lot more impressive if I knew what you were talking about." There was some respect to be had for both of these people but it was hard to have any notable amount of it when she didn't exactly know why either of these two were important.

"I just need a day or two of fighting, doesn't matter what kind. It's been a while since I've fought so I'm not picky." And then her fighting style was mentioned, and her brow furrowed further. "I... don't remember. I never really had any form, just raw balance, patience, and instinct. That's really I needed at the time."

Lyza sighed as this woman brushed her off as just looking for a fight. "That's not..." But she cut herself off there, not wanting to get too upset so soon into this little venture. What was she to say to Ulv to make her get it? "I'm telling you to help me get back in the swing of things, get critique, all so I don't have to get into a real fight just to relearn the basics. And you're... telling me to do that anyways?" She didn't quite get it, and it was kind of frustrating that this woman was already trying to undermine her efforts.

"I don't want to die the moment I step foot in Europe, since I'm likely already going there anyways. That's why I'm here seeking out a place that won't immediately kill me without remorse. At least I'll get a chance here, or rather that's what I was hoping for. Am I wrong, or...?" Lyza asked, the mental exhaustion already clear in her voice. It hadn't taken very long to get her feeling like she might have been mistaken in coming here. Ulv didn't seem like one to negotiate, more like someone who was concerned with their own values rather than someone else's. Or perhaps she was one of those 'prove your worth in battle' people? Lyza's mind was going wild trying to figure this woman out from the minute or so of interaction they had so far, despite it being clear it was going to take a lot more time before she ended up understanding even a little bit about this woman.

"Well, I'm sorry I didn't say exactly what you wanted to hear right from the beginning." Lyza sighing as she treads over to the equipment and starts to slowly take off her clothes... specifically her jacket and her sweatpants, revealing her not so revealing gym shorts beneath it. It took seconds for her to put the gi on, clearly having worn one before by how swiftly she put it on, and then plopped the headgear onto her head. It took only a moment of adjusting it all before Lyza turned to Ulv and started to walk over.

"A Shikai? You're a Shinigami, huh." Lyza looking at Ulv's release form and blinked a few times. "Sorry, I don't have any fancy powers or releases." Yet as she said that, the brunette felt something stir deep within her restlessly, as if some part of her denied that fact. It was faint, but it was there, and it most certainly wasn't the first time Lyza had felt it. Like every other time though, she simply ignored it.

Standing several feet from Ulv, Lyza lowered her body into what looked like a generic boxing stance. Shoulders relaxed, feet apart with one foot forward and knees bent. Her hands were held up ready to either go on defense or offense, perfectly shoulder height in case she needed to block either high or low. And to finish it off, as Lyza adopted this stance her demeanor shifted from nonchalant to steady and observant. "Want me to throw the first blow, or...?" She couldn't even finish her sentence, Lyza had trailed off as she was clearly already prepared for whatever Ulv might have in store for her.
