She was gone and she was going to be coming back... soon maybe. Hopefully.

The Danava of Matters had found herself with a matter of her own to handle. Rifts and cracks were forming within her family, within the demon race as a whole. While Inami was off doing her own thing in Chaya. She had not heard much from Mana either. Silvia had been left to her own devices. The little sister had no idea what she ought to do. There was one Asthavon in particular that Silvia had not seen in a while, technically two but she at least heard about Kuanastha but Nami was her own special case.

She had heard absolutely nothing about her sister who had seemingly disappeared from the conversation that she heard. Nami Asthavon had responsibilities, she couldn't simply disappear. While normally she would understand her sister's own desire for separation and her own space but to neglect her nation that she was in charge of maintaining was something that didn't sit right with her. Deciding to investigate Silvia had taken the time to travel to the quiet plane and investigate.

Naturally it was still the most peaceful kingdom of demon world. Unmarred by the chaos. Nami was no where to be seen and after investigating it a little further the young lass found that she had seemingly disappeared which left a power gap. What was the woman to do? She could respect Nami and let it remain the way it was. No doubt her sister would arrive in face of a challenge to her throne? But what happens before that? She could ask Mana or another sister to handle it. There was a third option though.

An opportunity to stand up and be an individual who acted on her own instead of just doing what her sister's wanted her too. Such an opportunity tempted her and filled her with a desire that she had never really felt. Granted she wouldn't dare cross Nami. She knew that to try and take the throne from her would only equal something she didn't want to see. To keep the seat warm however now that would be perfectly alright no?

The more that the thought played in Silvia's head the harder to was to resist and so it would eventually come to the present. Standing in the Vicara Planes while letting the news get around about her intentions. Would this encourage others to attack her? Ridiculous surely. To attempt to take Vicara from her when she had Asthavon blood would be to challenge the Asthavons. She was quite sure that she would not get challenged but life had a way of throwing a wrench into the works.

Song: To Zanarkand - By: Final Fantasy X OST - Word Count: 862

Kuanastha made it a point to secede from Shadow Fall for personal reasons, and no further explanation was offered to anyone--not even her closest sisters, Mana and Inami. This was largely due to Mana and Inami being the reasons she couldn't stay in the organisation; the alignment of Shadow Fall was to embrace the law of the jungle in civilisation. Their form of social management was total anarchy, and maybe for demonkind that was preferable--no, for the demons embracing Shadow Fall, it was ideal. Not everyone in Demon World held these views, but it didn't matter. Shadow Fall and their queens held enough power to force it on everyone.

This was something Kuanastha recognised, and consequently wouldn't contest. Not just because she didn't have the power to confront them, but because in spite of her being morally opposed to the aims of Shadow Fall, the love she felt for her sisters took precedence. It was to the extent that whilst she was still acting as a Banshee and Infante openly, Kuanastha defied her personal beliefs at the mere request of her beloved sisters. But, no more. Being controlled by the dedication of her love was tearing away at the demon visera from the inside, a level of cognitive dissonance affecting her mental health severely.

Her secession was in the aims of pursuing personal health, and fortunately this time away from her sisters and the organisation had done wonders to help her pursue and progress towards the strength and courage she needed to openly advocate her ideals, ones founded less on the chaotic unhinged freedom that her sisters supported in extremity, and instead something built on a balance, one where senseless chaos, violence, and lethal anarchy wasn't a threat on a daily basis simply because some powerful creature was arbitrarily passing judgement on the masses.

It was thanks to her mental state recovering and the progressive development of strengthening her morals and ideals that Kuanastha once more gained courage to re-enter Demon World; though, to be specific, something prompted her to do so.

Word reached around quickly, and despite Kuana's attempt to distance herself from all things demon, this didn't mean she lost her influence and connections. The news that Silvia had the aims of filling the position in Vicara planes left by Nami's abrupt and unannounced absence, and this was a piece of news the demonio visera couldn't let go. She stood by a stance of inaction for so long, and from her understanding Demon World was more troubled than ever before. She still didn't have the personal courage and strength to outright confront and put a stop to Mana and Inami's frivolous rampage, and she didn't have the confidence to not support them in spite of her personal feelings, as her love for her family often superseded everything.

But Vicara planes was outside their spheres of influence. They were a considerably more peaceful nation comparatively, the foundations left by Maujuda, their gap of leadership which wasn't a point of contention due to the people of the nation's sights not being so focused on political power, and Nami's following rule often constituted by passiveness and inaction to forcefully impose some sort of ideology on the land supported the lands from being consumed by the rise of Shadow Fall. It was, to the highest feasible degree whilst still being a major nation in the realm, a peaceful country, and it maintained this outlook even when Nami vanished.

So to insert oneself into her position, utilising the fearsome name of Asthavon, and exert control over the nation? In a sense, it was disgusting. So many people were always consumed by their desire for power, status, recognition, independence, and demon-kind seemed to prefer the method of forcefully imposing those desires on others as opposed to finding a sort of inner peace. For the one country of exception, Kuana finally stepped up to the plate. The balance maintained in Vicara would with absolute certainty be shifted if another Asthavon stepped in, and it was nothing against Silvia personally--even for this sister who Kuana hadn't interacted with as much as the others--blood and bond was blood and bond. Even if Inami had set her sights on Vicara, due to the nation's unique disposition, attempts to tamper with this delicate balance wouldn't be tolerated--this time, Kuana would have no exceptions.

In a way, this was also to instill confidence in herself, that she had the capacity and mental fortitude to defy her sisters instead of being controlled by her affectionate side, such that she'd bring harm to others and herself for their benefit.

So, for the first time in a very long time, the creature once feared in Chaya Nation as "The Roaming Death God" made her reappearance in Demon World. Kuanastha stepped through a tanagati which opened directly on the steps of the Vicara Queen's Manor. The classic exertion of death energy mixed with her volatile dimensional energy which even served to devour even death energy announced her arrival. In the past, when carrying out favours on her sisters' requests, this mixture always marked Kuanastha's presence in the city, and especially in Chaya Nation, where she most frequently stayed.

Everyone in this land would know exactly who it was that challenged the usurper.

Everything had been going smoothly for Silvia with her attempt to assert herself as Queen Regent for the Vicara Planes. It was actually going really well for the past few days of getting everything in order. People actually didn't seem to mind given there was no real imposing of Shadow Fall onto them, as far as the general populace were concerned it wasn't something to be hostile. While she could not deny the pockets of civil unrest she blamed her own incompetence for how she was handling the situation.

If she were bold like her older sisters she could've have straight up taken the place by force. Murdering those that would stand against her, create anarchy and chaos. She wasn't her sisters though. With the recent development in Sirsa Lands she didn't want to earn the same title as Inami and Mana. She was not them though. If she took the same route as they did she wasn't stepping out of their shadow, she was living in it. It was a matter of individuality as much as wanting to assert herself here.

That was something she was learning though. Asserting herself. There was a fine line she stood on. If she was too meek then it would all fail. If she finally crossed the threshold and embraced the hostile route then that would just paint her as any other Asthavon. It was a conflicting choice which would only soon be made more complicated with the arrival of Kuanastha.

She took a moment to look towards the general direction she felt the queer energy of her sister, a mixture of energy that was specific only to her. Silvia did not want nor need this right now. Did she come as an envoy of Mana or Inami? Perhaps even Nami as doubtful as it was. This was a wrench in her process she had failed to take into consideration and only added to the headache she had.

Am I a failure? Shouldn't it be natural for me? Royalty is in my blood and yet I feel like I am doing it all wrong.

She had struggled with these doubtful thoughts over the time she had spent here and she couldn't avoid her sister. She was right there after all. All she could really do as she walked out to meet her kin was try and get rid of the weariness from her features at the amount of time and mental energy she had invested in this endeavour. When she had finally done so she made her presence visible to the other woman.

"Kuanastha. What a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?"

Her words were polite but there was undoubtedly a hint of irritation in her tone at this situation. She didn't want complications and her sister, as much as she loved her, was here at a terrible time. She did hope it wasn't to contest her. That wasn't Kuanastha's way was it? She wasn't that close to her sibling but at the same time they both served their older sisters. Was this the Visera Demonio's own attempt at stepping out of the shadows? What a drag.

"Kuanastha. What a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?"

The tone of irritation in her voice didn't escape the visera. But the matter wasn't at the level of which mere irritation was a factor in the way the flow of events would sway. In fact, Kuanastha returned a voice of irritation, albeit more somber and earnestly pleading. Her conveyance had a similar sense of weariness, although the usually expressionless visage of Kuana stayed as it always did.

"Don't do this, Silvia."

The energy Kuanastha exerted decayed until none of it flowed out of her. The point of flashing her energy was to signal her arrival specifically and efficiently. Despite the general aggressive attempt taking place, Kuanastha wasn't specifically here for a violent occasion, although she made efforts to mentally steel herself as best she could in anticipation. The demonio drew closer to her sister, her voice growing quieter as the distance closed in.

"I am--for once--very adamant about this; please don't plague another nation with the Asthavon curse."

Finally, Kuanastha's expression changed, though all she offered was a furrowed eyebrow.

"It's not worth the effort, and I firmly believe--even if it was within your power to do well here--the circumstances around would not bode well for these lands, and regardless of our efforts, our name will drag Vicara into chaos."

The Asthavon worried whether what she said would be reached. Kuanastha had great speechcraft, but that always applied to manipulating her opponents and controlling a situation she wasn't personally vested in. Silvia was not her opponent, she was her sister. Words of pleading were foreign to her, and a bit of anxiety welled.

"Don't do this, Silvia"

The conversation was already off to a bad start. She opened with words that Silvia didn't want to hear and she looked down as she was approached by Kuanastha. There was conflicting emotions that it brought. Her love for her siblings and the fact that it was her family telling her that she shouldn't be doing it made it matter and she took it to heart. That in itself was part of the reason why it was taken so badly by her. She let her speak her thoughts. Flinching at the way she referred to the Asthavon as a curse which didn't help the situation one bit.

She took a moment to reach out and embrace Kuanastha, it was simple and short before she pulled back looking troubled as she said her next words.

"I'm sorry... but I can't. I've begun this and I cannot stray from this cause. I want to do something. I can rule this place well. I have put too much effort and work in to stop Kuanastha. You must understand, I simply can't."

There was a sombre tone to her words as she slowly moved away and looked into the distance.

"I am trying my best. I am trying to be as good a leader as possible and be like Nami was. You don't think I can do it?"

It was a simple question but given to her sister as something she wanted to hear. She wanted to hear her say she didn't believe in her ability to be a Queen of a demon kingdom to at least feel justified if she felt she needed to prove herself to her. If neither would back down all she expected to see from this was a fight which she didn't want. It was the last thing she wanted to deal with on top of what she was already trying to handle with what she wanted to be a pretty simple take-over.

Silvia's sudden embrace was entirely unanticipated. Kuanastha, in all her rumination and anxious nerves, was fully preparing herself for some conflict. So some affectionate action was outside her grasp, in spite of all the overthought contingencies that ran through her mind. And it wasn't just the affectionate embrace, but the painful wordss.

When Silvia ended their hug and distanced herself, her troubled visage was as painful as the presumptuous thoughts that Kuanastha would have to fight her own blood. All this time, she--whether aware of it or not--had projected her perception of the generally battle-hungry Mana and Inami onto her own sister, who was her own person. Silvia was an individual, not defined by her surname, but by her own actions--and this stunt... no, this ambition, to make Vicara her own and do something with it, to what Kuanastha assumed to be a proving grounds for Silvia--this was an independent circumstance.

Unfortunately, the Asthavon name interfered with most things, whether it was desired or not. The efforts Silvia put into Vicara planes, to lay the ground work for assuming regency--Kuanastha didn't know of her sisters vision personally. The efficacy of her plans and realism in her goals, it was all ambiguous to the hybrid at the moment. But she knew, it wasn't about whether Silvia was capable. Kuanastha convinced herself that this too was her love for her sisters coming into play. It was her protective instinct, and for the first time in a long time, it could finally align with her actions.

"Silvia, my dear sister. That's not what I mean to imply. I believe you can do it. I believe you are someone bright, a sister I'm sure I can be proud of when she decides to make the world know her name. But your rule here is not a matter of you being capable. It's a matter of your safety. Putting yourself in the forefront here, assuming the position of Queen--in these times, it's not a position of power and responsibility. It's a position where your head is now on a target, and that the coming waves of war will inevitably wash over, and you will be someone people seek to make a casualty, and I don't want that. I don't want you to be targeted, and I don't want the people of Vicara to suffer because their queen was the target of arbitrary malice."

Kuanastha took Silvia's hand and clasped it inbetween her own, looking into Silvia's eyes, now begging her beloved sister.

"Please, Silvia, I don't need to lose any more sisters."

Her eyes looked over the planes for a little longer while she dealt with this conflict, Kuanastha made valid points. That much was undeniable to her and with them made she couldn't help but acknowledge that she was wrong to assume her sister's intentions for being negative. It cracked her resolve further to mull over the words. After a brief moment her jade gaze slipped back towards her sister while she adjusted her glasses slightly.

"Is my head not already a target? Aren't all Asthavon's targets in the politics of this realm? Kuanastha if not me then what other Asthavon. If I do not do this then it's only a matter of time before Mana or Inami need to assert the name onto the Vicara Planes and if Sirsa was anything to go by, this is the best route isn't it?"

She looked at her for an answer. Knowing full well if Kuanastha wanted to prevent this then she'd force a fight. She didn't want to be known for just appearing and playing queen for a few days before stepping down. Her reputation would be ruined, she couldn't even if she wanted to but she needed to test her sister's own resolve as well. She looked down at their palms for the next few moments.

"I suppose... even if I wanted to step down sister. I can't. I couldn't face my family if I simply gave up. Surely you must understand. We're not the same. I can't walk away like you could. If I was to just back down I couldn't live with myself knowing I would look like a joke for a thousand years at the very least."

Leaning in she pressed her forehead against her sister's and closed her eyes for a minute while thinking about what to do next. The more the two interacted the more she felt like it was reaching a stalemate that could only be resolved with a fight which neither wanted to occur. The thought of simply attacking her crossed her mind but it was difficult for her. If it were anyone else she didn't care about then a ruthless attack would be easy but to do something so beguiling with her own sibling was something she didn't have the gut to stomach at the moment.

The words Silvia spoke were truly painful, because she wasn't wrong. Queen or not, all Asthavons had a target on her head--Kuanastha knew she was going to be attacked, even after publicly separating herself from the Asthavons and Shadow Falll. Maybe the organisations, people who put meaning on honour wouldn't walk to her doorstep, but there was undoubtedly people who were more underhanded... and though Kuanastha honestly detested that, she understood it was a matter she'd have to confront by nature of her blood. It was the one responsibility she couldn't run from.

But Kuanastha was adamant here. Her having even confronted Silvia, finding hope in the silver lining that was the fruition of her moral code for once aligning with what she had to do in the best interest of her sisters--it all served to fortify the Demonio's confidence in herself. That she actually had an opportunity and force of will to do something here and assert herself. Maybe it was selfish, but it really was for the sake of protecting her sisters. Maybe it was overprotective, but there were too many times where Kuanastha looked away, and when she turned back another sister was gone. Like Silvia, it was a point of conflict in her heart, but still something she couldn't back away from. Not just as a matter of principle, but a matter of practicality and protection.

"Vicara Planes doesn't have to be ruled by anyone; no-one is demanding that someone owns these lands. Even in Nami's absence, Vicara continued to flourish. You're right, it's only a matter of time before either Mana or Inami sets their sights on these peaceful grounds, but it's at that time, we should step in. I love you sisters, more than anything, but it's also important to value the many lives we've put and will potentially put at risk to satisfy our whims. When either of the two come for Vicara, like I am here today for you, I will be here that day for them. You can even be there with me. We can protect the people of Vicara together, without having to assert it as your dominion."

The more Kuanastha spoke, the more she felt reassured, as the words made sense to her. If she hadn't been fully self-confident before, she was entirely convinced now. Even when Silvia said she wouldn't back down--that she couldn't back down. Kuanastha understood that, to be honest; pride was silly, but something being silly didn't mean it wasn't important. Especially for a Queen. A Queen should act with dignity. And if things were as they were, so be it.

"I... understand, Silvia. You're right. You can't back down, not without someone out there, ready to ridicule you. Our family isn't just a target to attack, but one to politically deface, and this would be an open invitation for them..."

Kuanastha gritted her teeth, now prepared to make a more aggressive proposition, one that she wasn't fully prepared to perform, but one that she was committed to... If it had to happen, it had to happen, to save face and save lives.

"If... if you can't step down, I'll make it easier for you... Will this make things easier for you?"

A pained expression crossed the girl's face as that oh so familiar aura of death energy coalescing and being eaten away at by her nether energy started to seep from her body. Kuanastha moved the position of their two foreheads touching, taking a halfstep back before lifting her face and kissing Silvia's forehead.

"Please... please let me know if there's another way, because I truly wish there is."

"I am a demon... it's in my blood Kuanastha. We're creatures of negativity and darkness. I can't help my want to rule. The need to control. I am not like you in that regard. I'm sorry."

She leaned in closer and let the words hang in the air. She was well aware of her nature as a demon, understood the demonic desire to subjugate especially when she was a royal demon. It was part of who she was. It was also part of her she accepted and acknowledged, she didn't hate herself for it but at the same time it did not control her entirely like she felt it did at times with her other sisters.

"I can't run away. I have to fight and I have to try my best against you. Whether I win or lose against you. It's the only way sister."

The kiss on her forehead prompted her to embrace her again quickly before backing away and letting her energy exude from her. She didn't hold back any of it like she said she would not. She was bound to do so for the sake of her own pride but the regret on her face painted a different story to what others might come to expect from the energy signature she was releasing.

"I shouldn't have done it, I'm truly sorry you had to come back like this."

She looked away for a brief moment before continuing thought.

"I missed you though, everyone's off doing their own thing you know? Everything feels so.... divided."

Song: To Zanarkand - By: Final Fantasy X OST - Word Count: 561

In all honesty, Kuanastha hadn't accounted for that. She hadn't really accounted for the demonic impulse that was a part of their blood, that demanded--especially as royals--to be at the top, and to rule their lessers. The girl had for the longest time, specifically been fighting these racial impulses--her impulses in general. It worked, for certain, but as a result, it made Kuanastha forget that not everyone denied their demonic side. In fact, many people embraced it, and found pride in it, and like she said earlier, pride may be silly but it was still important. It was something she hadn't ever thought about these past few years of cultivating herself. And for that, she was very sorry to her sister... But as the two of them came to assent to--this wasn't something they were willing to back down from.

In fact, at this point Kuanastha even felt a bit shameful. When Silvia said her piece, when she conveyed with pride that she was a royal demon and that not only was it in her nature, but in her intrinsic desire to be in this position, Kuanastha earnestly could not relate. And in that sense, she began to feel like a part of her was lacking. It was something stuck in the back of her mind, that she couldn't help but mull over, but that wasn't the pressing issue presently. Kuanastha had said her piece, and Silvia said hers. Clearly, this was going to happen, to both of their reluctance.

Silvia's one last embrace after Kuanastha's kiss was heart-wrenching. But it was appreciated. That last hug helped the demonio resolve herself.

"I, as well, am truly sorry that I came back like this as well. But, this time, I intend to stay. For myself... for the sisters... for you."

Similar to Silvia, Kuanastha's expression was pained, and alongside that pained expression came the coalescing demonio visera energy gaining volume in her palms. Silvia's final words, asking how she'd been, and that she was missed.

Ah... There it was. That was what she was feeling now. She could finally really put a name on it. Something Kuanastha was feeling this whole time: guilt.

"Yes... things do feel divided. But, hopefully, no more. This, I pray, will be the last instance. And, I think I've been doing okay, but I now realise the place I should be--where I belong--is not in solitude on a pilgrimage, but by my sisters' side. From now on, and forever more."

The growing masses of energy reached critical volume in her palms, and by the end of her words, Kuanastha took distance, taking to the skies to ensure that there was time to react to her upcoming strike. Her intentions were violent, but not malicious. The demonio extended her hands before her, unleashing the built up energy forward as a Cero Rastro formed, the energy tunneling through the approximinate 50 metre distance between them. It howled and ate at the air it ripped through. Though the strength of these first two blasts were by no means weak, and Kuanastha hadn't a superb understanding of Silvia's power established, she had full confidence that her sister wouldn't be immediately incapacitated. The issue was that the demonio didn't know for sure what level of difference existed between the two of them; these preliminary attacks would serve as a good reference point.
