The Vanguard [Rebirth]

The main body of the Vanguard's positions consists of Five separate squads, disregarding the two higher-ranking areas of the Organizations. Despite there being a set number of squads, there are positions that can be created specifically for a member depending on their request and actions towards said position's job.


The retired title of Arishima, Genpaku. Prior to retirement, the position represented the Leader of the Vanguard; they were in charge of any and all actions or major decisions with regards to both the organization and the safety of the Earth. Essentially, this individual governed the Vanguard, leading them and instructing them through battle while having the final say on any major decisions that were set to take place.


Because of the change in hierarchy, this position now leads the Vanguard. The individual who assumes this position can still have his decision overturned by the Commander, should he chose to come out of retirement. Similarly, if the four Wardens of Earth are in agreement with one another and choose to oppose the Regent General, their combined decision can overturn his major decision.


As it would mean when referring to someone's being, the Shadow to the Regent General is forever in constant contact and relations with the current Regent General. Studying under the man or woman that are currently leading the Vanguard, the shadow is expected to learn and gather wisdom from the leader to shape their own view be it in agreeance or disagreement with the leader. Considering the special nature of this position, it is outside the influence of the many officers within the Vanguard they are not to have authority over anyone is this is a learning position. They stand beside the man in both battle and political talks, otherwise in constant training to determine if they are fit to replace the regent general if deemed appropriate.


During Genpaku Arishama's creation of the Vanguard, the position known as a Warden was opened to four specific individuals. The Wardens are normally considered the general or protector of their region, each Warden being placed in a large area of the globe in order to protect humans and any other races that may live among that area. The only thing that can cause a Warden to be removed from their position or have their actions be terminated is the Commander or Regent General themselves.The Wardens' final duties are to act as both the protector of their region and a personal advisor to the Regent General.


The Unknown was originally formed as individuals which Azure placed an extreme amount of influence and power in. However, upon Hayden having taken the mantle he enacted changes to redesignate their duties and ranking. Firstly, the original rank of them on the level of Warden has been reduced to that at the level of a Squad Commander as to not make the Vanguard too top heavy. Secondly, they still are personally selected by the Regent General to undergo specialized training to further prepare them for this position. Thirdly, they now act as specialized commandos to act within the Vanguard name but in the shadows. They have a lot of choice in how they wish to serve the Vanguard be it managing their supernetworks secretly or acting is a hidden messenger for them. They still hold a great deal of mutual respect with the Regent General but they cannot override a decision of his, they are now permitted to have a small sect of people to aid them that may have knowledge of their position and duties. Finally, they will still receive the unknown mark with its function to share information, knowledge, ideas, and their location. The symbol is as followed.

The five branches of the Vanguard are assigned to special areas of their expertise with specific tasks to follow. Under each branch people may be put through different types of training, living conditions and orders depending on whether the branch is based on this or that. The branches with their names and objectives are as followed.


The Boros Guard is a section within the Vanguard that are specifically meant to take care of protecting and defending both Sukai Karakura and Karakura as a whole. Being stationed at all times within the Vanguard Headquarters, the Boros Guard aren't meant to truly leave the area much. Given that the entire guard is based within Karakura and its outlying areas, the never seems to be a shortage of those that are ready to defend the city at any costs. Constantly patrolling the outskirts and innards of Karakura City, the Boros are always on the move when it comes to protecting those that currently live within the city's limits. Upon entering the Boros Guard, all members are allowed to take a title if they wish to represent that they are one of the members that protect those within the city. While this is the case, the Leader is Given the Title First Sword while the Second in command is dubbed the Second Sword. Ranks beyond that may also claim a similar title if they so choose.


If the Initiative could be compared to anything, it would be that of a perfect army of combatants. This branch of elite fighters and jockeys from left to right, hundreds of people going unnamed in the branch itself due to being simple foot soldiers. The entire premise of this branch is to be on the battlefields, forcing their way through any battles or wars that may exist on Earth's soil. Being meant to fight, those who are within this branch are known for their expertise in martial arts, weapon fighting, and skill usage. Most people that end up joining this branch go through months of boot camp and training sessions, specifically gearing up the members in order to fight for any territories that the enemy tends to take over and to withstand the heat of any battle that may come to their feet.The Vanguard in the past used this resource rather forcefully however they have taken a new approach.The Vanguard has dedicated to training their soldiers as a unit, deploying them tactically and strategically to maintain control in territories. This new approach was adopted to help prevent the heavy losses sustained in encounters like the Iceland Conflict and The Battle on The Moon. The leader of the Initiative is dubbed the Vanguard’s Master of Arms while the Second in Command can be addressed as the Major of Initiative.


The Great Minds of the Vanguard are held within this branch of its activities. The Combine is considered the Research and Development portion of the Vanguard, working towards creating machinery, items and electronic devices or systems that may aid the other forces within the Vanguard's ranks. Being noted for creating some of the defenses and buildings within the Vanguard's possession, the Combine is meant to support the Vanguard in each and every single way possible. Whether its creating attacking tech, defensive mechanics, support items or working on gaining specific abilities or skills that may be taught through the fighting ranks, the Combine do everything and more. The Combine is staffed by the brightest minds of the world and the Head of the Combine is referred to as the Lead Researcher while the second in charge is deemed the Senior Researcher.


These secretive and rather sly individuals could be considered the equivalent to the CIA or even the NSA/FBI in real-world terms. Sharing the qualities of gaining information from those that may be currently held within the Karakura jails or any amount of recon missions, the Dimir are meant to gather and archive and data and intelligence that they can gain throughout the world. While being short in number, the agents that reside in this Branch are either spread off throughout the entire world or are gathered in a singular place. That singular place is meant for any governing talks and peace talks with others throughout the world. Going from here or there in order to be the media face for the Vanguard aside from their leader, The Dimir are top notch when it comes to their current standards and abilities. The single leader of the Dimir takes the title of Lord Of Whispers while the co-leader takes the title Arbiter.


Every organization has users that specifically trained with magic, kido, or anything of the magical variety. Here in the Vanguard, those who train in such a field happen to be stationed within The Arcanists. Being the leading magical users within the Vanguard, the Arcanists are meant to create, use and archive the usage of any Kido, Demon Magic, Chi, Chaos Moves, etc. in order for the Vanguard Members of all races to use. Those that are stationed within the branch itself normally have extensive knowledge and strength in the arts of magic usage, those that come from every race normally sharing what they know of that races magic. The main leader of the Arcanists takes up the title of Archsage while his or her Second-In-Command takes the title of High Battlemage, other members being able to take specific titles depending on their magic if so wishing it.





The entire premise of the Vanguard being created was in order to protect Earth as a whole. Before their creation, they were previously considered a subdivision of the Gotei Thirteen, formally known as the Special Human Task Force. Genpaku Arishama, the originally Commander of the Vanguard, had taken it upon himself to section off from the Gotei Thirteen. During events that unfolded during Madrid's time in 2411, the Special Human Task Force was officially removed from the Gotei Thirteen and were renamed as the Vanguard. Their purpose from their on was to create a political and safe state for Earth, strengthening its defenses and defending those that may need it.

The original image created for the Vanguard was for 'A group of leaders and individuals that would soon pave the way for new developmental technologies and ideas.' Due to this being the entire purpose of the Vanguard's creation, in Genpaku's time, it was enforced without question, those that were to deny it would simply be removed from the man's leadership. Upon the directive being found, Genpaku spent a large amount of the Organization's first months recruiting some of the most intelligent and bright minds among the realms. Each man and woman that was recruited were there to defend Earth without fail, which is what Genpaku believed was the best he could do for the humans and other races among Earth's surfaces. However, as of late, before the current Regent General had taken up the mantle, the Vanguard has fallen out of grace with those among Earth's surface. That was soon to be changing.

The Secondary Mission for the Vanguard upon their creation was that they were to be a medium for the Spiritual Nations of both the Soul Society, K-World, and Demon World. Along with that, they were meant to make sure all needs, wants, and concerns were swapped back and forth between Earth and the Spiritual Nations in question. As of late, there has been a little talk between the nations, which is soon to change.

After the retirement of the Commander, a new individual assumed the new leadership position. The individual, Izanagi Shinsui, took it upon himself to maintain the organization that was founded by a respectable individual; the Commander position was retired with the one and only individual to hold the position being Genpaku himself. The new Regent General reinforces the same principles that were originally set out by the founder of the organization; the primary objectives of the Vanguard remain the same while the key stepping stone in the organization is addressed, recruitment.

After Izanagi Shunsui took up the mantle of Regent General, upon Azure Iramasha entering as the North-East Warden, there began talks of the position being reopened in order for Azure Iramasha to take up the mantle. After months of hard-hitting questions and ideas being swapped carefully between the two men, Azure was indeed requested to take the mantle up without much choice. The man did so with no qualms, making sure that the future of both the Vanguard and those that walked Earth's terrain would be a bright one.

Towards the summer of 2416, the Vanguard would be met with tragedy, Shadowfall would launch an open attack on the Vanguardian Moon Outpost leading to a massive showdown between the two powerhouses. In this conflict, untold damage was inflicted on both organizations, with Vanguard losing it's loved leader Azure Iramasha. Following the events, for a small collection of months, the Vanguard would be leaderless till an election was held with at the time Major Desmond Hayden being selected as the new Regent General. Thus a new era was ushered forth for the Vanguard. However, even that was not to last. After a lengthy self-reflection, Desmond relinquished the title to the former Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, Tsubaki Koezuka.






The Immediate Response Transit System(IRTS), a system devised by the Research and Development Bureau which generates Waygates between two points in order to get from A to B quicker. The series of teleportation gates were reverse engineered from Shinigami Portals and Modern Technology. Practically, it’s connected to every major state or city around the world allowing fast transport for Vanguard agents and troops.

Additionally, white energy signatures are scattered around the Sukai Karakura base which is activated by the Regent General in terms of emergencies, in the case of an activation, the areas glow white and are configured to specific individuals and so when the individuals it’s configured to enters the area, he/she is almost instantly transported to another, marked location.


The Vanguard Badge is unique to each member of the Vanguard but can be distinguished by the distinct crest. It’s required for all members to carry their badge with them at all times. Although the Vanguard Badge is unique to each individual, its authenticity is blatant and those who attempt to use fake badges will be caught out instantly. The Badge bonds to the Genetic makeup of the individuals who it’s given to; the Badge acts as both identification and uniform as it allows the members to access all levels of the base based on their clearance. Stealing another members badge will be ineffective as the genetic composition of individuals varies so the badge wouldn’t confirm the new wielder as its owner.








The Vanguard's current Main Headquarters reside within Karakura itself, specifically the Sukai Karakura area. The Base itself extends from underneath the entire interior of the city with an increased guard around all of the reactors and areas within the Organization itself. Above the area, the headquarters have small stations throughout the entirety of Sukai Karakura to act as outposts for people to go to and give information or request help among the uplifted city itself. Aside from these small stations littered throughout Sukai Karakura, there remains a single, large skyscraper in the middle of the small stations. This building consists of all those who work for the Vanguard that lives within Karakura's limits, being used by The Combine and Dimir greatly, along with the Unknown and Leaders of the Vanguard.

You read it correctly; accompanying the city that has been built upon the moon a detachment of the original Special Human Task Force was sent to them and later set up a way gate within the city. While Vanguard’s major priority is still Earth, it has not retracted its members here should the city come under attack.

Due to the Battle of the Moon, the moon base was severely damaged and has been undergoing repairs including upgrades. Check in later for those!


The Original barracks for the Special Human Task Force, it has not been converted into a receiving station for Vanguard and the Gotei 13 when they need to make use of the Vanguard’s travel system. Since the Gotei is allied to the Vanguards cause, the station is kept so that should Soul Society require reinforcements they can be furnished.


Through pasts efforts with the Vanguard Leader Azure Iramasha and a fellow Iramasha named Reimu, a newly developed base has been created on the outskirts of Iramasha Island in order to create a bond between the Iramasha and the Vanguard as a whole. With a transportation platform in the base itself, the keynotes of the base are that it allows constant contact between the Iramasha and the Vanguard, instant transmission of those that wish to visit Sukai Karakura in order to talk to the Vanguard face to face and the arrival of a newly based help desk among the base. The Iramasha can come here to request any archived information about their race and activities currently occurring on Earth itself.



Considering the actions of ex-Regent General Desmond Hayden and his close connection to Vastime he ordered the construction of a Vastimian base within the capital of Vastime. The reason for this was to give the Vanguard a secondary place of command should Karakura be attacked by also to act as its eyes and ears within the growing nation it's new considering it's close proximity to Shadowfall and other hostile factions. This base also allows has the primary purpose of research and development of new technology to aid Vastime and training of Initiative Soldiers in prototype assignments. Transportation is connected to the to the IRTS allowing for easy travel to the main base within Karakura, one can also come here to check for information regarding Vanguardian activities in the surrounding area.
