We all deserve a night off!
Tue Jan 19, 2016 10:25 pm
It had been too long since Carter had taken a personal day, the past few months he had been so focused on training and growing stronger he had over looked everything else. Last time he had taken a day off it had resulted in the city he was visiting being leveled by a hammer from another dimension so since then he had been hesitant to take another day off.
But figuring the odds were in his favor that the city wouldn't be destroyed twice on his day off he rolled the dice and now he found himself strolling through the festival. It was late at night and most of the people running around were young couples out enjoying their love for one another. He was enjoying the night alone though, having made peace with the fact that he was all work and that a love interest would have to wait until he could find time or somehow the woman fell out of the heaven's and into his lap, but barring that he wouldn't be expecting to find a significant other for quite some time. His shoes crunched in the lightly packed snow as he walked through the streets, lights strewn up every where twinkling like stars fallen to earth.
He had just stopped at a stall to get some candied almonds and was back to strolling the streets quietly, enjoying the chill of the night, his breath catching in the air before him. His right hand would come up to wrap his scarf around his neck once while in his left hand he held his treat. Once done he would walk over to a near by park bench and sit after dusting off the layer of snow so he could enjoy his almonds and watch the sight of the festival, it being almost picturesque what with its lights and snow and young love.
Even though his mind shouldn't be on work he couldn't stop himself from thinking about all that had transpired these past few months. He had helped with stopping an idiot form getting his hands on an evil hammer of ungodly power, had began his training with his mentor Cirno, whom he had seen strolling earlier on but didn't interrupt her as she looked like she was enjoying some quality time with her girlfriend, he had fought off part of a demonic invasion in Iceland, and now he had earned a command position in the Gotei. Next week he was going to hose a come to church meeting with his new squad so he could get a better feel for them all, find their strengths, see who would fit where and if any could be promoted to his vice captain or if he would have to find someone from the out side to bring in.
He had originally come from the fifth seat of squad one but after going out on his own to become powerful enough to be of use to the Gotei he returned home to help with the revamp of the failing organization. He was fine with staying clear of them all but his friend Landen had gotten it into his mind that as they gained in power it was their duties to work with these groups for the greater good and Carter had decided taking the Captain position of Internal Affairs would be a good start.
With the shake of his head he would clear the thoughts from his mind, enjoying the care free night, looking forward to whatever would happen. With a yawn he would push his white hair out from in front of his eyes with his hand, his eyes going back to enjoying the peaceful nigh, free of demons, blood, and pain.

“..The night is rather crisp...ah..”
A musical voice trilled in the night, deep lungfuls of chilly winter air being breathed in by the advent of despair. Her golden gaze shifting amongst the crowd, at the merriment and the joy. All of it was absolutely brilliant, delightfully delicious in its own right. All these permeating human emotions, for someone who fed of despair normally these emotions would be enough to make her euphoric… lovely.. and more importantly it would dispel the natural tendencies of destruction and despair sewing. So tonight on this winter's evening the likes of the advent of despair.. had felt something that she hadn’t dared to, needed to or wanted to feel for a long long time. She felt joy, and as she went through the crowds that joy would be infectious, radiating from her body like a glowing trail, her wings only visible to those of supernatural origin. For anyone else? They would see a simple schoolgirl from karakura high school, and some might even recognise the student council member.
”..Evening people~” she’d respond with a lovely smile as she kept contact as brief as possible, moving like a fairy amongst humans, quickly making her way through the crowd as she let out a euphoric laugh of pure merry making, spinning about with her skirt billowing out about her like she was one of those spinning tops that used to be so popular hundreds of years ago. Snow billowing out around her the wind howling as she felt her hair picked up and thrown wildly by the winds, to spiral about her like some corona of precious metal.
Yes Animum Desponde was happy. And she was in the mood to spread that happy spirit, so as she skipped through the snow tonight she was on a very different mission, a mission of joy and joy spreading. It was her night off after all. So while moving through the snow-fed streets she would every so often do acts of great kindness, such as an old lady almost fell? The advent of despair had helped her up , and another time.. and her personal favorite of the night so far, Animum desponde had been walking by a gambling joint filled with electronic slot-machines, her hands firmly clasped behind her back as she noticed a man down on his luck.. his despair.. like a fine wine that.. normally she would feast on and get stronger from it. But not tonight.
Tonight she snapped and pointed in his direction, and made her finger look like a finger gun, her tongue lightly sticking from the corner of her mouth as one eyebrow perked in glee for the joy that she was going to give this man for the time being. As when she said in a lightened tone. “Bang~ Joy Injection.” The machine would stop on the jackpot, all sorts of sirens and other things going off in the gambling joint as the man his eyes wide with disbelief had jumped up a look of joy that humans rarely could ever make, and she had rarely made even seen over the past 400 years let alone had been a part of. So.. it felt good to be the reason that someone was feeling just that happy.
She at this point was so.. extremely happy.. that the advent of despair had been humming a merry tune.. that 600 year old tune called.. “jingle bells”.. when she had bumped into someone.. without noticing they had been a spiritual being, and had been continuing on her way. But for that spiritual being, most likely it would have been the absolute largest spiritual signature he had ever felt, it would have been as if the sky had split inhalf and the ground had fallen out to become merely an incomprehensible mass, a plethora of energy that would have clear mixtures of shinigami energy.. hollow energy.. a ziamichi’s energy and something else.. something extremely sinister.
Yet for now.. as she said softy.. ”Dashing Through the snow…. on a one horse open sleigh~..” She had no clue just yet.. what kind of encounter she had unwittingly just.. bumbed into.
