Artist: E.S Posthumas - Song: Unstoppable - Word Count: 1714
Hayuko listened to the boys sorrowful laugh, it was the sound of a child who didn’t have self-confidence. It was the sound of a child who was being defeated by the life around him, the resonance of someone who was letting the darkness of the world slowly chip away at them. It was someone who had to fight their own battles, and realize there’s more to life than the constant struggles; that you have to get past it in order to reap the benefit of being alive. Ultimately, you have to cast those worries away and simply start dealing with them; or they’ll plague you till the moment you die
The self-pity session continued and he realized how much this Rin child has on his plate, too much for a child he was sure. “Sure, we have to worry, or else nothing would bear importance in our lives; this much is true” Hayuko said as he paused “But worries are simply worries, their pending issues that have to be dealt with. Their weights that have too be taken off as you move on; they can’t be shackles that’ll weigh you down until you have nothing left. Then you’re not living, your surviving; and there is a big difference between the two.” Hayuko said as he spoke away from rin. Not facing him directly, but speaking boldly enough so that rin could understand every word. Hopefully Rin would take something positive from his words; something he could use to develop himself, and push forward in a more positive light.
Clearly there was a big burden he had in his back, maybe somebody murdered his family and he was searching for revenge? This was something Hayuko has heard before, and it’s a burden that swallowed the last guy whole. Nothing good comes from obsessing over a goal a negative goal such as that one; Hayuko himself knew this all too well. Gladly, He saw rin’s expression ease as they continued to speak about his goal of cooking. This was the sort of thing that a child should be focusing on in the first place. Something where he could develop himself to do what he wanted, something that could enlighten others lives. Something that could make the world a brighter place, not such a dark and over bearing one. But as Hayuko continued to speak, there was a sudden change in the mood; Hayuko had unexpectedly tripped over a landmine, and he could feel it as rin’s tension began to rise.
Clearly Hayuko didn’t mean that it was funny in a literal sense. Of course discrimination was nothing to laugh at itself; but the misunderstandings caused by something so stupid as in difference in birth of color was laughable at the very least? The concept that if I was born here and you were born over there was certainly idiotic almost to a laughable point; but Hayuko forgot how young Rin was. Or even if the child was being affected by such barriers. After all he could sense the slight flames that the youngster himself was producing under his jacket. It was very faint, but Hayuko was very perceptive to powers; especially those who have similar powers to his own.
Hayuko kept silent as rin spoke and opened his mouth only at the end “Im sorry to have offended you, I didn’t mean it like that either” Hayuko said trying to soften the unintended blow he had verbally dealt to rin. Hayuko was trying to act like an elder, a mentor of some sort towards this child; as this would help the child move on in his life. Hayuko wanted to help people, albeit he generally did it indirectly. This time he was taking a more direct approach; seeming as the child needed it. And Hayuko didn’t realize he had hit it, but he had found a crack in Rin. Soon he was gushing out all of his pent up emotion, to someone he didn’t even know. That’s when he knew he had struck a nerve, of course unintentionally. But what he was saying was tied in by some strange string of fate. That of all the possibilities in this world he would be hunting for a monster. That he was hunting for the beast that was essentially Hayuko himself.
At this point he could dispel Rin as a lunatic, someone who wasn’t in the right frame of mind; mentally challenged. But this clearly wasn’t the case, these words were spoken with confidence; which is something the boy lacked from the start. They were spoken without hesitation, and soon silence befell them. Hayuko had multiple thoughts process through his head in this moment. Here was a child, burdened by something well beyond him. Something that he wasn’t even close to catching, in fact he was probably ignorant to the magnitude of what he was trying to accomplish. He didn’t realize how monstrous Satan actually was, further more; Hayuko himself was a bit shocked. This wasn’t the first time he was trying to be hunted down by a lunatic; but this time it was by a mere innocent child who was recently born. Which was strange in itself, because Hayuko hadn’t lost control in centuries. It was all very suspicious…
“So you’re a half demon” Hayuko said, as he began to piece together everything. The flames, the crack; the feeling of discrimination and hatred; and finally his motor his drive. The death of the beast from hell. Certainly Rin may have been shocked by his sudden deduction; but it was nothing surprising, it was piecing everything together. Hayuko stood, as his hood fell on top of his head once more covering half of his face as he was bearing over Rin. He knew what he had to do at this point, this was a child fighting for a petty cause; one he would never reach, and one Hayuko himself was already ironically in control of. “But you have no idea what your messing with” He said as the city suddenly felt very empty.
“Do you know who I am?” Hayuko was still bearing over rin, as his eyes began to morph from a bright red, to a stone cold black. It wasn’t a natural black color, but an endless abyss that seemed to suck inside the emptiness of the very city itself; one that seemed as It could absorb rin’s very soul. What made these abnormal black eyes even more frightening is the pupil. As you can literally see something darker moving about inside his pupils. Something that could strike fear into the heart of rin. Truly a look of the devil. “I’m a man who spends day and night trying to protect the world; People like you from dangers they can’t handle”
The atmosphere began to crash down from the strength he was releasing; creating a pressure that seemed akin to being 1000 feet underwater. The magnitude of his reiatsu itself was extremely intense, heating the atmosphere around them and causing dents in the weaker structures around them. He peered into Rin’s eyes as continued to speak “I’m a man, who deals with the truly terrifying things on this Earth so people like you can live their lives earnestly.” He said as he continued to speak towards the most likely terrified Rin. The rain water from the rain began to heat into mist at an astounding rate; he didn't apply any flames, this happened simply from Hayuko’s presence as he continued. “Shit like killing the demon from hell? Do you even realize the kind of shit your spewing? That’s a monster whose presence alone can consume you, you’re a kid whose only adding extra worries on top of himself. You’re creating shackles that don’t need to affect you; You should go back to being a chef kid, know what’s better for you.”
He said this as the literal essence of death began to decay the bus stop behind them; controlled perfectly away from Rin. He would not be hurt, but he would probably be terrified by the man in front of him. “Stuff like a demon on the inside? I’ve been cursed? Do you understand how many people live their lives with this burden. Some of them can’t hide it; you’re living in a world of self-pity. My life sucks, blah blah blah; there are plenty of people with shit they cant control, but they work hard to make their lives better. That’s what you should do; go back to becoming a chef. Hell become the best chef on the damn planet” He said as his voice changed, with a more demonic tone to it, while he spoke words only meant to help Rin. “What good would killing a demon under chains cause? Let sleeping dogs lie, or they’ll do a lot more than just bite you”
He said all of this as he was still bearing over Rin. He had said everything he needed to, the boy needed to realize that his priorities were mortally fucked up. And while this child was likely overwhelmed by Hayuko’s simple aura.. he hadn’t been releasing his strongest one out of the worry of hurting the damn kid. These was a mere fraction of his power, and the kid wanted to combat demons famed for the destruction of universes; for the slaughter of millions? He needed a reality check and Hayuko just gave him one.
“This is a mere fraction of my strength, imagine how much stronger the demon you want to slay is” Hayuko said as he began to turn “Realize what you’re saying, and that this is for your own good kid” Hayuko said as he turned and began to walk off, not expecting to be chased. He had done what he needed to for this kid: Give him a MAJOR shock. After all, he had a bright future ahead of him.
The question was, why would a child like that have a goal to slay him? The child may not have realized the demon he wanted to slay had been standing in front of him; but it was something that left plenty of questions in Hayuko’s mind.
Ironically Hayuko was a father who had tried to steer his unknowing child in the right direction... The question is; what direction will rin take?
