Kokuryu City, the infamous metropolis which is said to be ever-expanding and never ending. This would be the spot in which the Jade Cross commander would emerge from the shadow's of the night and take in a breath of fresh air. Upon one of the city's endless supply of concrete rooftops, there she stood; taking in all of it's dazzling buildings, impressive heights, overwhelming lights and vast skies made this skyline quite the beautiful sight. Yet, to most looking from the outside in, this fair lady fit the subjective build of the picture perfect model. Luscious, shoulder length blonde hair mixed together with that oh-so soft milky, white skin of hers. Then, those blood red eyes of her pierced the horizon like jagged eyes from that cold stare which radiated from Lady Veras's face. Moving downward, with quite the busty chest to compliment her slim figure, it wasn't a wonder most of the masculine variety found such interest in the likes of this commander. Toned from years of conditioning, training and fighting; she had a body most women would envy over. Placing her right hand on her hips, all of these other nonsensical thoughts had simply been placed to the wayside as she let out a cold sigh; the mist of her oxygen moving in all sorts of direction as the winter air embraced her bod; feeling as if the cold of winter had actually been...home. It reflected the inner workings of her heart, the merciless style of her combat and the actions in which she had made in this world on a day by day bases for the past few centuries. Honestly, it was quiet hard to decipher or guess what has gone through the mind of this woman to most people around her; even Veras's own self. Staring absently into the adored city lights, through those crimson eyes of the lone commander, it had all grown so...old. She had been within the ranks of The Kokuryuteshi for nearly four hundred years at this point. It's hard to believe someday's such an amount of time has passed, yet here she is in the 25th century.
Closing her eyes, she'd begin to think back on what she had actually accomplished during this lengthy period of time. Visions danced in her head of rising through the ladders of K-World to become the Jade Cross commanders. Commended on her vicious hand-to-hand, swift response to any threats that came her way and the intellect she possessed; it was only natural, out of what The Kokuryuteshi had at the time, to entrust it's leadership of this sector to Lady Veras. However, on the inside, this did not bring a sense of happiness or warmth to that stone heart of hers. Going further down memory lane, the name Akinari had started to rang countless echo's throughout the mind of the Jade Cross commander. Her only full blooded brother....was gone. They had each been the children of Tier Harribel and Ketsu Iramasha; making them both come to a conclusion, long, long, long ago; that they were the only two beings in this harsh world that understood each other inside and out.
Not their parents, not their half-blooded kin nor anyone within their associated races could truly understand them. They were outcasts, they were half-bloods and they were the only ones in this grand universe of ours who had the capacity to love one another for what they had turned out to be. And, on the day where he presumably died, she had lost the other half of herself that had made Veras complete. Thus, the passing her sibling, the one person in this world whom she had truly loved and wanted to protect...had hurt her in one too many ways. There were feelings of anguish over the demise of her beloved twin, sensations of regret of not being able to protect her brother, anger towards herself for letting him die and a sense of utter hopelessness that had turned to strife in the form of violence. Rather then break down, the only thing she could do was keep fighting. Projecting these awful scars of hurt into the fuel she needed to become one of the top ranking officials within the depths of The Kokuryuteshi.
Despite this, the sorrow had still took it's toll on her. It seems she couldn't even fulfill the promise of finding a happy future for her dear brother or ever reuniting them with their mother. This guilt, this remorse and this pain repeated in an infinite loop throughout Veras's mind at the start of each morning, the tide of each night and the dreams of her mind's enigma each and every day following the events in which this life had taken her dear brother away from her and this world. So, as she stated ever-so blankly into the filled city below her feet, it all felt so empty without that sense of warmth, compassion and affection of Akinari by her side. Making the winter winds that whipped, lashed and roared all around her feel incomparable to the void in her heart. As such, until she was given an order to carry out a mission for the likes of her organization, a call for help from those within her sector or a chance to kill something; it was very likely that she could stay in this very spot for days, weeks and even months to come.
Placing her hand upon her right breast, not showing a single sign of suffering, Veras had felt quite despondent in the core of her soul. If anything, the state of living in which she had been living was just...dead. As if she were nothing more then a reanimated corpse allotted the right to walk amongst the living. It all had just felt so hopeless as her mind being engulfed by these thoughts of her brother, they felt like chains which drained the very life that once flourished throughout every fiber of Veras's body and, in it's place, left only this devoid sensation of hollowness. Thinking further, and further and further about the subject at hand; she'd begin to steadily contemplate the possibility of them having a link into each others hearts. While they were each alive, this bond had kept the two of them in harmony, peace and love. Upon the destruction of Akinari's heart, this not only spelled the end of his heart, but the demise of Veras's heart as well with such a close connection to his for the duration of their life together.
Now moving her palm across her face, The Jade Cross commander would lean very slowly against a nearby wall of the building she was standing in; letting all of these thoughts begin to sink in; being unable to truly rid her mind of this imagery of the fulfilled life she once had with her dear brother. As gusts began to pick up, the storm within had intensified and she could feel the pangs of life being extinguished during the last moments of Akinari's existence. Serving to place her deeper and deeper into this state of absolute depression. And, for a brief moment, it may have even been possible to see quite the saddened look across this maiden's face; before she had composed herself to be strong for the sake of her brother. If there was anything left inside of her, anything left all, she'd keep this husk of a body breathing in memory of him and see where this future takes her as she forces herself to drag along the roads of life.
"Just wait...just wait. A world where we can be at peace will soon come, brother."
