One Week In: A Trip Down Town [Private]

After saying what she thought, Keianna went straight out and asked some questions. She asked about Minami’s hobbies, and also mentioned some things she had brought up before. Before Minami could talk about any hobbies she had, Keianna brought up the question as to why Minami didn’t have friends. Hmm, well. When you are the only powerless person in a group of, what the world called many years ago freaks, you become the freak. Well, being powerless, I was that freak. All my old friends developed powers, and when I moved I lost track of them. Now 95% of people I meet have powers. To be honest, I could have lots of friends if it wasn’t for one thing. People treat me too well because of my lack of powers. I prefer it when people can treat me like anyone else before I will sit down and consider them a friend. I need at least that liberty. So far I know one person who did that, and she is my friend, and you went beyond and actually complimented my potential. Maybe that’s why I just met you but like being around you so much. It is nice to hear someone who isn’t my parents compliment me like that.

After finishing Keianna started again. She explained why she didn’t have many friends. A change in personality, which Minami was kind of curious about, but also not curious. She liked Keianna the way she was, oddly enough. My friends always seem the calm mature type don’t they? As Keianna mentioned why her friends moved on she stopped. Her last words were “kill if I wanted to.” That was a little unsettling that she would come out and say that. The way she said it made killing sound too casual. You say that like killing is so casual...it is a little unsettling. Though from what she heard from Keianna, she knew she was no murderer. What she just said might have made Keianna feel bad. Well, I mean, just because you know how to kill doesn’t mean you just go around and do it. I know you aren’t like that. This entire time her voice was soft and sweet compared to normal, and she had a really warm smile, complimented by the blush still on her face. She was being as warm as possible to keep Keianna comfortable. All of it was genuine, so it should have worked. So, you’re personality has changed? How so?

As Minami told her story, Keianna immediately responded in an “I am not amused” fashion, calling people fools. She went on a tangent about how people spent thousands of years without powers, and how it was just a mutation that allowed people to have powers in the first place. She said right out that Minami was the healthy one, and everyone else is sick. Yes, a sickness that makes you stronger and leaves me weaker. I appreciate you trying to make me feel better, but it isn’t really needed. I understand people can be idiots, I’m just happy that you aren’t one of them. Her voice was kind of blunt in the beginning, but it softened back up when she said she was happy Keianna wasn’t one of them. It was also that statement that her smile came back from the neutral expression it started that statement in. Please don’t worry about it too much. I’m making friends slowly but steadily. After this Keianna went on to clarify she wasn’t a random killer, which Minami already knew, though it was nice to hear.

Now Minami’s final question was answered. Keianna explained everything that had happened. Her father died, and she had to keep up with training, school, and work. She became drained, and seemed to lose everything. It wasn’t until her mother got a job and made her quit that she recovered, sort of. It kinda made Minami a little sad to hear the story, and it showed on her face as it was told. However, Keianna’s final statement made Minami blush a bit. Certain people could still make Keianna smile and laugh she said. Minami had, apparently, made her both smile and laugh at some point or another. That sounds like it was hard. She stopped for a moment, then continued. Only certain people can make you smile and laugh. You’ve done both of those with me... Minami was blushing, but giggled a little. Normally Minami was a much more energetic and perky girl, but here she was showing a softer side here.

For a moment Minami thought her blunt tone might have been a bit much, but she shook that feeling off. It probably wouldn’t be misinterpreted, it was just her opinion on that matter. After commenting on how difficult Keianna’s life must have been, there was only a simple two word response. Aye, I think I might have struck a sour chord. That didn’t sound too...pleasant. She realized it might not be the best to talk about it. Minami had had a fairly easy life, and never had any real responsibility. Any further on the matter and it might make Keianna upset. She dropped the subject, especially considering this had turned into a first date they should probably stick to more pleasant subjects. She went on and mentioned how Keianna had smiled and laughed around her. Keianna’s face glowed pink a bit. Keianna’s tone was soft and sweet now. It sounded like a normal girl as she spoke.

The tone change was extremely comforting, and Minami felt just a little more attached because of it. Have I...always found girls’ voices this alluring? She honestly wasn’t sure, she may have and just not known it consciously. Her face had no change in tint, if only because the blush had never left her face. She stuttered a bit before responding. I...um...well, I mean I didn’t used to believe in that kinda thing. But...I mean, with what’s happening, I think it might...actually be...true. Never before today have I had such...a hard time getting my words out, and even as nervous as I feel...it feels good. Tell me, what do you feel when you look at me? Minami glanced up and attempted to look Keianna in the eye, but at this point it only made her already red face turn redder. Keianna’s face looked awfully cute to her now. Now that she wasn’t denying the idea she was probably gay, or at least bisexual, she started to see things like this. You have v-very pretty eyes... Unlike Keianna, saying what she felt involved a lot of nervousness and stuttering.

Minami tried to calm herself down, through all the stuttering Keianna was smiling that warm smile. She asked the question as best she could, and Keianna answered. Rather than saying how she felt, she explained how she didn’t feel. As Keianna went down the list, Minami’s smile grew. She eased up a bit herself, and though the blush would likely remain plastered on her face, other signs of nervousness would fade. She was feeling more happiness than anything, though it was likely that Keianna could make her act shy again easily. The way Minami was, it was likely the right person could make her feel shy on command if they knew just the right buttons to push. After said the last one, that she didn’t feel alone, Minami finally commented. Well, it makes me happy to hear that. That makes me feel a lot better knowing all of that. After mentioning how pretty Keianna’s eyes were, it instilled some more blush into Keianna’s face. With a small smile, she was thanked. She stuttered a bit on the you, but the rest came out alright. A compliment on her green eyes was sent back to Minami, and if she hadn’t already been red on the face and smiling as she was, she would be upon receiving the compliment.

Keianna finished her food and set it off to the side. Minami though, had a few bites left when this happened. As she continued to eat, Keianna asked if there was anything she would want to do. As she chewed her food she pondered on it. As the food slid down her throat she looked up. Uhh, well. We could go to the park. There is a lake there that looks pretty neat in the dark, I think. And even if it is dark, considering the security this town has we’ll be safe as long as we stay on the lit pathway. So what do you say? Minami went down and ate the last few bites of her food. She wiped off anything she may have gotten on her mouth with a napkin. She looked back up at Keianna. Or if you don’t like my idea, you can throw something on the table. All I know is I’m enjoying myself and I don’t want to go home just yet.

Once done relaying the idea, Keianna glanced out of the window. Once she was through, she glanced back to Minami agreeing that it seemed like a good idea. Smiling at Minami, she confirmed that she had heard the lake was beautiful. As Minami finished up her food, she could see Keianna watching as she did so. When the question as to some other suggestion arose, Keianna shot it down stating she liked Minami’s idea. With that done, Keianna stood up, and in response, Minami did as well. She was reaching for her wallet when Keianna informed her she would be paying for the meal. But I have money, you don- Minami didn’t have time to finish her statement, for as Keianna stepped towards the register she told Minami she’d meet her at the door. Minami let out a soft sigh. Can’t say I have anything against her paying, I just kinda feel bad to make her take the whole bill. Minami shrugged it off after a moment though, seeing as Keianna hadn’t given her a chance to argue. Obviously she had her mind set on being the one paying.

Making sure to grab all of her things, Minami made her way over to the exit and waited for Keianna. She waited a few moments as Keianna payed and made her way to the door. As usual, Keianna opened the door and allowed Minami to pass through. As the two walked, Minami took the lead this time, for this time she knew where she was going. I love the park personally. Especially at night, it is so peaceful. And if the moon is full, it reflects off the lake water and makes everything pretty. We live in the city so you wouldn’t know it, but the full moon alone can light a person’s path. It’s pretty magical. Minami stopped so Keianna would be able to respond or say something. The two came up to another intersection, still bustling with traffic. If Keianna’s arm shot up to block her again, she’d grab it before it went all the way up. Don’t worry, I won’t just go walking into the street. If it didn’t, she’d say, I’m surprised your arm didn’t shoot up hehe.

Once it was time to go, Minami walked across the street. Not as fast as Keianna usually did, but she by no means took her time. An average pace. Once across, they continued moving straight ahead. The park is still a little ways up. It’ll probably be dark out by the time we get there. One day we should go during sunset. All of those various reds, pinks, purples, and oranges reflecting off the water is beautiful as well. Minami was silent for a bit, giving Keianna a chance to give her opinion or say something. Meanwhile all around them, the city still bustled with life. Minami couldn’t wait to get to the peaceful quiet of the park.
