Toshizo Hijikata~The Demon Commander~0-5+
“Retaliate, Takaru!” A dominating voice could be heard throughout the desolate outskirts around Karakura Central; shouting the release phrase to a Zanpakutō. The owner of both voice and Zanpakutō was the Shinigami Captain of squad 3, Toshizo Hijikata, and as for why he was releasing his Shikai... well, that requires a bit of a rewind. To be honest, the day had started off rather smoothly; the only difference from the norm being that Hijikata was in the World of the Living today instead of the Soul Society. Sure, he had been there many times before, but that was all prior to his current position as Captain. Of course, with said rank, it could be guaranteed that he was not there simply to see the sights. Being the Captain of squad 3, Hijikata was in charge of the majority of the Gotei 13's reconnaissance as well as their first response teams. As such, it was his duty to be up to date on all of the happenings in both the Soul Society and the World of the Living. While the Soul Society was rather easy to stay current with, to actually be ready for any event in the world of the living, one had to actually go there and see the situation for himself; and what better way than through a mutual ally? Yes, not only was he surveying the World of the Living for himself, but Hijikata had also arranged a meeting with Urahara at his shop. Granted, knowing the man, Hijikata was pretty much expecting for no one to be there when he arrived. Of course, this still left the reason as to why Hijikata had just released his Shikai upon what had been intended as a normal information gathering mission.
Soon after his arrival, Hijikata had been met with a very familiar presence emanating from close outside Karakura Central; one he had faced many times before. Being the warrior that he was (not to mention the first responder), Hijikata's natural instinct was to take care of this disturbance himself, an instinct he chose to follow. Upon leaving the protective dome around Karakura Central, Hijikata soon realized just why he had been able to sense the presence from so far away and while inside the city's protective dome. There, in the outskirts surrounding Karakura, an enormous Garganta had been opened, and from within its murky depths, the eyes of a certain, familiar beast could be seen. Actually, it would have been more correct to say many pairs of eyes. Yes, standing there right in front of him, multiple Menos Grande class Hollows began to bellow out from the Garganta, eventually accumulating to a horde of easily fifteen to twenty of the beasts. And so, as Hijikata heard the familiar sound of about ten cero beams being charged, he knew there was only one choice if he wished to take on all of the beasts at once; rely on his incredibly lazy Zanpakutō and its Shikai. Thankfully, due to its lackluster changes for Shikai (a.k.a. none), Hijikata has been able to release his Zanpakutō roughly a second or two before the cero beams were able to fire.
Holding his Zanpakutō up in front of himself, Hijikata braced himself quickly for the impact of the ten cero beams. Of course, given his Zanpakutō, Takaru's power, this step was most likely unnecessary, but it was better to be safe than sorry. As the ceros collided with Takaru's blade, its effect activated, and the energy of each attack was sent back at each of the ten Menos that had fired upon him through its process of "Reversal". While the reversed attacks dealt a significant amount of damage to the Menos who had fired them, most were still left standing, and Hijikata knew that he was in for one hell of a fight. "Well, at least someone actually decided to wake their ass up today" Hijikata commented to his Zanpakutō, an eager grin on his face showing his excitement for the upcoming fight. While many a Shinigami, even those with Captain-class strength would have shown some sort of hesitation or consideration before facing such a large group of Menos Grande, Hijikata only felt excitement at the fact that this fight could very well kill him. It wasn't that Hijikata was looking forward to his own death, and he had no intentions of dying here today, but the fact that this battle would present him with an actual challenge was what truly got his blood pumping. Then again, for a man known as "The Demon Commander", such an attitude was to be expected. Honestly, it was at times like this that one had to wonder why Hijikata had never attempted to become the next Kenpachi; Captain of squad 11. Either way, the one thing that was clear was that these "beasts" were about to be faced with a true "demon" of the battlefield. And so, with Zanpakutō held firmly in both hands raised above his head and a powerful roar, the "Demon Commander" of the Gotei 13 quite literally launched himself at the horde of Menos Grande; ready to cut down all that stood in his path.

The woman's agile frame lay sprawled across the floor, arms spread out away from her body, and legs entangled within a small sheet. Her chest rose and fell subtly in even breathes, a key indicator that the woman was asleep. Yes, her eyes were closed tight as she reveled in her sweet dreams, and a small snot bubble was delicately placed outside one of her nostrils, expanding and shrinking along with her soft breaths. Some people might be disgusted by such a sight, just as some would be annoyed at the fact that she was snoring, loudly. Here lie Yoruichi Shihouin, recently reinstated Captain of the 2nd Division, sleeping on the heated mats of the 2nd Division Barracks in the middle of the room. Excepting Soifon, there was nobody who would be willing to disturb the Captain's peace should they come upon her. They simply would circumvent the strewn body and go on about their business, keeping their petty thoughts to themselves. Yet, electronic devices did not seem to possess the same sympathy for Yoruichi as the Shinigami did, as it suddenly began to buzz from within her apparel. Still in dream mode, she would make a frown, causing the snot bubble to pop unceremoniously. Her body stirred and rolled over onto its side, consequently throwing the blanket off of her legs. She really was not well-dressed.
For her bottoms, all she currently wore was a pair of plain white panties which was previously disguised by the shroud of the blanket. It revealed much of her dark chocolate colored skin, still rich and smooth despite an age that would make any human perform what they called a 'spit-take'. As for her top, she was wearing a the top half of her Executive Militia's uniform, covering the front of her body fairly well, but showing a bit much of her sides and completely exposing her back. It was tied around her neck and around her waist, somewhat reminiscent of an apron, but apparently that was the optimum style for Shunko. The only other thing that could be considered clothing from here on would be the white obi tied around her waist, which held the Divine Messenger Machine tight against her hip. So, when it began another bout of vibration, there would be no doubt that Yoruichi would be feeling it. Her frown deepened and she tossed again to the other side. Eventually, the device would begin ringing loudly at her, at which point the woman would up with a furious face, yelling "WHAT?!" It would take a while before she figured out the source of the cacophony, after which she would shove her hand into the sash and withdraw the device with wild motions. That which disturbed this woman's sleep was her enemy, but the Denreishinki was lucky it was just a machine. She read the alert, sighing, as apparently there was an aggregation of Gillians in Karakura that her Division was charged with responding to. She would shake her head as she stuffed the wretched device back into her Obi, and looked around for the rest of her clothing, which was scattered around the room. She remembered throwing them off of her body when she had decided to take a nap.
No, she wouldn't bother gathering up a strike team of Officers, nor any of the Onmitsukido; they would just be burdens. In the past hundred years, Yoruichi had far surpassed the average level of a Gotei Captain, making taking care of a few loose Gillians a walk in the park for her. Within a matter of seconds, she had her black stretch pants on and her Captain's haori draped over her body without bothering to put her arms through the sleeves. She hesitantly picked up her Zanpakutō, and strapped it to the back of her obi like she used to do long ago. She didn't bother walking outside, choosing just to thrust her blade forward from within this small room, and open Senkaimon indoors. The fabric of space would be torn apart to reveal the familiar Shoji-styled doors that stood between her and a dimensional tunnel ripe with turbulence. The doors slid open, and the purple-haired woman was walking through into the red light beyond. With great finality, the doors slammed shut with a clack, and Senkaimon imploded into a single point of light, before it too disappeared. Yoruichi would be making her way through the blustering rift now, walking as opposed to running, trying to make it to the other side of the channel where a second set of doors would await.

Toshizo Hijikata~The Demon Commander~0-5+
When we last left Hijikata, the "Demon Commander" of Squad 3, he had been charging head first into a large group of Menos Grande; relatively the same place he is now. Thanks to his earlier maneuver where he had used his Zanpakutō's Shikai ability to reverse the beast's cero beams back at them, he had managed to cut down one of their numbers; though at the cost of revealing his trump card. While the Menos Grande may be large beasts working only off of instinct, even an animal could tell that when their own attack had been flung back at them, it was not a wise idea to try the same move again. Of course, seeing as the cero was one of the Menos Grande's strongest abilities, such a feat as rendering it useless would normally be a huge advantage against a single one of these beasts. However, because he still had around fifteen other Menos Grande to take down, this advantage was relatively short lived. Sure, they may be great big lumbering beasts and not really fast, but when they were big enough to step on you as if you were a bug, close range combat was still rather dangerous no matter how strong you may be. Then again, given that this was Hijikata, such danger only further aided in his lust for this battle.
As Hijikata charged the closest of the Menos Grande, his earlier tactic thankfully gaining him a small element of surprise, he held his Zanpakutō ready to strike as he dashed; held in his right hand away from his body so that he could run smoothly and then get the optimum amount of strength when he cut. Of course, as the time it took for him to reach the first Menos Grande would be difficult to count in even seconds, it was not long before he held his Zanpakutō firmly in both of his hands, angling the blade horizontal to the beast. While the dash to reach the Menos Grande had been short, Hijikata had still used it to store a small amount of reiatsu into his blade to use the Zanjutsu technique "Extended Cut"; revealed as he powerfully slashed upwards from the Menos Grande's foot about half way through its body in a single cut. Of course, it would take more than that to fell the beast, and Hijikata was not a warrior to be satisfied with only a single slash. Not wasting any time, directly following his initial slash, Hijikata leaped high into the air with the aid of Shunpo, appearing directly in front of the beast's masked face. Still gripping his Zanpakutō with both hands, he quickly brought it around to an overhead position, before bringing it back down in a slash cleanly across the hollow's mask and shoulder; causing half of it's mask as well as its whole right arm to begin falling off before it disintegrated.
While taking care of the first Menos Grande seemed hardly more than child's play to Hijikata, there were a couple of reasons for this. The first being obvious, he was able to use surprise to take out one of the beasts all by itself. The second lay in his sword style, the Shinsengumi-Kenjutsu; created by Hijikata himself to be a brutal, highly powered style emphasizing powerful strikes and fighting against uneven odds. Of course, this first kill would be the only easy one, as his surprise had already worn off, and the next two closest Menos Grande were already lumbering their way towards him. "Finally! I thought you behemoths were gonna be too slow to even react there for a second!" he shouted at the beasts unable to understand him, an obvious tone of joy to his voice. Then again, he was a swordsman, a warrior; should he not be able to find enjoyment out on the field of battle where he belonged? Of course, there was no time to think about such trivial matters in the heat of battle, and as the first of the two new Menos Grande reached him, it held up it's large arm and powerfully brought it swinging down towards Hijikata to attack. However, given how slow these beasts were, dodging such a head on attack was still rather easy for Hijikata; the true difficulty coming from the fact that he was not simply facing a single lumbering beast but a mob.
As he had jumped back to dodge, he landed right in the path of the second Menos Grande's attack preparation; another lumbering but powerful bash with its arm. Unfortunately for the Demon Commander, he did not have the time needed to dodge this second attack; only managing to turn around and bring his Zanpakutō around in time to block most of the creatures force, though he was still sent skidding back a couple of yards. However, despite the hit, Hijikata remained standing once he stopped moving, and upon his face sat a distinct grin of enjoyment. Of course, he really wasn't given much respite, as two other Menos Grande, supposedly with big ideas in their heads about taking down a Captain (either that, or the much more likely occurrence that they had simply forgotten the previous outcome) began to charge some new cero beams, having started around the time Hijikata had been knocked back. Unfortunately for them, such a tactic was useless against Hijikata, as to counter, he simply had to contact the ceros with his Zanpakutō. Luckily for him, because Menos Grande weren't really good at coordinating by themselves, the two cero beams were not fired in unison, instead having one follow a few seconds after the other. Because of this, he was not only able to use his Shikai's ability of reversal to send the attacks back at each one separately in his own energy attack, but it also gave him just enough time to aim each reversal at the beast's masks, taking down both before they even knew what hit them.
Now, while the Menos Grande's numbers had been cut down by about one third, their threat to Hijikata still remained; mainly because by now, all of the remaining beasts "knew enough" not to throw anymore ceros at the Shinigami. Because of this, as well as the fact that Hijikata had remained still to use his Zanpakutō's ability, the previous two Menos Grande had already made their way back towards him and had begun another round of slow but powerful swings at him. While the first, as with before was the easiest to dodge, forcing Hijikata to simply leap back, though this time he followed that action up by slicing up the beast's arm with a counterattack; the following attacks would not be so easily dealt with for an... unusual reason. Directly following his counterattack against the first attacking Menos Grande's arm, he noticed something that had not been there before; namely the reiatsu associated with the formation and opening of the Senkaimon Gates. While this was not an unexpected occurrence, seeing as a mob of Menos Grande this size was undoubtedly going to garner the attention of the rest of the Gotei 13 sooner or later, Hijikata had been hoping to be allowed to take on this mess by himself.
Unfortunately, his own zeal for taking on this horde by himself blinded him for just long enough to become dangerous, and as he contemplated yelling at whoever came out of the Senkaimon, the two Menos Grande still attacking him had no problems completely ignoring it. Attacking more in retaliation to being hurt, the first Menos Grande that Hijikata had already injured attacked him slightly faster than before, though at a lower strength. As the move caught him off guard, the blow connected, the beast's hand colliding with his torso to send him flying for a couple of yards. However, that was not all, and in a stroke of surprisingly horrid luck, the first attack had sent him directly into the range of the second, uninjured Menos Grande, preparing another full force blow. Injured slightly from the first hit and not given adequate time to dodge or even block fully, Hijikata only managed to bring his Zanpakutō around to collide with two of the beast's fingers as the second attack hit him, throwing him right back down towards the ground. While a single Menos Grande would not have been much of a match for Hijikata strength-wise, the quick (at least in terms of the beast's speed) combination from the two hollows was enough to cause some substantial damage to the Demon Commander; especially when paired with the fact that he had collided rather forcefully with the ground. Though injured, Hijikata was far from out of the fight; but pulling himself out of the rubble his collision with the ground had caused, he could only wait to see just who was going to emerge from the Senkaimon Gate before continuing his assault.

The brilliant white corridor was seemingly empty, devoid of substance excepting the entrance and the exit. Yet, as Yoruichi progressed toward the last set of doors, the gentle padding of her footsteps would echo throughout the dimension as if they were hitting a solid wooden floor. She wasn't putting any extraneous effort into rushing to her destination, content with a gentle stroll through the blindingly-lit dimension, just as her companion Jigokuchō was. The coal black butterfly flew as they often did, not in a straight path such as a bird, but erratically without predictable pattern. When it finally reached the end pair of doors, it would seem to touch its infinitesimal appendages upon the wooden flat, before rebounding off and floating in the opposite direction. It passed over Yoruichi's shoulder to head back home to the Soul Society, having completed its task successfully. The dark-skinned woman did not look back, seeming unconcerned with it as she had known these creatures for very long already. She knew it would get back safely, and so she was free to continue about her own business. Her fingers pressed into the small crack between the sliding Shoji doors, and with one sweep of her arm to the side, they were thrown open to reveal the world on the other side.
Despite the seemingly radiant light coming from every direction within the Senkaimon path, the light of the Living World's hit Yoruichi's dilated eyes with great force, causing her to squint to begin with. It took time for the luminescence to fade away, and for the colors and shapes to materialize. The Senkaimon outer gate had opened hundreds of yards in the air, ripping through the fabric of the sky to present Shoji doors that appeared to be connected to nothing. As Yoruichi took to the scene of distress, she would remember this place as being the outer ring of Karakura Central, developed with a suburban style in mind, yet plagued with the greater diversity of race. Creatures such as Hollows and Arrancar and Demons found their way around this place, often terrorizing it as the location was just outside the great barrier of Karakura. And as a testament to this truth, the first beings the Shihouin would notice were a pack of Gillian-class Menos Grandes. Like skyscrapers in motion they were lumbering around the streets of the city outskirts, crushing homes and ruining the infrastructure from their movements alone. But they seemed to be distracted by something, of which the woman would notice a second later as her focus fell upon a male figure who was floating in mid-air with a sword in hand. That reiatsu...
She had arrived just in time to catch the sight of the man being caught by one of the Gillians, taking a direct body blow that sent him flying to the side. Unfortunately, though he was able to hold strong after the attack connected, he was wide open for the following blow from a different Gillian, sending his form hurtling back down to Earth like a meteor caught in Earth's gravity well. Just to compare sizes here, one Gillian's hands was greater in bulk than a human body; in fact, it was several times larger. So, both Yoruichi and this other male paled in comparison to a Gillian's size. Yet, Yoruichi would not be very worried for that man's well-being. Even as he was smacked down and impacted the streets below at high speeds, she could sense the spiritual power emanating from the being. He was a Shinigami of at least a Captain level, and of all emotions to be feeling right now, curiosity was the one that struck the Shihouin's mind. She squinted her eyes even more and zeroed in on the robed figure that was now drawing himself out of the crater his crash caused. A masculine body of light-toned skin, a lengthy head of black hair, the violet-shaded kimono wrapped loosely around his body... She knew this person! "Hey... Ohayo! Hijikata-saaaan!" Suddenly the woman's demeanor shifted as she called loudly to him. She had a great wide smile on her face and was wildly waving her arms at him in a very enthusiastic manner. Despite the presence of the Menos Grande here, she seemed particularly ignorant of the situation as she greeted the fellow Captain.
The Gillians seemed to be just as unaware of the newcomer as she was of them, and continued to make their move upon Toshizo while he was still pulling himself out of the rubble. One came forth with its hand cocked back, just before it was released like a piston and came hurtling at the injured Captain. Yoruichi was still flailing as she floated out of the Senkaimon, trying to get him to take notice of her and address her back. Yet still the Hollow's fist rocketed at him, and from her vantage point it was looking more and more like he was not going to respond to it. She made a small noise of confusion, before suddenly her visage blurred and disappeared just as the Hollow's great punch was about to connect. The white vise was immediately halted with a voluminous crack; the shockwave created from the excess energy discharged outwards and carried its sound and force for hundreds of meters in every direction. Trees bowed as leaves rustled, glass windows shattered as the streets ruptured, and plum-shaded hair billowed ferociously as the wind struck it. Her form had almost instantaneously materialized between Toshizo and the Gillian's attack, with her own fist pressed against it with a stiff-arm. Mere milliseconds after the collision, the Gillian's arm would suddenly convulse and burst in multiple areas to gush small fountains of crimson blood. Yoruichi's body was as steadfast as a statue, unmoved by the Gillian's attack, while unfortunately for that Hollow, it suddenly stumbled back several paces as the recoil kicked in.
That was not all; as the Gillian was recovering, Yoruichi would drop her arm and then move it around to her back to grasp the top of her scabbard just under where her Zanpakutō's guard was. Despite the fact that she could easily destroy the Gillian with her bare fists, her Soul Slayer was necessary for the cleansing process. She delicately placed her thumb against it and pushed, revealing an inch of the iridescent blade as it vibrated with a subtle metallic note. Her target did not seem capable of expressing emotion beyond screaming at her and retaliating, thus it would begin again with its uninjured arm. It brought its hand falling down upon the two, its size easily able to encompass both Captains if it worked as planned. But Yoruichi would only huff out a small breath of exasperation as her hand twitched. What came next could not be seen by the naked eye, but it happened as the great Hollow's movements suddenly froze in place. A glowing line appeared on the front of its body, perfectly bisecting the creature from top to bottom. Then without a second's interval of time it was split in half, blood cascading like a waterfall as the two sections fell away from one another. Before they could even reach the ground, their form dissolved into base spiritual particles, signifying that the Hollow had been purified and was being sent to the Rukongai as a Plus. With a light click, Yoruichi's blade was resheathed once more, and she finally had enough room to look back at Toshizo.
Without warning she threw a respectably strong kick into the young man's leg that would most likely send him tumbling back into the rubble. Again, Yoruichi's disposition shifted as she threw a humorously furious look at the Captain, accentuated with popping veins on her forehead as she yelled at him. "Oi! What the hell are you doing just lazing around?! Get up off your ass and fight!" She was truly surprised by the injuries Toshizo had taken in his fight with mere Hollow foot soldiers, as they were more or less cannon fodder in battles, and even less respectable without an Adjuchas to lead them. Well, it was great and all that he took the initiative and was first to arrive and respond to the threat, just as his Division was known for doing. However, it didn't matter how fast the reaction was if he got himself beat up so quickly. She would conclude her berating of the Captain by kicking a dislodged chunk of asphalt at him, and then turn back around to face the remaining party of Gillians. They were converging on their location now, and Yoruichi would blast off the ground and hurtle towards the closest one. With a loud cry, her blade was flying out of its holster and finding itself embedded into the mask of the poor Gillian, thanks to a Flash Step bringing her past the variety of flailing limbs trying to intercept her. Two down, and eight to go it appeared. Whether or not Toshizo Hijikata joined the brawl, Yoruichi would rush forth with her Zanpakutō brandished, aiming to cut down each and every one of these beasts.

Toshizo Hijikata~The Demon Commander~0-5+
As soon as Hijikata realized just who had emerged from the Senkaimon, and audible groan escaped from his lips; though given the Menos Grande's noise and how far away he was, it was doubtful that Yoruichi heard it. While they were both Captains of the Gotei Thirteen, Hijikata did not really know her all that well personally; seeing as she had only recently returned to take up the position of Captain of Squad Two, and he had not been around back when she was initially a Captain. Of course, that being said, from what he did know of Yoruichi and the few times they had interacted with each other, it was pretty clear to Hijikata that she annoyed him. Well, perhaps "annoy" wasn't the right word, as she hadn't truly done anything to properly annoy him with their lack of many interactions, but there was still something. Then again, given the current situation, the main thing annoying Hijikata right now was the fact that this would no longer be just his fight. "Oi! Shihouin! Who decided I needed any back-" He began to shout towards the woman before suddenly, a large fist came into his peripheral vision. While he was still recovering from the attacks of the two Menos Grande, Hijikata was not so slow as to let himself get hit by an attack he could clearly see coming, and quickly brought his Zanpakutō back up to fight. However, before he had a chance to even begin, a loud crack rang throughout the area, and in a flash, he saw the Second Division captain standing directly in front of him, having blocked the attack aimed at him. Thanks to his strength, Hijikata was able to remain unmoved by the shock wave, and thus was able to clearly watch Yoruichi take down the single Menos Grande attacking them both.
Despite how Hijikata might feel about having his battle interrupted, he could not deny that Yoruichi was indeed a highly skilled warrior. Now, this wasn't to say that he was in awe or unable to react because of her speed, but at the very least he was able to appreciate her skill. Well, that, and seeing as there were two of them now, Hijikata figured that they should at least come up with some sort of plan so that they didn't end up throwing attacks at each other. Sure, he may be a bit of a battle maniac, but that did not mean that he threw all strategy to the side so that he could kill. There was a reason he was known as The Demon Commander, and it was not just because of his ferocity in battle. That, and while he may have no problem dying an honorable death in battle, getting struck down by an ally's attack really held no honor. So, as Yoruichi finished off the Menos Grande and turned to face him, Hijikata had been planning to have a brief conversation about strategy with her before the rest of the beasts began to advance upon them... a plan that was soon dropped. Before anything else could happen, Hijikata felt a sharp pain in his leg as Yoruichi kicked him rather hard. Because he had not been expecting it, and because he had been injured a bit, the kick did manage to make him stagger back a bit, dropping his fighting stance to try and shake the pain out of his leg. "What the hell!? I was fighting long before you interrupted me!" he shouted back, anger visible on his face. Sure, he had been injured by the Menos Grande, but her damned interference had caused him to lose his focus, and he was only waiting to try and plan how to fight better. Of course, if anyone were to ask him how he got injured, Hijikata would not blame it upon the distraction Yoruichi's entrance had caused; that would simply be dishonorable and an excuse.
Still angry, Hijikata had been about to yell back at Yoruichi more, but given that they were still in the heat of battle, that would have to wait. Oh, that, and the fact that Yoruichi had just kicked a large chunk of debris at him. While Hijikata had dropped his fighting stance earlier, there was no way in hell that he'd let her hit him twice in the same battle. Showing off a bit of his own speed, Hijikata had his Zanpakutō back up in an instant, and as the debris looked like it was about to hit, he slashed twice in rapid succession; the debris breaking apart and flying off without touching him. With his anger still very present thanks to Yoruichi's berating, Hijikata completely ignored any wound he may have suffered, and soon began a mad dash towards the remaining Menos Grande. Oh, if she thought he was weak or lazy, she was about to be proven wrong, and Hijikata would make sure of that. As he reached the closest Menos Grande, Hijikata wasted no time drawing his sword back for an upward slash; throwing all of his strength behind his blade. Releasing the slash, Hijikata coupled it with a Shunpo, using both his strength and speed to slice the beast from its foot all the way up to its shoulder; not yet hitting the mask for a reason. Without hesitation, as he reached the beast's shoulder, Hijikata compressed the reiatsu beneath his feet to make a small platform for him to jump off of, landing on top of the Menos Grande's head. Pulling his left fist back, Hijikata slammed it down into the creature's skull; crushing its mask and face with the blow.
Being far from done, Hijikata turned around, facing the other Menos Grande as the one he stood upon was shrieking in pain as it disintegrated, and held his Zanpakutō up to his face. Before the beast beneath him fully disappeared, Hijikata used its body to launch himself forward at the remaining Menos Grande, focusing his reiatsu into his Zanpakutō in preparation for his next attack. Drawing his blade back as he approached three Menos Grande, Hijikata used the force of his dash to increase the strength of his slash, rotating his whole body with it to cut in a wide, horizontal arc at the three beasts. To further the reach of his attack, Hijikata used his "Extended Cut" Zanjutsu technique, and with the added reach, managed to slice the masks of all three Menos Grande in half at once. As their bodies fell and began to disappear, Hijikata turned to look at Yoruichi, resting his sword on his shoulder as he watched her. Having just taken out half of the remaining Gillian, the four left were all closer to Yoruichi, and if this was supposed to be as easy as she believed, then she should have no problem finishing them off. Of course, thanks to the injuries he had received earlier, coupled with overexerting himself in his anger, Hijikata could feel the impact of his wounds fully now; having actually made them a bit worse. Still, Hijikata would be damned if he showed even the slightest sign of injury to Yoruichi. "How's that then!? Satisfied!?" he shouted at her.

"Sōkotsu!"
The voice was but a whisper in the face of the following attack, as Yoruichi's fists appulsed the Hollow's stomach with indescribable force, one blow slightly above the other. As her balled-up hands sunk into the inky flesh of the Gillian, a shockwave would ripple outward from the origin of impact that reverberated not only through the body of the corrupted soul, but through the medium of air around it. The woman's violet hair rocketed backwards in the wake of the outgoing tide, as was the bottom flap of her Captain's haori. Light seemed to warp around the creature from the sheer scale of the excess force, leaving the actual trauma of the direct attack only to the imagination. Soon, from the point of impact and outward, the Gillian would begin to disintegrate as its form could not contain the damage in any way, shape, or form. It was evaporating into individual spiritual particles that were so fine that the naked eye could not see such infinitesimal specks of Reishi. And for a moment the scene was saddening, for it seemed that the creature was going to die and be erased from the soul cycle completely. Yet, Yoruichi's form vanished and reappeared precisely on the tip of the Gillian's conical nose, her sword in a reverse grip with her right hand, cocked back to attack. She swung it horizontally, torquing her body into the direction of it to empower the strike. Like before, her blade was far off from even scratching the mask of the creature with its tip, and for an idle second nothing would appear to have happened. Then time turned, and a clean line appeared on the mask bisecting both of the creatures eyes. With a pained scream, the Hollow's head would be lopped in half, therefore purifying the creature and sending the many souls that resided within it back along the natural cycle. Thankfully the process had occured before the creature's body could be completely eradicated by the Double Bone technique, and Yoruichi would float off with the knowledge that it no longer had to suffer.
This was just one of many creative ways that the Shihouin woman could use to take care of this Gillian infestation, and she was really having fun with it. It was not to say that she was really letting loose, because these Menos were far subpar and didn't challenge her at all. As one could clearly see, the site was thoroughly one-sided in Yoruichi's favor. She was not breaking a sweat. But still, any chances for her to actually fight at all were few and far between, hence why she was starting to feel the beginnings of an exciting workout. Yoruichi looked around now, noticing that the Gillians around her were just now walking towards her; it would seem as though the exorbitant force from her attack had actually blown them away from her and held them at bay while she performed her purification on this one. Still, even now that they had recovered, they were slothful creatures. She had time to glance over toward her fellow Captain, Toshizo. She had noted the surge of Reiatsu from him when he had joined the fight right after her, but didn't spare him a look while she was having her fun. Now, she caught him in the act of dicing three Gillians at once with a single slash, no doubt showing off his own capability now that he had an audience. As if to confirm her thoughts he turned his attention onto her and poised himself into a cocksure stance with his sword lying upon his shoulder. Following his nervy question, Yoruichi would only reply with a "Tch," clicking her teeth together in discontent. Eager to one-up the Captain, she held her blade horizontally before her, still in its reverse grip. The Menos Grandes were closing in, bringing their limbs up to prepare for deadly strikes. Yet as the arms reached their apex, Yoruichi's form would once again distort as the Flash Step was used.
She was gone like the wind, and the wind itself seemed to whine in response. Something happened, but it was most likely too fast to even be noticed by any onlookers. At best, an incredibly fleeting blur could be seen near the heads of each of the three remaining hollows at the same exact time, before leaving in their wake a ringing metallic sound. Immediately after that cacophony was the mutilation of the creatures' heads, recieving several perforating lacerations on their masks that chopped them up into dozens of various pieces. Blood spurted everywhere into the air, and they did not even have the chance to scream in pain before they began evaporating from the head down to the feet. It only took an instant, and the final concentration of Gillians were defeated. Whether or not the spectacle was awe-striking to Toshizo would cease to matter as a loud and aggravated voice yelled straight into his ear. "Amateurish!!" Yoruichi hollered from directly behind him, purposely intending to distress his ears in the process. Her blade was already sheathed in its scabbard, and yet there had been no sound to indicate it. Her arms were planted on her hips, and she was just floating behind Toshizo with an evil little smirk on her face. The fight was done, and so now the Captain was her prey, if her expression was of any indication to that. "I might have expected this from a Lieutenant, but not a Captain! I can't believe you got yourself injured by a mere Gillian, and then you're gonna blame me for it. Bah!" The last word she would enunciate with exasperation as she craned her head back to face the sky. She wondered if he was really going to stick to that excuse of his when he responded, because it really wasn't a smart one. When she looked at Toshizo again, her expression shifted to something reminiscent of boredom; half-lidded dull eyes and a slight frown, even picking at her ear with her right pinky while she was at it for effect. She would hopefully annoy him with the look while she waited for his 'alibi'.

Toshizo Hijikata~The Demon Commander~0-5+
As Hijikata watched Yoruichi finish off her allotment of Menos Grande, he had to admit that she had some skill. Okay, well, that much was never in any doubt, given her title as the "Flash Goddess" and the stories of her exploits; but it was very different to actually see her fighting first hand. To say that Hijikata was awestruck... would actually be quite a bit of an overstatement for the situation right now. Sure, he was impressed by her ability, but he had been expecting as much; not to mention that he had spotted a few flaws in her style when she switched to fighting with her Zanpakutō. She could probably beat him in a straight up fist fight, but when it actually came to using a sword, Hijikata was almost assured that he could gain an edge. Of course, all of this internal conjecture really was rather pointless; seeing as they had already taken care of all the Gillian, they were both Captains of the Gotei 13 and would most likely never fight, and the little fact that he was quite injured right now. Hell, if anything, the biggest thing on his mind right now wasn't how well either of them had fought, but anger over the fact that he had allowed himself to get injured so easily. Sure, he may have gotten a little angry at Yoruichi in the heat of the moment, but if anything he held no ill will towards her; he had simply only been mildly agitated that he had not been able to finish the fight by himself. Closing his eyes for a moment as if to will the pain away, Hijikata had actually been about to apologize to Yoruichi for getting caught up in the heat of the moment... or at least that had been his intention.
Before he was even able to sheath his Zanpakutō, Hijikata felt a presence behind himself; only milliseconds before hearing a loud voice shouting almost directly into his ear. Not so much from surprise but from the pain of the loud voice, Hijikata jumped forward a few inches; turning around in the process to face the person who had just yelled quite rudely into his ear. Of course, the actual identity of the person, obviously Yoruichi, did not catch him off guard; the only thing that did catch him off guard was the look on her face. Sure, he had kind of expected her to still be a bit cross, hence his intention to try and apologize to her; but to have her looking so angry and yelling right in his ear was rather unexpected. However, it wasn't until her next set of words that Hijikata truly got angry again. "The hell! When did I ever blame you for anything!?" he shouted, his right arm, still holding his Zanpakutō dropping to point the blade towards the ground. Realizing this, he quickly sheathed his Zanpakutō, the blade reverting back to its sealed state as he did so, although since its form never changed for Shikai to begin with there would have been no visual que to this. "Yeah, I got injured, but there is no way in hell I'd blame my own folly on anyone else; especially not you" he retorted, still looking at the other Captain, though with slightly less anger visible through his tone and features.
Sighing a bit, more so in an attempt to calm himself down than to show annoyance at the situation, Hijikata had been preparing to defend himself a bit more against Yoruichi's insulting implications; however the breath for the sigh reminded the Demon Commander just how much pain he was currently in. While the adrenaline of the fight and his anger had managed to dull most of the pain he was feeling, that supply was quickly wearing off. Hunching his body over a bit, Hijikata took a few deep breaths, before attempting to straighten himself back up and look at Yoruichi again. "Whatever you may think of me, I am a warrior, if I get injured during combat, it is my own damned fault; even if it was against just a bunch of gillian" he began, his voice regaining its usual calm, in control tone as he spoke. "Besides, I-fuck!" He began to continue, before feeling the energy he had been using to keep himself from showing any signs of injury fading only mere seconds before it finally did. Without warning, Hijikata soon fell backwards, almost as if he had slipped while standing still, and plummeted a few feet down to the ground; having not yet descended since finishing off the Menos Grande. Hitting the ground with a dull thud, a new wave of pain coursed through his body, even though the impact was much lighter than when he had been propelled towards the ground in the attack that caused his injury. Still, even as the pain continued, it was nothing compared to the embarrassment at having collapsed in front of Yoruichi, and having done so from being injured by such a relatively weak creature. Cursing his luck from the Gillian's lucky shot, the thought of committing seppuku passed through his mind for a moment; though it was quickly chased off. While his current situation was already enough of an embarrassment, actually caring about it enough to offer his life would have been hundreds of times worse.

Though she had chosen to highlight the moment with a flat expression as though she didn't care, anyone who knew better would realize just what a pretense it was. She was hiding behind the brush of her face like a predator, prowling, scrutinizing on the prey. Yoruichi planned to be patient, but the wait to recieve her reward was no profound amount of time at all; his prior mask of composure dissipated and he flamed up in response to the woman's teasing words. A gratified smirk fluttered across her face, thinking this one was far too easy to nudge and prod—a ball rolling around in the palm of her hand. To be fairly honest, Yoruichi got more than she wished for, as her fellow Captain felt the necessity to explain himself rather thoroughly. It was rambling, as far as she was concerned, and her grin flitted away as her amber hues began to draw away from his face and wander rather shamelessly down his body, a huff of exasperation made in the middle of his excuses. The man already had one of those pretty faces, so it made Yoruichi wonder exactly what was going on down under. She internally cursed his choice of clothing for the slack fabrics he wore. They gave away nothing, and it was just as irritating as having information withheld from you. She hardly cared for the style of his apparel when it came to appealing the body beneath it could possibly be. So it came once again to her disappointment, her stray eyes acquiring none of the woman's desired information. They snapped back up to attention to realize he was still prattling in his own defense.
Yoruichi reached up to her chin with one of her free hands, capturing the jaw in an alcove of the thumb and forefinger as she delicately stroked it. Her other arm wrapped around the elbow of the elevated limb, hiking it up and holding it in place as she pondered for a spell. A wicked little scheme was formulating within the Shihouin's mind as she paused, and at this point it had to be begging the question of whether or not she was even paying attention to Toshizo anymore. Irregardless, her frank contemplations proceeded with the accompaniment a taciturn hum. She considered the man's state of injury, however meager it be, as a means to an end; an excuse to be used for the greater good. That end-game came in the form of potential eye candy, a peek to see just what kind of figure lied in secrecy under the cumbersome shroud of his. She had originally been planning to take the easily-vexed man to the Fourth Division's medical facilities back in the Soul Society, effectively washing her hands of him and being done with the matter. However, her thoughts turned to the dilapidated building her old friend ran, a candy shop not too far off from here that also comprised of private quarters. Left in the dust kicked up by the wave of a new era, the building was seldom-visited and well isolated from the majority of Karakura's community; the perfect place. It all meshed together very well, bringing a slight smile to the woman's face yet again.
As if on cue, Yoruichi heard the pained expletive he grunted rather unceremoniously as his body staggered back, losing control over his altitude and beginning to fall... the violet-haired woman was already there, the point in which she had moved somehow failing to be recorded in the flow of time. Toshizo Hijikata would find himself thrown over the smaller woman's shoulder rather effortlessly, his long hair whipping wildly around before subsiding against her back like a raven waterfall. His feet in turn would be dangling down from the front of the woman's body so long as he didn't try to fight her hold on him. Her arm did seem to look frail from initial appearances, but the damage she had dealt to the Gillian would have shattered that illusion quickly; as it was her limb wrapped around the man's body with a stalwart strength. In this position, it was unlikely her companion would not be able to detect slight traces of her scent. The mixture of essences in the aroma were scattered in a fashion that seemed to defy a certain description, but of all of them the strongest were those of salmon, rosemary soap, and the tinge of sweat just beginning to exude from her pores as a result of the small workout; not that she expected the man to take in a husky gasp or any such thing. Rather, the woman would derive greater joy from flustering him once again.
"Yeah, yeah, we can work on your cover story later," Yoruichi responded, as though she had been actually listening to his justification of all things. "But, uh... Your injury looks rather grave. I'm going to have to take you somewhere where I can heal you up." She waited for no acknowledgement of the matter, or any undesirable dissent; within the second she was off, flash stepping through the air with Toshizo's stomach held tight against her shoulder. Being the Goddess of Flash entailed quite a great deal of skill in the art of Hohou, and so the act in which she travelled toward the Urahara Shouten was more along the lines of a casual walk to anyone else. She was taking it easy, yet still managed to reach the shop within ten seconds quite easily. A circle of dust kicked out from the ground as she landed before the doors of the shop with her patient in tow. He wouldn't see exactly where they were just yet, as Yoruichi would not allow him to turn around or escape her clutches. But, as the woman slid the entrance open and walked inside, he would find them in an antiquated candy store that was rather homely for a place of business. She could feel the other presences within the building, but it was a weekend and the shop was closed for the day. No one was there to see them enter. The dark-skinned woman would smile deviishly as she passed through to the back without a word.
