"There is no point in having power..."

The day had finally come for Kaminari. All of her hard work and training through out her time at the Academy was finally paying off. In her hand she held a piece of paper that meant more to her than most would have thought. It told her that she had officially graduated from Shino Academy and was able to apply for a position in Gotei 13. The only thing was, she didn't seem happy about it at all. She was sitting near the entrance to Shino Academy, in a patch of grass with a solemn look on her face. Her back was leaning nicely up against the trunk of the tree behind her, as she took advantage of the shade. If this meant so much to her, why was she looking and even feeling so down?

"Congratulations, Kaminari!!" A young girl who had sat next to her in most of her classes waved from across the way. Not only had she graduated, but she had graduated early. The end of the normal term was not coming for another three months. She raised her arm and waved back to the girl, showing that she was thankful for what was said, but as usual kept her mouth shut. As the girl walked off, the fake smile Kaminari held for that brief moment wore off and she lowered her gaze to once again stare down at this piece of paper.

Taking in a deep breath and slowly letting the air out through her nose, Kaminari closed her eyes and shook her head. The only thing going through her mind was "What am I going to do now?" Even though she had been so excited to move on from Shino Academy, she didn't know whether she actually was ready for it yet. She was scared to say the least. She knew a few people from Gotei 13 that would probably help her out, but they too had lives and had responsibilities they must hold up.

Giving up on her worry filled thoughts, she pushed herself to her feet and turned to walk away from the campus. She made her way down one of the many streets within the Seireitei, but truly was not paying very much attention to where she was going. The paper in her hand seemed to have every ounce of her attention. At this point she was just looking for someone to give her some advice.

Oi. Kuro. What the hell are we doing here? The laughing, sarcastic voice in the shinigami's mind asked him as he walked along, not holding any paperwork for once in his life, his hands in the considerably long pockets of the cloak he wore; he had abandoned his haori. He was feeling... well, restless. He had probably been sitting at a desk too long, staring at too many papers. It... bored him. Immensely. However... for her sake... and memory... he kept at it faithfully, doing whatever he could around, although it had gotten him very, very restless, and quite bored; so now here he was, sneaking out of the Gotei for a day as to inspect what was going on over at Shino Academy; a place he himself had once gone to.

As he walked through the gates, his overactive mind had him look around as he blinked simply, the star-shaped scar above his eye staying in place as his eyes moved around the courtyard. There were several students moving about; doing nothing but enjoying themselves. That is, all but for one, who quickly caught Kuro's eye. He himself was a complete freak here; his long, black cloak, pure-white hair, and star-shaped scar made him stand out, to say the least. I haven't a clue, Piero. Just sit down, shut-up, and lemme look around. He said in reply, somewhat irritated with his ziamichi spirit. However, he was still thankful for it; it occassionally alleviated him of boredom.

He merely stared at her as the rest of the students went inside, before Piero made a dull observation. Oi, baka. She didn't go inside. It told him. I KNOW THAT, PIERO! ...but why's she outside here then? He yelled at, and then wondered with, his ziamichi spirit before blinking and walking up to the girl. He stood directly in front of her, placing his hands on his knees, before with a SHUFF, his face moved much closer, his strange features meeting her directly in the eyes as a single hand rose up into the air, his pointer-finger pointing, yes pointing, out, pointed, yes pointed, at her face, before it began its awaited destiny...

Poke.

"There is no point in having power..."

Kaminari's thoughts were running rapidly through her mind. Because of this, she almost didn't see the man standing in front of her. Out of the corner of her eye, she realized that someone had stopped in front of her. She raised her head to look up at him, but he soon bent over making himself at her eye level. Confusion was definitely one of her emotions now. What the hell was this man doing? The innocent look on her face gave her a slightly childish demeanor.

"What... the fuck...?" would have been anyone else's normal reaction, either responding with shouts or some sort of violence, but she did neither. She kept herself quiet, taking in his features and noting that he came off as rather playful.

Kaminari watched him rather closely, her hands still gripping the paper that confirmed her graduation from the Academy. She flinched slightly as he made his first move by raising his hand upward. As he raised his hand and he pointed at her, she thought of moving back, but for some reason she did not. Her eyes shifted from looking directly into his and down to his finger, over and over and over again until finally his finger had finally met this amazing destiny, and poked her face.

Kaminari's eye twitched and she stared blankly at this male. Frozen in time for a moment of constant confusion, she could almost hear the crickets come out in the day light and a tumble weed passed them by. "Uh... Okay..." she thought to herself, as she lifted her right foot and spun in a perfect one eighty, now facing the opposite direction. Stepping forward, she began to quickly walk off, trying to distance herself from the strange male.

Kuro's mouth grew into a wide smile, for just a moment, before she suddenly turned around, leaving him holding up with his finger in the air, a blank look on his face.

"..."

The silence was nearly palpable on the shinigami's face as he watched the girl walking away, before deciding on something, giggling to himself. Piero~ He said inside his mind, not willing to let her go with ignoring him. What shall I do? He asked the ziamichi, expecting an interesting reply. Hmm. Well, if I were you, I'd take that piece of paper in her hands. Must be pretty important if she holds it instead of putting it in a pocket. The ziamichi said in reply, as Kuro's face broke out in another smile, seeing what the laughing gray meant as he lowered his center of gravity, holding both arms out to either side as he flashed away, using a shunpo.

Within the shunpo, his hand reached out, feeling the girl's hand as he unfolded her fingers, sliding the paper effortlessly into his grip, as he appeared in front of her, holding the fingers of his left hand in front of his face like a magnifying glass in front of his face as he examined it with a look on interest, before looking back up at her, blinking through the ring of his fingers as he held the paper loosely at his side.

"...If You just graduated, then why, Miss Kaminari, do you look so sad?"

He asked her, his right hand falling to his side as he blinked at her, a lost look on his face, honestly wondering, remembering how happy he had been when he got his letter... and then remembering how he had felt without knowing what squad he was going to be in.

"...Are you looking for a squad?" He asked her, tilting his head to the side as he blinked, his eyes becoming wide and bright as his left hand tugged at his cloak, making it look like he was going to take off his clothing...

And instead just revealed his Division 1 Lieutenant patch.

"There is no point in having power..."

Kaminari's eyes widened. She didn't even see him coming, nor did she realized he had taken the paper until he appeared completely in front of her. She blinked and looked down to her hands. She gasped, her eyes widening as she looked back up to him and saw the paper in his hand. She looked down again, then back up. Stepping forward, she reached out to it to try and get it back but he turned to her again. She froze, taking a step back as she heard the question that he was asking her. She looked off, lowering her head slightly as she thought about her situation and then sighed. She didn't really know how to explain it to anyone, and frankly she didn't really want to.

"Well I..." she was stopped mid-sentence when he asked her about looking for a squad. In a way, that was sort of her current problem. She didn't really know what to do when it comes to applying for a position, nor was she sure which Squad she wanted to join. She had her eyes on Squads Two and Seven because of people she knew in there. She looked down to something that he was showing her. At first she didn't realize what it was, but she leaned in to get a closer look. "He's... A Lieutenant?" she thought to herself, her hands raising in disbelief as she touched the patch.

She froze. Her body tensed up and a look of horror came onto her face. She stared at the patch, re-reading it multiple times to make sure she was not imagining things. She even went so far as to rubbing her eyes and looking again. Taking in a deep and nervous breath, she stood up completely straight and gulped. The look of horror she once had changed to a 'oh my god, what do I do?' look rather quickly. She glanced from her left to her right, trying to think of something to say or do. With how nervous she was feeling, she knew that she could not use her voice, so she took in a deep breath, closed her eyes, and let it out slowly. She was still nervous in his presence, but she felt like she could control herself at least slightly.

"Y-Yes..." she said in a whisper. The grip on her spiritual pressure immediately began to loosen and she raised her hand to grab tightly onto her throat as if it was going to help. She took another breath and then spoke again, having calmed herself. "I'm.. upset because I am not sure on where I go from here. There were times I never even thought I was going to graduate, so now to have graduated earlier than the people of my year... It's startling... a bit overwhelming... and I'm sort of scared." She explained the best she could without losing control. Letting go of her throat, she let out a stressed breath, sounding as if she had been holding it the entire time she had been speaking.

The shinigami blinked, before feeling her touching him in the chest, him taking a step back, lowering his body as he looked up at her in suspicion, his mouth down at the sides but straight in the center, a perplexed look on his face; not suspicious, exactly... like he was unsure of what she was doing, and it felt weird for a girl to be touching some part of him. What'd you get, Piero? He asked the spirit inside him; after all, his passive effect, Disturbed Energy field, took reiatsu that was on someone's skin whenever they entered a meter of his range.

...Nothing at all, ahahahah! Weak girl. Piero told him, as he refocused his attention to the girl in front of him, before straightening his spine, his white hair shifting as he brought up his left arm for a moment, staring at the obsidian-black colored limb, before looking past it at the now-frozen graduate, as his arm morphed, mutating into some kind of claw thing, each finger much longer and claw shaped as his hand stretched out, before poking her in the head with the same exact finger, now a little point; he didn't break the skin, but merely let it rest there, his left arm having stretched to reach her as she held her breath, closed her eyes, and began speaking.

So I was right then... Kuro thought to himself as she began speaking, so nervous sounding. Yeah, well, she's like trying to choke herself, ain't she? Piero replied, as Kuro's eyes looked up at her face, his gaze softening as he traced the claw down the right side of her face, running over the hand on her neck before falling to his left side, as he looked down towards the ground, embarrassed.

"...Sorry. You just... remind me of my old captain and lieutenant. Both of them were girls with their own difficulties, as well as an inner fire that inspired me... and still does..." He said with a light smile on his face. However, it was a bitter, cruel shadow of a smile; he himself could still feel the emptiness within him as he thought about the reason he had joined squad one in the first place. ...She destroyed central 46... for her own life... and left me confused, and Hinashi without a clue... What... was I supposed to do...? He wanted to ask, as a single, solitary tear ran down his face. However, his left hand shifted as he brought a hand up to his face, turning back into a regular arm as he ran a finger along his cheek, wiping away the tear. I said I wouldn't do this anymore...so why does this girl...? He wondered to himself, his eyes blinking for a moment, taking a deep breath as he opened his mouth to speak. His impulsiveness and emotions had already made this choice for him; however, there was something else. There was his memory of applying for first squad; and Jenna herself taking the squadless shinigami out on a mission; the Captain Commander out in broad daylight...

"How would you like to join Squad 1, one of the most important squads in all the Gotei?" He asked her as he leaned in, a smile on his face once more. "The past doesn't dictate your future. Or... it only can if you let it. Just accept it for what it is and choose to make yourself however you wish." He said, glancing up at the sky, talking as much to his own impulsive, serious self as much as the girl before him, the smile still on his face.

"Believe me when I say that it was scarier when the Captain Commander took a random shinigami out to fetch a box!" He said randomly, his smile now large on his face, as he remembered one of his memories of which he was so fond...

"There is no point in having power..."

The look on his face confused Kaminari immensely. She didn't know what to think about this Lieutenant of Squad One. Not only was he in Squad One, which made her believe he was seriously powerful, but he was the Lieutenant, one of the more higher ranking officers she had met. These circumstances gave her the right to be a little nervous. She watched as his arm morphed and blinked a few times. She didn't know what she felt now. Was it curiosity or was it fear? She hadn't seen anything like this the entire time she was in Shino Academy.

As his newly morphed arm reached up and touched her face, Kaminari couldn't help but let curiosity take over. She didn't move, but instead watched his arm closely as he once again poked her face. She reached up with the hand that was not on her throat and laid it on his arm just to see what it was made of. Since he stepped back last time she attempted to make physical contact with him, she didn't know what his reaction would be now, but at the same time she didn't think it very fair for him to continuously touch her face when they didn't even really know each other.

"I remind you of your old Captain?" she said softly and without the hand on her throat now. Her voice still seemed rather raspy, as if it was rarely used, but she should be easy to understand. "I... am not sure whether that would be a compliment or not." She raised an eyebrow at him until her eye caught something she definitely had no expected. "Honey, are you okay?" she tilted her head to the side and reached up to wipe the tear away, but he beat her to it. She didn't even realize that she had called him 'honey'. At times she would do things like that when she felt someone needed her help or was upset about something. He was obviously upset, or the memory of his old Captain really was not the best. "I'm sorry if I'm bringing up ba-" She was suddenly cut off when he spoke about her joining Squad 1.

"Uh..." she blinked in shock, not knowing what to say or how to reply to his question. "I-I-I'm not sure about that. I highly doubt that I am strong enough to join the Number One Squad... I don't know if I have the mentality for it either..." The words he said next hit her harder than he probably would have thought at first. Just like an over dramatic scene in a movie, she set her hand lightly on her chest and looked away.

For a moment Kaminari looked saddened, but then shook her head with a small smile soon forming along her features. Looking back up to him she shrugged, "I am not sure which Squad I will be joining, but I'll definitely be keeping Squad One in mind. I wouldn't mind working under someone that seems as fun as you. And who knows, you could probably help me get stronger too." She smiled kindly at him and placed her arms behind her back, cupping each hand within one another.

His hand was... cold. Like obsidian; it seemed as if it wasn't really a part of his body. However, it was soft; as soft as fur, something very strange given the good weight of his arm. It was truly strange, this arm; unique in shape and the way it acted. The contact was... HAHAHA... warm. Piero said within his mind, grinning to himself. He nearly laughed out loud at her serious action, his reaction instead turning into a small bout of giggling to himself as she looked so serious. Kuro himself wasn't really a serious person; some things lately had... changed that, a bit, but in the end, Kuro was Kuro. "I'm... sorry... you just... look so unnatural like that... I had to laugh a little." He explained, the smile on his face huge as he looked at her as she continued speaking.

"That I could. You wouldn't be the first; having a demon inside of you helps you understand others better than most. And incidentally, there's one giant difference between you and both my captain and vice captain, which keeps the memory from being sad." He said. as he took a step towards her, his impulse getting the better of him as his lips moved towards her face, kissing her on the cheek as with a laugh the lieutenant spun around, his right foot hitting the ground as he shunpo'ed away.... or seemed to, reappearing a few ways away atop on of the walls of the Shino Academy grounds, still looking over at her as he watched her reaction.

HA! Piero, I kissed a girl, I kissed a girl! He thought to himself like a little school boy in his head as he giggled to himself, hearing Piero laughing right along with him. Well, MASTER, sometimes, you do things that quite amuse me... AHahah! The ziamichi spirit said in reply as Kuro watched...

...And waited to see her reaction to his kiss.

Is that Red I spy on your face...?

"There is no point in having power..."

Kaminari was actually pleasantly surprised by the feel of his arm. For some reason she thought it to be some rough metal, but it was the complete opposite. Although she sort of wanted to rub it, she dropped her arm by her side and looked up to him. "I look... unnatural?" she blinked as she heard those words from his mouth, utter confusion in her eyes. She tilted her head to the side and then smiled at him. There was something about him that peaked her interest. She sort of liked him.

"One... giant difference, huh?" she mumbled as he stepped closer to her. She looked up to him, standing her ground. She was slightly nervous for a moment, but that changed to shock when she felt a small kiss being placed against her cheek. Her eyes widened and she gasped in a very quick intake of air. He turned away and shunpo'd off, leaving her there rather confused. She stood in that spot for a moment like a statue, not moving at all.

After a moment or two she raised her hand to her cheek. She glanced around, looking for him, but saw nothing. Had he really just kissed her and run off? She lowered her gaze to the floor slightly, a softened look coming to her face. A sweet smile formed on her lips, almost like she had sort of enjoyed what had just happened. Taking in a deep breath, she slowly let it out and turned back to the direction she had originally been walking. She slid her arms behind her back, cupping her hands within one another, and began walking off.

"You know... Now that I think about it..." As she walked she tilted her head to the side, thinking to herself, "I don't think he ever told me his name..." She turned a corner and continued walking, "And.. I think he still has my graduation letter." She mentally smacked herself and sighed, continuing on her way.

I'd say she rather enjoyed it, AHAHHA! The ziamichi spirit laughed inside of Kuro's mind, as the shinigami blinked in surprise. Well... that's good; woulda been pretty bad if she disliked it... Kuro thought to himself, a small amount of red coming to his own cheeks before he shook his head, clearing his thoughts before he heard Piero... again. ...Your right hand. Piero said, as Kuro looked down at it; Piero was now laughing his head off as Kuro's eyes widened in his skull, his mouth dropping as he had forgotten about her paper. Darn my impulsiveness...! He reflected as he thought on what to do, seeing her beginning to walk away as he reached inside a pocket of the haori beneath his cloak, gripping the tiny pencil he kept there as he grabbed it, whipping it out and writing on the paper as fast as he could with his right hand, his left shifting to accommodate the piece of paper.

Carp carp carp carp carp! Kuro thought as he saw her beginning to turn a corner, his arm firing out and stretching a huge amount as Piero guided the piece of paper, dropping it on the corner's other side. Now, she would be able to see it as soon as she turned the corner; and if she opened it up, she would find on its back, written very jointedly in horrible handwriting in all caps, but legible with decent observational skills...

"KURO OKAMI, SEE YOU SOON!"

His arm raced back to him as, embarrassed, he leaped from the wall, most likely giving off a noise that she could hear as he flew up into the air, before hitting down on a pulse step, looking back just once before he felt the buildup of Piero's energy in both legs; then vanished with a Pulse Step...

...He had just realized he was late for a Lieutenant Brunch.
