ARRANCAR

GENETICS

Character Name:
Desalmado

Character True Age:
521

Character Appearance Age:
12/mid 20's

Character Gender:
Male

Orientation:
Unaffiliated

Personality:
Desalmado as a technicality has two personalities; the more genuine of the two actually being the one rarely seen by most. The genuine Desalmado could be described as the ultimate escapist, willing to go so far as to limit his own power and play an elaborate game of pretend to avoid his past and present self. The other personality and the one most people understand Desalmado to be is actually an elaborate ruse by the former, an eternally childish persona.

<<'Childish' Desalmado>>
The Desalmado people know tends to be incredibly immature and excitable. A first impression would see Desalmado(Des for short) as akin to a high energy puppy. He's always smiling and laughing. When he's not laughing, he's putting on a comical face. Taking nothing seriously and turning even intense conflicts into a game, Desalmado is a little bundle of joy. He loves and is attached to everyone he meets, treating them all as friends even if they are in reality total strangers.

This side of Desalmado can brighten anyone's day. He takes life's problems in stride and holds no grudges against anyone, regardless of severity of the crime. Even violence against him is typically shrugged off as a game of tag or bloody knuckles. In a sense he can be like the eternal-child Peter Pan; Desalmado has no desire to get older and no want to be mature. He celebrates being a child for the sake of being a child, where everything is of interest to his curious mind and what isn't innately interesting is purely fun.

However, it's important to register the fact that Desalmado in this form is in fact a ruse put up by the genuine Desalmado. Although this ruse isn't obvious at first, there are multiple behavior patterns that arise in this more immature Desalmado which point towards keeping the game of pretend up for as long as possible. A few of these can come off as disquieting to others, for they are generally the behavior no child should act.

The first 'off' behavior pattern one might notice is that Desalmado is very quick to avoid subjects and pick up on subtleties one would think a child would be unable on noticing so quickly. Despite acting and appearing as a child, the younger Desalmado does understand more adult conversation perfectly well. However, despite being able to follow and react with a more mature quickness, he seems to contradictorily make statements that ignore blatant details in a situation or pretend he doesn't understand when he seems to understand perfectly well or later turns out to understand far more than was expected. This usually first appears to people as contradicting behavior behind Desalmado's claimed inability to read (or rather, he appears to ignore written words altogether) and the fact that, when the situation calls for it, he is able to read letters, instruction manuals, books, etc. without any apparent difficulty. This becomes even more confusing when this same contradictory behavior is applied to his interactions with people, where he will occasionally claim to be unable to do something on his own and then when it appears no one will help him, do it perfectly fine by himself. This can in part be attributed to a childish need for attention. However, to claim that the entire behavior pattern is for attention is generally a dangerously false assumption.

A less immediate behavior pattern may come to light after a longer period of time with the arrancar known as Desalmado. That is, his mental state is slanted into a particular bias that defines his entire existence. He completely ignores anything that runs contradictory to his bias, no matter how it affects those around him. It's important here to remember that this side of Desalmado is still in essence a very complicated persona assumed by a man who wanted to run from himself. Desalmado as people know him is unable to feel sorrow or regret. In fact, he unable to perceive anything negative to begin with. Even when it is specifically brought to his attention, he acts as if he is unable to to perceive it or sees it as something entirely different from what it is. As far as he understands, the world is nothing but joy and happiness, with no troubles more serious than a scraped knee that a mother kisses better. He loves everything and everyone and everything and everyone loves him. Nothing that goes against this exists in his perception, so it is the only truth. With the feverish zeal of a religious man, Desalmado will defend his bias with everything he has and if the situation calls for it he will attack and kill for it.

Desalmado's degree of bias to reality is extreme enough that his explanations to the world tends to leave gaping holes. People who've died either never existed to him or have went to live their own lives. Unable to cope with death, he sometimes refers to the dead as if they were still alive for months or even years after their passing. He'll look for them and ask people where they're hiding, making excuses such as a game of hide and seek or losing them after going to get ice cream. Then, suddenly, he'll never mention them at all as if they had never existed and, if presented with this, he has a tendency to pretend he's never heard of them. This happens especially with people he was very close to. For people he considered something like pseudo parents, this is almost always the result if they ever perish or if he goes his own way from them. For those he was less close to, likely he will remember them but only vaguely, glossing over details in favor of saying things like 'we played lots of games' and 'they were nice'. When asked what happened to these people, he usually doesn't respond to the question at all and pretends the person never asked anything at all.

This degree of bias doesn't extend only to death, of course. Desalmado will pretend away the existence of anything negative. He doesn't recognize fighting or pain. The concepts of sadness, regret, and wrongdoing are alien to him. The only sense of danger he recognizes is when he has to retreat for the sake of self-preservation and he will ignore that he ever retreated once it's in the past. His deceptive childishness and his tendency to hide his reiatsu(which of course he would never admit to) tend to have people try to teach him how reality really works. However, Desalmado knows exactly how reality works; he knows so much that he can simultaneously reject and accept reality at once. This common misunderstanding tends to break down any relationships with him very quickly and if it results in violence, his apparent low reiatsu leaves people surprised when he gets 'serious'.

However, the bias that Desalmado has when he runs into the world has its downfalls. Any ability to learn has been slowed to an almost halt. He can't understand when he does things wrong and that strips a fundamental aspect of learning from him. He can only recognize learning as doing something better and if he's happy with how he is, he's very likely to be stubborn towards new ways of doing anything. Secondly, he lacks a fear response and usually gets himself into trouble just by his inability to understand when a situation is dangerous for him. His only defense is his tendency to suppress his own reiatsu and high speed allowing him to get away when the time calls for it. It's a big world and he's just a little arrancar. That is, when he's not being genuine.

<<'Genuine' Desalmado>>
The genuine Desalmado is largely an enigma; few people know he exists and even fewer people have actually met him. First impressions of this real Desalmado are typically when he was forced against his will into his older self, meaning that likely the first meetings are with an angry and upset Desalmado and may not be accurate reflections. This bad first impression usually ruins potential friendships before they've really met and usually leaves everyone frustrated. However, after this more turbulent meeting, Desalmado tends to become a far more mature and reasonable person.

As can be inferred, the first impression of Desalmado are usually pretty terrible mostly because an upset Desalmado is not one anyone wants to contend with. His negative emotions tend to bleed into and feed off of each other, causing him to become irrationally angry in periods of great sadness and to become extremely sad whenever he's angry. His upset at being forced into his more genuine form renders him irrational to a fault at first and he may lash out at anyone, regardless of who and if they're trying to help him. Luckily, his short fuse also accompanies a fact that he can never stay upset for very long. Being so upset is fairly exhausting and the genuine Desalmado is not the ball of energy he pretends to be.

Once Desalmado gets over his upsetness, he becomes a far more reasonable character. Although it takes him some time to calm down completely, once he is he becomes far more reasonable. Firstly, he's a fairly open person. He understands his situation is not something people are used to, so he's willing to answer questions (though he has a tendency to avoid questions that make him uncomfortable). He's patient when people don't understand something and quickly corrects people when they've done something wrong.

The older, more genuine Desalmado, once he gets over being upset at someone, is not all that different from his younger persona. In many ways he acts somewhat immaturely; however, instead of being excited for games or ignoring when bad things happen, he tends to be naive when dealing with people and is fairly ignorant of day to day life. This happens because, in a sense, his long periods pretending to be his persona have essentially broken off his connection to reality and he knows it. Most commonly this comes up as him not knowing current events or being surprised by new technology. He's also willing to jump into new technology, retaining that curiosity towards everything that his smaller persona has.

Desalmado however is extremely escapist, as obvious from the amount of trouble he goes through to assume his younger persona. He can't simply ignore things like he usually does, so instead he becomes very avoidant when approached with subjects that make him uncomfortable. Many people don't actually notice when he's behaving in this manner unless they're insistent on the topic matter at hand (at which point it becomes obvious). He has a tendency to sneak around and hide in places that don't seem feasible to get into. Any relationships with him are extremely brief before he runs off somewhere and reverts back to his childish self. When he's not given the opportunity to do so, he tends to get fairly nervous and has a habit of clicking his metallic claws against one another to show nervousness.

There are few things the arrancar dislikes being around more than children. Children to him represent what he wants to be- a human child. He tends to be full of regret from his shoddy childhood and is awkward around children, mostly because he doesn't know how to treat them properly. Though people may consider this rather creepy, Desalmado likes watching children from afar and in his older state may go out of his way to watch children play. Although he's awkward while dealing with children, he still idolizes innocence and enjoys watching it. This also means he's extremely protective of children (for to him they are like what he wishes he was) and will punish or attack anyone he perceives as a child abuser.

Desalmado by default has very little trust in those around him. This distrust has very little to do with whether or not he actually likes a person. Mostly, this is because he's only used to trusting one or two people with everyone else being the 'enemy'. It is mostly due to this distrust (also his tendency to avoid staying in his 'genuine' form very long) that he's avoided any faction up until this point. He trusts people about as well as he can throw them (he can barely lift your average person) no matter how polite or friendly they are. He's a firm believer that actions are louder than words and largely won't believe a person is genuinely good until it's proven to him through a 'good' act. Once he trusts people, he holds them to it; anything that breaks his trust essentially loses their chance of regaining any trust from him. He holds very long grudges(though typically not for small stuff), though this is not because of any particular grudge-holding determination he has.

To put it simply, time to an older Desalmado is meaningless. Once he falls into his young personality, everything becomes a pastel colored blur in which everything is momentary and eternal at once. When he goes back to being an adult, he is usually disoriented and any passage of time that occurred when he was a child feels like no passage of time at all. For this reason, he may appear to do things like hold grudges for long periods of time or be favorable to a person for an event that's happened a long time ago. Usually when this is brought to his attention, he'll let go of his grudges and do his best to stay in the present.

Being that his existence flits between being a happy child and being a miserable adult, Desalmado is prone to melancholy. He'll remember people that his child self abandoned or forcibly forgot and mourn their passing. Even if they're still alive, he has no intention of talking to them or attempting to make amends. Despite holding regrets and tending to fall into a melancholic stupor, Desalmado doesn't believe in making up for past wrongs when it comes to finding and meeting up with lost people. It's not because he's particularly desiring to live with his regrets and melancholy; it's just more comfortable to be regretful and melancholic when the other option is to track down and talk to someone. He'd rather simply run away from his regrets than live with them, turning back to his old habit of reverting to a child in order to escape being himself.

Life is not all misery and unhappiness with an older Desalmado, however. He is an incredibly gentle soul once one gets to know him. He's the kind of guy that would rather sit and ponder the stars with someone than go out and get wasted at some party. Of course, some times call for that level of letting go- but that's hard for Des. It's rare in his life that his thoughts are so clear, as normally they're muddled by being an excessive child. He doesn't want to spend his times of clarity by doing things made to avoid being in a clear state of mind. Desalmado tends to instead spend his time pondering his navel about all things. He tales advantage of the fact that for rare moments in his life he is truly able to appreciate all things small and large. He can feel alive by understanding what death is. He can feel pain and then take pleasure in his knowledge that he can recognize it. However, these feelings quickly fade and he eventually shuts himself into practical unconsciousness, going back to being a child, to that blur of pastel joy. It's easier to pretend than it is to remember and he follows it to a T.

PAST

History:
Desalmado was born a bright eyed child under the name of Willam. He had a loving mother, a busybody father, and 2 older brothers who took after their dad. They all lived in a cozy little house with a white picket fence. It was a picture perfect family. However, little William quickly showed himself as far from normal. It started, simply enough, with William beginning to react to things oddly. When given questions, he made no sense in his answers. He wasn't responsive to emotional and social cues. He claimed to hear voices beyond that of an invisible friend.

As he grew older, he only grew worse. He found himself threatening students in kindergarten, believing they were going to hurt him. Though he tried to justify as best he could, his stuttered words and his inability to properly speak what he meant or express himself rendered this attempts a universal failure. He only trusted his mother then, for she was the only one who seemed to understand and comfort him. Even when the voices harassed and wouldn't leave him alone, even when he was incoherent, even when the world was confusing and frightening he could always hide in his mother's arms and feel safe.

However, these delusions and this mental incoherence became largely unbearable fo his father, who considered William's existence shameful. After William was expelled from school, he was moved to a hospital. Back in those days, mental wards weren't great for the mentally ill. They were fraught with abusive medical staff, terrible and ineffective therapies, and of course the miserable and the insane. Amongst the chaos was little William who spent most of his time then just staring out of a window from his bedside. He was only responsive towards his mother and practically catatonic towards everybody else.

William's mother visited him every day. She would feed him and bathe him, for he was uncooperative with anyone else. He'd tell her all the things he felt and experienced in his incoherent language, shaking in her arms. The mother comforted him best he could, for she knew he probably wouldn't have long to live. William's father had signed over a contract allowing the doctors to test brain surgery on him. She wasn't there for his surgery. No one was there when they forced the mask onto his face and tied him down. The surgeon's hand slipped and an artery was struck. William's life drained away on the table and dripped to the floor.

Such a place was a popular hollow visiting site. Demihollows were frequently stuck here. Souls died and were eaten regularly and William was no exception. William didn't see it coming when he was swallowed up by another hollow. In moments he ceased to be the confused soul and became a huge beast. Like all other hollow, the immature Desalmado first ran to the place of the one closest to him- his mother, of course. He followed her and stalked her, without her knowledge. He watcher her mourn over his grave and an emotion he didn't understand welled up in his beastly body. The mother turned and saw a monster, but the monster didn't attack. Instead, it curled around her, nuzzling into her breast with its searing touch and backing away when it realized its touch only brought pain.

"...William?"

The hollow should've attacked and killed her then. But it didn't. The mother began to walk home and her hollow son followed her with all the obedience of a well-mannered dog. The hollow was confused. Who was this woman? Why did he feel so connected to her? Why, when he was so hungry, did he have no desire to consume her? What was that name she said and why did he recognize it?

Soon, he was made to remember. The mother kept the monstrosity that was her son in her room and he rarely left her side. She showed him pictures of himself as a human. Happy, smiling, scared of the candles on his first birthday, struggling to blow them out on his second. She told him tales of how he was as a child. Told him of the hospital and his father and his brothers. William was made to remember them all and quelled his inner beast in order to be with her just a day longer, just a week longer, as the months bled into years.

The mother was, however, far from immortal. Her remaining life was short relative to that of her monster son. When she died, in his upsetness, William consumed his mother and ran into Hueco Mundo. However long that was, he didn't know. There was no day or passage of time in that land of shadow and sands. Every day was the same. William gradually came under a new name, Desalmado. For a blurry eternity he avoided what was stronger than him and consumed what was weaker.

Even as a Menos Grande, he consumed others so long as he was stronger. Life was as simple as not dying, not getting eaten, ripping to shreds in an anger and rage and hunger he couldn't understand and couldn't control himself to. He didn't know how many he consumed, he just knew he hungered and his hunger was insatiable. Desalmado didn't even recognize his own power at that point, for nothing mattered but the hunger within him. As time passed by, he began to grow smaller and condense. His body became multiple segments and multiple legs. A condensed centipede.

As an adjucas, Desalmado slowly began to wake up from his hunger. He began to understand what it meant, this hunger of his. It could never be filled. Yet, it didn't stop him from hunting. He began to have thoughts to himself, of what he was and who he used to be. A nagging feeling began he couldn't shake off. It was easier just not to think, merely consume and destroy. Occasionally clarity would come to him and he would remember something. A smiling face, or warm hands. A picture book and something about fire. Something sweet tasting.

As he grew stronger, Desalmado also became more aware. He'd remember whole memories. His time at the hospital and that lady that was always kind. Never was she angry. Never was she hot-tempered or impatient. Occasionally he'd remember something of pain and he'd run into something, gnawing into their flesh in attempts to drown out the agony with meat. He became more of a risk-taker. Sometimes he'd purposefully run into a place with stronger hollow just to bite a piece of them and run off. He became excellent at that in particular, running up to any number of stronger beasts and biting into their flesh before using his flat, flexible body to hide in crevices they couldn't reach.

It was through this method of attacking creatures far stronger than he was that he grew to become a Vasto Lorde. It was when it struck him. He essentially killed and ate his own mother. He was a monster of the highest degree and he could never go back. Regret sunk their teeth into his mind and refused to let go.

Then, in his despair, he heard the whispering of hollow. They told of a shinigami who had arrived in Hueco Mundo. A shinigami! He carried with him something that could make one stronger than any hollow. Supposedly, this shinigami could even change their natures with this object he had. Desalmado began to tromp his way to this shinigami. Even if it was a trap, even if it meant his death, does it matter? It was a chance for him to change how he was, maybe live the childhood that had been snatched away from him. He arrived and demanded from his Aizen fellow the ability to forget. Aizen granted it to him, in exchange for his service.

However, it also meant Desalmado no longer remembered his pledge of service to Aizen. Once he found the opportunity to, the child ran into the sands with his blade and never came back. It was easy to let go of a single, weak arrancar those days. Aizen had his Espada. Desalmado was nothing to such powers. He never looked back and ran to his beautiful, big world, happy and eager to experience everything as joyously as possible (and occasionally beyond).

The rest, as they say, is history.

APPEARANCE

Appearance:

The younger Desalmado is essentially the younger version of the older Des. They both have the same generally ragged, unkempt, and somewhat sickly appearance. Their skin is pallid, their eyes generally gaunt. Their clothes are uniform hospital outfits, far from comfortable. They both have the same dark hair, with the exact color unsure from the mess of muck, grime, and blood mixed in with actual hair. Their eyes sink into their skulls as if lacking sleep or hydration. The color of their eyes are best described between light gray and silver, depending on how the light strikes them.

<<'Childish' Desalmado>>
Hugs Please~
The childish Desalmado is quite small for his age. This is due to the fact that his child appearance is dependent almost wholly dependent on his appearance when he was still a living, breathing child. As a child, his growth was stunted since he refused to ear or drink the majority of foods given to him. The attempted replication of Desalmado as a child to his William self is down to even small details. For example, when pinching his skin, it will remain pinched when let go for some time- a sure sign of dehydration. However, this sickly and dehydrated form doesn't actually reflect that he is in any danger of starvation or death. This causes him to appear sickly and weak as an arrancar, something that is a dangerous assumption to make around him.

Des in this form has overly large clothes, making his body appearing even more fragile and small because of it. He has no shoes or any accessories on his body (excepting zanpakutô and equipments). The degree of how oversized his clothes are is so extreme one usually has to wonder how he doesn't trip over himself. His limbs are rarely seen under the swaths of cloth that flow against his skin as easily as if there was nothing under the clothing. The proof otherwise is his centipede mask fragments can be seen from underneath his clothes.

The skin itself is almost completely unmarked and smooth to the point of hairlessness. His flesh is soft to the touch and easily bruises under any drama, attesting to his low hierro. Touching him and feeling his body reveals no muscle definition at all, something that contradicts his ability to fight and run with supernatural ability. His skin is as white as almost impossibly pallid. This, along with his dark hair and silver eyes, causes him to appear remarkably monochrome no matter the color around him.

One of the most defining traits involving Desalmado's appearance is his facial expression. He tends to have very wide eyes that flip nervously to anything that moves and it's very rare he will meet someone's gaze or focus his sights towards anything in particular. This, coupled with the fact his smile rarely ever quite meets his eyes, usually causes him to look panicked and in search of somewhere to run and hide while the rest of his face remains 'stuck'. He also tends to adopt a frozen expression by default best described as a 'mid laugh'. His mouth will hang slightly open in a large smile, revealing pointy teeth and a pale, pink tongue. This frozen expression rarely changes as he wanders the world, giving impressions of uncanny valley and a 'doll-like' appearance wherever he may go. Luckily, this disquieting face isn't as unnerving when Desalmado speaks, eats, changes expression temporarily, or any other usage of facial muscles. However, as soon as it's done, it's back to his default, froze expression.

<<'Genuine' Desalmado>>
The more genuine Desalmado's appearance is far from that of a child. It would be more accurate to describe him as a young adult, still rather small and thin but not as malnourished or as dehydrated as his younger counterpart. This form arose mostly to reflect that despite having died a child, his maturity is far from childish. Likely, if it wasn't for his time spent with his mother as a hollow, he would not have this split at all and likely remain in a more childish form.

The main difference between Desalmado and his younger persona is age appearance. Desalmado now fits in well with his clothes, though they are torn and ripped as if they had weathered along with him. His hair remains the same, grimy and dirty and relatively short. He still appears somewhat sickly but no longer shows signs of malnutrition or dehydration. His body now is more defined, full of cuts and scars from multiple fights (some of them self-inflicted) and lightly muscled.

Much like a certain scrivener named Bartleby, Desalmado's presence can be described as apparition-like. His footsteps are light enough to be unnoticeable. When he moves, it is with absolute silence. He appears and disappears from people, rather than walking up to or away from them. It's hard to detect his presence, both because of his reiatsu suppression and his very light presence. Although he does not mean it, he can sometimes easily sneak up to and surprise people and people frequently forget his presence in an area.

Desalmado's expression in this form can be described as constantly forlorn. His eyes never quite seem to focus. However, rather than the panicked flitting movements of his younger form, the more genuine Des appears to be staring at all times something that is impossibly far away. Rather than looking at someone, he frequently appears to look past them. On the rare occasions where he focuses his gaze, the stare can be described as piercing and also unbearably sad. He rarely smiles, though when he does it never reaches his eyes and always seems fairly forced.

Bone Appearance:
Desalmado's bone fragments actually appear as a large centipede that crawls down his face and curls in a spiral around his chest hole before finally slipping in. It's the only warning sign that the younger Desalmado is getting upset, since it rattles when he's unhappy. The genuine Desalmado's centipede appears extremely withered, with the antennae and legs worn to almost nonexistence and the centipede itself having cracks in it. This more weathered centipede doesn't rattle.

Hollow Hole:
Desalmado's hole is right in the center of his chest, where his centipede slips in.

reiatsu Colour:
Desalmado's reiatsu color is a dark, almost entirely opaque red.

SEALED STATE

Sealed Zanpakutô:
Desalmado's sealed Zanpakutō doesn't change in appearance between their ages. While it looks like a perfectly good size for the genuine Des, the younger Des tends to not know what to do with it. Frequently, the younger Des slings it onto his back or runs while holding the sheath in either a hand or his mouth. The sheath is stark white like the rest of him, but the blade itself is black. It only has one serrated edge. The other edge is smooth and only somewhat sharp. The sword itself appears to be largely unbalanced and made to deliver open tears into flesh after stabbing in and being pulled back out. Fighting with the unbalanced blade in this manner is fairly difficult, so it is likely from examination alone that the blade is not necessarily used for fighting.

Racial Abilities:

    <<'Childish' Desalmado>>
  • Sonido
Desalmado's sonido in this form tends to be quite fast, although loud and noticeable. It's extremely efficient in terms of reiatsu consumption. This is because after a fight or during a fight where Desalmado might lose, his fast and efficient sonido will allow him to make a quick escape when necessary.
  • Cero/Bala
Desalmado's cero and bala are extremely inefficient in terms of reiatsu consumption. They're not very strong either. However, they are very fast and can take a person by surprise. This would require strategy and Desalmado is far from a strategist. It's rare for him to use this attack because of it. He has been known to fire a cero via his mouth, through he shows far more variety in his balas. Desalmado's bala typically is fired in a somewhat comical manner through his hands. For example, he can make a 'gun' with one of his hands and 'fire' a bala in that manner.
  • Hierro
Desalmado's hierro is laughably weak. Although stronger than the skin of a typical person, it is still incredibly flimsy when compared to even the lowest standards of hollow. Expect him to be cut up by relatively minor impacts.
  • Perquisa
Desalmado's perquisa is wide in range and somewhat accurate. He's able to tell the general power level of anyone in his general vicinity with a surprising degree of detail. This is mostly so that he can subconsciously avoid anyone that is far stronger than him. However, Desalmado can consciously ignore this avoidance if it's of an interesting nature and investigate. His perquisa however is not as accurate as his older self and is only so sensitive for the primary reason of sniffing out trouble before it starts.
  • Regeneration
Desalmado's regeneration abilities are very effective to make up for the lack of hierro. This is to be expected. However, an interesting quirk of Desalmado is that he is able to change the rate of regeneration from injury to injury. For some wounds, he can completely stop the regeneration process altogether, or speed it up for other wounds. However, a speeding up on a large amount of wounds costs an exponential amount of reiatsu and is only typically used during life-threatening injury. Desalmado must focus and concentrate in order to show his regeneration-manipulating abilities- should he be distracted or given head trauma he'll be unable to use this ability.

    <<'Genuine' Desalmado>>
  • Sonido
Desalmado's older form is stronger and better than his younger form, and it shows through his abilities. An example of this would be his sonido. It is now even more efficient than before, less showy. In fact, his sonido leaves almost no impression or sound, making him hard to detect when he's moving quickly. However, he's somewhat sacrificed his speed for this more hidden motive of moving. Because running away is no longer the main reason he would use a sonido, he no longer travels as quickly as he once did. However, his speed is still nothing to sneeze at.
  • Cero/Bala
Desalmado's cero and bala have gone the way of his sonido. Though still relatively inefficient at reiatsu consumption, they have now become almost silent are faster, packing a larger punch than before. Desalmado will fire a cero or bala in an attempt to confuse an enemy. The cero is fired by his making a circular motion in the air with a finger, the time required to charge it being the time the circle is completed. Balas are typically fired by making a flicking motion with one of his hands. He has been known to change these gestures when necessary. Exclusively in the older form, Desalmado is able to use the Gran Rey cero. This cero, like his others, is relatively quiet (however not as silent as his normal cero and bala) and can be deadly if caught off guard. In ressereccion, Desalmado can produce a Gran Rey with even more power depending on the volume of blood at exponential cost.
  • Hierro
Desalmado's hierro hasn't changed from his younger form. It's perhaps even more laughable now when compared with his other abilities.
  • Perquisa
Desalmado's perquisa has become a finely tuned instrument. He is now able to accurately gauge location, power, and various other quirks (cero vs bala, shinigami vs hollow, etc) when sensing the spiritual energy of those around him. It is so finely tuned that supposedly he is able to fight blind and deaf from perquisa alone, so long as he knows his surroundings. As a consequence, he no longer has the extreme range that his younger self does (though his range is still nothing to sneeze at). As an added caution, Desalmado can become overwhelmed when exposed to a very high amount of spiritual energy or a horde of a variety of different spiritual energies. However, Desalmado uses his perquisa to avoid putting himself in such a situation and therefore it is rare for him to become overwhelmed.
  • Regeneration
Desalmado's regeneration is now faster and more effective than his younger counterpart. He is capable of regenerating what most would consider a lost cause. Furthermore, he is able now to manipulate his regeneration abilities far more easily than before and his concentration is much harder to lose in this respect. Although the relative reiatsu cost to speed up regeneration is still relatively high, it now takes up proportionally less in Desalmado's reiatsu bank.

Unique Abilities:
Other than the aforementioned ability to control their regeneration process, Desalmado of both forms is able to use his main resereccion ability, manipulation of his own blood, outside of resereccion. The downside is that it is less effective than when in resereccion. The older Desalmado is able to use this ability with the effectiveness of the younger form's resereccion while out of his own resereccion. The amount of blood possible to be manipulated has not yet seen a limit from both forms without first running out of usable blood.

The younger Desalmado's blood manipulation abilities appear to stem mostly from his subconscious. The blood almost always reacts in a defensive manner and is capable of condensing close enough to form a near-solid material as well as expanding enough to become a fog. The range of this ability is somewhat limited and Desalmado's conscious attempt to manipulate his own blood usually comes off as clumsy. For example, he may try to manipulate his blood upwards, of which he may fling it so high that it goes out of his range on accident. The childish Des has an easier time manipulating his blood when it is in physical contact with him and if this physical contact is maintained, he is capable of retaining the blood for long periods of time. When not in contact, the blood is harder to maintain and manipulate consciously, so he rarely does so. The blood, when idle, has a tendency to mold into various shapes depending on his current train of thought.

The older Desalmado is capable of manipulating his blood with a skill and finesse comparable to his younger form's resereccion. The range is far wider and he is capable of semi-consciously manipulating the liquid into a range between gaseous and near-solid forms. It could perhaps be better stated that he has increased synchronicity with his blood and they flow to his thoughts fairly well (but not as well as his resereccion). He is capable of keeping his blood with him even while unconscious, however without thought he is unable to move the blood; it will act on its own to coat his body in a defensive measure against attack.

RESERECCION

Resereccion Name:
Marionetista

Resereccion Release Phrase:
Tortura-mi, Marionetista !

Release Actions:
Both versions of Desalmado must coat their blade with their own blood for resereccion to take place. While the younger form tends to simply slice at his arm or deepen an already existing wound, the older Desalmado is more likely to perform more dramatic actions such as slitting his throat (not deep enough to be fatal) or skinning off a piece of his arm or face.

Resereccion Appearance:
Desalmado's resereccion appearance varies from childish and genuine. The childish Des appears to return to his adjucas form while the older Des reflects more of his time as a vasto lorde. The younger Des can have a 'second resereccion' by transforming into his older form while in his current resereccion. This is different from a Seguna Etapa as he is not elevating to a new level of power; instead, he is merely regaining the power he should have. However, this can easily be mistaken for an elevated resereccion and can work for intimidation purposes. If Des is in his genuine form already, he doesn't need to go through the process of a false second resereccion.

<<'Childish' Desalmado>>
The childish Desalmado returns to his form as an adjucas rather than that of a vasto lorde, the reason likely being that to come to his vasto lorde self would be to 'break' his farce. After wetting the blade with his own blood, his sword will appear to liquefy and separate into multiple large needles. These needles then pierce his skin, usually in his major arteries and veins as well as his joints. The ensuing gush of blood wraps around him, hiding him from view during his transformation. When the blood reveals him, he is fully transformed. The blood during that time is quite hard to ensure that this process isn't interrupted.

The first noticeable in Desalmado's resureccion form is that his mask fragments seem to have disappeared entirely. The centipede that was on his face and chest now appear to have grown larger and fused into his spine, growing out into a tail behind him. The head of the centipede has been replaced with Desalmado's head, now an odd fusion between insect and person.

Upon closer examination, it appears that Desalmado's body has become more resembling of a centipede. His torso and ribs are lined with large, pulsing centipede legs made from the same substance as his mask fragments. His arms and legs become jointed much like an arthropod and develop spines. Down his neck and torso can be found sphiracles, although they don't appear to have respiratory functions.

Desalmado's face becomes close to a centipede's head. Large mandibles jut out from where his lower jaw meets upper jaw. These mandibles are capable of movement on their own and can deliver a painful bite should someone get too close. These mandibles also make it difficult for Desalmado speak. As such, he will rarely do so. When he does, he will speak with an entertaining lisp. His eyes also become large, but do not change their structure. Two white antennae poke out from his head of black hair; they occasionally will move to sound.

<<'Genuine' Desalmado>>
The genuine Desalmado appears to reflect his vasto lorde form, which is remarkably different from his adjucas form. The insect-like aspects about him are markedly more subtle than those of his younger form. When he wets his blade with his blood, the blade itself appears to evaporate into the air. The centipede on his face will retreat into his skin and crawl underneath his skin (one can see the bumps) to his face, where it will break the skin to cover his forehead and sprout out to appear like an uplifted face mask with false insect eyes, immobile jaws and antennae that arch back over his hair. He can at will put this mask on but usually leaves it how it is.

Desalmado's sword with rematerialize as three different objects; two pairs of shackles and one collar. These shackles and collar are spiked on the inside. They place themselves around his arms, legs and neck, piercing the skin underneath. It's important to note that the chains of the shackles are broken, allowing him for freedom of movement. This does not appear to be a weapon but can provide an impromptu whip when necessary.

However, the most drastic change is inside his body. His body will change to a circulatory system similar to that of an insect's in order for his body to not require as much blood as it usually would. Every blood vessel in his body will proceed to 'burst', causing him to bleed out of his mouth, eyes, ears and nose as it breaks the skin where it's near the surface. It is only after this happens that his resereccion can be considered complete.

Resereccion Abilities:
Both older and younger Desalmado forms will have enhanced ability to use their blood. This enhancement is proportionally the same. However, due to the self-afflicted stunt in power, the genuine Deslmado's power is exponentially stronger. It is important to note that Desalmado's fighting ability rely heavily on his ability to take and sustain wounds. A battle with him is essentially who can outlast who.

<<'Childish' Desalmado>>
The childish Desalmado form resereccion grants him far more ability with his blood. He is capable of using it in a wide range and in many forms. Although this is specialized, it's not as specialized as his other form. Desalmado in resereccion is capable of manipulating his blood into complex shapes and weapons, whatever he can think of really. His blood however is only capable of being utilized if they're not damaged. In other words, if it damages his blood it is rendered unusable. Examples of such things are extremes in temperature (fire, ice, etc), acids, poisons and venom made specifically to attack tissues, etc. This, paired with his regeneration, enables him to have a high amount of blood to use.

However, he must dedicate almost all of his reiatsu to regeneration and his small body allows him only so much blood to use, even with regeneration. Because of the large needles in his joints, he becomes something like a sitting duck for injuries. Despite high regeneration abilities, he usually must attempt to end the fight as soon as possible. The longer the battle lasts, the less reiatsu he has to continue his regeneration. If he begins to lose blood in excess without speeding his regeneration, he becomes unable to think and judge properly due to lack of blood in his brain. To try and circumvent this, Desalmado is capable of manipulating his blood so that it can continue to circulate even if he has a fatal cut in a major vein or artery.

Occasionally, there will be damage to organs. Desalmado is able to use his blood itself as a replacement. For example, should he take damage to one of his lungs, he is able to pull oxygen directly from the air. If he takes damage to his digestive system, he can temporarily spend extra reiatsu to form a 'stomach' to digest food made from his blood until it heals back. This is costly reiatsu and blood wise and only done in life-threatening positions. At this point he will usually be forced to retreat because of his injuries.

<<'Genuine' Desalmado>>
The more genuine Desalmado is capable of doing a lot more with his blood. On top of his childish self, he has the advantages of having more reiatsu to spend and a larger body with more blood. Furthermore, his turning his circulatory system allows him to use even more blood as he doesn't need a lot of blood to remain alive. He can do much more with his abilities, so specialized that he can manipulate even the molecules of his blood if he need be. This is especially dangerous as his blood can hold and retain poisons with no damage to himself in this resereccion. In simpler terms, he can not only attack with his blood, he can also use his blood as a tissue-eating poison.

His ability to manipulate his blood more closely means he and his blood acquire ear perfect synchronicity. He doesn't have to really think to manipulate his blood as much as it comes instinctively to him. This means that he doesn't have to fight while conscious. Regularly in fights he will begin to drift in and out of consciousness from blood loss (and low oxygen, as an insect's circulatory system was never meant for large bodies) but it doesn't make him any less apt in a fight.

Although this may not become obvious at first, his blood manipulation allows for even more flexibility. Not only can he technically craft poisons out of his blood cells, he can also use them to slip into someone else's injuries and wreak havoc on their own circulatory system. Anyone that is cut by him usually also acquires swelling and bruises around the area as the few blood cells that remain at the injury begin to attack the site of the injury before they are eliminated by the immune system of the enemy.

The last note to express is that Desalmado can now last much, much longer and hit with far greater force. With his greater reiatsu bank, he can now regenerate for far longer and his mind doesn't have to keep conscious track of everything unlike his younger form. He now has extra reiatsu to spend on cero, bala, and powerful gran rey ceros using a large chunk of his blood to power it. From all these aspects, the genuine Desalmado is a terrible and bloody fight to tangle with, with generally long-lasting injuries on both sides regardless of victory.
