Viktor Kiriyenko Meshcheryakova [APPROVED, 1-1+]
Sat May 19, 2012 4:05 am
Name: Viktor Kiriyenko Meshcheryakova
ALIAS: The Undying Flame
Gender: Male
Age: Approximately 4,970 - Looks to be about 27
The Host Race: Human
Personality: Powerful, ambitious, overzealous. On the surface, Viktor seems to be a shallow and self-absorbed man, infamous among all of the people he has experienced for the generally selfish and narcissistic aura that he continually gives off. Arrogant, haughty and temperamental beyond belief, he is generally wont to act in an ostentatious manner and appears to act mostly out of self-interest rather than any sort of philanthropy. This involves him quite often giving to others, though only to further his own plans; as well as putting himself ahead of others in order to strengthen his placing in the world. He comes off to most as a sort of cocky layabout, sitting idly with an amused smile on his face as he procrastinates, but quick to take action when it appears that there is glory to be gained. This lazy demeanour gives people quick reason to turn away from him and to push him down, and he has found himself without a paddle many a time because of it.
As well as this, he has been noted as being exceptionally manipulative and cunning, putting plans into motion at least five steps ahead of both his allies and his enemies, as well as being prepared for as many possible outcomes as he can consider. There have been times when he has been able to force others to act and make decisions without actually appearing to have been an influence at all--this skill has given him ways of remaining in the shadows all of these years. Another issue is that he is apparently an incorrigible womanizer, prone to flirting heavily whether on or off the battlefield. This has given him a mixture of popularity and disdain, as some have found their own lovers taken away from them at short notice.
However, while these traits do have a place in his real personality, much of his outward persona can perhaps be considered an intentional façade perfectly designed to cause those unfamiliar with him to underestimate his remarkable intelligence and ability. In fact, a lot of it is created in order to hide the true self of Viktor. An expert tactician, Viktor is highly skilled in various strains of combat-theory and particularly talented in the realms of surreptitious information-gathering, covert operations and enemy ensnarement. These skills, combined with the façade that he gives off, are designed to allow for optimal survivability conditions, as well as allowing himself to hide within plain sight in the midst of the world.
Though he may hide it behind a veil of cynicism and self-importance, Viktor is a man who is deeply loyal and devoted to the people that he truly puts close to his heart. Although they may be few and far between, these are the people who he'll put his immortal body on the line for. As a man with considerable power, Viktor considers himself a protector to those without and acts accordingly. Unfortunately, his self-imposed position as protector has caused him to display a penchant toward stubbornness in regards to his pride on the field and a fiery temper, both of which have been shown to cloud his judgment in certain situations.
Background:
Chapter 1: In The Beginning - 5000 years ago.
In the beginning, he was not known as Viktor. In the beginning, he did not live in the icy wastes of the Russian Archipelago. Known as a man named Utu, he lived in the Kingdom of Uruk, under the wisdom of the great King of Heroes, Gilgamesh. A simple slave by nature--under the name "Slave Number 23", he only had a name for reasons that he could not explain. In this life, he had a single friend. This friend's name was Kur, or "Slave Number 19". These two were close, spending most of their time away from the workplaces together. They did not mind being whipped for their transgressions, as it always seemed to be worth the trouble for this pair.
As time went on, however, Utu began to change. Taken over by illness, he eventually became critical and bedridden. Unable to work or move, the man knew that his life was slowly beginning to end... and he did not desire that, nor did his friend. Taking Utu away from Uruk, Kur lead him to a neighboring country--an area that was filled with their enemies. It took him weeks and weeks, but Kur, a man with skills that he would never truly explain, created a large circle surrounding the country, placing his friend directly in the centre.
"K-Kur... what are you... doing?" Looking up at the man that stood over him, the nearly-dead man was starting to see double, even triple. They had been in this country for months now, away from their home. Utu had to wonder--what was Kur thinking?! This place... if they were discovered, they would be tortured and killed; oh well, at least it would be a nicer death than dying of this damned illness. The look on the face of the other man was dark, scary, almost demonic, as he looked down on his friend with a cruel smile. "This saves two problems. Two people will destroy a country of our enemies." Utu felt his body shaking, shivering, scared of the future now. "I'll see you around, Utu." Leaning forwards, Kur placed his hands onto the chest of his friend, suddenly sending out a large sprawling energy through the circle that had been carved into the country. The energy, originally blue, changed even further, sprawling out and inwards, slowly turning red. Even from this small room, Utu could hear the sounds of humans screaming and shouting, running away from the inevitable. Within a minute, that screaming stopped short, and Utu looked up to find Kur. "Kur! KUR! KUR?!" Flopped over his body was the body of his friend, soul completely gone. Looking out the window, Utu saw it. There was nobody there. There were bodies, but not souls. Just... hundreds of thousands of people, gone. Where were--"AHHHHH! IT HURTS!" The sound of a voice entered his ear, and he quickly turned to try and find the source. Nowhere. No people... the voice was coming from within his body, within his mind...
Chapter 2: New-Found Immortality - 5000 Years Ago
For days, Utu would wander the lands of his enemy, looking for even a singular sign of life. The bodies of the now-dead and soulless lay sprawled out over the grounds as he walked, and he could not hear a single sound coming from anywhere in this world. Although he could not hear sounds coming from anywhere in the world, he started to hear other voices--these ones came from within. His sickness and friend both gone, Utu still knew that he would not be able to return home, for he had run away from this land. The voices cried out at him, telling him that he was an evil man, that he deserved to die--he wanted to. He wanted to, with all of his heart, to just keel over and leave this world. However, would that do anything? Would that allow him to be able to fix Kur's mistakes? Utu knew that it wouldn't. In fact, he knew all too well that it would do nothing of the sort. Instead, he needed to find a way to fix it properly. Without simply falling over and letting his body decompose into the ground.
So, he began to talk to them.
Chapter 3: Immortal Woman - 3000 years ago
"Hey, did you hear? There's some small village out there that has been guarded for over ten years. Nobody can get in there, and apparently it's only one woman." Hrn? Turning towards the sounds of the voices, the dark-haired man blinked and stared. What did they mean, a village that has been guarded for over ten years? Would bandits not have reached their shores by now? Stepping in closer, Utu would hear a few more muttered words, and then... [i]"Savan's offered a bounty. If someone can bring him the wench's head, he'll give them a King's fortune in gold. He wants that village, and its resources." Hm. A way to earn extra money, it seemed. Chuckling softly, Utu turned away from the group and slowly walked out of the gathering area.
About two hours of walking and searching later, and Utu would come across this village. It was rather obvious that it was well-guarded--the fifteen-foot border of weapons and the dead made it so. It was quite obvious that this person was willing to use lethal force to get what they wanted. So, why not come at her with an immortal body? A small smirk crossed Utu's lips, and he stepped past the threshold of bodies, into the clear space. "Interesting. Normally, they send armies at me. What's this--a simple man?" Slowly raising his gaze to meet the voice itself, he found himself watching something barrelling at him at a high rate of speed. Only just changing his own path, Viktor managed to barely step around the projectile, watching it collide with the latent weapons and bodies, sending them flying into the sky and landing all around. The man's face twitched slightly, and he chuckled. "I see we've got a bit of fire here. Why don't you come and show me what else you can do?" A longsword flicked down by his side, and he held it up, preparing himself for whatever was to come next. Grinning softly, he felt the next attack come at him from out of nowhere--blasting into his stomach and sending him flying back at fair distance, rolling over the ground. The sword was flung away, and he couldn't help but slowly get up to his feet.
"Tch." Pushing off now, he ran straight for where the attack had come from--and then she appeared. A blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman stood in his vision. The black-haired male sprinted now, rushing her with all of his strength. And as easily as he had been knocked back before, he felt his stomach shift, and his insides twisting and turning with the kick. However, the power of the kick ended up being too much; Utu's body ripping in two and landing on the cold, hard ground. He'd experienced regeneration before, but even he wasn't sure if the souls would be able to...
A minute later, his eyes slowly opened to the confused-looking face of the woman standing over him. "Well, this is annoying." Blinking a couple of times, Utu slowly sat up and groaned quietly. "I don't know how you did it, but you seem to be able to regenerate from most wounds, huh?" Shaking his head slowly, Utu managed to get to his feet and look at the woman with an exasperated expression. "That asshole can keep his money. I have no chance against you. Nor will I let anyone know about you. In all honesty, I just want some money for..." At that, he heard his stomach growling. Yup. "...food." A smirk crossed the lips of the woman. "Well, then. Since you and I both know that you don't stand a chance, do you want a quick meal before you leave?"
Chapter 4: Icy Wastes of Russia - 2000 years ago
Eventually, Utu found himself in Russia. No longer Utu, but Viktor, the man had travelled the world; righting wrongs and attempting to be the best man that he could. By now, he had truly gotten to know every single soul in his body individually; having found that he was to be preserved to the exact second that he had become this way. Understanding this now, Viktor trekked into the deepest parts of Russia, where he found his own body slowly freezing from the inside. It is not known exactly how or why Viktor was able to discover this, but for some reason, he felt a fire burning deep inside the pits of his body, mind and soul. A click of his fingers, and Viktor found flames gushing out and in front of him, warming his body and keeping him going to live...

--HISTORY LOST--
Ziamichi Spirit Name: There are currently 521,287 souls sealed within Viktor's body. Each of them have their own name, so it would be impossible to list them all. Viktor knows every single one of them by name.
Ziamichi Spirit Appearance: Again, each of these souls have their own faces and appearances--it would be redundant to list them all. If one were to look at Viktor's soul, it would appear to simply be a red mess.
Ziamichi Personality: There is no real general personality of this mass. Each spirit has their own personality and can speak with Viktor individually.
Unique Traits:
Immortality: This is the first and foremost trait that Viktor has gained from his Ziamichi. Completely sustained by the souls that stream through his body, he is capable of far surpassing the life expectancy of all other humans. As well as this, he has the ability to completely restore his body from any and all injuries, at the cost of a small portion of his soul energies.
Drawbacks: These souls are not an infinite source of energy. They will eventually run out--though this is not going to be any time soon. Give or take another 5000 years.
Control: X - This is a special case Ziamichi
As a human, Viktor only has a singular, major power at his personal disposal. Known in his native language as Адский огонь, после линию в мире до конца все это, this name itself roughly translates to 'The fires of Hell, following the world's line to the end of it all.' There are two possible ways to explain the ability itself--the first will be for those who do not feel like reading a long and technical explanation, while the second will be for those who wish to remain longer and truly understand what this power does, and why it acts as such. For shortening purposes, it shall be known as Hellfire.
Simple Explanation: To put it as simply as possible, the Hellfire is a combust-on-contact ability. If something is within Viktor's line of sight, he can set it alight by simply clicking his fingers. While in humid areas, under moderate to heavy and greater rainfall or against enemies that are of the water element, Viktor's attacks are useless and will not even start. In fact, he is at his weakest while it is raining, and his strongest while the air is dry.
Long-Winded Explanation:
As with everything, one must begin their dissection with the basis of such an ability.
- Origin: Fire
- Known Range: Within the sights of Viktor
- Targets: 1~100
Once one person is able to realize these three bases, they can continue to understand. The concept of this ability itself is known as "Fire", a seemingly simple concept. However, that is not everything that can be known about the Hellfire itself.
This 'combustion' is just one of a multitude of possible effects that the attack may have on a certain target. Combustion, as a general rule, is typically what occurs when one attempts to use a fire-based attack on a target. By taking these possible effects, Viktor has created an ability that does not typically set targets on fire. Instead, by designating a target, an area and a point of contact, Viktor is able to simulate the effects of a high-capacity, heat-based attack on that area. Whether it is a simple, surgical strike on a singular point, or a large, area-of-effect explosion, what Viktor does is not essentially hitting someone with a fireball, or alighting their flesh. In fact, this is what gives the Hellfire an advantage over most fire-based attacks and fire-wielding warriors.
Normally, when someone uses a fire-based powerset, they become invulnerable to fire itself. While Viktor himself does not have this defense against fire-based opponents, he is able to get around these sorts of defenses. As Viktor does not use fire, but fire's effects, he is able to bypass the fire-based defenses of those who wield flames and go straight for their bodies. Even if the combustion were to strengthen their flames, he would still be able to cause a lesser amount of damage to them within, possibly making the fight easier on himself in the long run.
As with everything, there are a few weaknesses involved with the Hellfire. The first and most obvious weakness is the fact that Viktor is utterly useless under the influence of a lot of moisture in the air. This can be from, for example, rain, fog, mist, cloud, or anything of the kind. This is because the moisture rends Viktor's gloves useless. If the circle on the gloves were to be broken, then Viktor would have difficulty in battle. He can only materialize two pairs during a single thread; however there does lie another exception to this. If he is able to carve the circle itself onto the back of his hand, he can continue to create his fire unabated, as long as he has a way of creating a spark. It is just rather frustrating to do so.

Alright, the ONE and ONLY thing that needs adjustment...
Upon each of Viktor's hands can materialize a pair of gloves, specifically designed to cause a spark. Upon each of these gloves is the circle, made to evoke specifically the power of Fire that Viktor has at his disposal. As long as he can visibly see a target, it is possible for him to first designate them, and then set them alight. The target will realize that they have been designated if they can sense the difference in oxygen density in the air--otherwise there is no noticeable difference. This increase in oxygen density causes the air to become extremely flammable and susceptible to burning. Now, at this point it can go either way. If Viktor so chooses, he can simply leave it here--with this, he could find himself the bane of most fire-using opponents. Because of the increased flammability of the air, a fire-user would most likely find themselves engulfing themselves with their own power instead. This could also work to his advantage in a sword-fight between two parties he is against, by allowing their swords to spark and set the air alight. Otherwising this, he has his own way of working through. Once he has designated a target, Viktor is able to create sparks in the air nearest to the targeted area, igniting the flammable substance and setting almost everything in the range on fire. The flames last for a very short amount of time before dispersing.
Erm... How wide of an area at once can he infuse with this flammability?

Well, there's not so much an 'area', as a 'strength'. So he can create a fire-y explosion ranging from a small pop to a good amount of C4.
