Is this air I'm breathing? (Mamara vs Andrew, All star challenge)
Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:07 am
"You know Tetsu, even to this day this world never ceases to amaze me."
Andrew looked around at the buildings and touched the wall almost in a curious fashion. He had almost expected the building to flicker like it was on a television screen before vanishing completely. The whole area for him felt like a movie he had seen called The Matrix. As he examined the abandoned building, he at the very least felt a sense of relief that the area was stable. But none the less the vizard was curious about what this place was about. He had heard how this place could be used for training, but he had wondered what kinds of training could be done here. He still kept up with his Kidō so he had been thinking about practicing with it. He found a rock on the ground and picked it up casually. Since no one was around, what better place to do some target practice? He tossed the rock in the air, smiling as he unsheathed his zanpaktou. with a quick swipe the vizard sliced the rock in half and before they fell on the ground he picked up both halves and studied them. Andrew noticed that the cut was getting smoother. "Good, I wonder what else there is to do in this place?"

- A scream.
Marama flinched from what she was doing. The earth screamed. Something had cut the rock she had carefully placed : a rock that just wanted to be part of a building. Whoever had slashed that rock.. would feel wrath, as Marama appeared from an alcove. Her long green hair was striking against the dead gray : and those fierce green eyes, as she stared down. ''Who are you and what are you doing here.'' she said. Her voice was dangerous, almost black in tone, but there was a feeling of life all the same. It was just a guarded voice, as the woman was ready to strike should the man prove offensive : there was no hesitation, as the screaming rock dissolved to sobs. Only she could hear them.
Because she was bound to nature itself.

Man what's with her hair?
It could be natural Andrew, and why are you so fixated on her hair?
What? I never met a green haired girl before...
Andrew's dark brown eyes locked onto the green haired girl's eyes as she spoke. As she asked the question in an aggressive tone, his mind still remained on her hair. It was almost as if he had been trying to see if he could find some kind of roots with her hairstyle and determine if it were a simple dye job. But as he kept up his curious nature, he kept a calm expression on her face. He twirled the blade in his right hand as he spoke. "I was simply exploring here ma'am. Out of curiosity if you don't mind me asking, but what are you exactly? You definitely don't look like an arrancar and you certainly are not a quincy considering that you would have pulled a bow on me the second you saw me." At this time if Tetsu had hands, then it would have given a face palm from what Andrew had asked. Though he had been prepared for combat, he still was as curious as he was when they met in the academy. Even as the quiet before the storm of the battlefield is about to occur and the gears in his head began to turn to try and figure out the best way to keep from not only dying but preventing her from causing him great bodily harm; he still wanted to know what exactly she was. Something told him that this one was beyond his own experiences as even a shinigami so if he was going to go into a fight he needed to know what he was dealing with.

- Marama just stared at him briefly, as she easily hopped down from the railing, that was at least two, three stories high. She landed and simply began to walk towards the male, her fingers extending. ''I will only tell you if you can stand against me.'' she said, her voice cold. She wasn't going to stand by, as she felt on edge. Something bothered her : something unnaturally violent was in the air, but her fingers moved, as she let out a breath. She was going to fight : and she would let him make the first move, as she raised her hands, and motioned him to come over. There was no way that she would aim for the first strike : her style was primarily defensive in nature. But still, something dug at her : why would the male commit such a careless act and then ask for information? Was he unaware of the voices of nature? Did such beings exist : devoid of even a primal connection to the world around them? The woman had no idea, as her green hair stirred in the light wind, her body relaxed as if she was just strolling. But from her rolled an aura of danger : a dangerous aura that was not friendly, but more so of extremely hostile.
And thus, she knew they would clash.. and waited for the moment.

Andrew you have to be careful, you don't know what kind of power she wields.
Which is exactly why we need to go at this scientifically.
Andrew gripped his zanpaktou tightly in his hand as he looked at the green haired girl. If there was one thing that he wasn't going to do, he wasn't going to back down. Looking down at his weapon, he then whispered softly,"Cook, Tetsu Itamae." Steam shot from his zanpaktou, transforming the blade to have a scalloped edge to it as he looked into her eyes. As he looked at her and then felt her aura. But even as he felt the anger from her aura, he didn't turn away from it. To him she was no different any of the other opponents he faced. The fingers on his left hand began to slowly move, looking deep in her eyes as his own reiatsu had been coming off. It seemed dull at first, but deep down there was something full of life inside of that aura. The sun reflected from his glasses as he immediately pointed his finger at her. "Hadō number four, byakurai!" A bolt of lightning shot fast out of his index finger and aimed it squarely at the green haired girl. He wasn't sure if it was going to do any damage to her, but he needed to see what he was going to be dealing with.

- Really?
Really?
Marama didn't need to hesitate : her body twisted backwards, falling back as she formed a limbo like stance, the shot passing above her, as her hands supported her weight, her legs lifting into the air, as she landed again on her feet, having done a sort of slow cartwheel to pass the Kidō. The girl's eyes were green, and flashed, as she just crouched, her gaze staring at him. Without warning, she was moving again, small knives flying out in a flurry from her fingers and coat. It was surprising, but they aimed for vital organs : and her aim was accurate, almost deadly, as she shot them one after another, knowing that it was just a first step. As she kept moving, the angle kept changing : but the shots were the same, as she stopped after a full circle, waiting to see the results of her throwing those knives.
She could understand the need to fight, but he had awakened what Marama had read to be his Shikai. This meant that it might get interesting : since she had no idea of his abilities, she should play it safe for now, and keep to non-powers, for as long as possible. Because once she understood his ability, then she could use her own to counter and weaken in his areas of weak combat. That's why the nymph like girl was yet serious, but comprehensive.. after all, this was just a start.

Take a deep breath, relax, and keep your eyes on the knives.
It was apparent that unlike Mamara, Andrew didn't seem to have the speed that she had. As moved quite strangely to avoid the knives coming at rapid succession. He had been using his own zanpaktou to deflect as many of the knives as he could, but even then the blades began to not only cut his clothing, but knick his skin. He could feel a slight burning from the knives but then he began to come to a random realization: the knives were plain. Granted they were still lethal, but it looked like her knives were not imbued with special properties. Looking at the blades again, he continued to deflect he waited for a gap in the knives to hold his hand out again. "Hadō number one, sho!" Instead of pushing Marmara, he used the Kidō to stop the remaining knives from raining down around him. Spinning to look at Mamara again, the edge of his blade seemed to be sprinkling something on the ground. The rust colored spice had been accumulating into the grooves of his blade. He grabbed a handful of the spice from one of the grooves before approaching her again. However, instead of a quick strike with his blade, he swung his zanpaktou and made the remaining amount of spice explode out of his blade into a rust colored cloud. Under the disguise of the cloud though he packed in the spice from his hand between his cheek and gum. He wasn't sure when he was going to need it, but it was better to have it and not need it instead of needing it and have it ready.

- Marama saw him slowly deal with the blades, and noticed something inside of his own. From the tip of his, something was dripping : a powder. A quick scent of the air told her it was a spice : and Marama would know how spices smelt, having dealt with plants all her life. He had done well to deal with the blades, but had missed the silver lining : they were regular knives, and yet not. They had this sense of power behind them, as Marama was content. With a quick jerk of her fingers, she smiled. It was well set, and all she needed was for - ah there, he began to move forward. What a fool, not checking the environment. But he swung his blade : luckily, her plan hadn't been stirred, yet, since it was after the swing that she moved them higher. She flipped back and away from the cloud, not trusting it : she didn't recognize the scent of the spice, but it was familiar at the same time. The woman didn't need to worry, after all, anything from plants, she would know.
The second he had moved, the male would've noticed a sharp pain : attached to her knives were thin wires, as she moved her hand. This was her sacred : it was her special weapon, and she was not going to be defeated as long as it was along her side. The wires tightened in a trap, speeding towards the male once again. If he didn't get out of it, he would sliced to pieces by her sacred : it was almost funny how easily he had let himself become caught. The nymph also kept herself low to the ground, ready to move at an instant's notice. However, she had a feeling, a really bad one, as her other hand stayed on the ground. Even if it required use of her powers, she had a bad feeling, and thus had a second plan just in case her trap didn't work.

Ow! What the hell hit me?!
For a moment Andrew was confused as he jerked his arm back back to his side before he saw something that he couldn't believe. He squinted hard when he thought he could see something thin. From what he could see, it must have been some kind of wire. As his eyes focused on the thin metal, he already went to work for another plan. His dark brown eyes focused on three points that were around his body as he aimed at the ground. "Bakudou number 37, Tsuriboshi." Ropes of reishi were tethered to various locations to create the net, but Andrew wasn't going to use it for a net. Jumping onto the net, he then aimed his hand to the net. "Hadō number 17, Pulse blast." He created the sphere in his free hand and immediately launched it into the net. Though at first glance it might have seemed strange, but to him the only way to get past the wires was up and since he couldn't outrun it he did the next best thing: slingshot.
He launched himself into the air, positioning his body to keep an eye on her as his reiatsu built up. He rather not use this attack unless he knew that things were okay, but since she showed him that she can hit in a greater area he wondered how much time she needed to call back the wires. The reiatsu began to build up around his head as smoke started to come out of his mouth. The spice he had packed between his cheek and gum sparked and immediately launched a stream of flame at her. He wasn't sure how fast she moved, and didn't even know how quick her hands were. But one thing was clear: she was ready to tear him apart and he needed to prevent her from using those wires again.
