Personality:
Luffy's two dominant traits are his apparent lack of intelligence and his utter fearlessness. Luffy can easily be amazed by the simplest things, such as hermit crabs, and can be confused by concepts such as that by digging a hole right next to another he may be unintentionally filling the other hole. He likes monsters and will ask weird creatures to join his crew. He also has no knowledge of medicine, when Nami had a high fever he told her to eat cold food and later tried to make Zoro better by pouring sake all over him because Zoro likes sake. When attempting to think up a plan to get off of Amazon Lily, while he managed to make some logical sense of where to look, he is seen to strain himself and notes that he is going to feel sick from too much thinking.

His simple mind actually saved him against Hancock's powers because he mistook it for a 'Slow Slow Beam', used by Foxy, which brought out a fear of being slowed down. Though, later it is shown he is simply immune to her powers, because of his pure heart. If Luffy finds something he doesn't understand, even if someone explained in detail, he calls it a "mystery thing"; like calling dance powder a "mystery powder". A running gag of Luffy's is his slow reaction time, especially to snow and freezing temperatures. The same can't be said when he's on the field of battle, though, and has been known to dodge bullets with ease. It has been stated more than once that Luffy's instinct and behaviour is similar to that of a wild animals, like when he knows who he has to fight before he even gets to the battle. Even how he fights shows this, when he relies on his instincts and countering attacks. This compliments the way he views the world. Luffy seems to be content and acceptant of life. He is most often seen smiling, except for in a fight. Luffy also seems to rarely change personality wise. Because he views the world in a straightforward and simple manner, he occasionally is the only person who can see past events that have taken place and realize the true goal, yet at other times he can fall into the simplest of traps.

He is, however, a genius when it comes to fighting, such as when he figured out how to defeat Crocodile's Devil Fruit power on the verge of death, how to use Soru from sight, developed a number of effective counters to Enels "Mantra" ability and most recently, learning everything Rayleigh had to teach him about Haki in a year and a half. He does have a habit of holding a grudge even in dire situations. However he tries not to hurt civilians and people he likes, even if they intend to do harm to him, prefering to run from them than fight. When drawing him, Oda has said he tries to make Luffy very straightforward about what he wants to be and how he feels, which is why out of all the main characters, he has the least number of thought bubbles, since he acts and says what he wants to do rather than think it.

Luffy also has the tendency to unwittingly poke fun at an opponent's most sensitive trait, like calling Buggy "big nose", Alvida "the fat lady", and Kureha "old hag". In many cases the opponents fail to understand whether Luffy is serious or just playing during fights due to his bizarre actions like drinking too much water in his fight with Crocodile or punching out Arlong's teeth and using it as a weapon to bite him. Luffy, however, has maintained that he is always serious during fights. In most cases once he starts to fight he maintains a serious attitude and is only seen laughing once he defeats the enemy or is certain the enemy will be defeated like in Buggy's case when he laughed before sending Buggy flying in the air. Every time Luffy defeats an anatgonist or an enemy, within one or two chapters, Luffy smiles. Whether it is because something entertaining or comical happened, Luffy always smiles.

Luffy seems to have an unstoppable appetite which is another common "D" trait, as well as a strong belief in dreams. Like other D's so far, he also is a glutton, despite his skinny appearance: he especially loves meat and can eat a fish whole - bones included, and because of this, a running gag is Luffy constantly stealing other peoples' food with his rubber powers, causing them to yell at him and sometimes hit him.

Luffy is renowned for wearing his trademark Straw Hat (from which he gets his nickname "Straw Hat Luffy"/ Mugiwara no Luffy) which was lent to him when he was young by the legendary pirate captain, "Red-Haired Shanks, who in turn received it from Gol D. Roger. His outfit somewhat mimics Shanks' own outfit in that he wears short trousers (although his are much shorter than Shanks') along with sandals and a vest. Luffy also has a scar with 2 stitches underneath his eye and short black hair.

Power Development Stage 1 Appearance:

Power Development Stage 1 Abilities:

Rubber Body:
Luffy has a body made completely out of rubber. He has the capability of extending any part of his body to lengths 700 times their normal size. Added with his strength, he has the capability of using his body to his advantage, making him able to extend his body out, then retract it to increase the speed of his techniques, added with his strength, becomes an incredibly powerful attack. His body can also stretch at any point, meaning if he were to be shot by a gun, he'd be completely fine, as the bullet/s would simply stretch his body back, and then retracted to the point that they'd fly back towards the shooter. His body also maintains the capability of being completely immune to lightning or electricity. Swords or other sharp objects however can still hurt him fairly easily, as rubber isn't hard to cut. Also, because his body can absorb blows, this also means he is completely immune to physical based attacks, such as punches or kicks, even landing on the ground from an extreme fall, however, if there were sharp rocks, this means he will be harmed by them. His abilities do have a drawback, as he cannot go into seawater. Since his powers came from a devil fruit, this makes him have a curse from the ocean, making seawater not only negate his ability to swim, but also makes him utterly powerless and just sink into the water where he would potentionally die.

Conquerors Haki:

Luffy is what's known as, a "Chosen One" Meaning there is something he must fullfill. He gained the ability of Conquerors Haki, meaning when activated, he has the capability of stopping opponents with less will power in their tracks, just by releasing his own will power. In a case of this forum, this would mean anyone 2 tier levels below him would simply stop fighting and cease to attack.

Gear Second:

One of his 2nd stage abilities is that he has the capability of pumping the rubber of his veins. This creates a burn-like effect on his outer appearance making him seem red in colour and steaming. This is due to the amount of blood he is pumping, which is alot. His body can handle it because it is rubber and will simply stretch if it needs to. When this happens, Luffy's life-span becomes slightly shortened, because of the damage it does to his body. Luffy can hold out this ability for a good 8 posts, but afterwards will not be able to use it again, however, will be able to use Gear Third if he needs to. This ability not only doubles his speed, but also doubles his power, making him extremely fast, as well as using that to his advantage of stretching his body, and adding it together to create fearsomely powerful attacks.

Gear Third:
One of his 2nd stage abilities. By biting his thumb lightly, Luffy can create a small hole which he can blow air into. This air stretches out his body, making it appear to be much larger then it was before, however, because his body stretches out due to being rubber, it still maintains normal strength, meaning a larger arm would be that much more powerful. He can only stretch out up to 2 body parts at a time though, and due to the amount of air in his system, this also damages his life span slightly each time he uses it. He can only maintain this ability for 2 posts, and won't be able to use it again for another 6 posts. His body parts have the capability of becoming 500 times as large as they were before, and he can combine this with his rubber powers to create dasterdly powerful attacks. Not only is this hard to dodge, but it's atleast 10 times as powerful as it would normally be. He cannot combine Gear 2nd with this ability, as it would drain him far too fast to do anything.




Background:

Luffy was born in Foosha Village. 6 years after his birth, he met a band of spiritually aware adventurers led by a kind man named Red-Haired Shanks. Luffy befriended the humans and from that moment on, wanted to become an adventurer. Luffy stabbed himself under his left eye just to show that he was tough enough to join Shanks's crew.

During a scene with Shanks and Higuma, a local mountain bandit that insulted Shanks and his crew, Luffy accidentally ate a Devil Fruit known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi and unwittingly turned himself into a rubber man/boy. Initially this situation affected Luffy badly as it meant he could never be able to swim again. This was a great weakness to anyone who would journey the seas. This, however, didn't deter Luffy's dream and Luffy was once again determined to become an adventurer.
Later, Luffy stood up to Higuma on behalf of Shanks. He was easily defeated, however, and got caught up in a hostage situation. His captors were defeated by the Red-Hairs men, but the bandit leader Higuma had fled out to sea with Luffy. While out at sea, Higuma threw Luffy in the ocean, only to be attacked by a sea king moments later while he was laughing at Luffy. Higuma was eaten, but Shanks managed to save Luffy, however the incident cost Shanks his left arm.

P.S.:

Please don't be hating on me for making a character whose from another anime.. I know it may be weird but Luffy is by far my favorite anime character of all time... and his personality is a big inspiration to me. I will rp with him in a bleach universe the same way I would a bleach character.
