THE NPC APPLICATION

I. Basic Information

» Name: Freia
» Alias: "Tsubaki Koezuka"
» Age: N/A

» Gender: Female
» Height: Average
» Weight: Top-heavy

» Association: Klein Schwarzwotan

» Personality Overview: Freia was too much of a person to be contained by death. Her carefree spirit and disregard for her own safety remain at the forefront of who she is. She tirelessly pursues self-perfection even after coming back from the dead. But even beyond that, she is curious about the world's changes in her absence. She watches her master's experiments with disgust and horror, but without exactly understanding why it does. She never questions him except in the way of curiosity. In some ways, he is pursuing the same thing she wants, just externally. Beyond his promise, it is why she follows him. She enjoys testing the other creations he has, seeing exactly what their tolerances are. What seems to be lost is the humanity that made her "special" amongst her peers.

I. Relationships

» Klein Schwarzwotan: Freia's "master," someone she doesn't really respect. But with many of her faculties gone thanks to both her death and resurrection, it's far easier to control her. But she does not see the worst part of what he does. She finds him "attractive, but exceptionally deplorable" and doesn't hide her looks of disgust. Though, he agreed to her one condition; and so long as he doesn't reneg on that, her sword is his.
» Erika Masamune: Her adoptive daughter, who she selfishly left behind. She loved this girl and even took her with her to the Soul King palace to live before she disappeared.
» Fasolt: C'mon, fight me for real already.
» [REDACTED]: The unknown factor; someone whose youth was rife with tragedy and betrayal. Perhaps, someone who shouldn't be.

I. Overview

Freia is the body of Tsubaki Koezuka, reanimated after her untimely and self-inflicted demise. But some may not know who this person was. Some may wonder why this person is so important and why there is camellia garden within the First Division. Tsubaki was a rising star in the Gotei Thirteen. She served dutifully as part of the Thirteenth Division before becoming the Captain of the Fifth Division after Aizen's defeat. The Fifth underwent major reforms under her, eventually merging with the Kidōshū. And when Yamamoto fell in battle, she was picked to become his replacement as Captain-Commander. She held the position for many years before eventually getting sent further upstairs to Zero Division.

And it is around the 2080s that her story ends officially. Tsubaki disappeared from Soul Society. Somehow she had cast the ōken from her body—meaning she was once again mortal. Many thought she had died, but it was not the case. She had merely found the world boring. She had seen the barrier between the two sides of a soul being broken and melded in Sōsuke Aizen and the Hōgyoku. She sought to break that barrier herself—to perfect herself beyond what a normal Shinigami could. She attained greater heights in connection with one's Zanpakutō, and that was her death. The Zanpakutō was, to her, the key, and so she tried something unconventional, immoral, and beyond impossible. Her body could not hold itself together, and so she died beyond even the Rukongai.

Freia awoke from unspeakable experiments without much memory, but a distinct feeling of who she was. She serves as her "master's" sword—cutting any and all that he wishes.

I. Abilities

» Mumei Shigai: (無銘屍骸; Unsigned Corpse) Freia's body is only part of Tsubaki Koezuka; it is not the entire package and, as such, many things are not accessible. Her powers are significantly diminished from when she was alive, but she is far from just a pushover. She is capable of utilizing many of the Shinigami arts at similar levels to the frightening mastery she once held. From being a Senka master to being the most prominent Zangerin user, these are things she has not fully lost.

More than those, however, Freia is still one of the foremost Zanjutsu masters among the history of Shinigami, and her skill with the blade is etched into her bones. This is also evident by part of her old Zanpakutō remaining as part of something she can do thanks to the manner of her death. Freia is capable of transforming any part of her body into a bladed weapon; and as such, she would have no capability of Hakuda and instead treats hand-to-hand as Zanjutsu. She can also pick up objects that are "sword-like" and wield them like a sword—a pool noodle would stiffen and hit with a sharp edge in her hands.

I. Intent

There are three main intents behind this NPC. There are loose ends in this character's old story that need to be wrapped up, and making an application for this character just to do that is silly because she would tilt the balance too strongly by existing in her former, full incarnation. That leads to her needing to either disappear or be dealt with—she herself was a loose lore end that needs to be cut off. Finally, she is meant to keep Klein alive for as long as needed, but overall, she is meant to die in the end. One day, she will get the rest she deserves. She's meant to provide narrative beats and closure for those that knew her back in the day (namely Erika, who she once saw as a daughter) as well as to be a mountain that people who wish to one day defeat her master have to "kleimb" if you will.
