Ah, that did make sense, the amount of stress everyone had been under recently was quite high. So Shura simply nodded to her statement, mostly believing it since there was no reason not too truthfully speaking. Though the question she seemingly blurted out rather abruptly did cause her eyebrow to raise in confusion, what a... strange thing to ask all of a sudden.
"My... Relationship? With Koga?" She repeated back, almost as if wanting to ensure she understood the question itself. Though after a few moments of thinking she'd respond in earnest "Truth be told it's mostly business as of late, though we've known each for a great deal of time. As I said before, we were both in the Eleventh and he made a hell of a training partner. However after the divisions were restructured we went our separate ways and it wasn't until the invasion that we met up again in battle against an Arrancarr, can't really say it's much more than that though."
In truth she'd never seen Koga as anything other than a good training partner, they'd both always had combat as their first and most important thought, though given their divisions before it made sense that way. "Why do you ask?"

Hana felt a wave of relief wash over her, the tension easing from her shoulders as Shura’s answer settled her worries. But when Shura asked why, a soft pink blush crept across Hana’s cheeks. She wasn’t quite ready to admit to even a hint of jealousy, so instead, she simply shook her head, offering a shy smile.
“I was merely curious…” Hana said, tilting her head slightly. There was something more that caught her curiosity. “What would you be training?”

Truth be told Shura almost believed her for a moment... almost. But it was that pink blush that appeared that made her skepticism continue, though harping on it likely wouldn't do her any good so the assumption would have to remain just that and she gave a slight shrug back when she responded.
To her next question though she also shrugged "A little bit of everything to be honest, but the majority of the focus will be on getting them ready for the next attack whenever it comes, so the end goal is to ensure we all have our Bankai's in fighting shape for whatever comes next. Mine still has room for growth, and both Koga and Ranma show a lot of promise for their own Bankai's as well especially Ranma. His Shikai alone is formidable, so I can only anticipate what his Bankai might be."

Hana’s demeanor shifted, her eyes widening. She tensed and brought her hands up to her chest, closing them together tightly, almost as if in prayer. Taking a breath, she dropped her hands down, though she kept them clasped.
"They are not going to return," Hana said, though her tone was more hopeful than factual. "If that is all you are training for, then it may be a waste of time. You should train to go after them because they will not be coming back to the Soul Society. At least, that is what I believe will be more successful."

Tch... Go after them... "I do a lot of reckless and idiotic things, but one thing I'm not is suicidal. Even if we get significantly stronger, even surviving against Ichigo is a feat in and of itself. This is also, of course, disregarding the fact they're likely situated within Hueco Mundo. Getting into that place alone isn't easy, and not being ambushed by every single hollow in existence isn't something one can just do there especially not when your Reiatsu is as high as Koga or Mine."
It was the entire reason she hadn't immediately charged Ichigo, that Reiatsu wasn't one that was easily mistaken. "You're also the second person to tell me they won't come back, yet we have no proof of that. Even if they don't, did you forget about Africa? Even if we assume they just waste away within Hueco Mundo for the rest of eternity there're always bigger, scarier threats that emerge no matter what. Getting stronger to chase them down is a suicide mission, and one I ain't willin' to take part in and there ain't a lot of Shinigami I'd willingly allow go on such a thing either, Koga being at the top of that list."
She waved her hand in front of her for a moment before she spoke again "Our training isn't just for others; it's the Eleventh’s way to push our limits. To be honest, I want to bring back the Eleventh Division. I’m no big shot, with unlimited resources, unlike Byakuya and the privileged few. But I’m done taking orders from those who make reckless calls—letting a convicted criminal lead our Fourth Division, or Yuuto Hisakawa fight some nobody instead of taking down Ichigo. Too many Shinigami assume things will be fine, but we were blindsided, lost so many, and now the whole structure’s fallen apart. As I told Tento: this isn’t a winnable war. Without drastic action, Soul Society is headed for collapse."

As Shura talked on, Hana stood silently, fiddling with her fingers until they grabbed at the sides of her uniform out of anxiety. Hana had only gotten a brief look at some of the reports that came in about how the big battles went. She was getting better with her reikaku, but she still wasn’t skilled enough to identify any of those reiatsu beyond being terrifyingly large. And Ichigo Kurosaki was a name she heard in the past, but last time she did hear of him, he was an ally, wasn’t he? It had been so long… She clearly had things to look up on.
However, something about Shura's speech rubbed Hana the wrong way toward the end, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "Fighting a 'nobody'?" Hana questioned, clear disgust in her tone. "If your approval of the battles that occurred is based off whether or not you know the name of the Arrancar someone fought, you should be ashamed of yourself. In moments like that, you have no idea what judgement calls you would make. It is quite possible that on his way to confronting Ichigo, he ran into the Arrancar he fought. If it held him and Lord Kuchiki back, then it was not some run of the mill Arrancar that could be ignored. I may have never met the man myself, but a friend of mine speaks quite highly of him as a kind and gentle person, so cease your judgement."
This was a simple case of 'taking a walk in someone's shoes.' Neither Hana or Shura were strong enough to walk the same street at those Arrancar. Shura's focus on her training and calling it a suicide mission was proof of that, so to judge someone as powerful as Yuuto Hisakawa was just... offensive!

"Whatever the Arrancarr wishes to call itself is entirely irrelevant, they are naught but cretins in need of purification." She said bluntly and a little dismissively "I mean no offense by this; however words such as those are naught but excuses in times of war and excuses like that get people killed. But trust me when I say I do not question whether he is a kind and gentle person. I also do not blame him solely, Even Kanae Nagoshi failed to make any effort to head in Ichigo's direction, and instead had decided to head towards Hakuyou Shiba."
Shura had no love for this woman, and now? Now she had no care to hold back what she thought of her "My own former criminal Captain was the only Reiatsu signature near Hakuyou Shiba upon his death, and it was only their Reiatsu's clashing in that vicinity. I have every reason to believe she was the one who killed him. I do not care to be a Shinigami, I was forced into this position by my Father who wanted nothing more than to rid himself of me, I care for strength and strength alone that is the reason I was placed within the Eleventh upon graduation from the Shin'o Academy. That being said..."
This time she waved dismissively of the sentiment "Yuuto is unmatched in speed, I would dare say even Ichigo himself could not outspeed him, so to think that a mere Arrancarr who paled in comparison to Ichigo could 'hold him up' is a fools notion. I don't know the extent of his speed, yet I have fought against Yuuto before and gotten a good sense for it, if he had wanted too there would've been nobody that could stop him." She gave a soft sigh and shook her head "We all make mistakes, Yuuto's mistake was in not going for Ichigo. Kanae's mistake was not going for Ichigo. My mistake was not training hard enough after being nearly killed by Metatron in Africa, Koga's mistake was not getting Bankai by now, Murasaki's mistake was thinking her peaceful shitshow of a dream could ever be possible in a world where our reason for existence is to wage war on Hollows. If the Arrancarr tried to bar his way, he should've let Byakuya stand his ground and continued on. I know of Byakuya's capabilities, though not their full extent. His Bankai is known for having the ultimate defense and the ultimate offense, he single handedly stood against Ichigo when the Ryoka invaded to save Rukia, and he let nothing and no one stand in his way of achieving that goal. If you think a mere Arrancarr of all things would kill him, you haven't been around long enough to understand."
She gave a moments pause to both let those words simmer and see if Hana would respond, it wasn't that she meant to disrespect Yuuto... It was simply a fact that he had failed to confront Ichigo.

“You are very correct… We do all make mistakes…” Hana said, her gaze pointed downward as she recalled the mistakes she made. One of them would likely haunt her for the rest of her life. Sighing, Hana reached out and put a hand on Shura’s shoulder. With a soft smile, she tried to show small kindness.
“Please, do not be so hard on yourself,” Hana said sincerely and then removed her hand. “At least, that is what I keep hearing. There is only one thing we can do now, and that is move… forward…” Hana’s voice trailed off. The words felt so hypocritical, especially with her current goals. "And do not be so hard on everyone else. None of us lost on purpose. We will do better next time."
Even if she came off sincere, Hana wasn't believing her own words. Her goal to kill Akira had not wavered, and she said all this to help Shura, at least hopefully.

She didn't recoil or try to pull away at Hana's touch, being disrespectful wasn't something she was trying to do right now... but, 'Don't be so hard on yourself'... As if that could happen. Her flawless streak of wins hadn't just been ruined, it'd been decimated twice in a row. How was she supposed to not be? "It doesn't matter if we did or didn't lose on purpose, the fact remains." Not to be dismissive, but... the truth was simply the truth. "Look I won't pretend to be someone who cares about the balance of the worlds, or the soul cycle, or any of that crap they try to teach at the academy. Things such as that are meaningless to me."
"I live by Zaraki's teachings, specifically what he said about accepting defeat or more aptly, not accepting it. Defeat is something you only have if you're dead, that we survived means we had luck on our side. He said if it happens that you survive, then your focus should be on surviving.... Surviving and killing the thing that failed to kill you. So you see, as I said before I don't care about the balance or the cycle or any of that, what I care about is killing the three that failed to kill me."

Hana blinked, taken aback by the code Shura professed to live by. It was stark, raw, and in some ways, unnervingly resonant. Hana had wrestled with her own struggles, though she couldn’t fathom adopting a philosophy inspired by Kenpachi Zaraki’s brutal standards. Yet, something about Shura’s conviction stirred a faint curiosity in her mind, a faint whisper of understanding she hadn’t expected. For all its harshness, the simplicity of it had a strange allure.
After a moment of reflection, Hana gave Shura a small, respectful nod. “I understand,” she said softly, as she withdrew her hand from Shura’s shoulder. Her eyes held a drop of resolve as she continued, “Then kill them.”
