MACHIHARA MOE | The Bubblegum Oni
Moe was far from the most astute member of the division, so it was a surprise to be sure when Kanae revealed the actions of the other Captains. To fight and lose was one thing, but to turn traitor or not even fight at all was another matter entirely. It sickened her to think that she wore the same colours as them, those that had stained their uniforms with the blood of their comrades by their betrayal, so her fists clenched into tiny balls of rage.
She thought to join in on the cheer, her brow furrowing at the thought that there might be more traitors in their midst but held back her frustration for now. If there was one person she trusted as much as her Captain, it was her Vice-Captain, and Rio had been given the opportunity to ratify what Kanae had said. There was little love lost between the pair, Moe understood that much, so if they agreed on the matter then there was little else that need be said.
If not, then it seemed there was another traitor amongst them after all.

What an absolute fucking joke.
None of this surprised Shura—not one bit. She hadn’t tracked every fight individually, but she could feel where the strongest spiritual pressures were… and weren’t. Kanae’s words only confirmed her suspicions: about Yuuto, herself, and the so-called ‘Captain Commander’ who claimed this Gotei United was superior to the original Gotei 13. That notion made Shura scoff.
While some of what Kanae said resonated, it didn’t matter. Even if parts were false, Rio corroborating them didn’t change a thing. As the others cheered, Shura cast her gaze downward, spitting on the ground.
She began a slow clap, each slap of her hands ringing louder. "Finally. Final-fucking-ly," she muttered, raising her head to meet Kanae's eyes. "You’re reminding me of Kenpachi Zaraki. And let me be the first to say: Rio confirming it doesn’t matter. What I noticed during the fighting is all that matters to me. Ichigo Kurosaki showed up, and the one who confronted him first was a Captain of Eld, not one of these new ones."
She paused, letting her words sink in before continuing. "Yuuto—being one of the strongest Shinigami in Soul Society— should’ve been the one standing against him yet not only did he fail to do so, he chose to fight, and lose against, another lesser threat even using his Bankai."
Her eyes scanned the gathered Shinigami. "The majority of this division served under Kenpachi Zaraki, yet those of this newer generation seemed to have forgotten his legacy, forgotten why his division was the greatest that ever existed. Kenpachi Zaraki commanded respect from everyone—humans, hollows, and other Shinigami alike! That's because everyone knew of his capabilities and the capabilities of his Division. Let me be clear, I do not question your orders, or why you've given them. I only wonder if we'll get to see whatever it was that you did in Africa against Asher."

Rio Shihoin | Shihoin Aegis
Rio remained relatively silent. Or perhaps it would be more appropriate to say she was rendered speechless before she even uttered a single word. Rio expected several things from Kanae's speech. Admonishment regarding the Gotei's collective failure, disappointment regarding their division, or even a game plan moving forward.... any of those sounded like reasonable expectations, right? Well...
A rebellion on the scale of what Kanae presented shattered those expectations in the blink of an eye. What was she playing at here? Was she purposely aiming to drive all of them to their death? Even worse, as she continued to read the atmosphere of the room, she could tell that her words were earning purchase-- a fact made all the more evident when her golden eyes swept through the raucous group of seated officers. Indeed, no one in particular was questioning her authority on the matter right now.
There were some she certainly held in high esteem here. Beyond the idea that this division was an ideal fit for her combat prowess and technique, there were some whose progress she took pride in during her time in this division. Which made their current approval all the more disheartening. Even so, Rio remained visibly unfazed. Showing any form of emotion here would be foolish. Revealing her hand was not ideal.
"Silence, Third-Seat Kurata. Did you listen to anything she said just now? There is nothing wrong with speaking your mind, but we are not discussing anything regarding past battles, are we? Does Zaraki Kenpachi stand before us today? No. At any rate..."
Maintaining that expression of neutrality, the first person she chose to address was Shura. Regardless of where she stood, the woman made ensuring her safety a difficult venture now, effectively taking her fate out of her own hands. There was nothing wrong in holding one's Captain accountable, but to address her so brusquely? Well, it gave even the Shihoin pause.
Rio knew where her position lay, but for the sake of maintaining "loyalty" in the combat division's public eye, she solemnly nodded her head to confirm Kanae's words. Now the expression no longer felt neutral. It felt like something closer to someone whose face genuinely lit up in response to their leader's words. This was the woman who defended her, after all, no?
"Captain Nagoshi speaks the truth. There isn't a hint of falsity in her words. She even defended my name in that meeting despite my defeat in battle. As she said, an argument occurred in the meeting that descended into bickering over petty pride and one's capability, and indeed, several humans are destined to die soon with Acting Commander Erika's decision. As someone who proudly fought under the Fourth's banner, I see the merit in her words. After all, our duty is, and always should be, protecting the Soul Society. On that note, I agree with my Captain. The question is, do you?"
Did she believe a single word that exited her lips? Of course not. On several accounts, this was a fundamental lie. There was no intention whatsoever to engage in this madness moving forward. There was merit in playing the role of a would-be believer right now, though. Furthermore, she wished to see who would agree here. As Acting Captain of the Sixth, that was the hand she chose to play here. Of course, she was wholly prepared in the scenario that things went south. It was simply one hand to play of many.

Re: Duty and Dishonor [4th Division Meeting Thread]

Leona listened to the news that the Fourth Division's captain had to tell everyone and she listened carefully with her mouth firmly shut. One reason for her silence was the pain that started to pulse through her left arm; the limb felt like the captain or another seated member had used it as a Hakuda punching bag during a particularly vigorous training session. She had gained that injury during her defense of the Fourth Division headquarters... when the invasion had started she had answered the call and hurried out of the barracks to do battle with the invaders but could not get too far past the HQ grounds due to Hollows being everywhere in the surrounding area. She stayed and fought them alongside others who ended up in her predicament, but unlike some of her colleagues the worst injury she came away with was a battered left arm.
Leona had committed the classic mistake of getting tunnel vision when fighting a particularly tough Hollow that just refused to die no matter how many time she slashed it with Reppūmaru. Another one had charged in from her left and slammed into her, sending her flying a meter off to the side. She landed on the ground but recovered quickly enough to use Shikai and dispatch the two Hollows. After taking that injury Leona had to use her right arm to do anything, but her left arm was not broken and she had survived when so many others had not, so she was thankful for her good fortune.
Another good reason for keeping quiet was because what the captain had to say was quite important. Among those revelations was that for whatever reason two Captains from other divisions had chosen to become traitors... one was still at large but the other had their descent into treason cut short by the captain herself. Another revelation was that other captains had failed to carry out the responsibilities of their office. Leona was not sure what to make of that, but she suspected that she was far from alone in that regard.
Next the violet-haired captain of the Fourth Division asserted that while others had failed to properly do their jobs or had chosen to hole up in a meeting room hoping to talk the problem out of existence the Fourth Division had taken on the immense burden of defending everyone and everything. That assertion resonated with Leona, who felt her shame over not getting to where the main action was begin to fade when she thought about it. The majority of Shinigami casualties she had seen that day had seemed to come from the Fourth, after all.
Leona heard the claim that the captains who had chosen to debate had an agenda that was detrimental to both Soul Society and the human world. The blonde did not dare dispute that claim due to the Captain's proximity and her interest in what revelation might come next. Next came the biggest announcement of all: the Fourth Division was going to take drastic and decisive action to right the ship before all was lost.
While a good deal of the Fourth Division's rank and file cheered the plan and one seated member brought up the Eleventh Division's former captain "Kenpachi Zaraki" while another vocally backed the Captain Leona was only half paying attention to the proceedings sparked by the Captain's declaration because she was having an uncommon moment of introspection.
The Captain was right in claiming that something had to be done if everything was to be set right in time. That was something Leona could not dispute, but the blonde did not feel that the type of drastic action that had been proposed was the right way to go about things. Leona valued her membership in the Fourth Division and she really wanted to do her duty as an unseated member because she sincerely believed in the division's goals. She also valued her family, who had given their blessing to her becoming a Shinigami despite their reservations about her choice of division. Leona was not sure if she could turn her Zankaputo against her family if doing so would be in service to the greater good, but she kept a calm face and kept her mouth shut because saying the wrong thing could easily result in her career and her life coming to an abrupt end.

KOIZUMI YUUKI | SECOND WIND, FOURTH DIVISION
Whoever came up with that title needed to succumb to sickness—which was ironic given the 9th seat's own chronic disease. "Death Division" was like something that would be read out of a cheap one-shot manga or something. The situation demanded some restraint though. If this were not the captain and a dangerous one at that, then the quickness to argue things they thought were wrong should just come out. Definitely not what was needed right now though. Self-preservation insisted that arguing specifics was a stupid move. Yuuki wasn't stupid.
As good as it would be to be able to show off, get the last word in, and be correct at the end. Stupid people were unreasonable at the best of times—dangerous at the worst of them. Apparently Yuuki was surrounded by idiots, and a lot of them at that. How annoying—Yuuki hated idiots. Some things should be clarified though for the sake of everyone here as well.
Glossing over the nonsense that was the words to the higher seated officer, the sickly 9th seat continued. "Um so anyway, Captain, I get the whole coup we're running here. Where's our stance on the civilians in the Seireitei? Should we just kill them too if they want to get in the way?"
The androgynous Shinigami did wonder if the question might kill the mood a little bit. The overwhelming majority of the division probably had family in the Seireitei, did they not? Brothers, sisters, parents, spouses, children, what have you. At the same time, did they really want to deal with the Gotei and Central 46? If the captain gave some indication that the powerful souls not connected to the rest of the Gotei United weren't going to involve themselves then the chances of success went up by a noticeable margin. Shishiyuki alone had done a number on the entire division, and that didn't even consider the rest of the Gotei.
One way or another, details of the "plan" as it were had yet to be disclosed. And if she was as stupid as half the things that had been echoed today, then the Death Division was going to be the Dead Division.
WASTE IS A SIN

Tentō Zefā | The Unrefined Paragon
What…in the world was Tento hearing? What was he feeling? What was he seeing!? Ignore the orders from the acting Captain Commander? How could the warriors that he had fought alongside over the years that bled, killed, and died for the 4th division and the Gotei as a whole. How could they be so quick and eager to revolt in a coup?! Where was their honor as Shinigami. Where was the loyalty earned, where was the sense of duty? Was it clouded in the emotions of pride and fear? Was it stroked and guided by the charismatic words of a superior Shinigami with unimaginable power in comparison to the ‘lacking’ leadership in their corners? It made his stomach sink and turn into a twisted note by the growing seconds. A bitter fruit and the betrayer were happily handing it out for the plucking.
Kanae’s words were a heavy truth that broke the faith Tento had in the Gotei even more. It missed things within it though. Love. Honor. It was cold and lifeless as a blade. His loyalty was an unquestionable light for his squad members and the Gotei united. Their Captain Commander was missing in action, information of her disappearance just open air. Where was she when they needed her the most to defend the Soul Society and lead them in this chaotic mess? Where was the discipline, individuality, and goodness he heard time and time again that she worked so hard to establish? How could they break down so easily at her disappearance and point eager blame at each other. How could her spirit have no flicker of an influence still in their division?
So much violence. So much pride. Oh so eager to kill one another. HAHHAHA. That will be such a sight, unfortunately I am stuck in you, boy. I would love to get the chance to eat some souls again.
The knots just kept coming, fanning the growing flame in his chest. Captain Kiskue, a long respected in his aid to defeat Aizen and befriended ‘The Hero’ that saved their world countless times. Even in his exile and unjust treatment by the noble Houses as well as Central 46. But now, now Kisuke and that Hero was the very one threatening the balance. The very ones that laid their hands and did…all of this. The questions of what was real, and how, just kept coming. Why in the world would a Captain attack another, with killing intent using bankai no less in the middle of an invasion. Captain Kanae’s report painted a picture, but it felt uneasy. Unclear, logic or even ‘emotions’ overriding decisions did not fit it for him. He felt their spiritual energies go off while he was fighting that dragon. There were no other energies. No hollows, no Shinigami. And that was quite suspicious to Tento. But now was not the place to voice that…not with people he was growing less and less to trust.
Young master…
As the cheering voices almost made his body jump in sudden reaction. A degree of surprise in truth but even more. Disappointment. Repulsion. Shame, and sadness. ANGER. Nameless bodies went through his head, each one, hundreds from every division that he witnessed lying on the ground at the hands of their invaders. Some of them are known to him. Faces. Voices. Dreams, fears, and aspirations. Gone. They had paid the ultimate cost to their duty. Many of them were their comrades loyal to the Gotei and their division. And here was that very same group of men and women, HIS division, openly talking about betraying that duty and sacrifice just because of pitiful disagreements and in fighting. Because they had decreased faith in themselves and their organization because of this day!? The thought of repeating and increasing that very same loss with a civil war. ...disgusting. If his spiritual energy could boil over and burst in a violent category five hurricane right now it would. But no. It stayed still and calm like a sleeping pond. His face the same stone-cold stoic emptiness that he came in with today at this meeting. The only thing that showed any sign of what was transpiring within him, was his eyes. The windows to his soul held a growing ember as his spirit was stoking.
They had lost. Failed. ALL of them. The Captains may have failed but so did every Vice Captain and seated officer. Every foot solider. It was a war, not a simple battle. Everyone had roles to play. Nagoshi may have looked down at Captain Kuchiki healing the dying and downed, but Tento knew that those saved lives. Soldiers as well as civilians. It prevented the balance of souls to be less of a substantial issue as it was now. It allowed people who were injured to rest and keep fighting. Captains failed to defeat their match ups, but who were they, HIM to complain when they failed to do the same even went charging forward with a numbers advantage? There was no one sided blame. One thing could be undeniable though.
Captain Nagoshi’s face may have been cold as it always was, but it held resolve and an unwavering determination at what she was trying to do. Only a matching one could do anything against her, let alone the whole division with unimaginable willpower as one of their roots. The tall ebony swordsman, of kindness and honed steel of nerves, felt a cold dread settle in that knot. They were going to die. In victory or defeat. The Gotei, his division. Was going to die tomorrow if this went through. They were not going to be standing as they were now, they would be going back to the lawless killers filling the 1st generation of the Gotei. No loyalty. No honor. No duty. No peace. Just. Armageddon.
Another tightness in his chest was let out with a slow smooth breath. His shoulders light at hearing about what the Gotei was planning to do. Erika, acting Captain Commander facing the crisis of leadership, potential collapse between worlds in the upcoming days and weeks if no pre-cautious measures were taken, and military civil discourse to this level… That chilling order to sacrifice human lives was small in comparison. He could hear the logical ends of it in his head.
It will be quick.
Once they are cleansed they won't remember
It is for the greater good of all.
There is no other way.
But there was one. There was always another. Tento’s heart pounded in his chest, heavy with a burden to bear, a choice that would perhaps haunt him for the rest of his days. Some in the squad were vehemently opposed to such a drastic measure. Some could see it as a necessary evil at the failure of their duty. That was not being questioned though, and he found that strange. A high accusation that needed to be verified. But damned if Rio did or not, Tento had made his decision. The only difference from her words was whether his determination or anger increased. He would not stand by and stay silent. What consequence laid at his feet…was more than what could be at his head…
“I. Do. Not”. Tento words, spoken with a force that seemed to shake the very foundations of the earth, echoed through the ranks. The murmuring crowd fell silent, their eyes fixed on the imposing figure of their 5th seat. His voice, a deep baritone that carried a weight of authority, was filled with a mixture of calm and stern determination. His words, spoken with unwavering conviction, pierced the hearts and minds of his listeners, as few as they may be. "Think about what you are saying. What you all are saying as you cheer. We stand at a crossroads," Tento began, his voice rising in intensity. "A crossroads that will determine the fate of the Gotei United, the Soul Society, and perhaps the world itself." His eyes swept across the crowd as his body turned to the side allowing his eyes to pierce at the crowd of unseated officers behind the seated officers. He took in the faces of those who had been so eager to embrace Kane’s reckless plan. He saw the confusion, the fear, and the desperation that had fueled their support. The bloodlust, the anger, the pride. A growing sense of disillusionment, a realization that the path they were on was leading them down a dangerous and destructive path. But he also saw a flicker of doubt, a glimmer of hope that perhaps they were not beyond redemption. "Captain Nagoshi’s coup is a betrayal of everything we stand for as Shinigami of the Gotei", he declared, his voice ringing out with a force that could not be ignored.
"It is a path that leads to destruction, not salvation. It is a path that will tear our organization apart and leave our already disseminated numbers vulnerable to our enemies. The very ones that have betrayed us and left Soul Society in ruins. DO YOU ALL WANT TO LET WHAT REMAINS TURN INTO ASH?! Do you wish to be like THEM, TRAITORS?". The swordsman's words hung heavy in the air, like a storm cloud gathering on the horizon. He spoke with a passion that was both inspiring and terrifying, a passion that was fueled by his unwavering belief in the principles that had guided the Gotei for so long regardless of its version. Tento then turned to face them. His fellow seated officers who were either staying silent or gave an applause to their Captain’s words and Vice Captain’s affirmation. Tento stepped forward, his eyes scanning assembled soldiers with a mixture of determination and disappointment. “Protect soul society….defend humans. Yes. Those are our duties. But do you forget what is supreme? BALANCE. The balance of the worlds must remain or else all the realms will collapse on one another. No one will live. THAT. Is the ultimate failure. If you disagree with killing innocent humans then do something else. Not revolt and cause more souls to be thrown away to speed it up”, Tento swung his left arm to the side, his voice rising in its heaviness as his cadence grew with a slight urgency. His voice was loud, calm, determined.
“Hollows have more souls than a human, we have been hunting them down already. What is the difference of spending this time to get rid of the rest in Soul Society? Or better yet, why not use the vizards in the Gotei to get into Hueco Mundo?! I myself have the power to open a garganta. We can fix the scales of the balance without killing humans, or at least, reduce the sacrifices. There will be people who will take that task, we have Shinigami who do that as their duty already. And who in the 4th will not take the chance to slay a hollow? It does not matter if I am the only one, I will go in there to kill them myself. Captain Nagoshi. Give me permission to do so”.
In truth though, regardless is she gave her approval and resources or not. Tento would go out. That...or he would draw his blade on the last day of his life on this day before all of his 4th division...

Re: Duty and Dishonor [4th Division Meeting Thread]

While his eyes were closed and covered, the lad's vision hid colors and detail. Quinn stood silently, watching the whole room at once with his spirit, still marveling at the strength of some. However, the feeling of power around him reminded Quinn of the monsters that fought throughout Soul Society, and he mentally growled at his useless inaction. There were normal hollows I could have helped with. I could have teamed up against stronger enemies. I could have done anything and it would have been better.
Then, Captain Nagoshi began speaking and Quinn focused on her. The world seemed to vanish and the boy's soul shook with ice at her words. He had learned about the history of the Gotei throughout his classes at the academy. So, he knew of the people the Captain spoke of. All of them amazing and powerful. But, hearing about the traitors filled the youngster will new terror that locked him in place. Alongside that fear returned the self-hatred from not helping during the invasion. At Kanae's words of their duty of protection, Quinn's heart rammed against his ribs, making his breathing shallow and harsh. [i]I need to get stronger. There is no way I will stand by watching again.

You will be mine. I won't be your slave, Ekiga. Until you submit, piss off. Quinn's soul settled as he heard others come forward and confront their division leader. Their Third-Seat immediately ceased his attention with her first word. Then, he gasped as she continued. Given the chaos from the invasion and that he was new, the spirits of other divisions and their leaders were still unknown to him. So, all he felt were incredible powers going up against each other, who was know hadn't mattered at the time. Now, Kenpachi Zaraki was a name he knew and had read a lot about. Knowing that most of Forth had been part of the 11th was one reason why he chose this division. Strength and skill were what Quinn sought. The fierce woman's closing words had Quinn eyeing Captain Nagoshi. As a new member, he kept his troubled thoughts to himself. But everything being said had him grip his Zanpakto's hilt tightly to ground himself.
The next one to take Quinn's focus was Tentō Zefā. As he spoke, the lad's senses shook with the spiritual power in the words. It felt like his entire being was forced to lock in on the 5th Seat. The boy's turbulent feelings calmed down as he firmed his will. As Tendo continued, Quinn's heart slowed and he thought about the man's words. It hurt knowing that to maintain balance, many would probably die. That had Quinn grit his teeth but he nodded at it. Then came Tendo's suggestion at invading and hunting Hollows. This made his eyes snap open under his blindfold and a thrill rushed through Quinn. "I need to go. To help, I'd go to Hell if needed," he whispered to himself. The couple of people around him chuckled at his words but Quinn didn't care.

Tentō Zefā | The Unrefined Paragon
Those violet eyes always had a strange look to them when Tento met that gaze. Beautiful and yet dangerous. Cold with bloodlust and yet, empty. When he heard her speak, Tento moved to meet her eyes. It was to be expected to give his Captain that much respect with her rank, despite the treasonous talk he heard coming from her lips. He kept that gaze, eyeing her as she spoke as if he was trying to see her, the woman beneath her Captain cloak and long history. What was inside of her roots as for once, he felt no contempt or slick strand of rage in her voice. A careful logical string of words came from, but to his ears it felt the same slick twist of a snake twisting before him. Waiting.
But Tento stood tall, his gaze unwavering as he met Kanae's piercing violet eyes. The weight of her words hung heavily in the air, but he refused to be cowed or dismayed. He took a deep breath, his voice steady and resolute as he responded. "Captain Nagoshi… I understand the gravity of our situation and the urgency before us. We have many duties and priorities coming to a pace with the state of the Gotei as of now. But I believe that our strength lies not just in our ability to fight, nor ONE division, but in our ability to uphold the values that define us as Shinigami in ONE Gotei. We are protectors, balance seekers, not executioners or anarchists. The civilians we swore to protect should not become collateral damage in our struggle. Their lives should not be touched unless absolutely necessary. That is why the focus on correcting the balance in a careful attack on hollows, with the hot spot of Hueco Mundo, should be a first consideration".
He paused, allowing his words to sink in before continuing. "Captain, is a civil war really the way you see this? That a blade stained by our brothers and sisters as Shinigami is the way to correct leadership you or others disagree with? No, I do not claim to have all the answers, nor do I believe I can solve every problem alone. But I do believe in the power of unity and the strength of our convictions. We must fight for the Soul Society, yes, but we must also fight to preserve the very essence of what it means to be a Shinigami. A god of death. Do gods of death strike down each other over personal differences and dissatisfactions to the extent of revolt? We have ways to place new Shinigami in leadership roles for a reason. Time, dedication, and opportunities that won't throw us at the feet of our foes".
Tento turned to face back to the assembled Shinigami, his voice rising with determination. "We. We can choose to let fear and desperation drive us to actions that betray our principles, each other, or we can stand together, united in our resolve to protect and uphold the values that make us who we are. I choose the latter." He looked back at Kanae, his eyes filled with a fierce resolve. "I trust in our Division and what it stands for. I trust in our ability to overcome this darkness without losing sight of our humanity. And I trust that, together, we can find a way to save the Soul Society without sacrificing our souls in the process. I am no traitor, I simply am a man wishing to stop self-destruction". The silence that followed was thick with tension, but Tento stood firm, his heart pounding with the weight of his words. He had made his choice, and he would stand by it, no matter the cost.

RIO SHIHOIN
Rio maintained her expression of neutrality throughout the current exchange. Of course, that didn't mean she remained motionless, nor did she stand in place during the battle of words. Each impassioned word that fell from Tento's lips resonated with the point of view she hoped everyone else shared as she marched toward him.
Who else would voice their objections? Or fall in line and obey her orders out of fear? Who genuinely believed what she said? That ultimately remained to be seen, but among the entire division, Tento spoke his mind the loudest, despite the fatal risk that came with earning the ire of his Captain and the division who shared her thoughts. Again, he remained the loudest voice in the room, adamantly adhering to his stance on the Gotei as a whole, visibly proving where his loyalty lies in the grand scheme.
His bravery was admirable, and so, her next plan of action became abundantly clear. Calling out to the division as a whole, she continued to march toward Tento until she stood beside him. Since he was sticking to his guns, it was time to voice her thoughts in this critical moment. Since she wholeheartedly knew what dealing with so-called traitors might imply, she felt it wise to remain beside him at the current junction of this engagement.
"With all due respect, I don't hear the words of a traitor. I hear the words of a man who has, in two instances just now, proven his loyalty by offering a solution that doesn't end in senseless bloodshed, one that ensures more lives aren't being lost in the aftermath of the invasion - one that doesn't inevitably lead his division mates to an early grave. As I said, protecting the Soul Society and maintaining balance across the realms ought to be our topmost priority, and I don't feel like anything he said runs counter to that."
Again, her golden gaze swept across the room as she turned her head toward Kanae, hand resting against the hilt of the blade in her haori. Visible proof of her decision. There was no way she would allow harm to come to this man or those who wished to stand up against her. If anyone wished to join her, now was the time.
"Since I agree with him, I suppose, by that definition, that also makes me a traitor, correct? Make no mistake, as Acting Captain of the Sixth, my duty is to maintain and uphold the law, Kanae. Conflict of the nature you've brought forward would be a wanton breach of that law. It would disturb and upset the barely recovering order of the Soul Society. That is something I cannot abide."
The die had been cast. They would come to blows or this would be resolved peacefully.
