Re: Echoes of Conflict [Igen, Rangiku]

Igen let out a bit of a relieved chuckle as Rangiku capitulated, a soft sigh escaping him as he gave a nod. "Good stuff. Thanks." He chuckled, sighing softly as he took a moment to get a few things from his bag. A few things just in case. He paused and perked up for a moment as she explained that he could do it. Yep. Alright. Yea. So he was well aware that this was clinical. But this was still uh. A lot to not look at. The fact of the matter was that she already had pulled her shuhakusho down, so now, the binding had to move.
Yep. And those ribs were going to be bruised. But he had to make sure it was the right kind of bruise.
"Excellent. This shouldn't hurt at all. So just relax and take a breath." He assured her. And promptly began to remove the bandages steadily. The ribs were pretty evenly spread up the length of her chest. And so a bit had to be exposed. As the wrapping was pulled away, he took a moment to inspect the injury. Aaaaaaand alright. Bruising. He leaned in and inspected the bruising. Looking to the breaks each, and applying a very gentle green glow to ease the stinging as he looked them over.
Good. No green. No discoloration. No grossery. Just some bruising and some real irritated flesh.
"Yyyep. Looks good. Uh, very good. No discoloration. Any itchyness? Unpleasant odor? It looks fine, so we'll go with the normal treatment." He pulled up the vial and offered it to the woman. "But if you notice any changes when you change the bandages, you need to speak up. And remember. No Alcohol, twenty four hours. No work for Eight Hours." He explained, as he put his little kit back together.

Rangiku did patiently wait for the doctor to be done working on her. He turned out to be a good medic, and rangiku felt a bit of pride as she watched him over. She looked at him gently as she saw him trying to avoid looking at her chest. She did feel a little guilty for getting him to do it as he apparently was embarrassed. Rangiku very rarely felt shame or embarrassment, obviously. However she could empathize.
"Cmon igen, you know I'm not shy. You're scared of even getting a little peak?"
She saw he was embarrassed and wanted to get a reaction out of him. Out of all the depressing times she figured they could probably both use some light hearted time. Truthfully a part of her felt it a little strange she found igen to be very charming.
"I got it, I got it. I'll save the drinking til we can one together, Igen."
She spoke truthfully. Well mostly truthfully. She was probably going to be busy until the next time she could drink again. Once she gets back to work, it's probably not going to be the easiest thing in the world to get through.
"Igen, thank you. You've really grown."

Igen was of course well aware o Rangiku's penchant for teasing, however he was so rarely on the receiving end of them these days. And with how tired he was, he blinked a few times and stared for a moment, his face lighting up as he almost choked on his own spit. "L-lieutenant!" He stammered out, thankful that Ko wasn't here. Dear god was he glad.
Still, once she was all patched up and ...ahem, dressed, he stood back up after he finished packing his kit. "Right, works for me. I know things are going to be rough for a bit. Still, I'm glad I was able to help a bit." He noted, only to blink in surprise at her comment. Grown? He knew she didn't mean literally, but even so he ... sortof stared off into space and wondered.
Had he....really grown at all? He'd learned things. He'd gotten....in a very small way. Somewhat stronger. But had he, as a person, grown? He didn't know if he had. "I.... don't know about that." He noted quietly. And for the first time that night, he sounded well and truly exhausted.

"Cmon, igen. Just a little peak? For all the hard work you've been doing for us?"
She continued to push as she truly did just enjoy teasing people. Of course she would stop once he gets thoroughly embarrassed. She was sure that this'll probably wake him up. She laughed melodically as she enjoyed teasing the younger shinigami. He really was cute. Perhaps one day....
"Igen you gotta come see me more often. Can't just have ya around when I'm all banged up."
She spoke as she pulled her uniform back up. Done with the teasing after slowly pulling her shirt back up. Careful to not over do it on her ribs as she did so. Sighing once she got it over her shoulders she laid back slowly trying to relax a bit. She had time she had wait. Mine as well try to use it.

Igen cleared his throat and looked off to the side as Rangiku continued to lay it on thick. Frankly, she had acted a lot like this in the past, and he used to just chuckle and insist that she was being silly. but well. Lady Sawachika had changed things, and for once, he felt anxious being on the receiving end of his Sensei's teasing. But not in a bad way, it certainly woke him up.
"Eheh, right. Well I'll be sure to check in on you more often. Though that won't be hard with you working with First Division" He pointed out, standing back up and then pausing to look over his shoulder as she laid back. He knew she probably was going to be irritated, having to not work at a time like this, but at the very least, he was glad this wasn't ...JUST a medical visit. It was... refreshing. Seeing her again.
"Lieutenant. I don't think I've grown. and I think a lot of things have been trying to tell me that." He noted softly, his mind straying to Ko, and the times they had shown eachother fangs. And he remembered a question that she so often asked him. 'Do you know what it means, to be King?'.
In this moment, without Murasaki around, and seeing the effect on Erika. He felt that in some small way, he understood the answer just a little bit more. "But by the time this is all over. I promise you that I will." He noted, his voice firm with conviction. He offered her a gentle smile, briefly letting his expression ease as he looked to the woman who had helped him so many times in the past. "Thank you." His voice was earnest, and after a moment to finish collecting his things. And unless she stopped him, he'd promptly take his leave.

Rangiku noticed the shift as she gestured for him to come over to her. If he did, she would reach up and put a hand gently on his head. The old teacher from the academy reappearing momentarily. The teasing feeling like a distant past as she tried to reassure him. She knew that it was hard to believe in yourself, and if you see yourself everyday it seems like you're not growing. She gave him a genuine warm smile as she ruffled his hair a bit.
"Igen, trust me. You've grown more than you think. There are set backs, but they're just things you have to work through."
She spoke gently to him as she tried to make sure that he made it through the rest of his shift. She wasn't going to be able to work, but the medic still had his job cut out for him. There were so many injured that it honestly made rangikus stomach flip.
"Even with all of my confidence. There's still things I have to work on. Heineken and I don't see eye to eye all the time. I like to drink a little too much. And so on. You're not alone in thinking like that. However, I want you to believe in yourself for me okay?"
She spoke to him with sincerity and softeners in her voice as she spoke to her old student. Making sure not to move her ribs too much as she was going to hug him but decided against it. She shouldn't re injured herself.

Igen blinked for a moment as he noticed the gentle downward wave she gave him. He paused for only a moment before he made his way over and crouched next to the couch she was laid on. Only to pause and smile a bit as she placed her hand on his head. Ah.. yea he recognized that voice. True, he still felt he had things to work on, but at least for just a few moments, he could take a bit of solace in the woman's words. His eyes closing to a brief shut as he let his body relax for just a moment and those girlish shoulders of his settled from their rigid set. "Yea... I'll try not to forget that." He noted sheepishly.
Right, he'd forgotten himself a bit. Probably wasn't too great to go showing this side to a patient. But at the very least, she had a constructive way to react to it. "Heh, I always believe in myself, but still thank you, Lieutenant." He noted with a bit more warmth in his smile as he stood up and promptly left. A bit more pep in his step as he left the Lieutenant to get her rest. Thankfully he didn't have any more visits for the night, but he felt like he might just get some decent sleep.

She watched igen leave with a warm smile. Leaning back into the bed as she tried to relax fully. She knee that she wasn't going to be able to just sit in bed for an entire day. He said for her not to work, but he never said that she couldn't oversee work that was going on. She would.make sure that she got her rest, but right now was just such a fucked up time. She felt horrible having to lie around.
"Take a break when you can igen. You've earned it."
She spoke gently as her eyelids felt heavy all of the sudden. Perhaps she could get a few hours of sleep before she needed to be at the next place. Damages were serve, and there wasn't alot of time for seated officers especially when there is alot that needs to be done.
