Memories Flickering Upon Turbulent Winds [Kita, Hisana]
Thu Aug 29, 2024 11:45 pm
Kita Lirio
Two little rabbits fled from her, not that it didn't matter; she had plenty more to devour before her. Having come down from her higher state for the moment, she had to be earnest in that she gained some taste for it after devouring one of those fleeing fool's arms, like she had mistakenly come across a food she particularly enjoyed. A happy occasion, truly! The deaths of the ones up high on the ladder, the destruction of their settlements, the sounds of their screams.. She made a serene stroll across the burning streets, collapsing the occasional building.
It was nice to feel atop the world, for once. Even as she witnessed the battles of others at a distance, the scent of death growing ever numerous as the sun sank beneath the earth's maw, she had a strange sensation - she couldn't quite describe it.. Perhaps she could ask Klein after this was over.
Flesh, both charred and raw filled her belly as the brief reprieve allowed for some restoration; her shoulder was already knitted back and in working order, a satisfied sigh as she rolled it once more. Where else could potentially have opponents of challenge, that she could so thoroughly crush?
A particular construct caught her attention... A school? And quite massive at that... Surely someone strong was present to hide away those mewling cubs filled with cowardice they'd call students. She'd move swiftly via Sonido, a grin forming on her bloodied features, the joyful flutter of her heart at the mere idea of ripping and tearing their "savior" right in front of those useless faces filling her with... With..!
Soon, she was at the gate, scimitar held slung over her back.
"Come, now! You have a mere twenty heartbeats before I begin my crusade, terrible oppressors! No longer are we beneath you~!"
Playing the part only came natural to her entertainment, she wished to hear more of those indignant yells of idiocy, they brought her great humor.

Hisana had already cut down several of the invading hollows. While many had focused on the larger threats, she felt a pit in her chest as she realized that she woulnd't be able to get close enough to help in the fight against Kurosaki. No, she had to focus, she couldn't let her own personal feelings cloud her judgement. there were people that needed her. A number of hollows had spawned near the Shino academy. A few monsters that had intended to prey on the young fledgling shinigami. After all, cut off the young ones, and thered be nobody to replaces the ones that died.
Their carcasses had been hacked to pieces and were strewn across the lawn. A sigh escaping her in relief before she turned towards the couple of students that had fought alongside her. "Iko.... Saita. You've done enough out here. Get back inside and help set up the barriers." She instructed firmly, her voice harder than it usually was. The students, despite their usual urge to show off and make nois found themselves shaken and glad to be told to return inside. The hollows had been rough opponents, and they each sported a few bleeding wounds. Nut those talented in healing inside would be able to treat them without issue.
Hosana... in the meantime.
Her attention was also diverted. She'd intentionally shooed them away, she could sense another hostile spiritual energy closing in. Her eyes narrowed slightly and she allowed her spiritual energy to roil beneath her disguise. The shell that kept her hollow reiatsu in check, keeping her from seeming like anything but a normal soul, was still active. For all intents and purposes, in her uniform ? She was just another shinigami. And as Kita belted out her challenge, there was a crackle and a rush of black smoke as Hisana popped into existence infront of them. It wasn't just a high speed motion. There would literally be no travel for the arrancar to witness. Her own inque sonido that involved slipping into the garganta midway through, such a move that it literally seemed as if she were teleporting.
So very suddenly, the sheen of her Scythe woudl be seen glinting right infront of Kita's face, mid-swing as that blade aimed across her forehead.
A reckless attack, after all, she had no idea how strong or durable this arrancar was. Trying to go for such a spot that would usually be the toughest part of an individual, if they were tough enough, she'd simply snag on them, and shed find herself in close range to a potentially dangerous opponent. And as such, when that blade swept in and aimed to slide clean through Kita's skull. It passed through almost completely harmlessly. Gliding through both flesh, bone, and spirit , with only a single thing catching on that edge.
Memory.
How long had it been since she had had an opponent that she did not have to baby? That she could fight in earnest? It was a specific and safe opening move. Aiming to shear exactly forty five seconds from the targets memory. A disorienting attack aimed to accomplish two things: Disorient the target, such that they'd have no idea how they came to be where they were. And also to 'sample' their memories if she could.
Any information that would be useful to the Gotei after this assault would be worth extracting before defeating her opponent. But first, she needed a taste of their memories before she could try extracting anything specific.
All the same, as she slipped clean past the Arrancar, she held her hand out behind her and pointed at the Arrancar at the center of their back. A loud crackle sounding as she fired a massive Bala. Wide, but with low power. Not intended to punch through, but simply to thrust the woman aw2ay from her to slam into a fountain at the campus grounds. A follow up move, just incase.
"If you would be so kind. Please place your weapon on the ground and lower your head. Your cleansing need not be painful or undignified."

"..Time is up!"
A wild smile crossed her face as she'd raise her weapon, ready to blast through the gates with hardly any more hesitation, she could hardly hold herself back - the vivid imagination of slain bodies, tattered flesh, strewn innards..!
... Gates? What was... She was already before the academy? That wasn't right... No, something didn't feel-
The sudden spike of spiritual energy behind her posed hardly enough time for her to reasonably react in her spell of confusion, the bala bursting into her back, throwing her a good distance into that fountain, the freeze of water following the burn. The arrancar, flustered, quickly tore herself from her landing space. Her teeth grit, opponent before her.
"Are you not alongside our forces?! You are an Arrancar, why have you decided to battle..." A quick blink of realization hit her, that confused expression fouling into a cruel grin, "Ohohohhh, I see... The Shinigami have you as a mere pet. How unfortunate, that I must slice your neck to sever your collar!"
Her voice hiked into pure violent joy, as her hushed high speed movement propelled her toward her opponent, her scimitar coming in from below to slash the woman's chest.

They were slow. MUCH slower than she thought.
As she executed that swipe without nary a response, she found herself a bit startled. No... she wasn't weak. She could feel that throughher pesquisa. And she furrowed her brows as the sampling of those recent memories made her tense. She'd already fought someone? She didn't get enough to know who it was. But here she was, with hardly a scratch. Had she already killed some shinigami?
She was brought out from her thoughts by the sudden indignant response from the woman. But there was something else. Something far deeper.
A familiar....taste to the memories. This woman... she wasn't here for no reason. She was here FOR someone. And that meant... she might have important memories.
Her own cold, violet eyes regarded the woman without worry, duress, or seemingly any care at all. The serene stare haphazardly thrown Kita's way was like a mother watching her child throw a tantrum. The Sonido was not bad. A shame that the girl was so incredibly slow. IT was almost painful to watch.
"And since when have hollows ever been more than food or competition to one another?"
As Kita finally arrived in front of her, Hisana made note of the force coursing through the woman. Her motions were stout. Even just a gentle touch, she could see the cracks beginning to slither along the ground from Kita's steps, the sheer brutality of the woman's motions were truly astounding. If this woman weren't so slow. She would be a truly worrying opponent.
Hm. she would need her intact.
hisana's body vanished in a flash of dark smoke, and Kira's body would slam through that darkened air, the familiar taste of a valley of screams would linger in Kita's nostrils as Hisana delivered a kick to the center of the woman's back, slamming her scythe into the ground and using it to vault her body up into the air for a spin kick, sending the woman facefirst into the floor using her own momentum. Walking up to the woman from behind and then SINKING her scythe into the ground next to their head, sliding it a bit to the left from their right side so that the blade would slide in and gleam near the woman's eyes threateningly.
"And who has your collar, hm?"

Oh. Oh, oh...
Ah, she was not faced by meek prey... But another predator. A boil sparked in her chest as those fast movements hit her, slammed her, brought her to the ground in mere moments. This would not be a moment of laughter, but of competition - she realized that so. The gap between her and this expressionless woman was felt as she tasted dirt.
She wished to pin her? She dared to?! When she was nothing more than a leashed plaything?! That is, all of them would be beneath the balancing ones, she'd never find community here. Yet here she was...
"Hah? Collar? I am here of my own volition, my own fulfillment!" A proclamation was made of the situation, a smile creasing her buried face, "I needed not a guiding voice to throw me to conflict; I merely had an opportunity! Now perish, you dog!"
Her body rapidly lit and bristled with sparks, before an explosion would leap off her skin with the intent of blowing the arrancar away from her.

The scythe swept across the woman's eyes as those sparks flew through her body. Another dip, another taste of warm memories, and another sudden jarring shift as Kitai's memory was snipped, back to just after Hisana had delivered that declaration, and just as those sparks roared into a proper flame, the Arrancar vanished into a burst of black smoke, reappearing high up into the air as that explosion burst outward and rocked the courtyard itself. They weren't close enough to anything for anyone to be in danger, but she made a note of the woman's ability. How very destructive.
Alas, Kita would not get any such moment to try and understand her situation. From her perspective, no sooner had Hisana informed her to lay down her arms and surrender, did she find herself in a smoldeing crater, and the Arrancar landing beside her, her scythe held by her side as she spoke up, seemingly in quick succession. "If you would please. Lay down your weapon and lower your head. There's no reason for your death to be painful." She requested calmly, bringing her scythe forth and pointing it towards the woman on the ground, patiently waiting for them to pick themselves up.
She could feel it. Whatever it was that had brought her here. Not something on the woman's mind. But something underneath it. The root of that aggression. She just needed to dig a little more, to get Kita to have those root memories at the surface. Where Hisana could cull them.
"Why are you even here? I'm afraid that I don't quite believe what you've been shouting about this whole time. It's all very...insincere. So....young one." That end to the sentence was heavier, warning laced in that tone.
"Why are you here?"

Her mind burned as her eyes witnessed that blade come upon her head anyway, even as her vision lit up with sparks, the scent of napalm being the final thing that would greet her mind...
...What?
Panic rose in her chest as she jolted to her feet, a swirl of confusing emotions hitting her thoughts and muddying her focus. Where was she? Wasn't she still battling those two rabbits? No, no she was.. Elsewhere? That school she had witnessed? How was she in the grounds? Her head whipped quickly to witness her new opponent, that strange woman who stood before her.
They had to have been in battle, weren't they? Why else would the ground have been cut into by her might, had they been betrayed? Her hand squeezed her own blade tightly, adrenaline rocking her flesh as she readied herself. Was this some form of trick? Was she transported here by a sudden attack? No, focus, this fool had something to say!
"You dare believe I would surrender myself to... Are you a pet of theirs?" Her voice racked with energy as she couldn't help but laugh at the imagination of this woman being so willing to degrade herself for those so called death gods. Though, her smile dropped a little, with what she had to say next. Shouting? Insincerity? Had she been spectating that other battle? Her presence was new to her, though, that couldn't have been the case...
"I am here to tear your pathetic world asunder, your damned oppressors!" Her smile returned, her playing was ripped to the surface. Fun, fun, she merely wished for the thrill of it all...
Settle down.. And attack.
Her blade pointed toward the Arrancar, a growing cackle hitting her as she would slice her arm open, blood pooling toward that growing light at the tip of her sword, "Perish to my Gran Rey Cero, pet!"

That bravado was faltering. As she imagined that it would. Her eyes narrowing slightly as she watched the woman closely. They seemed to be adjusting. Well wasn't she a smart one? No, not smart. Her instincts were sharp. She was feeling the situation out. But alas, not well enough as it were. "I'm no more a pet than you are." She stated simply. The girl had mentioned the thing twice now. not that she'd remember the first time, but she decided to pull at that thread as she closed her eyes and gently brought her hand up to her face. A soft sigh escaping her as she allowed those memories and reiryoku to flow up her frame and collect at her palm as she looked at Kita out of the corner of her eye.
Watching closely. She wasn't thinking hard enough. Not about what she wanted to yet. But thats fine. She just needed a little push. And so as Kita's spiritual pressure spiked, she knew that something was about to happen. She pressed that mask to her features and energy coiled around her in a hot bloom. And as Kita raised her arm, slashing along her wrist, she'd find herself staring at a familiar hand pointed right back at her. A sqirl of black and purple energy twisting into the center of her palm to match her own Cero. Only the one before her was a mere normal cero. But the force behind it clearly rivaled her own.
"Look who'se talking."
Their ceros blared out, slamming into eachother as the energy twisted and burst. A brilliant vertical pillar of energy tearing up the courtyard and almost sending the both of them flying as those ceros cancelled one another out, leaving a hellscape of flames in its wake.
And through the smoke, a scythe blade would streak out, ripping outward from the dark smoke to hook Kita's throat, as once again, her memories were severed from her for the past fifteen seconds. ONce again, throwing her into an unfamiliar scene.
But this time, the one standing over her.
Was her.
Eyes stared down at Kita as her own voice would greet her.
"Why are we here?"

A feverish laugh eclipsed any other turbulent emotion as the Gran Rey bubbled to life, a burning pyre shortly blasting the two. What..? She could tell that was a normal Cero.. She swore, was that woman's hair red? Her feet skid backwards as two forces met, only to be confronted with a plume of dust obscuring her vision. Where was she... Where was she?! The arrancar was about to loose another Cero, as if it mattered whether or not it hit the woman as long as it cleared-
The blade came at her faster than she could think or feel.
Again, she was on the ground. Again, she was dazed. Again, she was left with an increasing sense of confusion - Where was she? The lands burned... The Academy? Why did she feel so frantic, so disorientated...?
Her senses bristled with the figure of another before her, only for the sensation of a dropping stone to drag her heart down her chest. Even if she had struggled many years to finally recognize her form, it was unmistakable who was standing before her...
She reeled back, creating distance between the two of them, greened yellow eyes staring at this other her in an almost calculating fashion, before her expression shifted to that of a manic, a breaking laugh escaping her lips, "What trickery is this? Do you intend to frighten me by my own might? Only prey so foolish would believe that's effective!"
Her hands... Why were her fingers trembling?

The sight of Kita's expression was exactly what she needed. Those wide eyes, those dilated pupils. And of course, the way the woman's body was shaking like a leaf. It was a little strange, the shift in perspective. But she wasn't unused to it. even if the last year or so had kept her out of practice. She had so many decades of experience that more than prepared her for wearing the mask of another.
"Then why are you afraid, fake?" She asked as she strode towards the woman, lightly sifting the scythe through her fingers, slowly twirling it at her side as she approached Kita. "If you think you can pretend to be Kita Lirio you're mistaken. I'd never be so weak and pathetic to be trembling before the sight of myself." The woman's own voice dripped with contempt. Disgust. As if she absolutely WAS disgusted with a fake version of herself.
She strode towards the arrancar, not quite entering their reach, but still pressuring their sense of safety and personal space as they moved. "Be a doll, throw down that stick of yours and hand your head low. I'll kill you real quick, Faker."
