BAMBIETTA BASTERBINE
"Right, I can do that..."
Rifling around her belongings for a few moments, Bambietta pulled out several talismans of similar size, if much more tightly-wound, and loaded them in. Byakurai was easy, certainly something she had total understanding of. These, however, were for her own development, Hadō 62: Hyakkenryusei. She couldn't really call it an invention in good conscience. Kneeling down again, she took up her same shooting posture, and when she spoke in response to Momo's second question, she seemed a bit more confident, her voice more firm.
"I was serving out a death sentence with a penal legion of one of the militaries down in the world of the living. It was better than just getting put down, I guess. It still wasn't really any way to live, though. Just a lot of hard work, even if I was paying my dues to society. I'm really glad I could make a life up here. I feel like I've done a lot more to make up for all that without shooting anyone."
As her finger once again pulled the trigger, a Hadō burst forward, the 100 bright red javelins an obvious modification of Bakudo 62: Hyapporankan. 2 more spells rapidly followed suit, an onslaught of offensive kido that most opponents would likely have struggled to deal with in any way other than pure defense.

MOMO HINAMORI
While she was most definitely impressed with Bambietta’s modification, Momo was still mulling over what her guest had just said in answer to her question. The Ex Lieutenant had certainly not expected that and as the dark haired woman’s gaze moved from the now rather battered target to its attacker, Momo couldn’t help but naturally wonder just why Bambietta had been in such a place to begin with. She was able to put two and two together and come to the conclusion that her guest must have been a Substitute Shinigami with little issue but there was obviously more to the story, a great deal more.
“I must confess that I wasn’t expecting an answer quite as brutally honest as that.” Momo answered candidly, having to admit that she rather appreciated the candour. The brown eyed woman had dealt with enough lies and deceit to last a lifetime. “I’ve no idea the reason why you found yourself in that legion and I’m not going to push you into telling me if you don’t wish to. I’ll say this though. The work you’re doing is more than making up for the mistakes you’ve made in the past and don’t let anyone tell you differently.”
Falling silent for a moment, she’d then approach the woman and place a hand on the top of the gun, far away from the dangerous end. “You’ve come up with a brilliant tool here and I’ve no doubt that one day, you’ll be able to fire whatever spell you wish from it, whether it be traditional or one you’ve made yourself. I honestly believe that you’re at a level of skill that few can match and it’s so uplifting to know that there are individuals out there who care so much about our favourite art.”

BAMBIETTA BASTERBINE
"It's all public record. I've gotten kinda used to people knowing, I guess."
Though Bambietta's tone of voice had certainly grown a bit more serious, there was a sense of defeat to it even now. After all, she knew most people who looked into her probably judged her on that. It would kind of be stupid for the average person not to. Momo's reassurance was the kind of thing that she didn't hear often, the sort of support she'd only heard from a small handful of people up here in Soul Society.
"Thank you. It's been a lot of work, but I've had a lot of time to myself. I just thought maybe it would help other people when they're out and about. Make kido seem more accessible, not as scary to use. I don't know how long it would take for these talismans to get widespread use or anything, but I really hope they can help people."
Honestly, even though she was profoundly proud of the Kido Gun Type II, the talismans on the whole meant far more to Bambietta. She believed very genuinely that they could save a lot of lives, and that was what she wanted more than anything.

MOMO HINAMORI
A small smile crossed Momo’s face as she listened to Bambietta speak. Regardless of what she’d done in the past, the dark haired woman was more than convinced that her guest had indeed made up for any harm she may have caused. The Ex Lieutenant had spoken truthfully previously about her faith in the woman and it was so rare to see such conviction these days. Bambietta genuinely wished to help and Momo wished that she got that feeling from the Gotei itself.
“I believe that your talismans will do just that and with time, perhaps the Gotei will be open minded enough to consider using them too. I know how stubborn they can be when it comes to their traditions and new ways of learning but I hope that maybe they have moved on just a bit from how it used to be.” Momo didn’t sound overly convinced by her own words but soon enough her smile grew. “Regardless, I know for certain that those in the Kido field will most definitely find uses for them and I hope that you will keep me in the loop as to how your work is progressing.”
There was a topic that she hadn’t touched on just yet, one which Bambietta caused to return to Momo’s mind with her previous words. “You spoke about being on medical leave when you arrived. If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly happened to you? Did you have an incident with your experiments?”

BAMBIETTA BASTERBINE
"Oh, absolutely! I'd be glad to keep you updated on any progress I make, I have a lot of other projects going on right now that I've got high hopes for."
Such support left no small joy in Bambietta's chest, but she didn't want to seem too overeager or overbearing in all this. Even if she had a lot she wanted to do, and a lot she believed she could do, it was still best to stay measured and professional whenever she could.
"Oh, um... No, it wasn't anything to do with all that. When I was serving my time, part of the process was a lot of...augmentations, you know. Cybernetics and stuff. They were pretty extensive, not really supposed to come out or anything like that. Captain Urahara removed them for me, but taking all that out was still a little stressful. I only recently stopped needing a wheelchair to get around the Seireitei."
Honestly, she still probably should have been using it, but Bambietta was stubborn, if nothing else. She wanted to walk on her own two feet.

MOMO HINAMORI
It was rather nice to hear a little confidence back in Bambietta’s voice again and Momo was certainly looking forward to hearing about any future ideas that the woman might have. The Ex Lieutenant supposed if there was one aspect of her old life that she missed, it was the exchanging of ideas between keen and curious minds. Even back in the Academy, Momo had already been bothering her teachers with her own opinions and theories, it was just a shame that some of them had been rather rigid about such things. Such was life.
The smile that had been on her face faded slightly once more as Bambietta spoke about the reason for her medical leave. Momo was acquainted enough with the ideas of cybernetics to understand the concept but the thought of using it in human beings was rather abhorrent to her. The advantages of having such augmentations were understandable to her but in her opinion, they weren’t nearly enough to compensate for the potential harm that they could cause. It was against nature.to do such things,
With a note of concern in her voice, she’d ask. “Are you going to make a full recovery from it all? It sounds like quite a horrific experience to me.”

BAMBIETTA BASTERBINE
"I'm hopeful that I will. Captain Urahara and I talked about the risks when I first asked him to help me with it, and he told me that it was possible something like this wouldn't allow for a total recovery to what I'd have been without it. But even if I can't make a full recovery, I'd rather live free and not have that stuff, you know?"
Bambietta couldn't help but let out a sigh at that, one somewhere between resignation and simple acceptance, an 'it is what it is' that she'd found was the only particularly healthy way to think about all of it. After all, what was really the alternative? To be sad forever about the path in life that had led her here? No, that wasn't on the table for her. She had ambitions, after all. She wanted to make the world a better place for the people in her life.
"It was pretty terrible, I can't lie and say anything else about it. But I'm okay with it."

MOMO HINAMORI
It would be clear to see the sympathy that Momo felt towards her new friend. Her brown eyes pretty much were drowning in it. Bambietta had been through so much and the Ex Lieutenant couldn’t help but feel once more than she was almost staring into a mirror. It truly seemed that pain was something that had been a constant companion in her fellow Shinigami’s life. Life was harsh, Momo knew that well enough but still, she couldn’t help but feel for Bambietta. She hoped above everything that perhaps finally the woman could finally find something other than torment.
“I certainly hope that you’re able to recover from it all. There’s no one better than Captain Urahara when it comes to such things and if anyone could allow you to live painlessly and problem free, it’s him.” Her own experiences with the man were limited but his prowess was most definitely well known. “The thought of having to have had those cybernetics implanted to begin with makes me shiver.”
After pondering over matters for a moment, she’d smile again although it was more bittersweet. “You’ve been so brave to have survived all of this. I can hardly believe just how much you;ve been through.” It spoke volumes about the woman’s resolve.

BAMBIETTA BASTERBINE
"Well, I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to beg for sympathy or anything like that... It's been hard, but I think it's alright. I like where I am in life right now, so I think it's best if I just remind myself I might be somewhere else if that hadn't all happened."
Setting the Kido Gun Type II into the case she'd brought it in, Bambietta offered a polite bow to Momo, remarkably thankful for her understanding over the course of this whole conversation. Few people were quite so openly understanding about it, and fewer still were so friendly. There wasn't much more Bambietta could ask for, really.
"Thank you very much, Ms. Hinamori. I'm really honored for everything you've said today, and I'm really looking forward to talking with you again in the future. Um, if that's okay with you."

MOMO HINAMORI
Watching the woman as she packed up, Momo would tilt her head and ponder for a few moments. The fact that this woman was still in one piece truly was astounding and there’d been no exaggeration in her words. It was honestly just nice to see someone who’d managed to suffer through so much and come out the other side intact. Such a mindset might have seemed odd but having been through so much herself, the dark haired woman couldn’t help but smile when she saw another who’d been through the same amount of torment. Bambietta hadn’t cracked and frankly, she was a stronger woman than Momo herself. The Ex Lieutenant had cracked more than once, more times that she could count.
Bowing in return, she’d then take a step forward and place a comforting hand on the woman’s shoulder. “My home is your home and I’ll be here whenever you'd like to chat. Remember what we talked about and don’t let anyone put you down or make you feel inferior. You’ve made mistakes and now you’re more than making up for them. That’s all that matters and if you ever feel lost, just think about those that you wish to help and I’m sure you’ll find the path again.”
Chuckling, she’d then add. “I certainly hope you do stop by again as I meant what I said. I expect to be the first to hear when you make your next Kido breakthrough.”
