Dinner and a Show [Reida, Safira]
Tue Jan 23, 2024 4:33 pm
SAFIRA | RED DWARF
While she'd sent Klein on his little assignment, Safira hardly trusted her little bird to do it without keeping her eye on him. He'd shown her something he'd been hiding after all. The arrancar had every intention of monitoring him to ensure that he succeeded, analyse what else he'd been keeping from her, and finally, she wanted to make sure that if he wanted to try any funny business that she could administer some firm discipline. If necessary.
"My my, he's certainly made it look ugly."
She said it to no one in particular, putting her own thoughts about the divided part of her soul that looked distorted by Asher's corruption into the air around her.
"What do you think, Reida? Do you think those two can beat it?"
Safira asked to promote small talk. She did remember fighting the redheaded Adonis when she appeared under the guise of a white-haired woman to destroy their defences with many of her hollow peers in tow.

Reida didn't really like being here for this, if only because it reminded her exactly of how far away she was walking from the path she'd been content on. But, even so, that path wasn't taking her anywhere she wanted to go. Her eye didn't once waver from the battlefield as she simply looked at the only combatant on it she cared for.
"Ain't a doubt in my mind."
She didn't think it would be an easy fight for them, though. Reida knew Alastair well, and she had plenty of faith in him. That's exactly why she didn't have any doubts that he'd be able to win this. What she doubted, though, was that he'd be able to win it without getting hurt. If anything, he was going to suffer no small amount for this.

"Hoh?"
She looked over at her sapling with a grin. She doubted that she knew of Klein or his abilities but to be so bold to declare something like that with such confidence meant she was stupid or knew some information that Safira didn't but the more likely answer was that she had faith.
In the one with red hair?
Safira glanced back at the handsome one with a sneer. The memory of sending him with his tail between his legs came to mind and she had been more reserved then. What on Earth could he possess that might give him an edge this time?
"I see, though the white haired one... I want you to disable him if he looks like he might do anything funny. Failure is fine but betrayal? For a second one he needs to have his wings clipped."

"Mm? Yeah, sure."
Reida didn't much care for the casual way that the girl handed out an order like that, but she didn't mind the notion of blowing an Arrancar out of the sky, either. She simply drew her rifle from her back and began making adjustments for long-range shooting, eyes moving between her work and the battle in front of them.
"Got any specifics in mind when you say 'funny,' sweetheart? Or 'm I just blowin' him outta the sky whenever I think it's about time?"
Realistically, she wouldn't shoot him. If anything, she'd be more concerned about Alastair's involvement, and she didn't really imagine that she'd care much about the other one involved.

"I'll let you know the time, the noisy little bird is quite worthy of a disciplining but to sabotage him at the moment unnecessarily only does more harm than good."
She explained while raising an eyebrow. Truly the impudent one that man was, the willingness to cling to anyone or anything that might increase his chances of survival.
"I wonder what Klein's intentions are to cooperate with that Quincy. Either let him do all the hard work or use him as a convenient tool, I imagine."
Safira kept an eye on Reida when she said that, she did seem sure of their success but such faith could never be placed in Klein. She was part of the Vandenreich though so the serpentine woman could see the old bonds drawing her to support their success. That was good, Safira also wanted the Vandenreich to succeed against this hollow - as much as she needed Klein to ride off that success.

"Works for me."
Reida kept listening, though the girl's way of speaking always came off a little too grandiose for Reida's liking. Nothing to be done about it, though. She'd dealt with plenty worse in her lifetime, so this was barely anything worth talking about.
"Wouldn't be surprised either way, knowin' that type. But he's a good one. He ain't the type to get taken advantage of so easy."
Sure, maybe she was giving a bit away about herself, but it didn't really mean much to Reida if she did that. She could handle most things just fine, after all, and not talking about herself was just going to make this little journey of hers all the more bitter.

"Good, I'd hate if Klein ruined their chances of success by betraying him. Since you know who he is, what is that weapon he employed? I've never seen something so sharp."
Safira leaned forward like she was trying to see what he'd done to cut open the body of Uroboros like it was paper. She did not like that the Quincy had a tool like that, if it could cleave through the skin of her powers like they were butter then Safira understood that it could be just as effective against her. He had done the same trick against Kizuna when they fought.

"He got it a while back from some arms dealer he knew. Heard she's dead now though, so I don't imagine you're gettin' another of those."
Reida removed the current barrel of her rifle with practiced ease, attention now more on the work with her fullbring than on the fight in front of her. She only had one eye, after all, so she needed to use it pretty well.
"Dunno much about it, either. Know it's made of somethin' special though."

Obviously that's what it was. She was not an imbecile and every bit of her arrogance was earned, Safira might like to demonstrate that once she had corrected this little miscarriage of circumstances that had left her like this. It didn't matter though, no matter what form she took, she had persisted this long. Asher's interference would not get in the way of her eternal existence.
She might've also chided her sapling for that naïve outlook as well. The property of the dead was something the living could use a lot better. If she was dead it just meant one less thing that might get in the way of him acquiring more of them . At least in theory, it must be made out of "somethin' special" for it to have those properties and she didn't imagine that secret formula to Damascus was easy to gather resources and then apply a process to create.
"It doesn't concern you that you might be looking down the edge of that knife one day?"
Safira wondered while her face twisted to become one of annoyance. These two buffoons were opting to attack its flesh? What a waste of time. It would just regenerate but the two of them were too focused on the immediate issue and not the ornament that Safira had identified as being something she never had in her resurreccion prior.
Neither did she have those disgusting limbs growing off her that made the whole thing look like some disgusting centipede. For him to take and molest her like this, she had every bit of grinding down the one called Asher if someone else couldn't do it but no matter what she would spit in the face of the one that made her crawl by becoming something far more menacing.

With one eye still squarely on her gun, Reida's expression seemed to sour no small amount. After all, she'd thought about that, more than once even in the short time since she'd started on this little journey of hers. How couldn't she? The Vandenreich was fundamentally opposed to this kind of life.
"I ain't plannin' to be on the other side of it. Don't think it'd ever come to that."
Not because she expected the two of them to never cross paths, though. She wanted to hope that would be the case, of course. If she just stayed on this path of hers, she really doubted that she'd ever actually run into her allies there. After all, did any of them care about the well-being of the Soul Society? She hoped not, anyway, but even thinking that made her doubt herself.
"Even if it gets to that, I'm not the kinda gal to fight up close 'n personal. If he's got me at the end of that sword, I already lost."
