SAWACHIKA KYO

Oh, she was actually quicker than Kyo would have expected for a new recruit. That was impressive enough to make his smile just a touch wider, and while she'd certainly caught him by surprise, his awareness on the battlefield was nothing to sneeze at. His blade moved quickly to meet Rei's strike, focused only on defending for now given she was the one more in need of practice here.

The second blow came fairly quickly for such a new shinigami, but Kyo's attention had been primarily on guarding rather than making his own opportunities to attack. As such, he was able to block the second blow as well, though he didn't make any counterattack.

"That's pretty good! I wasn't sure what to expect from a new recruit, but you've got some skill."

Rei knew thst he would outclass her overall, but maybe she could keep surprising him. Seeing as it seemed like he wasn't expecting her to be this fast as a recruit maybe she could throw in some kido to throw him off. She would slide away from him, and she would give a smile.

"Thank you sir."

Rei would extend her index and pointer finger at the officer as she would speak an incantation before announcing.
"Hadō #1: Sai"

She would hope that maybe this would actually restrain the officer, and if it would she would make an attempt to disarm his sword from him, however shebwould give it a second just to make sure that she wouldn't run straight into a trap.

SAWACHIKA KYO

Usage of fundamental bakudo was a good approach to combat, and Kyo commended it in this circumstance. Kyo knew he reasonably could have broken out of this spell with little effort if he simply put the effort forward, but this wasn't about testing his own capabilities. Instead, he allowed the spell to bind his arms behind his back. No sense in keeping his sword in hand, either, so he dropped it as soon as Rei attempted to disarm him.

"Good again!"

Of course, that still meant Rei was in close proximity now, and just because he was disarmed didn't mean he was harmless. One leg whipped out toward the woman, a fairly basic hakuda technique intended to simply keep her off balance rather than actually injure her.

Rei would not be ready for the kick, and she would try to move her sword to block it. However, she wouldn't be quick enough and the kick would make contact with her as she would slide away from him, and almost lose her footing. The kick wasn't anything fancy, but he seemed to be physically superior to her as she would shake her arm and look at the bruise that formed.

"I still wasn't ready for that one. I was too focused on your zanpakto being the only threat.'

She would dismiss the bakudo as she would wait for him to continue, or if he wanted it could end there.

"If we continue going do you mind attempting to start round 2? I need to know atleast hoe to defend from someone physically more powerful than me."

"Always keep aware of your opponent, not just their weapon. That'll get you killed in a real fight!"

Kyo nodded in answer to Rei's question, once again taking up his proper stance as he studied her defense. If she wanted to practice defending against someone stronger, he certainly wasn't opposed to that, though he knew he still ought to hold back.

Stepping toward her, with a fairly reserved shunpo that avoided being too fast to handle, Kyo raised his blade upward, before swinging it down in a direct overhand slice. He wasn't aiming to cut the woman in half or anything like that, but it was certainly a strike that would probably rattle her if she simply blocked it head-on.

Rei wouldn't really know how to block it. The shunpo would take her off guard as she wasn't really trained to fight things that had anything like flash step. She would gasp as she would raise her sword to block the man's as she would feel the difference in physical power become obvious as she would feel the force pushing onto her sword. She could feel her wrists in pain, but she would push past that.

After absorbing most of the shock from that swing her body did not want her to keep going, bur she was not oen to give up after meeting an obstacle she will need to cross for her goal eventually. She would tighten her shaking hands as she would swipe the wooden sword at the other shinigamis waist, although, this slice was very noticeably weaker than the last. "You're scary sir.," *Shw would pant out after the swing.

SAWACHIKA KYO

The incoming blow was obviously much weaker than the previous had been, and Kyo evaded it fairly easily, keeping his hold on his weapon as he studied the newer shinigami. He didn't want to push her too far, since he knew that wasn't how you grew well. Other people believed in going past your limits, and Kyo did too, to a degree. But there was a second limit past that one, where you were just hurting yourself.

"Do you think so? I'll take that as a compliment."

Lowering his sword, Kyo sheathed it, gesturing for Rei to do the same.

"I think that's a good metric of where you are for now. You're still pretty green, right? Pushing you too hard just means you'll need to take longer to recover, so that's no good."

Rei would nod as she would realize the training was over. She would resheath her blade as shee would give him a deep bow.

"Thank you for your time sir. It was invaluable"

As she would turn to dismiss herself, and she would begin moving towards her barracks. it would.probably be better to take a break for the evening as opposed to continuing training when she can feel her muscles stinging.
