Re: The Ol Welcome Wagon [Rei, Noharu]

Noharu couldn't help but chuckle softly when she saw that hopeful look on the girl's face. Alright well that was just adorable, but all the same she let a hand rest on her own hip and gave an amused smirk at the recruit. "HAH, well you'll find out soon enough. That kinda decision isn't something I go making alone. And truth be told, which officer you work with may change over the course of the year, maybe shorter than that. So I can't really assure you who you'll be working with. What's important is that you make sure you listen to your Guide Officer and that you put in the effort. But based on your academy records, I don't think that'll be an issue." She noted pleasantly.
Sure, she couldn't quite affirm anything that would make the gal relax. And she could sortof tell what the girl was hoping, but she'd have to be patient for now and see how things panned out. Still, she was sure the girl and her would run into eachother without fail. With the way Eight Division operated it was sortof inevitable that you'd wind up with someone on an assignment, Eigth division went where they were needed and so it was pretty often that they wound up working together at some point, whereas there were a lot of squads where depending on your role you could not see a fair portion of your squadmates, depending on the squad of course.

Rei would nod at the academy comment. Outside of kido Rei was Fairly good student, but she wasn't the most talented. She just worked hard to become proficient, but that had been the girls whole life even in her human life.
"I see, so what are the other officers names? And do you think any of you guys could help me understand how to grow stronger? My zanpakto refuses to give me her name."
As she would figure that there was no harm in asking. At worst she will just be in the same predicament that she's already in, and at best maybe she could overcome this hurdle that she's in front of.

Noharu paused and tilted her head for a moment. "Ah, well There;s myself. Vice Captain Matsumoto. As well as Captain Rose. A couple of our other officers have moved to other squads. I admit I haven't taken a look at the roster in a while. Though if you're asking about getting stronger, there's a couple people you could ask about it. Admittedly I don't think we have any particular high end Zanjutsu specialists. But we can certainly get someone to refer you to for help if you're having trouble."' She pointed out.
A pause as she considered this, glancing sideways toward the Unseated woman before folding her arms. "Though I should note that getting stronger is more than just working on your Zanpaku'to. Zanjutsu is important. But you should also make sure you have some solid fundamental abilities. Relying too much on your zanpaku'to can cause issues." She pointed out, her mind wandering to the woman who had injured her. Talk about ego problems.

"w..well I was just hoping to learn my swords name. I feel like it would help me greatly, but outside of that I think that I have a pretty good understanding of Zanjutsu."
*As she would think about to her time at the academy, and how she was fairly good in the sparing aspect, but her kido really wasn't much of my strong suit if that makes sense.
"Is there anyway that we could have a sparring at some point?"
She would finally end up regaining the courage to speak to the upper seat person..She wanted to have someone that she could spar again, and have them not give up too quickly in the match.

Noharu paused for a moment and considered the woman's words. And for a moment she was reminded of the fight she'd endured not that long ago, and a small concern budded in her mind at the recruit's focus. Yea, she knew it well enough, but even so she did worry. Was this whole generation just all obsessed with their Zanpaku'to? And she couldn't help but suspect that perhaps some of them suffered some holes in their abilities because of it. She closed her eyes and folded her arms.
"You shouldn't be worrying about that sort of thing. Shikai isn't an incredibly common ability as it were. If you can manage to get it, certainly that's a good thing. But you should be careful about getting too focused on that. Take your time with it. Your Zanpaku'to isn't going anywhere. It's also a good idea to remember that not everyone learns the name of their zanpaku'to. There are quite a few members of most divisions who don't. Because of that, you should know it's important to make sure you don't spend all of your time trying for that. You have other useful skills. Hakuda, Hoho, Kido. All of these you can train in the here and now. " She noted calmly. She definitely wasn't too happy with that recent incident. Perhaps she should hold some fundamentals classes for the divisions? She'd have to ask the Lieutenant about it.
That said, she was a bit surprised when she heard the next question. Spar with her? The very notion was enough to make her chuckle softly, a big grin spreading out across her face. "Ahah! It's been a while since a new recruit asked for something like that. Usually its just some smartass asking for my number. Well well, I suppose It'll have to wait." She pointed to her injured frame, the bandages currently covering her. "But once I'm back to shipshape, I'd be happy to give you a good spar at some point. Think you can wait a day or two?"

Rei would take that insinuation as a compliment. She was sure that the officer could handle her, and even I'm her more wounded state she would probably beat her without her zanpakto as well. Other than that she would let the officers words echo about not getting her shikai. That would hurt her pride a little bit because she had already met the spirit it just wouldn't tell her it's name.
"W..well I'm not exactly the greatest at kido. a....and I h..have already met my spirit it just won't tell me it's name."
As she would then add on her answer to the sparring thing.
"S..sorry for asking I just thought you could handle me without being at full power. seeing as you're way stronger than me ya know?"

Noharu paused for a moment and simply stared calmly at Rei for a few seconds as the woman seemed to take her advice about her Zanpaku'to, and then promptly not seem to parse what it was she was saying. A hint of warning in the look she gave the unseated officer. Hm. She might have to keep an eye on this one. She seemed to mean well enough, but there was a bit of stubbornness that she was making note of.
Hm, maybe she'd be better off with one of the other, more strict officers. She herself could be a bit of a hardass, but that shaky demeanor of hers, might not do well, she didn't want to break the poor girl. "That's all well and good. But I certainly hope you don't intend to let your other skills fall by the wayside to focus on your Zanpaku'to. You're young, it's not expected that you'd be amazing at Kido. But you graduated from the academy, and that's plenty for the time being. In time, we'll work on your skills." She assured Rei.
Hm. That stubbornness again.
"If this were a life or death situation, or real combat? Sure, I could handle you if I had to. But I'm injured and recovering, and I've been advised from the members of Second Division not to exert myself. Those are orders I'm obligated to follow."" She explained, watching Rei closely as she did so.

Rei would back down immediately as she would nod at her officer. The reasoning was there, but that didn't mean rei couldn't be disappointed with the outcome as she would speak.
"S..sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was questioning your decision. I was just hoping to get some training in."
She would speak honestly as she didn't want to it to seem like she was doing it out of disrespect or anything. She just got a little overly excited seeing as she actually already got to talk to an officer.
"I didn't mean to sound disrespectful if it came off that way."

Noharu chuckled softly and gave a dismissive wave to the young woman. "I understand, but you need to be careful about the enthusiasm. We all have limitations. In any case, once I'm all patched up, I'd be happy to help you out with your training. I don't really know about a spar, but we can see about helping you with your training if that's what you're really looking for. But for the time being, was there anything else you wanted to ask about today?" She ventured.
After all, she was going to see plenty of Rei in the future. And indeed, the young lass may find trouble sooner than later. As much as they weren't the kinda squad to throw their new recruits into the thick of things, the soul society wasn't quite as safe as it once was. Hopefully, when things did go wrong, the young gal would be able to rely on her own skills, and those of her allies.

Rei would shake her head, and would back up to give the blonde a bow as she would turn on her heels and begin to make her way back towards the barracks." Thannk you for the talk, and I'm sure I'll be under your supervision at some point." *As she would make her way back towards the barracks.*
