2023 Q3 Combat Thread of the Season Nominations
Sat Sep 02, 2023 1:59 pm
COMBAT THREAD OF THE SEASON
I. What's OTS?
Here, we go back over the last three months and pick out different finalists to discern who was the best of the season in certain categories. These nominations, in particular, are for the months of June, July, and August.
This particular OTS category is for the Combat Thread of the Season. Nominate the combat thread that got your blood pumping, felt like it had some serious stakes, or just in general made you feel like there was a real good fight going down.
II. OTS Rules
1. Each member can only submit one nomination per category, so think hard on it.
2. Make sure you name the actual members relevant to your nomination.
3. Please include a link to your nomination.
4. DO NOT NOMINATE YOURSELF.
These nominations will close after 1 week!

https://www.platinumhearts.net/t24172p10-search-and-destroy-africatastrophe-act-ii Gonna go ahead and nominate this thread between Snake and Locke. After giving it a toss and reading through africatastrophe threads, I think as far as a fight thread is concerned, it feels like a lot of effort and passions was put into the fight between Lukas and Ignacio. I also just kinda fuck with the whole vibe that Lukas had rocking up, throwing hands and coming out the other side not dead.

A thread that only finished recently, but started in August, I feel that this picked up traction just at the tail end of the season, and became one of the most interesting threads as a result. This thread had everyone's attention, and rightfully so. Shura showing up to the Eighth Division, challenging them, and while the fight between Ranma and Shura is an entertaining read, the fight with Noharu afterward is what really caught everyone's attention. Shura's exposition on how she feels toward the current Africa event and how she feels about the Gotei's readiness for it. While her ideology is flawed, it still makes for an interesting setup for Noharu's responses in both dialogyue, as well as the following spar/combat.

Honestly, I love what was explored here. It was a pretty momentous character moment for Kaito, who I've followed since the day he was created, and who I have characters who speak with and interact with him. The choreography was pretty fun. It felt intense, and it culminated in Kaito finally learning about his banger Shikai. It is for these reasons that this thread gets my vote.
