He noticed that change in the woman before him rather quickly, his relaxed demeanor a perfect front to his keen eye and running thoughts. Did his run through of Ella's life with him ring familiar to her? Though he had little to nothing on the woman's upbringing, as was inevitable with most people since such a period wasn't typically able to be documented apart from in the past tense or hindsight - methods that were considerably unreliable. But emotion persisted past the clarity of memory, and such a thing was being displayed clear as day to him with this woman. Even power had weakness, somewhere.
"A group of children, you say? Interesting. Quite peculiar for a grown woman to do such a thing, typically age groups associate with their own unless designated a role or in some way related to the individual from another age. I'd gather you're their chaperone, but your wording gives me the impression you're a 'part' of the group rather than supervising their activities,"
Taking another sip of his coffee, he'd continue the subject matter as if it were a pleasant conversation on a carefree summer wind, "Perhaps you wish to live vicariously through these children? To experience things you may have not had the opportunity to at a similar age? Are you feeling the need to compensate for a time long lost to you?"

Hannah would look up for a moment, before it clicked. Ahh, Doctor. That gave her a gentle smile, and enough to drag herself out of the thoughts of the past.
"So eager, Doctor. I haven't even paid you yet" Hannah would tease, taking a sip. "But it is true I am part of the group rather than supervising their activities. I met them in Vastime, doing a bit of Vigilantism. The original idea was to keep watch so they didn't hurt themselves, but they were so enthusiastic and full of life it was hard to stay out. And so I found myself part of the Glimmer Gang, as Glimmer Ginger. Or Asafoetida, it depends who you ask"
She would finish her drink, and stroke the cup some, considering something.
"You are correct that I feel a need to compensate for time lost to me, but incorrect as to where that time falls. To be clear, the here and now, is me compensating for time lost to me. My childhood was good, nice and lively to an extent. It was my adulthood that I lost. I never truly grew, in that way. I never got to be a grown woman around my parents, and while Captain Unohana tried her very best, I was still the kind of woman who was inside most of the time. Never interacted, never learned like that. The children, are just a Half-Demon and her racially unknown friend that are enthusiastic and welcoming to me in their Magical Girl group"
She would crack the cup with an influx of energy, spawning a spider-web of cracks across the cup, held together with nothing but an invisible hand. And then, with a beautiful light-show, fix it so that there was never any evidence that it was so much as dinged. She would then pluck herself up, getting more positivity back into her tone, and look to Emil again.
"But enough about me. What about you? Are you disappointing two women with your lack of punctuality, or just the one?"

Vigilantism with a band of children? Even having a name amongst their group? It sounded straight out of a show Ella would probably enjoy. He allowed the shinigami to continue her correction of his guess, his light smile never faltering as she went through an abridged recount of the woes in her life. So from a certain point, she was quite sheltered... He hardly felt much pity for her in actuality, such information filed away as details to consider for later, but such callous information collecting would easily be masked with a little concern in his gaze and a gentle nod, "I see. My condolences. It is good you have some outlet now."
The descriptions of those children and their actions sounded quite familiar.. Though he let the topic rest. He had no reason nor interest to confirm that thought. Especially since Hannah decided to throw the topic onto another track. His hands resting atop each other on the surface of the table, there was no hesitance or loss in composure answering such a thing,
"Just the one. Unfortunately, my wife is no longer with us."

"It is good to see a Doctor is not simply reading out of a book" Hannah would comment, as Emil showed great maturity or great control with the death of his wife. "Though I am sorry for your loss. I certainly hope you handled it better than I did at the time"
She would finish her tea, and then put the cup away, standing up from the chair.
"If you ever want a person to talk to, to hang around with, or to learn extremely esoteric spiritual concepts beyond the ken of most that consider themselves specialists, don't hesitate to call me. Other than that, I would hate to be the cause of further delay"
Hannah seemed to have part sympathy, part awkwardness, and part relating in her tone. A complex set of emotions that she would normally cover decently well, though Emil was too good at seeing through those attempts.

"No need to read out of a book if it's been studied from cover to cover. If my proficiency were lesser, I would have refused to practice," His tone was refined and smooth, speaking both in assurance and confidence of his ability. It was one of many masks he wore, and as useful a cover it was, it was a role he intended to fulfill with aptitude and grace. His smile did not falter with her comment about their handling of a tragic situation, but his tone did change to a hushed sound, "Hard times fall upon all of us, the decision in making effort to stand again is in your hands, at the end of it all."
For such a powerful being, her heart certainly was quite fragile. That seemed to be par for the course in his experience - all the power in the world couldn't save a fragile ego. Pale blue eyes followed her as she stood up and spoke her goodbyes, unwilling to hold him up it seemed. Quite a degree of concern over time from a being capable of living several of his lifetimes, it was a momentary point of humor he glossed over, smiling kindly and waving goodbye,
"Don't worry about the bill. Go on your way."
