Astrid Skov was born into a working-class family in Oslo, Norway, descendants of the Ulberg Quincy clan, though that heritage had long since faded into obscurity. Her parents, unaware of their spiritual lineage, raised Astrid with simple values: hard work, resilience, and loyalty to those who mattered. As a child, Astrid was curious and independent, spending much of her time exploring the city's quieter corners or the forests surrounding it. From a young age, she displayed spiritual awareness, a result of the times. Astrid found herself drawn to what had once been an unseen world, her childhood tinged with equal parts wonder and unease.

By her teenage years, Astrid’s spiritual awareness had become more refined, forcing her to confront the darker side of the spiritual realm. At thirteen, she witnessed her first Hollow attack while walking home from school, its monstrous form ripping through the spiritual energy of a lost plus soul. Fear paralyzed her, but her instincts flared when the Hollow turned its attention toward her. A burst of energy from her hands knocked the creature back, allowing a passing Shinigami to finish the job. Though she survived, the experience left her shaken—and curious. With no mentor to guide her, Astrid began experimenting on her own, honing her ability to focus and release her spiritual energy. Her training was clumsy and unfocused, but she learned through trial and error, gaining a basic control over her growing powers.

Astrid’s independence deepened as she entered adulthood. Unable to fully explain her abilities, she drifted, keeping her experiences with her spiritual powers to herself while juggling part-time jobs and a growing reputation as someone who would step in to help those in need. Whether breaking up a fight or protecting a stranger from danger, Astrid earned respect for her bravery and resourcefulness, even if some saw her as reckless. Her powers were not really a secret, but she used them discreetly when the need arose, often fighting off weaker Hollows that strayed into her neighborhood. Despite her growing strength, she remained acutely aware of her limitations and feared the day she might face a threat too strong for her to handle.

Her turning point came when a Hollow attacked a close friend during a festival in downtown Oslo. Though Astrid managed to drive the creature away, the encounter left her shaken, realizing how much more dangerous the spiritual realm had become in recent years. For the first time, she began to wonder if she was doing enough to protect the people she cared about. This doubt pushed her to take her training more seriously, developing her skills and discipline in isolation. She focused on refining her spiritual energy, incorporating her love for martial arts into her technique and forging her own unique fighting style to compensate for her lack of formal guidance.

By the time she reached her late tweens, Astrid had become a local figure of sorts—known to some as a spirited protector who always seemed to show up when trouble called. Though her abilities were still modest compared to the legendary warriors of the past century, her determination to shield others from harm set her apart. Her path eventually led her to Aegir Company, drawn by their growing reputation for addressing spiritual phenomena. Joining the company marked a new chapter in her life, providing her with the tools and resources to take her abilities to the next level while offering her a chance to contribute to the defense of the world on a larger scale. That, and also to explore possibly why she couldn’t fully manifest her Quincy powers.


» Natural Abilities:
Innate Martial Skill: While unrefined, in the professional sense, her own style developed during her self-training is surprisingly effective. It is also interesting at how close it seems to mirror a mix between boxing and taekwondo.

Keen Senses: Her Quincy heritage might not have manifested in full, due to the years of intermarriage and dilution of the bloodline, but she did retain a higher than normal intuition and ability to spot what others might miss.

Diluted Bloodline: She can trace her line to a Quincy clan, but over the years of intermarrying, she cannot produce a full range of Quincy powers. She only seems capable of Blut in times of stress, or intense need. However it is possible with training and exposure, she could develop some more control over them.


» Powers:
Energy Burst [Energi Eksplosjon]: Astrid can generate concentrated spheres of energy that she fires at enemies in rapid succession or charges into a single, more powerful blast. These projectiles are especially effective against Hollow but require focus to sustain in prolonged combat.

Overdrive Strike [Overdrive Streik]: By concentrating her energy into her fists or feet, Astrid enhances her physical strikes, creating shockwaves or small energy explosions on impact. This allows her to bridge the gap between ranged and close-quarters combat.

» Roleplay Sample:
Astrid was a member of the Haukar unit of the Aegir Company. Otherwise known as the Agents of the company, she had joined up to use the Company’s ties to her Quincy ancestry to help her discover more about herself. It was not entirely self-serving, but the quest to know who you are and where you fit in the world was a motivating factor for her reason for engaging with the Company as an employee.

Astrid found herself enroute to patrol in the outskirts of a remote town in Norway. The transport vehicle bounced occasionally as it hit rough spots in the unpaved road. She was assigned to a group recovering resources to be used in the manufacture of the company’s prime export, spiritual weaponry. The mission specifications did indicate that the area could attract Hollow or other spiritual entities due to the spiritual significance. “Great, let’s just hope they aren’t too strong.”, she muttered to herself as she read over her dossier of the mission.

Astrid didn’t have much time to consider that, as the vehicle lurched to the side, and it rolled. The force of the impact, and motion of her seat now being on the ceiling, which she crashed into only made her realize they were under attack! The perpetrator became increasingly evident as a powerful roar of a corrupted spirit echoed around them. “Hollow…”, she groaned as Astrid pushed herself up to a standing position. Blue traces of Blut Vein retracted, as her bloodline manifested to reduce the impact of the car crash.

The cold air greeted Astrid as she pulled herself from the wreckage of the troop transport vehicle she had been riding in. The sound of combat reached her ears as the surviving members of her unit were now engaging the Hollow threat that had derailed them abruptly. It was time to act decisively, as she gathered energy to her hands, charging up the spirit power into a sphere. The glowing, blue, light shined like a symbol of hope as she raised it up and took aim at the beast. “Energi Eksplosjon!”, she shouted as the energy ball flew from her body at the massive, gorilla-like, spirit. The Hollow was likely an inspiration for some of the Yeti sightings reported in some of the local tabloids, but as the energy impacted with it, that became even less relevant as the roar of agony and wails of rage from it boomed outward. The fight had just begun it seemed…


» Character Intent: Just trying to make my first character. I figured I’d go High-Spec with some Quincy elements to sort of fit the mold of one of the existing organizations to get used to the setting. I hope this is better than my first attempt. fingers crossed
