Hanako Shikijou Shihouin, The Candy Girl (v4)

Original Creation Date: Thursday, November 25th, 2010 (1:32 PM)
General Information
Name: Hanako Shikijou Shihouin
Age: 18 (Birthday: November 25th, 2392)
Gender: Female
Overall Appearance
Personality: Hanako was a typical do-gooder, but has a string of bad luck as she was also in the life of crime. However, it often did not affect her views on certain subjects. She can still try to save lives and protest on any mentioning of having to kill someone, even if it was justified. Being free-spirited, she would be stubborn about retaining her freedom to roam around the world as she assumed as a home outside of her father’s mansion. Despite her intentions seemed to be reckless, she has some intellect behind her intentions as she quickly makes some priorities and observe the situation before lunging into ground zero. It is when she is running away is when she gets reckless.
________After buying her weapons, she immediately took responsibility. Her choice to take responsibilities of her weapons made some clear sense of maturity for her age; however her weapons are almost meaningless when against a person. Hanako detested the thought of having to use them to kill something, but it does not mean she is willing to use it to stop, to intimidate or to slow down her targets. She always reminded herself that she was not her father, a cold-blooded merchant of oppression who disgraced her mother. Even the mentioning of her father would set off her bitter choice of words. She also does not take it so well when told that she is treated like a stereotypical woman, fragile and sensitive; instead she can make some few choice words.
________She was actually a good soul who was tossed into situations that degraded her moral standing in society the moment her reputation was ruined by her father. She began as a pick pocket like it is an honest job and then turns to bounty hunting when she learned about it after buying her weapons. With her deficient experience in handling criminals and fugitives, it would seem unlikely that she would be successful in many ways. Because of her size, she was often mistaken for being younger than what she really is and Hanako often responded calmly if not annoyed with a prolonged argument about her age.
________Hanako definitely has feelings for Koichi as she believed that he was her wish all along since she was in London, United Kingdom. Whenever she noticed Koichi, she appears to be softer than before, but at the same time, Hanako can get more motivated whenever Koichi is around. Example: Hanako usually fights harder when Koichi is around, but at the same time, she knows her limitation so she has to think of a new tactic. She also allowed Koichi to help her when she does not allow others to help her with her problems. As evident in the first visit to the Iramasha Island, she has a problem coping with a realization that what she knows as not real is real.
________After her total memory reconfiguration by Kisuke Urahara*, her original memory was locked away and her new memory were under the belief that she is the daughter of Yoruichi Shihouin* (practical joke of Kisuke Urahara) and Kisuke Urahara* (that practical joke also backfired on him.) Now she works for Kisuke Urahara as a shop advertiser and candy peddler for both Shinigami who was looking for a mod-soul candy and humans who wanted to appease their child’s guilty pleasure. Overall, she is very kind and innocent. Children like her very much and often called her “the Candy Girl,” while high school boys and would-be gang members come to her for very different reasons.
________In combat, Hanako usually stay behind the battle formation and cast spells at the enemies as a support for her allies. She can also heal someone from a distance, allowing her to heal any injury on her ally without having to be at touching distance or out of combat situations like the traditional healers would have to meet. She generally disliked hurting other humans, but if her hand is forced, she will have to stow her loathing and defend herself with her staff or pushed further, her spells.

Height: 5’2” (Yes, she is quite short for her age)
Weight: Lightweight
Natural Abilities
Weakling: Hanako can be quick and agile, but her endurance is her biggest flaw when it comes to combat. Her endurance by health is lower than average for a human, so any normal attack can incapacitate her quickly if it does not kill her.
Parkour: Known as “free running” or “urban acrobatics,” it is commonly used by experienced pick pockets like Hanako. It does not do any real good in combat, but it makes the person harder to catch and even reach due to many areas that free runners can get to when an average police officer is unable to get to on foot. It also works against cumbersome hover vehicles due to the size difference and agility difference. Again, it does not add to her overall offensive, it is designed to be evasive.
Picking Pocket: Known as the “sleight of hand,” it is the technique that low-class thieves utilize to obtain trinkets, money and small valuables by distracting the person and within a second, pick something out of their pocket. In the long run, it can be lived on if done right, but it could not do any good in combat efforts. So Hanako’s power tier was not raised. Right now, she no longer does that anymore because she was against it.
Hakudo: Taught by Yoruichi*, Hanako can use her body as a weapon. It does not block most weapons like a sword can; but if mastered, it can be more fearsome than any weapon created other than bombs and explosives. Given to her strength and endurance, she based her attacks on speed and agility, thus not granting her no real advantage when it comes to power.
Medicine: Learned from her spiritual friend in the lake temple, she is capable of mixing flowers and herbs into concoctions that would heal wounds quickly, filter out poisons and more. It does not replace the conveniences of the Cure ability, but it is more powerful than the ability by itself.
Powers
Inner Purity: Her reiatsu glowed brightly with clear light blue, implying that her reishi is more pure than an average human’s reishi. This made her capable of using her powers more efficiently and last longer when using spells due to the little amount of pure reishi instead of some amount of impure reishi inputted into each spell cast. Consequentially, pure reishi still take longer to refresh than impure reishi, so for quick recovery, Hanako would need a focus point of pure reishi to draw from.
Immunity To Spiritual Pressure: Due to prolonged exposures to great amount of spiritual pressure, Hanako developed a natural immunity to the effects of overwhelming spiritual pressure. Although it helps her in fighting against someone with a very high spiritual pressure, it does not mean she was enhanced in combat abilities. She still displayed average human combat potentials while she is still fragile against strong attacks. It is a rare trait, despite its contradictory review on its uses.
(Forum Wise: Hanako can interact with and combat against someone from high Tier without suffering from the effects of spiritual pressure, even if they are from Tier 0. However, it does not affect her rank because it never adds anything to her combat strength. So Hanako stays being Rank 5-5)
Cure: Hanako’s basic healing ability that repairs flesh, blood and reishi by sending a bolt of concentrated reishi at her intended target. Because of being in the field of reishi, the power of the healing is powerful at the start, but wades when distant; it implied that it has a limited range while most effective when Hanako was touching the target.
Fire: Hanako learned to produce a ball of fire from reishi and blasts an enemy with it, though is it not as strong as most would expect, but it still packs a mean punch. Overall by raw power, this is the most powerful attack.
Aero: Hanako learned to manipulate the wind pattern using reishi and blows an enemy off their feet. It is not strong by raw damage, but the impact into the environmental objects can make that up.
Bolt: Hanako creates an unbalanced fusion of the pure and impure reishi, creating electricity that can be shot into the sky then descend upon an enemy with great force. This is the most powerful in her arsenal of attacks when applied upon an enemy affected by the Water ability.
Water: Hanako combined Fire with the air, creating multiple unseen explosions that appeared to look like the fire is turning into water. From there, she launched it upon her target, damaging it with great force while enhancing the effect of her Bolt ability. It can also enhance the Cure ability by being gently applied up on the injured target.
Quake: Hanako implanted the reishi into the ground and forcefully guided them to her foe, creating a trail of earth trail of destruction that can knock any non-heavy enemies in its path to the targeted foe. The ground beneath the targeted foe will collapse into a crater, causing anyone to lose their balance and this spell enhances the effect of any ability except Bolt because Bolt does not apply force into the damage.
Power Development Stage 1
Appearance
A metallic and wooden quarter staff appeared in Hanako’s possession. Given to her training in martial arts, she no doubt can use it for more than just enhancing her spells.
Hanako Shihouin, the Candy Girl Quarterstaff
Abilities
Empowered Spells: Hanako’s abilities mentioned in regular powers are greatly enhanced to affect more than just one target, it could potentially affect three people including herself or three enemies consecutively (only does it one at a time like chained lightning.)
Power Development Stage 2
Appearance
Hanako briefly disappears for a while and this happens...

Abilities
Feathered Retribution: Stage 2 was only very brief as Hanako disappeared for the duration of the attack. While she was absent, a giant yellow bird with a small imp on its back rushed into the battlefield like a kamikaze before ramming into the group of enemies. If they are clustered together, it is likely they will all be affected by the devastating, yet humorous attack, but if they are scattered, it can do damage to one or not as much targets in a small area. After the attack is completed with the bird’s retrieval of its imp companion and its retreat, Hanako reappeared. Note: It is a brief moment of invulnerability for Hanako that only lasts until her next turn. During the invulnerability, Hanako cannot do anything at all.

Apparel
SHORT STEEL-TOED LEATHER BOOTS: (Clothing) Hanako chose it for versatility and its capability of dealing damage when kicking at her foes. The steel plate was covered in a second layer of leather. Due to short neck, little restriction was applied.
STEEL-PLATED LEATHER FINGERLESS: (Clothing) Gloves bought during her high school years as the alternative mean of self-defense. Although the steel plate was located on the top of the gloves, it provided protection for Hanako’s hands while allowing her to deliver a nasty backhanded slap.
PINK HEADBAND: Primarily used to keep Hanako’s hair tamed, although Hanako has great sentimental value for it, so she would always appear with it on, even if it does not match her outfit.
Background
________As an illegitimate child, Hanako was born as the daughter of a ruthless employee who defected from a pharmaceutical corporation and the same corporation’s representative who was once running for Japan’s Prime Minister. Hanako’s happiness was with her father who cared for her since she was an infant while her mother was passively absent to attend to meetings and the campaign itself. However, it soon became only a dream to her as her father began to lean towards exploiting her body for political gains when she physically matured. Now on her own with her burnt reputation and her will to survive the concrete jungle, Hanako sought for help within Karakura after hearing in London, United Kingdom about a strong people in Karakura from men in black samurai-getups with swords.
________In her childhood, she once lived in a mansion that she referred as the “Shikijou Mansion” named after her father’s side of the family. In the mansion, she freely explored while her father’s maid kept chasing her around. That maid was the closest woman to a mother to Hanako and her name coincidentally was the same as her biological mother, Kimiko. Hanako spends her time with her father and Kimiko sometimes in the backyard that was a small grassy plain with a distant forest gathered tall and mighty like a castle wall for tree spirits. However, on her tenth birthday, Kimiko was found murdered and Hanako was the witness of the murder. A girl her age with black hair and a tattoo on her right arm...brutally murdered Kimiko with one strike by impaling Kimiko’s chest and tearing her heart out in front of Hanako. That girl disappeared and Hanako was scarred with the knowledge that she forbade herself to recite.
________In middle school, she was notably quiet as she attended classes and was bothered by children who would give up their cafeteria lunch to find out if she was like her father; a person whom she thought was warm, but now began to be more distant and less attentive when she has a problem. It could have been the death of Kimiko that plagued her father or something that happened at his workplace. For all she known of him, her father was never as proud as he used to be when Hanako was small and bright. Hanako’s father’s distant affection soon rubbed off onto Hanako as mistakes are made to fill in that attention that she lost that sunset when Kimiko was slaughtered by a sadistic child. Like the average child, Hanako graduated middle school with a flawed academic record instead of the record that Hanako’s father expected her to receive.
________When she attended high school, she acquired a taste of freedom as she met a slick guy who leads a bike gang. That gang alone is where she learned how to pick pockets and basic use of weapons. During her involvement with the gang, she became the leader’s girl when she agreed to go to the dance with the gang’s leader. After a long time of secretive dating, Hanako felt confident for once that the gang’s leader would be welcomed to her father’s mansion. It turned out to be a setup as Hanako was the bait as the same girl with a tattooed arm ambushed her and her lover and murdered the gang’s leader, sparking a small vendetta and a big mistrust from the gang upon Hanako. The threats made against her were clear enough that Hanako was forbidden to leave the mansion. Hanako believed the girl who murdered Kimiko and her boyfriend was protecting something because she remembered Kimiko trying to tell her something about her father. A princess locked in a tower and Hanako felt that freedom abandoned her with a fragmented riddle and no shoulder to lean onto. She was forced to drop out of junior year instead of graduating high school with her new enemies that she does not deserve.
________The news of her biological mother’s growing popularity in the election reached Hanako’s television as Hanako began to hope that her mother was aware of her situation. However, on the third season of the promising year of Hanako’s life, her mother dropped out of the race as Hanako was exposed as her mother’s bastard child...a girl born from a disgraceful form of love...lust. It was not long until she learned from a butler that her father was responsible and he also lied to her that it is meant to be. Why her father would betray her mother like that on public television, even if she was that close to winning? Nothing made a bit of sense to her other than the bitterness of the reality that her father has turned into a cruel man. Hanako was hoping that her mother would try to use her social standing to help her leave the mansion, but it is like her father knew about it and broke the idea like ceramic plates. A week after her mother’s disgraceful loss and the news repeated the election, including Hanako’s mother’s disgrace. After a long time since Kimiko’s murder, her father came into her room, but not for love. He requested that she should play a political game as a person of interest in scandals so her father can keep them under his control. Hanako did not respond so well and it caused her father to lock up her door, forcing Hanako to starve long enough to beg for a chance.
________How Hanako escaped? She looked out the window and shattered it with her coat tower before rappelling down with her many layers of spare bed sheets. Equipped with her old gang’s outfit and her intention clear enough to find help, she ran from the guards to the backyard, where she eluded her pursuers by entering the forest that she remembered as the castle walls for tree spirits when she was a child. She made her way into the city of Osaka, only to realize that there was a bounty on her head and she was wanted alive for Naoki Shikijou, her cruel father. She stayed in the shadows of Osaka and picked the pockets of many until she earned enough for an airline to the country she could afford...Moscow of Russia.
________When she arrived in the Russian territory, she was lost at best when she meets a man who was actually promising her a tour around his favorite country. At the same time, the man before her was lost because he could not understand Japanese as Hanako cannot understand Russian. Like a secret threat by the man was made against her, Hanako scooted away by a few feet before bolting into the metropolis. There, she continued the habit of picking pockets for food from grocery stores. Eventually, she was spotted by police for trying to shoplift a candy bar that a kid secretly stashed in Hanako’s pocket so his mother would not scorn him. In a panic, she ran from the police and entered the alleyway where the police officers mysteriously disappeared in the pursuit. Hanako became curious as to what happened and learned that it was a large grotesque monster with a bleached boney head like a Halloween mask for a skeleton. It baffled and scared her at the same time and made it clear that Hanako has to leave Russia. She gathered her earnings and flew for the United States of America.
________In the United States, Hanako thought she would be safe with the crowd of immigrants and bigots, but she learned that one detail that concerned her...why oatmeal is more expensive in the United States than in Russia? She perfected the art of picking pockets and sticking to the shadow as she made it a living to steal money from passer-bys and using the money to feed herself. One old man caught her and told her to stop stealing and get a job; however Hanako does not understand English very well and ran off with the old man’s five dollar bill that he gave her. Like in Moscow, she encountered not one, but three of these monsters killing couples in a park. Seeing that these creatures are stalking her or worse, she could have been cursed to have destruction following her, Hanako took the next flight to London in the United Kingdom.
________Things are back to normal for Hanako as she picked up some English while picking pockets for a good meal in a pub. Strangely, the pub did not mind her as along she promised not to pick pockets in the pub. One day, she visited the pub to enjoy breakfast, but remembered it is her eighteenth birthday today. She looked around before frowning down upon her cup of coffee and an empty plate of pancakes. The proprietor of the pub talked to her about her problem and being friendly, the big guy set up a surprise for her while she was out picking pockets out of snobby teenagers whose fathers are rich. However, when she returned to the pub for dinner, she saw the pub eerily empty with a cake with a candle on the bar table. Filled with hope that the pub was going to surprise her, Hanako walked in and looked around with a smile on her face. No one answered and a void was in front of her. Something had happen and Hanako was not there to see it. She looked in the kitchen and no one was there; behind the bar and nothing; the building was abandoned peacefully while it is supposed to be open still at this hour.
________Hanako looked through the bar and found a booklet of matches that was brand new; probably for her birthday. Hanako struck a match and lit the candle over her cake. She wished for someone as loyal as a dog and would not leave her alone like Kimiko, Hikaru, and many more. “Happy birthday, big girl.” She whispered to herself before she blew out the candle. Sitting alone in a limbo pub, she pitifully savored the cake alone. While sarcastically enjoying her birthday, she heard noises behind her, yet she no longer cares. People are hurt or killed because she was around and Hanako believed it is better that the curse dies with her. The moment shifted as she heard six synchronized taps like three ninjas landed on the concrete with grace.
________She slowly looked and noticed three grown men dressed like samurais in black hakamas and real katanas. Each has a weird styling of their hair and they are up against ten, fifteen or even twenty of these monsters. The men made quick work killing the monsters while Hanako sat there like she seen a ghost. She could not believe the sight and it happened just before her eyes. One of the men noticed Hanako looking at them weirdly and suspected her being able to see them in their Shinigami form let alone seeing Hollows. “Empty pub, a girl eating her cake made with love and a candle sitting close by. A birthday for one?” The man asked with captain obvious expression. Hanako nodded with a sad look in her eyes. “The Hollows are acting weird, they are more coordinated than Captain Hitsugaya suspected.” The Shinigami looked at Hanako like she is the only one the Hollows could be after. They suggested that Hanako should be in Karakura Central, where more powerful people can help her. Before they could decide to “repair” her memory, Hanako was already gone with cake nearly gone and puddle of tears shining on the bar table.
________There she is, entering Karakura Central and her first place to visit was a music shop. Even though she is hunted by bounty hunters and monsters alike, she managed to elude capture many times before. She went scavenging for valuables and earned some, but spent little of it for a childish boy who referred himself as an Arrancar. She encountered a Vizard in a shop labeled, “Kisuke Urahara’s Shop,” but left her and her daughter behind to protect them from hardship. Eventually she came to a weapon shop; the place she bought her three weapons, a magnum, a pistol and a wakizashi before receiving special ammunition from a Quincy. Finally, on her way to a site of disaster, she met a man who looks like a dog with the ears and tail of black fur. Something was telling her that her sweet eighteen birthday wish was granted.
________The man she met was Koichi Iramasha, one of the elite guardians on Iramasha Island. With no heed paid to anything more important than the battle along the way, Hanako (with Koichi’s help) entered Fuma Park where the battle between various beings and two draconic beings. Humans around them are caught in the conflict; what will Hanako do? She told Koichi to gather the survivors and went after three important people, an old person, a mother with child and a man with the dog. Koichi went after the other survivors. Hanako injured herself when she was slammed against a lamppost along the way to the mother and child, but she recovered quickly and saved them. When she went after the man and the dog, Senorn, a Councilor of the Iramasha Clan spoken a threat to the two dragons, but Hanako mistaken it to be towards the man and the dog. So she pulled out her pistol and fired a distracting shot at Senorn. Chaos ensued as Koichi scrambled to protect Hanako while Yoko, one of the fighters against the two real enemies came to Hanako. Both of them said the same thing, “What were you thinking!? Don’t shoot him!” But it was too late, but Senorn dodged it and forgave her after hearing Koichi plea.
________As the chaos settles with the two dragons succumbing to defeat, one dragon left and the other stayed as Hanako continued to check on the man with the dog. However the dog turns out to be a mutant and went to attack the survivors while the man kidnapped Hanako using a knock out agent. Hanako woke up in a luxurious car while chained to the seat by the man who turns out to be a bounty hunter working for Naoki Shikijou, her father. Along the way to Osaka, Koichi interfered by ripping the roof off and Senorn’s clone was with Koichi. The bounty hunter tried to make a bargain, but Koichi rescued Hanako by teleporting her out of her bondage and onto a truck trailer. Seeing no talking out of the danger, the bounty hunter eluded the clone’s chaos blast, but sets off a bomb in the car during his escape. The clone was destroyed and the explosion caused a mass chaos in the skyway. Koichi rescued Hanako again by getting out of the skyway and into the sky itself. After the whole incident, Koichi chose to teleport to the Iramasha Island with Hanako to keep her safe.
________After arriving to the Iramasha Island, Hanako found herself in Koichi’s arms and was let down onto her feet. Judging by her surrounding, she was at the park as both she and Koichi spotted a man with silver hair and a flamboyantly dressed woman. Koichi introduced them as Toki Iramasha and Tina Iramasha and left her to talk to them. However, Toki came to her and told her, “Your wish has been granted, but you will do the rest yourself. The first challenge will appear while you linger here.” Hanako was surprised to learn that Tina, the one Toki told her as the one who sent the message to her, was the one who granted her wish. It is (however) was bittersweet as she finds herself arrested and taken to jail for the crime forgiven by Senorn...assaulting him with her distracting shot.
________Hanako sat in her cell as she waited for her trial to come up. However, she believed Koichi would come for her, even if she went to the jail willingly. Like a dog that could never understand the word, “no,” Hanako knew that Koichi cannot be reasoned when separated from her. She rested throughout the day and it is until that night. A troll came as the Jail Keeper and tried to kill her for having accomplices trying to bail her out. Hanako’s reflex was quick enough to evade the attack and get out the cell before the troll readied himself for another attack. Down the corridor, Hanako was chased and she ran into Koichi and that cat that brought her guns to the woman who called for the arrest. Seeing the fight will get complicated if she stayed, she ran, knowing that Koichi can fight harder without her getting in the way. She also ran into her captor, Toki Iramasha, but he was busy with one of the denizens of the jail, so Hanako escaped capture this time. When she left the jail, the same woman as before opened a portal in front of Hanako. Unable to cease her momentum, Hanako stumbled into the portal and she was followed.
________Everything went by so quickly and Hanako was caught up in the situation. She flew out of the portal, smashed through the paper door, tossed like a cotton doll by a Minotaur before being saved by a terrorist and a humble merchant*. After the incident, Hanako was already knocked out from hitting her head hard against the ground. She was cared for by Tessai* and during her recovery, she experienced a terrible dream. When she woke up, she felt lightheaded and was greeted by the humble merchant. Something was missing and Hanako instantly recognized him as “Papa,” which did catch the merchant off-guard. She now works for her “father” as a weekday candy girl who advertises his shop and sells his candy in a basket in Karakura City; her day-offs are usually on Saturday. As for the terrorist...he was hired to be her bodyguard, believing that eventually, he and his destiny will cross paths.
________After weeks of getting used to her new life as Yoruichi Shihouin*’s daughter, Hanako Shihouin roamed through the Karakura Forest and find herself lost. She stumbled upon a grassy plain with a lake and a temple tower in the middle of it. She went to the temple to be sheltered for the night. She discovered rare flowers that she never seen before and a feeling that she would want to come back to each week. So she did and discovered a spirit who taught her the abilities that she did not know about. Each visit granted her more clues about who she is and eventually, she learned the tricks of her powers and felt ready. In actuality, she still has a lot to prepare for.

"I took roleplaying and storytelling with a live-and-let-live attitude, thus the idea of a character doing something out-of-character would add more to the character than letting it stagnate into an archetype or a character. Here: A rapid change to a character must be met with an in-the-moment conflict. Ta-da! A rule to live by!"
