THE QUINCY APPLICATION
I. Basic Information
» Name: Aarix Gewaud
» Alias: The Resonator
» Age: 23
» Gender: Male
» Association: Vandereich
» Appearance Image:
I. Personality
» Personality: Aarix is a generally sombre individual, caring but not outgoing or outstanding in any notable way. He prefers spending time at home rather than out with friends, and even of the time at home he prefers spending it with his parents. When not training his Gebet or, begrudgingly, his Kreuzen, he can be found caring for the rather large garden that sits out the back of his home. He isn't often one to take action against anyone, even those that have wronged him, and instead prefers to simply disengage entirely from the situation and attempt to be anywhere else.
In instances where he is not able or allowed to leave, he will do his best to ignore the situation until his hand is forced at which point he is more often prone to respond using Gebet in such a way to allow him to leave or incapacitate the offender(s). Failing that, he is not above using the meek Spirit Weapon that he does have while he prepares more Gebet.
I. History
» History: Aarix Gewaud was born in Karakura Town. From an early age, Aarix displayed an interest in the the Quincy arts. However, despite his deep admiration for the Quincy, Aarix was born without the ability to perform any Quincy-related techniques or powers.
As a child, Aarix spent countless hours studying Quincy history, their techniques, and the tales of their past heroes. He would immerse himself in books and online forums, seeking to understand the intricacies of their abilities and the philosophies that guided their actions. Despite his limitations, Aarix’s knowledge about Quincy history and lore began too surpassed many of his peers.
Despite lacking any inherent Quincy abilities, Aarix’s passion for the Quincy way of life remained undiminished. He believed that the essence of being a Quincy was not solely tied to supernatural powers but encompassed a set of principles and values that one could uphold regardless of their own capabilities. Aarix dedicated himself to embodying those principles, too becoming a paragon of Quincy virtues such as duty, discipline, and honor.
Aarix’s thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a degree in spiritual studies at the prestigious Karakura Town University. He immersed himself in the academic world, delving deep into the study of spiritual phenomena and the history of the Quincy. Aarix became known for his extensive research papers and insightful analyses, often shedding light on obscure Quincy legends and overlooked aspects of their culture.
Though Aarix lacked the powers of a Quincy, he still actively sought ways to support and assist the Quincy community. He volunteered his time at the local Quincy headquarters, offering administrative assistance, organizing training sessions, and providing moral support to Quincy warriors who were honing their abilities. His unwavering dedication and positive spirit earned her respect and admiration from Quincy members and leaders alike.
Despite facing occasional ridicule and skepticism from those who believed that a Quincy without powers was inconsequential, Aarix remained resolute. He refused to let her limitations define his worth or contribution to the Quincy cause. Aarix firmly believed that his deep understanding of Quincy history and philosophy could offer valuable insights, and help guide the Quincy community toward a brighter future.
I. Natural Abilities
» Natural Abilities:
Novice Archery – As a Quincy, he was expected to be able to use and form a spirit weapon and with both of his parents having a bow, they had begun training him in Archery. Despite not being able to form a weapon, he has learned the basics of how to utilize a bow.
I. Racial Abilities
» Racial Abilities:
Power Bestowment - Said to be the rarest of traits amongst Quincy, Aarix has the ability to give away his capabilities to others, though he currently has no knowledge he is doing this. Through direct physical contact, a portion of Aarix's soul is transferred to the individual he is in contact with, this is a process that happens automatically and has no known indications at this time. Once bestowed, the recipient gains a single skill level increase to a either Blut, Gebet, Kreuzen, or Steigen (chosen OOC by the recipient). The skill level is considered a temporary boost unless the individual has increased that skill beyond Elite by the time Aarix reclaims their fragment and counts as a training improvement. Should Aarix reclaim the fragment before the individual has increased it beyond Elite, their skill will decrease by 1 rank (I.E. Elite -> Advanced). Additionally, Aarix's correlating skill will increase by 1 rank (I.E. Beginner -> Adept), unless that individual has trained that skill beyond Elite, in which case Aarix's correlating skill will increase by 2 ranks (I.E. Beginner -> Advanced).
LIMITATIONS
This cannot increase a skill beyond Elite.
Aarix can currently only "loan" out 4 fragments.
Physical Contact must happen between Aarix and the individual in question.
Aarix currently has no way of retrieving this portion of power from the individual who takes a part of it.
BENEFITS
When the transfer takes place, the recipient increases either Blut, Gebet, Kreuzen, or Steigen by one rank up to a maximum of Elite.
If Aarix becomes capable of retrieving this fragment, he will increase that specific skill by half of the total ranks gained by the individual who had his fragment rounded down. EXAMPLE: If they took it for Blut and trained their Blut two ranks, Aarix would increase his Blut by 1 rank. Or if they gained 3, he would still only increase it by 1.

Says he does not have a quincy release despite the application having a quincy release on it.
» Abilities
Resonanz: This should be attached to his vollstandig, not his natural abilities. This is also not actually reflective of the quincy racial trait mentioned in the racial spec. This ability is just a support/tuning ability. The racial spec is actual bestowal of the quincy's own powers onto another with a permanent detriment to themselves by not having access to that until such a time they get it back, if they ever do get it back.
Additionally, please attach a better metric than a flat 1/8 boost whether that is more unique expressions of buffing those around him or just better number scaling. 1/8 of 300% is not a full number.
Gebet: Please add more justification for Advanced Gebet or lower it. At this stage he is doing rituals, likely has his own gintou and so on but there is nothing here to actually justify that beyond his mother being good at it which is more justifying her than him.
Blut: It should be noted that blut has more individualized applications and effects per quincy at the levels beyond beginner, and that his blut should likely reflect that in the ability description.
» Skills
His martial skill should not be untrained given the fact he has some level of competence with archery. Beginner would be more apt.[/adm]

Alright I've made some rather substantial overhauls to the application.
First) I have significantly expanded his history to include his training in Gebet up to, and including, Grade III spells as well as two custom rituals he created.
Second) I have added a trait under Racial Trait called Power Bestowal and attempted to make it more in line with what seems to be the intent of the Power Bestowal trait in the Quincy Racial Information.
Third) Resonanz has been removed and replaced with Göttlicher Befehl instead.
Fourth) I increased strength to Beginner since he does have some training with a bow, and bows do require at least a decent amount of strength to properly utilize. As well as increased a few other Skills slightly.
Fifth) Licht König’s Apex is no longer a forced activation upon other Quincy activations, and now has its own proper appearance.
Sixth) I added a description of what his Blut's are able to perform that would be unique to him.

Power Bestowal Quincies are not capable of training their powers, especially since fragments of their power are given to others even before they are aware of this trait. Aarix would not be capable of manipulating reishi, forming blut, casting spellcraft, or even forming a weapon without taking the fragments he unintentionally gave to others back after some time. Any and all training mentioned in this history would as a result, not be productive to his growth or form results.
On top of that, this doesn't function well as a history. It's been entirely taken over by the need to justify his spellcraft as opposed to writing your character's notable experiences and life over the passage of time, leading up to now. With all of this in mind, you need to adjust your history to account for both how Power Bestowal works, and it's function as a history.
» Power Bestowal
This ability's mechanics just don't work with our site's systems, half skills don't exist and can't exist, alongside Aarix being described to not even be aware he's doing this still. It's an unnecessarily overcomplicated take of the skill system, not to mention unbalanced in several other aspects such as not specifying how he regains these fragments. Does he have to touch them? Be near them? He can't just sap power from people anywhere at any time with no limitation.
He wouldn't be able to take people's Master or Grand Master stats, which by this ability's description would imply he could.
Overall, the limits and abilities of this power are both too much and incredibly unfocused and all over the place. This ability needs to be completely rethought and it's projected reach seriously reduced.
» Leuchtendes Leuchtfeuer
Quincy cannot Konso or perform Konso-like abilities. The crux of the conflict with them as a race with the Shinigami is the fact they are incapable of purifying hollows. Aarix is in no realm to be capable of doing anything like this, something even the most skilled practitioners of spellcraft have never been noted to be capable of.
» Phantomfaden
The utility of this ability is very unclear, what is it manipulating? One's ability to manipulate reishi is tied to their Spirit Class, a spell isn't going to do much for that.
» Göttlicher Befehl
This is just straight up spiritual mind control with no restraints, required consent, or ability to counter apart from a Willpower check. Not to mention the 'royalty' thematic kind of comes out of nowhere, nothing about his character or prior abilities seem linked to this.[/adm]

Is the power he gives to someone permanent, or does he take back the rank he gave them? Does that rank count as one of the ranks in terms of their training? How many of these pieces of his power can he distribute at any one time?[/adm]

Added the following to Power Bestowal
"The skill level is considered a temporary boost unless the individual has increased that skill beyond Elite by the time Aarix reclaims their fragment and counts as a training improvement. Beginner -> Advanced)."
As well as another limitation:
"Aarix can currently only "loan" out 4 fragments."

[mod]Yo,
After a great deal of discussion amongst the staff team in regards to this application; the basis of the character, what is wanted from the character by the creator, and the handling of the character's powers. I'm going to explain some of the conclusions that came from these discussions between staff.
The basis of this character as understood by the staff team, and has been stated by you, is power bestowal. So much that you have stated that it is the entire reason for this character, and that without the attribute this character isn't one you want to play otherwise. When asked why you overhauled the entire application after the first check, which only required minor adjustments, and it was explained that the first draft did not encompass power bestowal. So to our understanding power bestowal is the only thing that you want out of this character as his creator.
This sets a precedent that this character is being made solely out of desire to be grab at something that is considered a rare trait in the same vein as one might want to make a Vasto Lorde Arrancar as an example but the character's identity is one dimensional because this attribute is essentially the character itself to the point you have adjusted entire fundamentals of the character around just having this trait. It is a precedent that doesn't instil a great deal of confidence among staff based on where your priorities with this character lie.
We return to the power bestowal trait now, which was not cut from the Quincy despite being introduced in Thousand Year Blood War due to agreement amongst staff that it may prove beneficial to incorporate into the Quincy race and provide narrative pathways for them to pursue.
That said, we move onto its handling. The key word of my statement about power bestowal is narrative. We did not create power bestowal with the intention for it to be mechanically intense, or really anything more than something that could be used to progress a story someone wanted to flesh out. Over the course of this grading the attempts to adhere to your vision of what you want power bestowal to be and the mechanics of it has proven to be difficult to reconcile with the systems we utilise on the site.
So to summarise. The understanding that having power bestowal is more important than this character is and the difficulties in adapting this vision of the attribute into site systems, we would prefer to reject Aarix having power bestowal.
While I am sure this is disappointing, we do encourage you to continue with Aarix but in a manner which does not make this character an accessory to just being a Quincy with a rare racial trait.[/mod]
