2023 Q1 Combat Thread of the Season Nominations
Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:20 am
COMBAT THREAD OF THE SEASON
I. What's OTS?
Here, we go back over the last three months and pick out different finalists to discern who was the best of the season in certain categories. These nominations, in particular, are for December 2022, and January and February of 2023.
This particular OTS category is for the Combat Thread of the Season. Nominate the combat thread that got your blood pumping, felt like it had some serious stakes, or just in general made you feel like there was a real good fight going down.
II. OTS Rules
1. Each member can only submit one nomination per category, so think hard on it.
2. Make sure you name the actual members relevant to your nomination.
3. Please include a link to your nomination.
4. DO NOT NOMINATE YOURSELF.
These nominations will close after 1 week!

Nominating There Can Only Be One - a very well executed fight for captaincy between Kanae and Arkin. It was a really fun fight to read, both character's personalities and dynamics really came out in their interaction as the two fought. A common gripe of mine with combat threads, especially of this importance, is that the combatants are either way too focused on pushing moves out to the point I have no idea what's going through their heads, or the dialogue and thoughts just feel weirdly forced and out of character; neither were an issue here.
Have fun with that captaincy, murder woman.

Wrestling With Luchadors is my nomination here, because I think it stands out as a very entertaining and very outside-the-box fight thread. The character interactions between Sola and Amaranta are a joy to read considering how well they bounce off of each other, and the actual culmination and conclusion of the fight is remarkably funny.

Seaside Fight Night: Fuuen vs Kokuto
It certainly wasn't the longest fight thread but it's one of my favourite. It's nicely paced, the two play off each other very well. They have a level of respect towards each other in the fight and showcase some cool moves. Fuuen's very chuuni and flowery whereas Kokuto is doing very practical and simple things. It's a nice parallel and contrast and so I think I'll nominate it for combat thread of the season.
