APPLICATION OF THE SEASON

I. What's OTS?

Here, we go back over the last three months and pick out different finalists to discern who was the best of the season in certain categories. These nominations, in particular, are for December 2022, and January and February of 2023.

This particular OTS category is for the Application of the Season. Nominate the character app that you think was a stellar example of how to put forward a character submission on PH. Whether that be for its themes, its abilities, its history, or everything put together, this should be a shining example of how to submit a character.

II. OTS Rules

1. Each member can only submit one nomination per category, so think hard on it.
2. Make sure you name the actual members relevant to your nomination.
3. Please include a link to your nomination.
4. DO NOT NOMINATE YOURSELF.

2023 OF THE SEASON VOL. 1

I am nominating Kanae Nagoshi for Application of the Season because I was thoroughly impressed with this character concept and writing of this application. The moment I read this application, I was intrigued about plots with this character and quickly aware of the impact this character will have on site. To have just reading the application conjure excitement for her approval speaks volumes for how well Paradigm designed Kanae.

My nomination is Johann Arant. Thematically, I think there's a very consistent throughline in this app that really shines through. Everything about the application very consistently gives the impression of a character whose losses weigh on him, and his abilities are not only interesting, but do well to compliment his more melancholic personality when taken as a whole application.

Overall, a very well-written application, that conveys a good deal about the character and is filled with good ideas.

I'm going to nominate our boy Cookies for this one. As someone who had zero expectation for Cookies to ever return to us as an active member, and then to come swinging in Janurary with Fu Shou you know that Cookies is getting a nomination. This isn't just about Cookies though and the shock to the site of his return.

I like her simplicity, she says everything that she needs to say while having a compelling presentation of it. Her theme is strong and I really like the angle of her powerset, even though it's broadly a magic system the way that economics are incorporated give it a strong core identity. Let's not even mention the fact that it's a Cookies power which didn't involve me having to go research atomic physics so that's always a welcome thing lmao. Anyway welcome back Cookies and cool app.

I'm gonna nominate Toki, because despite the odds stacked against him, and the comparisons to his father, he turned out to be a great guy and I can see a lot of potential in his character from there on. His love for his mom is absolutely adorable, by the way, god I can't help but love his appreciation for her it's so sweet.
