Hinamori Momo

Placid:

Hinamori has always been a gentle sort of soul. In her day to day life when she was still a shino student, she greeted every morning with a warm smile and a joyous attitude. Over time, particularly following the betrayal of Sosuke Aizen, she lost some of that carefree joy that once made her glow. But in it’s wake she has found a calmer form of serenity. Rather than facing each day assured that it will hold nothing but happiness for her, she carries herself with an understanding grace. Every day may hold happiness or sorrow, but another day will follow in it’s wake to give something new.

More recently, she has a slightly subdued energy but retains the supportive and friendly nature that she has always maintained.

Curious:

Hinamori has always been somewhat nosy. Inquiring into the lives of her friends and even those she works with closely she can’t help but be curious about the going-ons of those around her. That curiosity served her well in her time at the Shino Academy, and to this day she has an abundant energy to put toward things that garner her interest.

Determined:

Even in the days past when Momo was a young and innocent girl in the Shino Academy, focus and determination have been gifts she’s managed to garner ever since a botched training exercise during her time at the academy. Inspired by the willingness of her classmates to face danger, Hinamori has always cherished that memory and carried it with her. In times of considerable peril, or even when the world seemed to stop making sense, Hinamori continued to act as best she could manage. And while she had struggled along the way, she has never lacked the will to take up her sword and act.




Hinamori started her life in the soul society as a citizen of the Rukongai in the First District closest to the Soul Society. Because of this, she lived a happy, comfortable life and was well cared for. Despite this, Hinamori showed potential for spiritual abilities and thus was enrolled in the Shino academy. As a student, Hinamori showed considerable proficiency with Kido among her peers and following an incident during a training exercise, became very close with several other teammates involved in the incident. It was at this time that she was introduced to Aizen Sosuke and Gin Ichimaru, Captain and Lieutenant of Squad Five at the time.

It was at this time that Hinamori found something to admire. Captain Aizen’s effortless finesse and seemingly caring demeanor had a deep effect on Momo as she and her friends were rescued by the team. It was at that point that Hinamori decided that she would dedicate herself to serving under the man who had saved her and her friends.

Over the next several years, Hinamori put forth considerable effort into her training as a shinigami. Graduating from the academy and earning a spot in Squad Five. And once Lieutenant Ichimaru became a Captain, Hinamori worked her way to the position of Lieutenant of the Division working directly under Aizen himself. To the designs of Aizen, this time as a Lieutenant would feel like Hinamori’s happiest days in her life. Up until the Ryoka Invasion.

Upon the intrusion of Ichigo Kurosaki and company into the Sereitei in order to Rescue Rukia Kuchiki, Aizen was purportedly murdered and the soul society was thrown into chaos. It was during this time that Hinamori was manipulated by her Captain (Whom had staged his death) to create further conflict within the Gotei. Hinamori initially blamed Ichimaru Gin for the death of her Captain, resulting in her assaulting the man upon the discovery of Aizen’s “Body” and resulting in her arrest.

Amidst the chaos, Hinamori would receive a letter from her Captain from Lieutenant Matsumoto, which framed Toshiro Hitsugaya as Aizen’s killer. Hinamori broke out of prison, and then assaulted her Friend, though this too would turn out to be another deception. Hinamori was detained, and then escaped from imprisonment a second time to follow Hitsugaya and Matsumoto into Central 46 chambers where she discovers her Captain alive. After being lured into the man’s embrace, she was promptly stabbed and left for dead in the Central Chambers where she remained out of commission for the remainder of the conflict.

When the dust had settled, Hinamori found herself lost and conflicted. Her own deep-seated feelings for Aizen clash with the man’s betrayal and new role as an enemy of the Soul Society. The man she had held above all else was a fake and a fraud. As a result, she was barred from participating in combat operations during the Winter War, and at it’s conclusion, Aizen met his demise.

But she was not blessed with time to mourn and come to terms with these feelings. By the time of Aizen’s defeat and death, Hinamori discovered that she was pregnant as a result of te Night she had spent with her Captain prior to him faking his death., and seven months after the war’s conclusion, she gave birth to her son. Toki.

It was at this point that Hinamor took Maternity leave from the Gotei and was relieved of her position as Lieutenant. And yet, in the time when her life made the least sense, she still somehow found happiness. There were many things she didn’t, and would never understand about the father of her child. And yet, looking at her Son, it suddenly mattered so much less. Aizen had left so much to waste in her heart, and Toki was the perfect distraction. She threw herself into parenthood and Toki became everything in her world.

Fear. Uncertainty. Betrayal. None of that mattered. She had to be strong for her son, and so that’s what she set out to do. Not only raising her child, but building herself back up in the process. Given the pedigree of the child, there was not even a sliver of doubt in her mind that Toki would wind up spiritually gifted and at the very least: Capable of becoming a shinigami. As she raised her child, she slowly worked on her own confidence and skills. She began to train with what little spare time she had. Adjusting over time as she learned to balance raising Toki, training, and getting enough rest to ensure that she could still be the best mother he could ever ask for.

By the time that Toki had grown old enough and began to show signs of spiritual talent, Hinamori was ready to support him. She signed up to be a Kido instructor at the Shino academy, and put much of her time and effort into her position as a teacher even with the advent of the demon conflicts and World War Four. And now, with Toki grown and joining the Gotei, she decided to reenlist. Intent on serving as an example for her son. But perhaps more importantly, she intended to fulfill the dreams she had once had when she had first enrolled in the academy over a hundred years ago:

To be a Shinigami.
Not for some idol on a pedestal.
But because she WANTED to be one.




Fierce Determination:
Hinamori has an incredibly strong will. Attacking opponents far stronger than herself, escaping from prison, and her exemplary performance as a member of the Gotei in order to achieve her goals garnered in the Academy. While Hinamori is not immune to deception, she has never had a lack of willpower to accomplish what she believes is right at the time, even in times when those goals pit her against figures of authority, superior strength, or even cherished friends. No matter how much it hurts, Hinamori WILL do what she must.

Fierce Spiritual Energy:
As a former Lieutenant of the gotei and having specialized in the use of Kido, Hinamori has considerable spirit energy reserves and that has only grown over the last hundred years.







» Racial Abilities:

Kido Master:
Hinamori has always been an Expert in the Shinigami Arts, but most notable is her proficiency with Kido. From her time as a student in the academy, to her time as a Lieutenant in the Gotei 13. Hinamori had a mastery over kido that surpassed most of her peers. Having broken out of incarceration several times using her Kido Prowess, and having embraced the shinigami art and looked to further her expertise in the last hundred years. Hinamori is notable in her ability to effortlessly meld and mix the effects of Kido and perform combinations that surpass the expectations of even those who have been a shinigami longer than her. Making her a considerable threat even with low level kido spells.

Kido Melding:
Hinamori specializes in the fusion and mixing of Kido Elements while in combat. While in her hayday she was capable of mixing low level kido on the fly, her prowess with this particular talent has only grown in recent years. While most shinigami who specialize in Kido can mesh two kido together given enough mastery, Hinamori is more than capable of fusing and molding four or more kido spells into a unique combination on the fly.




» Zanpakutô Name: Tobiume (飛梅, Flying Plum Tree

» Zanpakutô Spirit Appearance: Hinamori’s Zanpaku’to spirit takes the form of a massive Black-Tailed Gull with dull embers at the tips of it’s feathers.

» Inner World: Hinamori’s inner world is a massive island. On one side, a glittering ocean, and on the other, a dark void as the ocean seems to drop out as if nestled on the very edge of the world. The island itself is wreathed in greenery, a fruitful jewel balanced on a perilous edge.


» Zanpakutô Appearance: Hinamori’s Zanaku’to takes the form of a fairly regular Katana. It’s handle is bound in light-red cloth and her guard takes on a rectangle shape decorated with flower designs.

» Sealed Zanpakutô Power:

Tobiume has no sealed abilities.






» Shikai Release Phrase: Snap (弾け, hajike)

» Shikai Release Action: Tobiume’s release is simply predicated by saying it’s name while the weapon is held.

» Shikai Appearance: Tobiume’s blade straightens out and becomes more like a double-edged short sword than a katana. Additionally, three small angular protrusions similar to a Jutte emerge along it’s length.

» Shikai Abilities:

Hibanachiru 火花散る (Fireflower Scatter)

Tobiume distributes small embers of flame which settle and fade to a dull glow where they land. The most common means of distribution is through the swinging of Tobiume or by launching balls of flame which then explode into these small embers.

Suzakunegura 朱雀塒 (Vermillion Bird Roost)

The embers scattered by Hibanachiru flare up and take flight, igniting nearby surfaces, creating a swirling firestorm around the area seeded by hibanachiru’s embers. These firestorms can grow enormous depending on the distribution of embers up to a maximum radius of 80 meters. Hinamori can control and direct the motions of these embers at speeds scaling with her Zanjutsu skill.

This technique is named because the embers rising from the ground warp and flicker in a way that resembles a mass of bright red birds taking flight.

It all was going by rather quickly. Her Unlike some of the other Teachers that were taking the time to rejoin the Gotei, Hinamori had decided not to pull herself from her position as an instructor in the Shino Academy, and she still smiled to herself as she recalled the looks on her student’s faces wen she’d addressed concerns that she would no longer be teaching. Admittedly she would likely have fewer classes, but she would still be there for them. It was hardly as if the Academy were filled with nothing but children, but…

Hinamori felt as though she would be lying if she claimed not to feel somewhat protective of her students. She had watched class after class of Academy Members grow, prosper, and then join the Gotei. The gotei Thirteen. The Gotei United. So much had changed since she had left, while there was a Squad Five, it wasn’t the place she remembered, and even more it was hardly the squad she felt would fit her. No, she’d set her sights on the Second Division.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help but take a slow, steady breath and smile. And for a moment, her eyes shifted to the side. Looking at a small box which had been in her office. A box she had not opened in almost a hundred years. One containing the tie which had once held her hair up in that bun she had worn. A gift from a man who seemed almost like a dream…. or a nightmare. Lingering and yet…. so distant and hard to fully remember in full.

A hundred years was a very long time. And the decades had slowly worn that nightmare down. And the box remained. A reminder to herself.

She reached past the box and took a different hair tie, pulling her hair back and finally binding it into a bun as she cast her eyes to the mirror in front of her and put on a calm smile. One that looked so very different from the big giddy grin with which she had once looked at in the mirror when she had joined the Fifth Division.

She picked up her Zanpaku’to and let out a steady breath.
”Good luck, Momo.” She noted to herself, before she turned and headed out for the Second Division Offices.
