» Why: Lerna has been training extensively and in active combat for most of her time on Site, which has gotten to be quite a while now. Relentlessly training, sparring, slaying hollows, and keeping up with her classwork as a Shino Academy Student.
Her combat experience in general has also increased considerably. Her utilization of Shunpo is pretty much constant, and she frequently utilizes her speed and flash steps in her fighting style.
Even her Zanpaku'to has come to be integrated into her general fighting style in and outside of her released state thanks to her unique relationship with her Zanpaku'to (Being that her Zan spirit is the remaining 7 heads of her original body). Having unlocked her Shikai back in February, Lerna has not only been consistently utilizing her zanpaku'to, but also growing her relationship with it, at a considerable rate thanks to her unique relationship with the weapon and has begun attempting to manifest the spirit in order to attain a further level of Release.

But beyond JUST her own normal combat capabilities having increased. But MOST importantly, has been her reliance on durability.
Lerna has endured incredibly punishment straight out from day one. From the damage sustained in general fights, tanking hits, and even getting immolated by Big Kasha. Examples of Lerna taking punishment are NUMEROUS and extensive. And Frankly, durability is an absolute hallmark of Lerna's fighting style. Tanking obscene amounts of damage using both her Root Shell, as well as her general lack of concern for damage to her body to her advantage in fights.
