A hard worker through and through, Oboro gives everything she does 110%, if not even more. While she isn’t necessarily the most intelligent or competent in every field, Oboro makes up for this lack of ability with an earnest belief in herself and a desire to do her best. This doesn’t necessarily manifest as a cheery optimism, but rather a driven professionalism, a sense that she ought to be doing everything that she can. This drive can often lead Oboro to drive herself to exhaustion or, in some cases, to get herself in way over her head, simply because she will put herself into situations she is unilaterally not capable of handling because she feels that she really definitely should. Stopping her from getting caught in these situations is fairly difficult, and despite her insistence on obeying the chain of command and listening to those she works for, she tends to let any insistence that she calm down go over her head, treating it mostly as a needless worry.

Despite her insistence that she is an exceptional servant, Oboro is in fact rather lacking in any particularly “subservient” traits. It would be easiest to say that she is simply so headstrong that she isn’t willing to accept that her own chosen career is ill-fitting to her personality, and so while she is extremely independent, she is adamant in her work as a helpful and team-oriented person. She will host parties for her division, ensure everyone’s tea is always filled during the workday, and in general, those in her division certainly notice a great many little things done through the day that nobody takes any credit for. Despite her self-confidence, Oboro doesn’t really do what she does for any prestige or praise. She does it just because that’s what she does, and she wants to be the best at it.



The Mousawa family has, for as long as anyone can remember, served the Sawachika family dutifully as household servants and retainers. Unlike many family retainers, however, it is extremely rare to actually see a Sawachika alongside any member of the Mousawa family, and there are many whispers that the Mousawa have little actual dedication to the Sawachika. This could not be further from the truth, however. The Mousawa family have simply always been a subtle, quiet family, dark and obscure in contrast to the brilliance of the Sawachika. Rather than operating next to the Sawachika directly, they work in the shadows to make the lives of the Sawachika more comfortable, more convenient, and generally more pleasant. The Sawachika, in turn, provide the Mousawa with a lavish home within the Sawachika estate, and pay for the entirety of their living expenses. It is a fruitful and beneficial relationship, and neither side has ever desired that it come to an end any time soon.

Oboro is the third daughter of the current Mousawa family head, and has spent most of her youth idolizing the mentality of the Sawachika family. Respect for them is not particularly uncommon, due to their position and the general mentality of the Mousawa family, but Oboro’s adoration has tended to bleed into her work in a way that some of the Mousawa have always considered odd. Her earliest days of training were always marked with loud greetings, and throughout her childhood she seemed to take a great shine to Lord Sawachika, and even moreso to his daughter Nao. While the Sawachika family considered her energy quite endearing, and saw no issue with it, the Mousawa nevertheless consider it a bit suboptimal for a member of their family, and while they don’t consider it shameful by any stretch, they do nevertheless consider her in need of more practical experience, outside the Sawachika estate.

Sending her to the Gotei, the Mousawa have hoped that her time working in the Stealth Force will temper her rambunctious spirit, at least to a degree that she can work a bit more subtly. Whether or not that is actually the case remains to be seen, however. She has been there for roughly 4 years now, and while she has hardly embarrassed her family or anything of the sort, one could also never possibly say she’s quieted down, either. Nevertheless, she has served as a fairly upstanding model of a typical Stealth Force member, and while she would likely be fitting as a Seated Officer, she has at no point requested a promotion, and seems to brush off any suggestions that she apply.



○ Mousawa-ryu Senju Ninpo (朦沢流 濳従忍法): The Mousawa Style Hidden Servant Ninja Arts, these techniques are a rather extreme break from what would be called typical ninjutsu. Rather than focusing on obscured strikes, traps, or other deceitful attacks, those trained in Mousawa-ryu focus on providing their allies with weapons, beneficial spells, and other general aid while remaining so obscured that even the person being assisted may not realize that they are receiving aid. Naturally, sometimes this aid requires that Oboro attack an opponent, and it should never be assumed that she is incapable of engaging in a fight, but that is not the primary intention of Mousawa-ryu. For example, while Oboro is perfectly capable of attacking an opponent from behind while they are distracted by her allies, Mousawa-ryu is much more inclined to swiftly and suddenly cast a binding bakudo on an opponent who has yet to notice the practitioner, allowing a more properly combat-oriented ally to take advantage of it.

Most impressive, however, is the ability of any Mousawa-ryu practitioner to leave helpful equipment precisely where it needs to be for a partner in combat, and to ensure that those they assist do not lose any necessary items in order to operate at their best. If Oboro is in a thread fighting alongside someone else, she may utilize Mousawa-ryu Ninpo twice per thread to move in such subtle ways that she can leave an object precisely where her ally would need, without notice. It should be noted that, while an opponent can sense her movement so long as their Hoho skill is equal to or higher than her own, they cannot realize the true purpose of it unless their Mental Deduction is also equal to or higher than Oboro’s hoho. It will, in the event that their Mental Deduction is insufficient, simply seem that Oboro is utilizing shunpo to reposition and look for an opening. Upon having done this, her ally may simply “find” the item whenever is most convenient for them.
