Too Much Energy [Moe, Nao]

There was always work to be done around this place! Nao loved getting off after a hard day, it really worked up a sweat when you were doing heavy lifting and construction all day but after a nice hot bath and getting cleaned up she had the afternoon for herself.

"Right! What's on the menu?"

She said speaking to herself and startling the people around her going about their business. You could always count on talking to yourself since Nao knew that someone smart would answer back to her. She jumped right onto what she wanted to do.

A nice little spot to go through kata with her spear. She was the God Spear Nao after all! Mastery of her naginata was something she wanted to do and so she went through the motions.

Still garbed in her Shinigami uniform, which was a little oversized for her small frame, Moe was wandering through the Seireitei when she took notice of the other girl talking to herself. She stopped, standing in place with her zanpakuto resting on her shoulder, as she mused about what exactly to do. Then she started waving that spear around, looking like she could handle herself well too, so Moe made the decision to approach.

"Hey! That weapon looks pretty neat. Ya wanna give it a spin on something other than the air?"

Moe puffed out her chest a little, trying to look bigger and tougher than she was. It wasn't all that impressive but she was working on it, and it at least made her appear just a little taller than Nao. Maybe by half an inch. This was hardly the usual place for a scrap but she doubted anyone would mind. Besides, if they did then they could take it up with her and she'd put them in their place too.

"Huh? You wanna challenge the God Spear Nao?"

The busty redhead said and puffed her chest out just as much, the naginata over her shoulder while she gave a big grin. This girl must be pretty confident to challenge her but not many probably knew of her legendary status which she gave herself.

"I accept. You challenge Sawachika Nao, what's ya name?"

She didn't want for any kind of agreement about whether she was challenging her or not. Now it was the Sawachika that was challenging Moe.

"The God Spear, huh? That's a cool little title, Nao."

Moe's chest deflated a little as she saw how poorly she compared to Nao in that department, but her spirit was not so easily outmatched. Her smile grew to compensate for that deficiency, stretching nice and wide as she wondered how exactly one earned the title 'God Spear'. Still, she had accepted, so they were going to throw down.

"You face Machihara Moe. The.." There was a pause as she tried to find something badass to say, running through a few options in her head. "The Rising Star of the Fourth Division!"

Hauling her sword off her shoulder, it was almost impressive that she could even keep it upright when she held it in both her hands. But she dropped into a ready stance and invited her opponent to make the first move. That was the right of the challenged party, to strike first.

"Ya got some big guts to wield somethin' like that, Rising Star!"

Nao declared while eager to jump into it. She'd show her that big and cumbersome didn't get you everywhere. She flicked her spear off her shoulder and spun it around a few times to showboat then like lightning she advanced and struck.

The redhead's spear shot towards her opponent's chest but she had used the base of it and kept the blade away. It wasn't exactly clear why and maybe Moe would think that she was intending to thump her with the blunt end to avoid cutting the girl. Nao however just wanted to knock her back with a bit of force and send her a couple metres back if she could.

Moe didn't quite know what she was getting into, throwing out random challenges to people she met on the street, but at least she knew not to underestimate them. Especially not someone that went around calling themselves the God Spear or whatever. So, when she started waving that pole around like it was a cheerleader's baton, Moe deduced that it was gonna be an uphill struggle.

Digging her heels in, Moe tried to anticipate where the strike was going to come from. Unfortunately, it was still blisteringly fast. She was far too slow to intercept it with the flat of her weapon, but the effort was there, and she skidded back a little over a metre as it impacted her chest with a thud. At least she didn't fall on her ass, that would have been embarrassing.

"Hmph, oh really? I think it suits me just FINE!"

She didn't have much time to make a snappy retort, but Moe made the best of what she could before launching herself forwards. Her sword leaving a little trail on the ground as it followed behind her, clattering against the dirt, before she stopped and used that shift in momentum to heave the blade up and over her head in an arcing strike. It was a little short of where Nao was though, perhaps intentionally or maybe she had misjudged the swing, but then as the weapon made impact she used that as a springboard to fling herself forwards the rest of the way.

It was crude and unnecessarily acrobatic, but if she allowed Nao to dictate the range of the fight then she was always going to be on the back foot. Better she got up close and personal, see how she handled herself with Moe and her big sword right on top of her.

Damn she was full of spunk. That was the kind of energy that Nao herself had, it was why she'd used the blunt end of her polearm to attack since she was going to continue and then vault forward but Moe had taken that right out of her by running up and lunging towards her.

"Bahaha. That's pretty good."

She said while backstepping from the little Moe jumping onto her. Nao didn't immediately retaliate but she wanted to see just how much her opponent wanted to commit to the offence.

Momentum was all she had going for her, so, as Nao started to backpedal, there was only one way that Moe was going - forwards. She landed again and dragged her blade around for another swing, this time sweeping in from the left in a wide arc, but stepped into the attack rather than planting her feet and pirouetted with it to then swing round again right afterwards. It was probably flashy, and she sacrificed a good deal of power by giving up her foundation, but she had to try her best at speeding up to the point where it would not be so easily avoidable for her nimble opponent.

"You're not too bad yourself, hehe~."

Defence was certainly an afterthought, the best she could hope for was that her attack was enough to keep Nao at bay. It was doubtful that it would knock her out of commission right away and she was certainly committed to simply continuing her entirely predictable motions.

There's the commitment and Nao responded in kind, the momentum of her back step with her polearm to stab it behind her, with full usage of her balance and muscles the little Sawachika was up in the air and balanced on her naginata for but a moment.

Get her from above!

So as Moe swung her sword in a wide arc Nao flipped mid-air and came from above with a nice axe kick to the bubblegum oni's shoulder and throw her off real good. Just because she was the God Spear didn't mean she was totally incompetent with her own body. Far from it since her naginata was just so practiced that she'd turned it into an extension of her body.

Nao sprung up in the air, her polearm giving her that boost in height needed to see her above Moe's guard, and her opponent was in real trouble. Unfortunately for Moe, that was her. The axe kick landed cleanly on its intended target, flying well above her wide swings, and the sole consolation for Moe was that she was still moving. So rather than simply putting her straight down in the dirt, it sent the pink-haired challenger stumbling forwards until her sword embedded itself in the ground and that propped her up. So that was what a real kick felt like.

Had she a chance, she'd have liked to massage her shoulder already and get some ice on it, but this was a fight and it wasn't over just yet.

Dashing in again, Moe had to hope that Nao didn't have any more nifty tricks up her sleeves. She probably did, but if she wasted any time preparing for those then she would totally lose to the difference in their fundamentals. Swinging wide again, she stopped herself a half stride into the motion and instead turned it into a shoulder tackle. It was far faster than waiting for her cumbersome weapon and showed that she too knew a little of how to handle herself in general. Nao had been pushing her around, now was a chance to finally return the favour.
