-note; this thread takes place durong the events of Africatastrophe -
The sun blazed fiercely over the rugged landscape of Africa, casting long shadows that danced in the heat. Tento moved with urgency, his breath coming in steady, controlled bursts as he navigated the uneven terrain. The child on his back, limp but stable, whimpered softly, tears streaming down their dirt streaked face. The weight of their fear was almost as heavy as their physical presence.“Shh, it’s okay. I’ve got you”, Tento murmured, his voice gentle and soothing. He could feel the child's small hands clinging to him, shaking with fear. “We’re almost there. Just hold on a little longer.”
The child's cries began to quiet, replaced by soft sniffles. Tento’s calm demeanor and reassuring words seemed to ease their anxiety. Despite the dire circumstances, there was a spark in Tento’s eyes. He had to get this kid to safety, he promised their parents. Sweat trickled down Tento’s brow, mingling with the dirt and grime that clung to his skin. His muscles burned with exertion, yet his grip remained firm and protective, ensuring the child was secure. The basic kaido he’d administered had stabilized the child’s injuries, but time was of the essence.
In the distance, an area that promised shelter and a camp. It was better than being out in the open with hollows possibly attacking them. He just needed more advanced medical aid. Tento’s eyes were fixed on this goal, his determination unyielding. Each step as he flashed was taken with purpose, his mind focused on the mission at hand. The weight of the child on his back growing heavier by the minute. “You're doing great, just a bit longer,” he continued, his voice steady. The child’s breathing began to slow, their grip on him less desperate. Tento’s words had brought them a small measure of comfort, enough to quell their immediate fears. As he pressed on, the sounds of the environment faded into the background, replaced by the rhythmic beat of his own heart.

While Tento was aiding a small child reach the refuge camp upon his back, Arianda was doing her best to care for the wounded within the city. If any recognized her for what she was, she often got ridiculed and slandered. For the most part, however, the people she took care of were thankful towards her no matter what she was. Arianda did her best to treat everyone she saw and was able to. Her powers weren't exactly the best for healing. Oh indeed, she could pull pain away from someone, she could even do her best with her magic to craft a form of healing spells, but otherwise the demon was better off administering first aid and a few tricks she knew to help with injury.
Arianda paid particular attention to the injured children. She spoke in soft soothing tones, caressing the child with a gentle hand whenever they cried or squeaked in pain. Perhaps, to some, it was amazing how she took care of the children. However, whenever Arianda was sure no one was looking, and she had just taken care of a child, silent tears would flow down her cheeks. To take care of these injured children did naught but remind the demon of her departed daughter. She did all she could for the children who were injured. She stretched her ingenuity with demon magic to its very limits to make sure they lived long and strong. After all, no parent should live longer than their child; and no child should live without love or affection.
Whenever Tento arrived, he would find Arianda sitting with an injured child in her lap, singing a soft song to soothe the child's nerves while she treated her wounds. Despite the fact that Arianda very much was a demon, she cared for the children like they were her own; like they were more precious than anything in this world. After all, once you have lost your child, there is nothing that will replace the hole in your heart.

Tento moved swiftly through the makeshift streets of the refugee camp, the small, injured child secure on his back. As he neared the camp, a strange yet familiar energy pulsed at the edge of his senses. He paused for a moment, brow furrowing in curiosity. It was an energy unlike any he had felt recently, a blend of warmth and sorrow, strength and vulnerability. There was more to it then the first time he sensed it.
It was human. It was a Shinigami clearly, no a demon and most certainly a qu8ncy. It was a…DEMON. His thoughts turned to the demon, Arianda, that was the only energy he felt like this before and was his only reference. It felt like her. But why here? She was in Africa still despite the chaos still? She was strong sure but she didn't give him the vibe of someone liking fighting or seeing it. And there were a lot of spiritual energies around her, weak energies.
Tento quickened his pace, guided by the intriguing presence ahead. As he rounded a corner, the sight before him caused him to pause. Arianda sat in the midst of the chaos, an injured child cradled gently in her lap. Her voice, soft and soothing, sang a lullaby that seemed to weave a calming spell over the area. The child's cries subsided, replaced by soft, contented breaths. A ping hit him at the sight. She looked human. Much more than any camouflage form could do.
Tento approached cautiously, not wanting to disrupt the tender moment. He watched as Arianda’s hands moved with care and precision, administering what healing she could. Her powers might not have been perfect for healing, but her ingenuity and dedication were undeniable. Every touch, every whispered word, was a testament to her deep-seated compassion.
For a moment, Tento saw beyond Arianda’s demonic exterior. He saw the silent tears that escaped her eyes when she thought no one was looking, the pain that mirrored his own whenever he saw a child in need. It was clear that each child she tended to reminded her of her own lost daughter, a wound that could never truly heal.
"Arianda," Tento called softly, stepping closer. “Do you…want help?”, Tento said carefully laying the child on his back down gently to them. A green glow flowing from his hands outreached to both of them. “You've…been here taking care of all of them yourself?”.

Despite all of Arianda's focus, and all her methods to keep herself aware around her, they still failed her when Tento approached. She didn't really detect the man until she heard his voice. She jumped, her hand moving towards her pocket as the demon whirled around to face him. The demon was tensed, clearly unprepared for someone to be talking to her that wasn't injured. But... it was just Tento. Their first meeting was brief, but she recognized him well enough despite it all.
"Tento... I... Yes, please. Try as I may, I can only do so much for everyone here."
Arianda had no idea he had noticed her tears from before, tears that still lightly salted her face as the demon wiped her face off completely. For a few moments, after she had wiped her face clean, the demon turned her attention to the child Tento was taking care of. She smiled at them and gently caressed their head, carefully telling the child how brave they were. However, after that she left Tento to take care of that particular child as she moved over to someone else, carefully administering what aid she could; another young girl who seemed to have broken her arm.
Arianda gave the girl a piece of leather to bite down on. With that, Arianda did her best to suppress the girl's sense of pain around her arm gently before she set the broken bone with surprising ease; albeit the child cried out in pain despite Ari's efforts to dull it. Arianda gave the girl a gently caress before she used a collection of magic, and nearby materials, to put the girl's arm within a cast. Afterwards, Arianda reached into a nearby bag and had the girl put her arm in a sling. Arianda smiled and gave the child a warm hug, ushering her off towards her awaiting parents.
"For the most part, yes... I can't afford to fight too many hollows, or else I'll upset the balance between worlds."
Arianda moved onwards towards a young boy, who looked like a teenager, trying to act brave about his injuries. Upon approaching, he did seem to balk at Arianda attractiveness. Like any young boy he stumbled over every word he said, and Ari used a bit of her charm to her advantage to convince the boy to take treatment; that or she made her point by exploiting how much the boy really was in pain. After that, Arianda treated his wounds carefully and with the same care as all the other children.
"Where did you find that little one, Tento?"

“Despite that, you've still done a lot. I don't think a lot of them should be alive right now from their energy…”. Tento's focus was unwavering as he attended to the injured children, his hands steady and practiced. After ensuring the childs’ wounds were properly dressed, he gave them a gentle pat on the head, offering a reassuring smile before moving on to others in need.
As he worked on more people, Tento's eyes occasionally drifted toward Arianda, filled with a careful and softening look of surprise. He watched as she helped people, her methods a bit rough but undeniably effective for the long-term recovery of their injuries. For those with the most severe wounds whom Arianda tended to, Tento moved beside her, providing additional healing with the same level of care and dedication.
When Arianda turned her attention to the teenage boy, Tento couldn't help but admire her ability to charm the boy into accepting treatment. That was deadly. He remembered the sensation of that kiss to his cheek she gave him before she left, despite his unease about finding out she was a demon. He had thought all of them were gone. But there she was and here still. She…seemed okay. But from his experiences a demon was supposed to be anything but that. Was it not as easy as Hollows when they became Arrancars?
After Arianda finished speaking with the boy, Tento approached, his voice calm and kind. An attempt for a cordial rapport to be built. "I found the little one wandering alone in the aftermath. I couldn't just leave them there, so I brought them here to get the help they needed".He then leaned down to Arianda, placing a hand on her shoulder before whispering. “I….found bodies along the way. A man and a woman, matching his features. But I don't know if…”.

“It still isn’t enough…”
All the while Tento treated that child he had brought with him, Arianda had kept a rather surreptitious eye on him as well. It wasn’t out of the same reasons Tento watched Ari, but she did keep a close eye on him. But Ari continued her treatments and after ending with the teenage boy, who had followed her instructions very well, Arianda found Tento walking up to her and speaking as well.
Arianda couldn’t help but look at the child as Tento spoke, taking in where he was. However, the next set of information that Tento whispered into Ari’s ear caused her gaze to lower; her countenance darkened. If Tento looked closer, Arianda looked visibly heartbroken for the little boy. To lose your parents… Arianda knew that pain all too well. Hers may not be dead, she knew they were alive on Earth, but she had been torn from them at a young age. If Arianda had been holding anything within her hands, her grip would have long shattered it.
“It’s one thing to lose your child, but to be a young child without your parents… I…”
Arianda bit her lip and seemed to forcibly turn herself away. A part of her desired to adopt the boy so he wouldn’t be without a guardian. But, the other part of her knew that would be impossible. No matter how much she may desire to be a mother again, this wasn’t the solution. But… they could at least help better the situation overall. She wanted to check on the small boy that Tento brought back, but Ari didn’t want to tempt herself… A human child living with a demon wasn’t a good idea.
“C-C’mon. We need to keep treating people so we can keep as many people as possible from dying.”
