Workplace Professionalism [Igen, Sol]
Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:08 pm
Ah, a whole day off, and it was back to work now. A soft sigh of resignation coursed through Igen as he sat back at his desk. If nothing else at least he was doing LESS menial work than usual. Plus he had this nice desk! He lightly ran his fingers along the surface of the wood before sighing and turning his attention back to the door. Ah, right, someone was coming.
He took a moment to straighten himself a little and put on his professional smile. "Good day, can I help you with something?" He asked politely, folding his hands on his desk.

Solhammond Palliser | GROWTH
Sol never really pictured his life taking this turn, but here he was. Over the past two years his life had changed dramatically from being alive to being dead, being a fathered and now a fully-fledged Shinigami. In some ways his life improved and others it took a turn for the worst. But through it all he had made friends and extended family; the world's shades of grey had turned to a vibrant menagerie of colors that he could now appreciate.
But none of that really mattered today, as the seated member approached the desk of the officer of first division. Sol was currently wearing his robes with his division and sixth seat rank on display. His tattooed hands holding a folder with some papers in it, detailing a plan for extended patrols.
"Yeah, you can. I'm Solhammond Palliser, seventh division sixth seat. I have an appointment to get my operation orders reviewed and, God willing, approved."

Igen raised his brows just a little when the guy walked in. Huh, he was a tall one, actually one or two inches taller than Igen if he had to guess. Kinda hard to compare when he was sitting down. The tattoos additionally were something that briefly drew the eye before Igendai brightened that smile of his and reached out to accept the form. "Ah I see! Let's take a look here." He hummed, taking a moment to eyeball the form for a moment and give it a look-through. Ah, right, he was expecting this. Aaaand. HE glanced to the side and peeled a folder out from his desk, leafing through it infront of himself as he took a moment to switch through the tabbed pages before finally stopping.
"Perfect! Looks like we've been expecting you. Congratulations on your graduation bye the way!" He added, making note of the recent graduation date as well on file. Peeling the file out and then slipping it into it's own separate folder along with the form that Sol had provided, and then promptly sliding it into a small bin before standing up. his own height possibly startling Sol. People always seemed a bit balked when Igen was standing straight, before opening up a filing cabinet and retrieving another form which he then handed to Sol.
"I just need you to review some of this basic information here that we have on you. We have matches to your file, but now that you're assigned to a squad we just need to verify the location of your personal quarters, any changes in residence, stuff like that. Your Operation Orders will be processed and you should get them back within twenty four hours." He explained. Not quite as prompt as things usually were, but well. With all the ...changes in ranks and positions as of late, First Division was a little more backed up than usual. New Captain Commander, meant that any large scale changes had a lot of logistical changes to go along with them. But at the very least, Igen would make sure that Sol got at least a few things out of the way while he was here.

Well at least there wasn't any overt issues with his paperwork which always boded well.
Sol eyes followed the movements of the officer working the desk, having not yet determined if this was a guy or a girl though he leaned this was probably an effeminate man. He had seen a surprising number of them, far more than he saw during his human life. Perhaps this was a growing trend in the soul society, or just a quirky twist of fate. Not that he cared all that much, more of an interesting observation. Though he'd like to avoid the awkwardness of the question, by just handling the professional matters.
"Thank you, it was a good experience." He'd comment about his graduation, offering a thin smile to the officer. If he was surprised by the height, he didn't show it. After everything that's happened over the past few years it took a lot to shake Sol, minor quirks of life hardly phased him now. In fact, he was rather proud that he developed a cool attitude for most things. He had to admit that his ability to keep a level head wasn't a natural trait but rather one that came about through the many trials he's endured.
"Sure, do I just take a seat here?" He'd inquired knowing that this records review might take longer than expected. Might as well get it over with, not that much of his information has changed.

Igen smiled lightly at that. "Hahah, really? That's always good. A friend of mine was so nervous he almost hurled. Glad to hear you enjoyed yours." He chimed, then nodding his head and gesturing to the chair so that Sol could take a seat. "It's nothing that should take too long. Just a bit of double checking and updates if there are any before I send you on your way." He explained. Of course, it was probably going to be on the later end of 24 hours, if he were to guess, but that wouldn't really help to go informing the man of. Especially since Igen didn't know for sure.
He did however pause, for a moment wondering if he caught a familiar look on Sol's face. The look people sometimes got when trying to sus something out about Igen. And his smile gained just a smidge more mirth to it. It used to annoy him, but frankly he didn't mind it so much these days. Simply waiting patiently for Sol to fill things out. Under normal circumstances he'd ask the man to do the paperwork out in the hallway and then just slip it in when he was done. But well. It was the end of the day. Once he delivered the man's folder to the right desk for tomorrow he was pretty much done for the day as it were. Hm, maybe he'd get something to eat before heading back to his quarters. Maybe a skewer or something...

Sol would take the seat with a small nod, pulling the chair up as he set to work on the papers. Most of the information was up to date, though he paused at residency location. He let out a small groan from his throat, as if a displeased memory came to mind. He'd change his location from the Shihoin estate to the barracks of the seventh division, including his next of kin. By the time he finished he'd sign all relevant documents before handing them back to officer.
"Alright, most of it was good. I updated everything out of date. Anything else?"

Igen smiled and watched as Sol took a seat and filled out the form. It was just enough time for Igen to sort through the papers that HAD been on his desk. Thankfully nothing that really would take him too long. Heck, once this fellow was all sorted he could probably turn in for the day and go get something to eat! He smiled a little to himself at the thought and wrote a little memo on a notepad, slipping it onto a form and then setting it into the bin that Sol's paperwork had also wound up in.
Speaking of. He perked up when Sol handed back the form. "Ah, excellent! And no that's just about everything we need for you at the moment. As I noted before, it MAY be up to twenty four hours before your paperwork is fully processed, if you find yourself waiting for MORE then twenty four hours, please be sure to come back to the First Division offices so that things can be sorted out. Other than that, you're all set." He assured the man, offering a friendly smile as he did. And if that was that then once Sol headed out, he'd straight up just grab the forms from the bin and head out to deliver them to the offices they needed to go to. A pretty quick task which would only take about fifteen minutes, before he himself would clock out and promptly turn his attention to the nearest food court.
Igen was a very energetiv and fun-loving guy, but at the end of his shift? He had just one thing on his mind: FOOD.

It appeared that Sol was able to quickly depart from the office, leaving him with nothing else to do. That was the end of his workday turning in those papers, and so he had to figure out what his plans for the evening was. Truth be told he didn't want to cook, today he more or less wanted something from one of the many restaurants which littered the Rukongai. He had become quite partial to the Japanese food here since his demise. As he exited the office, he placed his hands within his pockets as he made his way towards a little ramen shop, that would take no more than twenty minutes of walking to reach.
He'd make an order for his usual Tonkotsu ramen, with some hot-sake to wash it down. For those who might see or know the male he was sitting at the bar, pouring the occasional drink.

Hmmm, well that was unusual. TYPICALLY speaking, Igen was the kind of guy to try and find something new to taste around the usual spots that the shops, bars, and other food carts usually hung around selling their wares. But it was a little late in the week, honestly he was just kinda hungry. And well...his own little...foray into Curry had left him a little more worn out than he'd hoped! And that had only made for a long day at the office. And so, as he walked...he paused not at someplace new, or some spot that was holding some unique special, but just at a good ol ramen shop a little out of he usual spots he got his food. Slipping inside, he put on a friendly smile and promptly made his way over to the bar with a sigh, rubbing his hands.
"Good afternoon! I'll just be a moment before I order!" He greeted the one running the shop, pausing as he looked over what some of the other customers were eating and humming just a bit, pausing when he noticed another fellow not that far down the bar itself. "Hey there, any recommendations?" He asked, his voice as friendly as they came as he addressed the man. From this angle he didn't qutie see the face and well. Black hair, even with his tattoos Sol wasn't really a guy that stood out SO much as to be instantly identifiable, especially when the man would presumably be turned away and focusing on his food. But hey that's what Igen liked about the soul society culture. People were so polite! In the time he'd been dead he kinda liked how open people were to socializing even when they were in the midst of eating. And sure...he didn't really REMEMBER his living life anymore to compare, but he did remember finding it a surprise at first. And a welcome one at that! Well, so long as you stayed out of ...certain areas.

Solhammond found himself a few shots deep before the appearance of Igen, and that was evident from rosy cheeks on pale skin. The steaming Sake hit the right spot, and while Sol wasn't a lightweight, he had already been drinking a fair amount. So when Igen asked him for a recommendation Sol swung around in his seat, his head facing the man as he began to prattle off. "Ah man it depends, the Tonkotsu is pretty good- that's what I'm waiting for. But the chicken KATSU hits different after a few drinks, probably the panko. Though, to be hoooonest I say get both." The man would offer with a laugh before finally focusing his gaze on who he was talking to. His brow furrowed.
"Hey do I know you?" He'd squint for a moment, the liquor haze clouding his memory. He'd snap his fingers in thought once, before looking for a Zanpakatou on the person. "We go to the academy together?"
